Whingan hails acting Customs CG over promise to combat multiple checkpoints on the Seme border road.

Rep. Sesi Whingan commends the Acting Customs CG for his working visit to Badagry and the promise to reduce multiple checkpoints in the area.

The House of Representatives member representing Badagry Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Prince Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, has commended the Acting Nigerian Customs Services' Comptroller General, Adewale Adeniyi, for visiting the Seme Border Command on a working visit.

The MHR's Commendation came shortly after the Customs chief paid a working visit to Seme border's command of the service yesterday, July 21, 2023, to interact and have a mutual discussion with the stakeholders on how best to jointly curb trans-border economic sabotage and crimes in the area, following the border reopening ordered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking with a session of the media on the customs CG's visit to Seme, Sesi said the visit was a welcome development and showed the Acting CG is proactive. The young legislator also commends Mr. Adeniyi for his promise to synergize with other sister security agencies to reduce multiple checkpoints along the Lagos-Badagry-Seme expressway. Sesi also affirmed that the multiple checkpoints along the border corridor are worrisome.

"The visit of the Acting Comptroller General to the Seme border is a welcome development. It really portrayed him as a very proactive character. I really commend his efforts, especially the promise he made about curbing the excess security checkpoints along the Seme border. The indiscriminate use of multiple checkpoints is not necessary and is worrisome. It's unfortunate I was not at the event due to official engagement, but the visit following the border reopening is a pointer that the current administration led by our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has my constituency at heart. For my part, I will continue to speak for my people at the National Assembly, speak to powers, and lobby where necessary to bring development to my people and ease their pains", Sesi said.
