...Gives 25 hectares of land to FHA
The Renewed Hope Housing programme keeps getting boost across the country as the Nasarawa State Government has given 25 hectares of land to Federal Housing Authority for project.
This was disclosed by the State Governor His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, Tuesday 28 May 2024, when the Managing Director and Chief Executive, Federal Housing Authority Hon.Oyetunde Ojo led a team of his management on a courtesy visit to him.
The FHA boss in his address commended the Governor for his developmental strides in the state, especially in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture and the welfare of the workers and pensioners.
The MD informed Governor Sule that his major reason for visit is to bring the message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) on the Renewed Hope Housing initiative to Nasarawa state. According to Hon Ojo, Nasarawa is the 22nd state FHA management has visited with this message over the past weeks.
He reminded the Governor that Federal Housing Authority is saddled with the responsibility of housing Nigerians and developing cities. It is because of this he said that the President deemed it fit to appoint a new management for FHA under him saddled with this responsibility.
President Tinubu he noted attaches serious importance in not just providing houses for Nigerians, but livable and affordable ones.
Hon Ojo told Governor Sule that FHA through the value chain of Housing construction intends to help fight Inflation and insecurity by creating several jobs. He informed the Governor that the Authority is one of the beneficiary the funds recently approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). With the fund, the MD said FHA is poised to go to into massive housing construction.
However, he told His Excellency Governor Sule that the Authority can not do much without having land. In his words, Hon Ojo said, " ...we can not achieve all these without land. That is why we are here, for you to help us get this land".
Continuing, he also said,"in seeking this land, we appeal that you help us remove the bottle neck of payment of compensation and other encumbrances".
The FHA Chief Executive informed the governor that the Authority would definitely reciprocate such waiver that would save it a lot of cost by returning some Housing units back to the State for the lower Cadre of her workers.
He reiterated the Authority’s stance on collaboration with states in designs and planning, reaffirming FHA Management's decision not to stay in Abuja and impose designs on people. He clarified once more that the move is in cognizance of differences in people's culture. This also he said is to ensure that the houses would be taken on completion.
On the delivery model. Hon Ojo re- stated his earlier position that finishing would not be imposed on the people. He maintained that forcing certain finishing remains the reason why disposal prices of houses are high and out of the reach of the people on the low Cadre.
He insisted that finishing should be a function of affordability and individual taste.
FHA the MD said would be developing Disapora Cities in all the States where land is made available. This he said is to help the diasporians to have befitting houses back home and to minimize how they are defrauded in the guise of helping the to build houses.
The Authority’s recent digitisation he said would make the diasporians have seamless dealings with us and at the same time afford them the opportunity to monitor their investments.
Finally, Hon Ojo re- echoed President Tinubu's apolitical directive on the Renewed Hope. He noted that it is a Nigerian programme, irrespective of political affiliation, religion or tribe. The MD noted that his team has visited non APC Governors, who have pledged support for the programme.
In his response, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi Sule appreciated the Management for coming to Nasarawa State . He applauded the President's apolitical stance of the programme and his determination not only to give to party loyalists, but all Nigerians.
