Gov Alia Commends Sen Tinubu's Overwhelming Support To Benue Women

Benue state Governor Rev Fr Dr Hyacient Alia has commended Sen Tinubu for her overwhelming support to Benue women, those living with disabilities and the vulnerable people.

Gov Alia gave the remarks during the First Lady's visit on Thursday in Makurdi while making  symbolic presentation of food items to IDPs, persons leaving with disabilities and vulnerable people in the State. 

This is contained in a statement by Bridget  Tikyaa,the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on  Media, Publicity and Communication Strategy. 

Represented by his deputy Barr Sam Ode, Alia promised to compliment her effort by augmenting the distribution to the most volnurable persons in the State.

He described the President as a father and friend of the State and commended the Vice President Sen Kashim Shettima for his continuous support to the State.

He said Benue has benefited so much from the Renewed Hope Initiative adding that the State was immensely grateful.

 Oluremi Tinubu, Wife of Nigeria President, said 37,000 women in the country would benefit from the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) recapitalisation grant.

The Renewed Hope Initiative" which is the Sen Tinubu's pet project was under a Social Investment Programme, tagged, "Food Outreach Scheme".

Represented by wife of the Vice President, Mrs Nana Shettima, Mrs Tinubu said 1000 women from each State and the FCT would get N50,000 recapitalisation grant from the RHI economic empowerment programme.

"I am pleased to inform you that the governing council of the Renewed Hope Initiative have graciously approved a business recapitalisation grant of N50,000 for 1000 women petty traders in each States and the FCT to support their businesses as part of our renewed hope initiative for women economic programme.

"This programme would be launched on the 22nd August simultaneously across the country."she said

Sen Tinubu said under the RHI a truck load of assorted food items is donated for onward distribution to the targeted groups in the State.

According to her, the programme was designed to provide support to the under privileged in line with the resolve of President Tinubu to leave no one behind in ensuring food security and sufficiency in the country.

She urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items.

In her welcome address, Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs Mrs Scholastica Sor said the State has received several supports from the Renewed Hope Initiative so far.

She said more supports were on the way as over 200 women were selected to benefit from the Renewed Hope Initiative agriculture programme.
