A coalition for change has appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rescind his decision on the appointment of the new Director General, National Productivity Centre NPC, stating that as a training ground , successive DG's rose through the cadre and are purely professionals.
A statement released on Sunday countering the relief of the current Director General, Dr Raji Mustapha by the secretary of the coalition , Laide Ganiyu enjoined President Tinubu to reverse the decision without further delay , stating that as the hub of advancing productivity in the country, it will augur well for the growth and development.
According to Laide , in the history of the establishment of the National Productivity Centre NPC, the Director General normally rise through the cadre and not for political patronage .
"The current Director General, Dr Raji Mustapha joined the services of the centre as an assistant productivity officer about 30 years ago, and rose through the cadre to become the DG in May , 2023 after the expiration of the tenure of the predecessor."
"The former Minister of Labour , Senator Dr Chris Ngige properly briefed former President Buhari before his appointment and ratification, arguing that President Tinubu should not bastardise the quest for a productive society been championed by the current leadership."
*There is no how a political appointee who does not know the intricacies of a productivity linked society charged with the training of both private and public organizations by the current leadership , as well as productivity linked performance been championed by the centre see the light of the day."
He warned on the consequences of allowing politicians to infiltrate the activities of the centre, that is purely a core training ground.
"It is on record that successive leadership in the agency and succession are quite distinct from the core quasi political public offices, urging President Tinubu to look into the appointment and reverse it."
