On May 16, 2024, the main auditorium of the Nigerian French Language Village was bustling and filled to capacity as Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency, along with other distinguished Nigerians, were honored with the institution's prestigious Fellowship Award.
Prof. Lateef Babatunde Ayeleru, the Director and CEO of the institution, commended Hon. Sesi Whingan during the award presentation. He acknowledged Whingan's steadfast support for the institution's growth and development, highlighting his significant contributions in the National Assembly and his dedication to continuing projects started by his predecessor, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe. Prof. Ayeleru described the award as a token of appreciation for Whingan’s extensive support and encouragement to the university.
Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, the former Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency and a fellow awardee, praised his successor in his acceptance speech. Hunpe commended Whingan for carrying on the projects he had started during his term. He noted that Whingan has demonstrated himself to be a worthy successor deserving of the support of the Badagry people and promised to continue collaborating for the constituency's advancement.
During his acceptance speech, Hon. Sesi Whingan expressed gratitude to the management of the Nigerian French Language Village for the honor. He highlighted the development of the institution as a top priority and committed to tirelessly supporting its growth. Whingan also extended congratulations to his predecessor, Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, and other co-awardees, underscoring his dedication to the collective responsibility of advancing Badagry.
According to the citation read during the award presentation and investiture, Hon. Sesi Whingan was born into the royal family of Maseno in Ikoga-Zebbe, within the Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State, in the 1980s. He completed his primary and secondary education at St. Benedette Nursery and Primary School and Ijemo Titun High School in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during the 1990s and 2000s. He then pursued higher education at Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, where he earned a degree in mass communication in 2009.
From 2003 to 2008, Hon. Sesi developed his expertise in communication and journalism at Paramount FM radio station and Gateway Mirror in Ogun State. He continued his education by obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom.
Prior to his election to represent the Badagry Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Sesi Whingan served as the Managing Director of Pogs Luxury and as the Regional Manager and Partner of FAB Pharmaceutical Nigeria Limited, where he demonstrated strong business management and strategic planning skills.
