The Acting Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) Sir. James Iorpuu has assured the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) that the State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia is working tirelessly to collaborate and work with International and Local partners to put a permanent solution to their plight, assuring them that the resettlement plan by the government will be done to risk-free process.

He stated this today Wednesday 31st January when he led a team of Disaster Assessment Response Team (DART) from the United States Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (U.S BHA) to IDP camps in continuation of the needs and impact assessment tour.

He said the camp to camp tour by the high power delegation was in line with the Governor's coherent humanitarian response that is people-centred, context-specific, contributing to community resilience and provision of durable solutions to protracted internal displacement.

The Ag. ES BSEMA along with US BHA's delegation and key partners visited Gbajimba camp II, Daudu camp II and Ortese IDP camps in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State

The delegation of US Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, headed by the Senior Humanitarian Advisor, Patrick Robin, while interacting with Camp Management, IDPs and representatives of host communities said the visit was to get first-hand information about IDPs situation and present their report as well as to look at how best the US government could collaborate and work together with Benue State Government in alleviating their sufferings.

"The humanitarian challenges facing Benue are huge and require a strong and comprehensive response". Patrick Robin said.

During the visit some of the IDPs were asked about what triggered a humanitarian crisis and most pressing needs of the IDPs while the IDPs provided the team with valuable information for their plight and concern, calling for a strong and inclusive security structure by the state Government to ensure their safety return to their host communities to continue with the normal life.
