The World Bank, Bureau of Public Procurement BPP and Sustainable Procurement, Environment and Social Standard Enhancement Project SPESSE have stressed the need to close the gap of procurement and good output to ensure good governance, reduce corrupt tendencies.
The Director General, Bureau of Public Procurement BPP, Dr Adebowale Adedokun made this disclosure during a one day stakeholders retreat held at National University Commission NUC in Abuja.
The one day program stakeholders retreat on the "National procurement certification framework" dwelled on the improvement and collaboration between the stakeholders with a view to deploying the best procurement practices.
While appealing to the public sector to key into the new format , he enjoined the private sector to also leverage on the new program to improve their procurement process.
He said the current administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is eager to put to practice the new format by the second quarter of 2025, stating that no Ministries, Departments and Agencies will be left behind.
According to the Director General, the introduction of dynamics and more robust system in the procurement process cannot be overlooked, stating that continuous training and retraining is a corrolary to sane procurement process.
He promised that the ongoing digitization process in the Bureau of Public Procurement BPP is non- negotiable that will not only transform procurement process, but give it a facelift.
