The Chief Executive officer, Federal Housing Authority FHA, Hon Oyetunde Ojo has reiterated the commitment of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deliver affordable houses to ordinary Nigerians .
Ojo made this remark when he led the management team of the agency on a courtesy call to Lagos government house on Saturday, in continuation of the visit to South West States.
Ojo while speaking at the occasion restated the desire of the new management of FHA to put in place "end user driven " policy against the backdrop of imposition as it was previously obtainable.
"The Federal government has prioritised affordable housing as part of it's agenda, and we had a statutory obligations to deliver on our mandate hence the visit to seek for land to enable us erect a befitting structures from the custodians who are the state governors."
"We are going round to find out the models and designs as well as values preferences of the end users from states to states in line with the new order , away from the previous policy."
While commending the laudable achievements of Governor Babajide Sanwolu in the area of housing, the Chief Executive officer maintained that the management was encouraged to collaborate with the state government so as to prioritize housing for all and sundry.
He said the proposed collaboration with the state government will enhance value chain of the industry with a promise to deliver models that will be affordable to the young ones like one bedrooms, studios as well as carcas to reduce cost and make houses affordable to the people.
He noted that the carcas will contain electrical and plumbing and common exterior that will attract end users.this he said will allow owners to finish their houses at their own time.
Ojo who promised to debut a disparoian city project that will cater for the diasporians.
While asking for the governor's approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to flag off and commission FHA project coming up soon in Lagos.
Responding, Lagos state governor thanked the management of FHA for the visit, acknowledging housing deficit in lagos state even after building about 19 estates since the inception of the present administration.
He lauded the model been put in place by the FHA, stating that he welcome efforts that will put roof on the head of common men , particularly the cosmopolitan Lagos state.
"Your vision tallies with ours, which is basically providing houses for ordinary Nigerians without recourse to any form delay or encumbrance."
"We can collaborate because there is a lot of housing need in Lagos state."
Sanwolu stated.
He said the state is planning to go vertical without necessarily being luxurious , while promising to provide land to FHA, but with a caveat , that development must be immediate, because they are need to be met.
While congratulating the new management, the governor advised the team to change the skyline and leave their footprint.
