By Terfa Naswem

The Co-Founder and the Cultural Ambassador of Fidei Polytechnic, Gboko, Benue State, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Dorathy Mato yesterday hosted the new Students' Union exco of Fidei Polytechnic at a dinner at Bansterk Hotel and Resort, Gboko.

As a mother, she said students of the institution are like her children and she considers the union exco as hers too. She was pleased to host them as they are set to fully begin work as exco of the union and believes they will do their best to project the institution on the trajectory of reverence.

Mato appealed to them to ensure that no matter what they do as unionists, such should not take preference over their studies because their primary aim of being in the institution is for their education.

She noted all their requests and challenges for consideration as she is concerned about their welfare and the progress of the institution.

They were assured of more collaboration with the management through the Dean Students' Affairs, Mr. Bunde Upurugh in order for effective information sharing and management for the well-being of students.

The Students' Union President, Rt. Comr. Tyoakaa Fater Raphael commended Mato for her love and generosity towards them and other students. He assured her of effective student leadership that will work for the interest of the students and at the same time, protect the interest of the institution.

He appealed to Mato to ensure that debates are organized and an academic excellence reward system should be established to reward exceptional students which with motivate others to take their studies more seriously.

The President also indicated some areas on campus that should be given serious attention to protect students and the institution as well.

The General Secretary of the Union, Rt. Comr. Mpon Destiny Ojong eulogized Mrs. Mato for being a wonderful mother whose love for them knows no bounds. He stressed the need for Fidei Polytechnic to have contact persons in Cross River State who will be coordinating sales of forms for the Polytechnic and other matters relating to the institution. He said radio stations in Cross River State can be contacted to make this easier.

The Sporting Director of the Union, Rt. Comr. Tyogbegba Kulanen Fabian was extremely glad for the memorable reception given them and promised to do his best to promote the institution. He appealed to Hon. Mato to provide band instruments so that they can handle the band session during matriculation and other events rather than bringing people outside to do it when good hands are in the polytechnic to do that.

The Dean Students' Affairs, Bunde commended Mato for the show of love and assured her that some aspects under his control that need improvement will be taken care of without hesitation.
