Benue Women in Nigeria (BWIN) worldwide yesterday appointed the former member of the House of Representatives for Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency of Benue State, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Dorathy Mato as its matron.
The Benue State Coordinator, Hon. Mrs. Margaret Atorough who spoke on behalf of officials of BWIN appreciated Hon. Mato for her acceptance to serve as matron of the organization. According to her, their choice of Mato to serve as matron was conceived as a result of her courage, compassion, dedication and progress.
Mrs. Atorough said Hon. Mato is a woman that is worth emulating because she has served in many political capacities, has made enormous impact on children, youths and women, and contributed significantly for the socioeconomic and sociocultural development of many communities in Benue State.
"You have proven to be a voice to women and have championed the development of women in our dear state and beyond and as such, we find you worthy to be our matron and graciously anticipate your positive response.
"In the long run, not only will you contribute your wealth of knowledge and resources, this cooperative shall also, support your future ambitions", she said.
The Director of Women Empowerment of BWIN, Mrs. Chior Jessica Dooshima extolled Mrs. Mato as a courageous and dedicated woman who has been fearless in doing the right thing and her support for progress and compassion for those in despair.
She acknowledged that Mato being their matron, would spur them to be more committed on service delivery and uphold the values that characterize a virtuous woman because they hold her in very high esteem, hence the need for her to become their matron.
Hon. Mato was overwhelmed with the love shown to her and the decision by BWIN to find her worthy to be their matron. She said there are many women in Benue State who have also made commendable impact, but for her to be chosen amongst them, she will not take it for granted.
She promised to do her best to turn things around for the development of the organization so that everyone will be equipped physically, financially and psychologically to make impact not only on women but their respective communities.
She admonished them to be united because unity and peace are the only indices that would be the bedrocks of unhindered development of the organization.
Benue Women In Nigeria (BWIN) is a cooperative society with the goal to advance the cause of women to be financially independent, foster togetherness, and equal opportunities for Benue women, amongst others.
