He made this assertion on Monday during the launch of the season farming to boost food production and list the state among the food basket of the nation .
"Our amiable, indefatigable and peace - loving governor, Alhaji Usman Ododo has again reiterated his love for the people of the state through provision of over 100 tractors to cultivate about 7, 324 hectares of land by kogi state farmers across the 21 local government areas in the 2024 farming season. "
He commended the state government for his proactiveness in all areas of the states development in the last few months of his administration as agriculture is the mainstay of any thriving economy.
"This gesture is worth commendable as agriculture has been the mainstay of the economy prior to the discovery of oil in Oloibiri in Bayelsa State in 1953 that has become a curse rather than a blessing."
He said the new area discovered by the governor was an added advantage to its current status as oil producing state , stating agriculture has been the life wire of any country .
"The governor having realised the importance of agriculture despite federal government declaring Kogi State as an oil producing state is not leaving any stone unturned till food sufficiency is not only guaranteed in the state, but will serve as the food market for the north central geopolitical zone."
"I have personally never doubted the capacity of the governor neither have I doubted his sincerity of purpose in ensuring the poorest of the poor eats three square meals within the first four years of his administration. "
While lauding the governor further for his people oriented leadership in the last few months , he appealed to the farmers across the state to justify government huge investment and intervention.
"As a critical stakeholder in the advancement of the people's cause and the primus inter pares of the forum of Secretaries to the local government councils, I will ensure all my members key - into the agricultural programmes of the governor with the view to making the local farmers at the local government levels get their dues in terms of land and tractors so as to get maximum output. "
"My special thanks to the governor for giving priority to the youth and women by allocating 75% of the land to them. This gesture will make farming very attractive to the youths who prior to now are disinterested in farming."
"Provision of enabling environment by the government is sine qua non to making farming attractive to the youths and that is what our indefatigable and the People's general have identified and solving. "
