Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives from Badagry Federal Constituency, introduced two additional bills on the floor of the National Assembly's lower chamber today, October 5, 2023.
Hon. Sesi, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of Petroleum Resources (Upstream), introduced the Petroleum Industry Act (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which seeks to increase the amount payable to the Host Communities Development Trust Fund by each settlor from 3% to 10%, among other things. He also introduced legislation to amend the Central Bank of Nigeria Act to clearly state that the Governor and Deputy Governors of the apex bank shall not engage in any form of political activity or seek election to any political office established under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), while serving as Governor or Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and for other related purposes. The national assembly has given both bills their first reading.
Recall that in his last 100 days in office, the youngest House of Representatives member from Badagry, Lagos State, introduced 12 bills on the House floor. This brings his total number of bills sponsored in the National Assembly to fourteen.
