The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia had a social contract with the good people of Benue State to bring hope to their despair.
After winning his election and sworn-in as the executive governor of Benue State, Alia has been very compassionate about the plight of Benue people and swang into action by ensuring consistent payments of salaries, pensions and gratuities including numerous completed, ongoing and yet-to-commence projects. He understood the critical situation of Benue State even before he had the intention of contesting for governor.
The most difficult job in the world now is being a critic of Alia because he has done more good than harm, and those trying to denigrate him lack substance in their criticisms.
Those criticizing Alia in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties are doing so because they don't want the fire of opposition to be extinguished so they keep criticizing Alia to make themselves noticed and relevant even when deep down in their hearts, they know he is doing well.
Those within the All Progressives Congress (APC) denigrating Alia are doing so because their selfish interests were not taken into cognizance and not because they care about the well-being of the good people of Benue State.
Let me prove to you that most of those denigrating Alia is because of their selfish interests. Since Alia became governor, he has been paying salaries, pensions and gratuities constantly, he has been contructing roads, drainages and executing other projects, he has been executing projects in agriculture, urban and rural department and empowerment amongst others, yet his critics have never commended any of these things he did that hitherto were illusions in the past administration.
You can check the Facebook walls or pages of such people including other social media platforms associated with them, you will never see any post they made to commend just one good thing Alia has done.
Their criticisms even sound very childish and funny. When Alia pays salaries, pensions and gratuities consistently, they say it is his duty to do so because it is the right of workers not privileges; as Alia constructs roads, they say the roads are too short or why did he do them only in selected areas; as he empowers a significant number of youths, they say why didn't he empower all youths in Benue?; as he empowers a significant number of cooperatives, they say why didn't he give people the money individually?; as he brings bags of fertilizer at subsidized rates, they say why didn't he distribute them free?; as he went on Thank You Tour to appreciate all the 23 local government councils for voting him, they say it was waste of time and resources; as he is paying salaries and pensions on 22nd to 23rd of every month, they say he should have been paying it on 20th; as he constructs underpass, they say underpass is not necessary, he would have used the money for something else and so on. They have never commended any of these things he has done.
All they do is criticizing without commending which amounts to gross hypocrisy and they are not even taken seriously in their criticisms by rational thinkers.
Whenever they denigrate Alia, people just look at them like those who hate development and want the good people of Benue State to to continue to remain in bondage. People also look at them like those in the wilderness making noise to be recognized and rescued which make their job of criticizing Alia more difficult for them.
