The Managing Director, Federal Housing Authority FHA, Hon Oyetunde Ojo has commenced the tour of South West states with the management team, with a visit to Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyetunji on Thursday.
The visit , a continuation of management visits to building synergy and collaboration that would ensure that management delivers on its cardinal mandate of providing Nigerians with livable and affordable houses in line with the President's Renewed Hope Agenda on Housing.
While on the visit, the FHA management restated the determination to attract the state primarily to attract the state into keying into it's desire to make houses available to Nigerians in line with Tinubu's mandate..
He said the new FHA under his leadership has decided that people would have to take ownership of projects that are delivered for them, stating that the best way to have this buy- in is to interact with them .
"Our Management found it necessary to go round the states to meet with the governors, and seek for collaboration to provide houses for Nigerians. As the custodian of land in the states, we intend to ask for land to build for their people." Ojo Stated.
The Managing Director stated that his team has come to solicit for land and support, for the purpose of building houses for the people of Ekiti State.
Speaking further, Hon Ojo stated that FHA has come out with new models and classes of houses that all Nigerians can benefit from, particularly building more of one bedrooms, studios and also delivering houses in carcas.
According to the MD FHA, the authority will carry out both the electrical and plumbing fitting with a prototype exterior, this will prevent expensive and luxurious finishing that affects cost of houses, and allow house owners and individuals finish their houses according to their tastes and capacity.
While responding, Ekiti State Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji commended President Tinubu for considering the indigene of the state worthy of the position.
He also expressed joy on the choice of FHA management choosing Ekiti as the first port of call on their visits to the South West Zone.
He promised to provide enough land for development in the state provided it would be developed within the specific time frame.
He commended the foresight of the new FHA for ongoing consultation , so as to enable the authority know the needs of the individual states, culture and challenges which will make the people take ownership of houses built for them.
