The African Public Relations Association (APRA), an organization of PR professionals in Africa, has urged the Kenyan government to prioritize its citizens in the wake of the ongoing massive protests in the country over a finance bill.
APRA, in a statement signed by its Executive Secretary, Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan, and sent to the media in the early hours of Thursday, 27th June 2024, condoled with all Kenyans. The organization expressed its solidarity with the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) and urged the government of Kenya to "put the people of Kenya first."
"We urge the Government of Kenya to put the people of Kenya first and, in a show of conversational capacity as already indicated by the Presidency, undertake stakeholder consultations with empathy and an openness to reconciliation."
"We commiserate with the families of those who died and wish a speedy recovery to those injured during the protests. We fervently pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased," the statement read.
