LG poll: DESIEC failed to bring electorial materials to Olumu Ward 1, 2 APC candidates alleges

OLOMU: The All Progressives Congress APC councillorship candidates in Olomu Federal Ward 1 and 2 has alleged that the Delta State Independent Electorial Commission DSIEC failed supply material as at 5pm to Ogoni-Olomu community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

Addressing a team of journalists on election monitoring, an APC in Olomu ward 1, Prince Sunny Jifas Ogbon, said that the APC party members in the ward came out as early as 8am in the morning, but to their greatest suppress no electorial materials or DISCE official were seen in Ward 1, 2 and 3.

Prince Ogbon described the election in Ogoni-Olomu community as a sham and a broad day robbery of the will of the people whom they stopped from exicersing the voting rights.

He therefore, called on the National Assembly to amend relevant sections of the constitution to scrap state electoral Commission describing them as a threat to democracy.

Also speaking, the APC councillorship candidate Ward 2, DISEC Ward 10, Mr Ufuoma Oruma alleged that PDP leaders in his Ward threatened him and asked him not to come out on election day.

According to him, "Some PDP leaders in my Ward, Olomu ward 2 called me two days to the election asking to step down, that they don't want opposition on the day of the election in Ward 2.

"They also boasted that if I failed to step down from the race, they will not allow me to vote because I will not see voting materials and true to their threats, DISEC didn't supply material and we didn't see their officials," he added.

Another APC councillorship candidate for Olomu Ward 1, DISEC Ward 9, Mr Edwin Akeni while speaking to our correspondent collaborated the allegation that electoral materials were not brought to Olomu Ward 1, 2 and 3.

According to him, "DISCE has once again proven that it's an appendage of the State PDP and can't be trusted with serious business of conducting elections.

Akeni added that, "We are completely disappointed at the DISCE and Delta State PDP for this shameful conduct, if they are popular as they claimed they should have supplied materials.

" As far as we are concerned, there was no election in Olomu ward 1, PDP out of fear directed DESIEC not to supply materials, if they have supplied materials, we would won the election because the people are with us, he added.
