Presidency Arrests Insider Who Leaked Buhari’s Covid-19 Broadcast Speech

By News Proof

An insider who leaked President Muhammdu Buhari's last Covid-19 broadcast speech before the broadcast speech has been nabbed, and “already answering for his evil action”, Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has said in a new publication

The culprit was simply referred to as the "enemy of the state" by Adesina in a new article, titled, "Enemy of the state" published in his personal website, femiadesina.com.

The social media had been inundated with a draft copy of the President’s speech a few hours before his address to the nation on Monday.

The document, though marred with typos and other errors, showed some sameness to the one which was later read by the President.

However, the striking difference was that the draft copy stated that the lockdown in Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Lagos and Ogun States would be lifted on Saturday, May 2.

But Buhari in his address later that evening said the gradual easing of lockdown in the three places would be effective Monday, May 4.

Reacting on Friday through a column, ‘From The Inside’, which was published on his website, www.femiadesina.com, Adesina said “an Enemy of the State struck in Nigeria on Monday”, adding that the person was guilty of “sabotage” and did not wish the country well.

He said, “I took a look at the circulating document, and within one minute, I knew that it was a rogue copy.

“I made a few phone calls to those of us involved with the script, right from origination, which was from outside the Presidency, to final editing, which I did, and the conclusion was easy to reach.

“Who would do such a thing, except an Enemy of the State, someone who wants to ridicule the government?

Revealed: Nnamdi Kanu's Clone to Address IPOB Members

By News Proof

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is reportedly set to use a clone of its leaders, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to address its members via online video streaming as the group, which has been outlawed as a terror organization, remains under intense pressure to prove that Kanu is still alive and had not succumbed to corona virus diseases as reported in some media.

IPOB spokesperson, Emma Powerful, had released a handwritten note purportedly from Kanu announcing that “I will be LIVE here on Facebook, on this page at 7pm with no edited speech or digitally remastered video by the Chinese.”

The assertion was in response to a report by online journalist, Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo, who had revealed that doctors in an Italian hospital have confirmed Kanu’s demise from COVID-19. She had exclusively reported the death of the deceased Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, from COVID-19 two weeks before the announcement of his death.

A source familiar with the situation said “The senior layer of IPOB has weighed the situation and it is truly a precarious one because people are asking for Kanu to appear in person on video as audio messages could be faked by anyone with access to state of the art software. By a stroke of luck there had been a contingency plan long in the offing.”

Investigations revealed that the contingency plan referred to by the source may not be unconnected with the cloning of Kanu, whose DNA material was harvested by the scientist when he was on exile in Israel. The decision to create a clone was out of IPOB’s fear that he could be assassinated at any time and it would be then be left without a leader. The clone is now being put to use after he reportedly died of the virus.

According to the source, while not specifically making reference to a clone, “IPOB, being a superior and more dynamic organization, has taken care of all possible outcomes. People want to see Ohamadike Nnamdi Kanu on video, they will see him, and it will not be any photo trick, it will be superior science.”

Pressed further for details, the source only said, “Stand by and watch on the appointed time that our leader gave.”

Another source in the security circle who craved anonymity because he did not have the clearance to speak revealed that even the international counterparts of Nigerian security agencies are aware that the IPOB leader is deceased from COVID-19 in the worst case scenario and is certainly in no shape to anchor a video stream if he is still considered as being alive.

The source said, “At the very best Kanu is on life support and disconnecting him to make a video broadcast will certainly kill him. So, if IPOB says they are bringing Kanu to talk to people on video then it tallies with intelligence from the past that he might have created a clone of himself to evade arrest at that time.

“The update we have is that someone that looks like him have been working international consultants, voice actors, a movie director and a body language expert to recreate the persona of Kanu without anyone noticing. The brief if that whoever will appear in the said video stream will be shorter, bulkier and slightly fairer than the Kanu we once have in custody,” he said.

In his view, getting the biometrics of the person that will appear in the video is key to verifying their true identity. He also hinted that the recent social media postings purportedly from Kanu betray slight variations from his original posts, which further fuels concerns that someone else is posting messages on his behalf.

By Dansu Peter

Mouka, Nigeria’s leading brand of mattresses and bedding products, felicitates Christians in this period of Easter, which signifies the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

It also advocates preventive measures on the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic for a more robust celebration.

The social responsible company which has the wellbeing of Nigerians at the core of its mission, urged Christians to see Easter as time of demonstrating love for one another, sharing, tolerance and exhibiting the attributes of Jesus Christ which is the embodiment of the religion that is being practised.

“At this time of coronavirus in the country, a pandemic that has attracted the attention of global leaders, we look on to Christians to pray to God for the speedy containment for socio-economic advancement and also to avert increase in death cases,” he affirmed.

Army, Police collaboration will bring banditry in Plateau, Sokoto to barest minimum – Middle Belt Group

By News Proof

The Middle Belt Conscience Guards (MBCG) has welcomed the Federal Government's directive to deploy troops to assist the police flush out bandits in Sokoto and Plateau States.

According to the group, the collaborative efforts of Army and Police in the past yielded dividends aplenty and would play out this time around.

In a statement signed by Secretary General, Dr. Paul Itodo, the Middle Belt Conscience Guard said the involvement of the “Nigerian Army in routing out bandits from forests around the country is an indication of its invaluable role in internal security operations in the country.”

MBCG, however, hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for dishing out the order and similarly applauded Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General T.Y Buratai for his proactive response.

It disclosed that the COAS already mandated the General Officers Commanding the army formations in the affected states to reinforce the police efforts to track the bandits and bring them to justice.

MBCG added that the Army's Chief exemplary, excellent and exceptional atmosphere put in place for officers and soldiers would ensure it continues the mandate of protecting the country's territorial integrity in the two states.

The Middle Belt Conscience Guards, therefore, called on all well-meaning Nigerians to lend support to the security agencies in that task of ensuring that the activities of bandits and other criminal elements are curtailed to the barest minimum across Nigeria.

Read full statement below:

The Middle Belt Conscience Guards receives the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari directing the Nigerian Army to join the Nigerian Police to flush out bandits from forests around the country, particularly in the areas that witnessed recent attacks as a welcome development.

The involvement of the Nigerian Army in routing out bandits from forests around the country is an indication of the invaluable role of the Nigerian Army in internal security operations in the country.

The Middle Belt Conscience Guards, as critical stakeholders in the ongoing peace efforts in the Middle Belt region in Nigeria, wishes to emphatically state that the Nigerian Army has indeed risen to the occasion in critical periods to restore law and order through their professionalism and commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria.

The Middle Belt Conscience Guards is excited that by this presidential directive, the incessant killing of innocent Nigerians in these two states will come to an end as the Nigerian Army has not failed Nigerians in this regard whenever the need arises.

We are also conscious of the fact that the involvement of the Nigerian Army in most internal security operations in the country has always yielded positive results. We are confident that the activities of bandits in Plateau and Sokoto States would be a thing of the past in no distant time.

The Middle Belt Conscience Guards wishes to wholeheartedly appreciate Mr. President and welcome the proactiveness of the Chief of Army Staff to see to the full and total implementation of the order by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Middle Belt Conscience Guards is most impressed with the quick response of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, who has already mandated the General Officers Commanding the army formations in the affected states, directing them to reinforce the police efforts to track the bandits and bring them to justice.

The peace being enjoyed in places like Zamfara, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa, and parts of Plateau States is due to the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Police and the Nigerian Army with the support of the political authorities.

This success of these collaborations over time is an indication of the dynamic leadership provided by the Muhammadu Buhari led administration that has yielded the much-desired result in the business of keeping Nigeria safe and secured for the entrenchment of sustainable growth and development.

The Middle Belt Conscience Guards wishes to commend the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai for providing an excellent and exceptional atmosphere for officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army to keep up with their constitutional mandate of protecting the territorial integrity of Nigeria, as well as other internal security operations such as this across the country.

This is evident in the fact that it is on record that the Nigerian Army has been actively involved in the war against terrorism in North-East Nigeria, as well as over 20 internal security operations in the country simultaneously.

This is indeed commendable and an indication of how the Nigerian Army has evolved into a professional fighting force since the advent of the Muhammadu Buhari administration since 2015. There has never been a time such as this in the annals of the country where the Nigerian Army has been so stretched yet delivering results.

The Middle Belt Conscience Guards wishes to call on all well-meaning Nigerians to lend its support to the security agencies in that task of ensuring that the activities of bandits and other criminal elements are curtailed to the barest minimum across Nigeria.

The Middle Belt Conscience Guards salutes the political authorities in Nigeria for ensuring an enviable level of cooperation amongst the various security agencies in Nigeria.

War against terrorism: Group chides unpatriotic media platforms over falsehood, attempts to undermine military

By News Proof

The North East Peace Agenda (NEPA) has lamented the worrisome attacks targeted at the Nigerian military by some media outfits despite the troops' patriotism and sacrifices to rid the nation of terrorists and other criminal elements.

The group said this unnecessary assault does not bode well for the restoration of peace and security that these institutions stand for.

In a statement signed by National Coordinator, Ibrahim Bukar, on Wednesday, NEPA fingered Sahara Reporters to be at the forefront of this campaign.

While acknowledging that Sahara's mischievous alliance with foreign groups to rubbish the military isn't new, Bukar said it reached an all new level with its recent outing.

SR alleged that a routine change of guard in the Nigerian Army was informed by a decision to punish an erstwhile Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole for daring to demand for weapons to fight Boko Haram terrorists.

The North East Peace Agenda, therefore, condemns Sahara Reporters for promoting mischief, falsehood and dishonest objectives with sole intent of ruining the gains so far made on the war against insurgency.

The group strongly advised the Omoyele Sowore-owned outlet to find their missing conscience and quit following the direction dictated by its foreign financiers.

Read full text below:

The North East Peace Agenda has observed with alarm the resurgence of targeted media attack on the counterterrorism by the Nigerian Military as this does not bode well for the restoration of peace and security that these institutions are saddled with.

This attack on the military climaxed with the glee that an outlet like Sahara Reporters celebrated the Boko Haram attack on Nigerian troops in Yobe state. The mischief that is behind this this criminal undertaken was obvious from the way Sahara Reporters rushed to manipulate figures and distorted facts to arrive at its goal of maligning an institution that has given much to deliver on its sacred mandate.

It is public knowledge that the military has done much to rid the country and neigbouring countries of Boko Haram and its carious subsidiaries, an exercise that has unnecessarily become onerous because of the foreign and international support that terrorists are getting in form of weapons, secret trainings, leaked intelligence, clandestine funding and other forms of support that has given the terrorists an appearance of being resilient.

Perhaps the greatest support that the terrorists have enjoyed comes from international NGOs and pro-terrorists media outfits that help to deliver damaging propaganda for Boko Haram under the pretext of doing cutting edge stories. These are stories that will not stand to the scrutiny of professional and ethical journalism for the mere fact that they are not news stories in the journalistic sense of it but are rather press releases and statements crafted by Boko Haram and given the air or responsibility by known media outfits peddling them.

It is on this note that we reviewed with disappointment how Sahara Reporters led a pack of like minded platforms to allege that a routine change of guard in the Nigerian Army was informed by a decision to punish an erstwhile Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole for daring to demand for weapons to fight Boko Haram terrorists. A news outlet that can infer such dismal of low intelligence on the part of its readers by telling such tales by moonlight does not deserve their respect and has no business being in existence in the first place.

Tragically, these series of misdeeds are not firsts for Sahara Reporters, which has been in the habit of promoting all manner of fake news against the military. The publication has in the past reported falsehood against the army in favour of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Boko Haram and just about any configuration that has the disintegration of Nigeria as its agenda.

For an online news portal whose publisher openly called for a forceful overthrow of a legitimately elected government, under the guise of #RevolutionNow movement, it is no surprise to us that Sahara Reporters and its affiliated agents of darkness deliberately manipulated and escalated casualty figure from the Yobe state incident. This action was not only targeted at derailing the Nigerian military but to also trigger mutiny amongst the troops and cause them to abandon their duties posts for terrorists to overrun the country.

In running this negative propaganda, Sahara Reporters is fully aware that it would create a hive scenario whereby other publications, even the respectable ones, will be sucked into replicating its against the military thereby creating the impression that its lies are mainstream.

Even more appalling is the realization that the dirty contract being executed b y Sahara Reporters is at the behest of foreign  interests that have things to gain from supporting Boko Haram against the Nigerian state. That a publication that hinges its existence on supposedly working for the betterment of Nigeria can become the terrorists propaganda corps is mind boggling.

Not minding its practice of resorting to blackmailing and maligning anyone brave enough to challenge its criminal undertakings, the North East Peace Agenda condemn Sahara Reporters in the strongest terms possible for promoting mischief, falsehood and dishonest objectives with sole intent of ruining the gains so far made on the war against insurgency. We strongly advise that Sahara Reporters and those that make decisions within that organization search for and find their missing conscience so that their actions and reports will be guided by the truth and not the direction dictated by its foreign financiers.

We realize that the temptation to retain steady access to the allure of donors remitted foreign currency is strong, but they need to realize that they owe a stronger duty of doing the right thing to themselves and to other Nigerians, whose lives are being negatively impacted by the lies dressed up as exclusive reports. The damage being done to the polity is what should prompt Sahara Reporters to cease and desist from further maligning the military while tendering unreserved apology to Nigerians for packaging the selfish agenda and vendetta of its publisher as facts for its unsuspecting readers to consume and act on.

The North East Peace Agenda  calls on authorities to step away from their comfort zone of allowing Sahara Reporters get away with mass murder, for that is what its promotion of falsehood amounts to. The mechanism for exacting consequences for the serial misdeeds of the online news site should be activated and promptly so too.

Growing Confidence in War Against Insurgency, By Sunday Attah

By Sunday Attah

There is no such thing as crisis of confidence in the current war against insurgency in Nigeria. If there is, it wouldn’t have been confined to the hush tones of conspirators but would have been evident in reports of the operations of troops.

When Nigerian troops suffered defeat in the hands of insurgents in the previous administration and retreated to other countries for tactical maneuver, the whole world knew that there was a problem on ground that even the military command could not hide.

The contrary is the case with reports coming from the theatres of war and other locations where Nigerian troops have battled the insurgents in recent time.
Unlike in the past where military camps and fortresses were being attacked and subdued at will and communities decimated in the twinkle of an eye, the narrative has changed to reports where troops have constantly repelled insurgents based on intelligence reports, destroyed their bases and sending them fleeing in all directions by taking the war to their bases.

This was the case in Biu, Michika, Maiduguri and other places where the insurgents had attempted to launch attacks.
The effectiveness of military operations at the moment is such that there is no room for the slightest form of compromise to be accommodated, not to talk of engendering a crisis of confidence. Such thoughts exist only in the imagination of naysayers.
People have forgotten so soon that Nigerian troops have recorded tremendous success in the fight against insurgency compared to what was obtainable in the past.

This they have done by changing tactics and strategies and taking the fight to the theatre of war, deployment of intelligence in the face of challenges and by boosting the morale of troops.

The Nigerian Army as well as the Chief of Army Staff, have received awards and recognition from governments and reputable organizations the world over.

The gallantry of the Nigerian troops is to such an extent that neghouring countries which were relied upon to lead in the fight against insurgency after having withdrawn the bulk of their troops from Nigerian soil have been awed by the renewed efficiency, professionalism and determination of the Nigerian troops which has seen them succeeding in the fight unlike in the past where they have to rely on such countries.
Time there was when Nigeria invested heavily on the participation of other countries as a stimulus for fighting the insurgents. But with the success being recorded now, Nigeria has taken back its leadership position in the fight and has paved the way for the success of the much onslaught against troops.

The Chief of Army Staff explained recently that the narrative changed because changes were introduced in tactics deployed by Nigerian troops from a wholly defensive posture to one where the army defend in numbers and conduct offensive operations in smaller packets but simultaneously in different fronts.

People have also forgotten so soon how the terrorists had seized parts of Nigerian territories and proclaim with glee that they are severing it from other parts while hoisting their flags to drive him the point.

It was such a low period for Nigeria that in Borno State alone, 14 local government came under the authority of the insurgents with the sacking of every form of authority of the Nigerian government, such things no longer exists as all the captured local governments and territories have been liberated and there is now an effective local government administration in those places.

Many would recall that Sambisa Forest used to be the most dreaded place in Nigeria where even troops dare not tread.

Insurgents had captured the military training facility as well as the armory and were deploying it to their use as they wished. The area was a no go area for troops then even when it was suspected to be where they kept the terrorists kept their abductees.

The effrontery of the insurgents then was such that they even penetrated military bases like Monguno and Gwoza and seized the training facilities as well as armoury and sent troops and other trainees fleeing for dear lives.

But the Nigeria army under Burati has confined such experiences to the dustbin of history by retrieving such captured military bases and the dreaded Samnbisa Forest from the hold of the insurgents and established a base at Camp Zero.

More than that, the hitherto usual invasion of military facilities by the insurgents have been stopped as the remnants of the terrorists have been so pummeled that they have been reduced to launching attacks on only soft targets.

This has led to an improvement on internal security as many roads that were declared impassable due to the activities of insurgents on such routes have been liberated by Nigerian troops such that many can now travel freely to their destinations without fear of being killed or attacked.
The barricading of major roads by organizations and in worship centers in state capitals has also reduced as people no longer fear conducting business within their premises.

From complaints about lack of sufficient and modern weapons the amry has been able to equip personnel with modern fighting equipments as well as encouraged and supported all NA officers and soldiers who have innovative ideas and competencies that it is now partnering with several companies in Nigeria including Innoson Motors, Proforce Limited and Nigeria Machine Tools, among others, towards the production of light and heavy armoured vehicles, critical equipment as well as protective clothing for NA troops which has led to the development of the TYB Rover, Infantry Patrol Vehicle (IPV) and the Bionbion Helicopter, among several other equipment.
Many also forget there was time when the activities of insurgents had begun to penetrate the hinterlands leaving the fringes of Bor and Yobe and extending to Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Kano, Kaduna and even to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Those that peddle the idea of a crisis of confidence rely heavily on the restraint deployed when measures that extend beyond Nigeria are involved.

But this is misleading because they do not seem to realize that there are various dimensions to the insurgency which Nigeria has no power over. The interests of nations come into play when certain measures are taken which impact extends beyond a particular border. In such an instance, nations have to observe restraint in order not to be seen as infringing on the territorial integrity of others.

Issues concerning prisoner swap especially when  it has to do with international terrorists organisations like ISWAP cannot be determined by the interest of one country alone due to the effect it is bound to have on the global war against insurgency.

Nations have to fight to defeat both internal enemies and those coming from outside and the Nigeria army have done great so far showing that it has learnt from history.

In Romans 13 the bible enjoins all to respect constituted authority. It says,  “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad.”

It is also recorded that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received his first divine revelations for the purpose of legal warfare to repel aggression and protect human rights in Mecca where he peacefully preached the message of Islam to the Meccans for thirteen years until an intolerable level of persecution forced him and his followers to flee to the nearby town of Yathrib (later known as Medina and despite emigrating outside of Mecca, the Meccans headed by the Quraish aristocracy vowed to exterminate the newly formed religious community.

In all aspects therefore the Nigerian army has giving a good account of itself while defending the people and the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

There is therefore no such thing as crisis of confidence as far the war against insurgency in Nigeria is concerned.

Boko Haram/ISWAP: CALSER pays special tribute to COAS, Buratai's continued impressive coordination of troops' offensive against terrorists

By News Proof

The Centre for Africa Liberation and Socio-Economic Rights (CALSER) has hailed Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai for sustaining the momentum and intensity in the fight against terrorism.

CALSER paid special tribute to the Army Chief at a press conference on Tuesday in Abuja.

The Nigerian Army recently announced remarkable success in anti-terrorism and anti-banditry operations across the country.

The Nigerian Army Operations Media Coordinator, Col. Aminu Iliyasu, noted that armed bandits, kidnappers and other sundry criminals were finding it difficult to operate in the country due to the increased onslaught of the troops against them.

CALSER, in a statement signed by President, Princess Ajibola, lauded the COAS whose steadfastness and dedication to the course has rubbed off on his gallant troops, evident in their recent outings.

According to the Centre, this “ is indeed an indication that the war against terrorism would indeed come to an end soon”.

It further revealed that “with the reports gathered, there has been tremendous progress that has seen to the rescue of innocent people, mostly women and children from the Boko Haram/ISWAO enclaves.

“This is indeed commendable and as such the Centre for Africa Liberation and Socio-Economic Rights wishes to state that the Nigerian troops have indeed proved that where there is a will there is always a way because, despite the various conspiracies against Nigeria in the war against terrorism, the Nigerian troops have always given the Boko Haram terrorists fatal and decisive blows in the war front. “

The Centre reckoned that this tremendous gains wouldn't have been possible without President Muhammadu Buhari's concerted effort to ensure that the security agencies are up and running with improved welfare and up to date operational equipment.

“The Centre for Africa Liberation and Socio-Economic Rights salutes the resolve of the Muhammadu Buhari led administration for this display of patriotism and unalloyed commitment to Nigeria,” Princess Ajibola said.

CALSER, however, urged Lt. Gen Buratai not to take his foot off the pedal at this point, especially with the troops in an all-time high in terms of morale.

While charging Nigerians to rally behind the military, the Centre called on the African and international communities not to play ostrich and join hands with Nigeria in ridding the country of fleeing and heavily decimated insurgents.

This, the group declared, has become paramount as a bulk of the arms and ammunition used by the Boko Haram terrorists were supplied by foreign countries.

“ The Centre for Africa Liberation and Socio-Economic also wishes to state that the war against terrorism requires all hands to be on deck in our quest to defeat terrorism. All Nigerians must stay united with the Military as they push for the final decimation of the Boko Haram terrorist group,” Princess Ajibola noted.

“ This is also calling on other African countries to intensify their resolve in the fight against terrorism in the African continent as it must be stated that the threats posed by terrorist organizations in the region is a collective threat as the effect would be felt across the region and ultimately affect our growth and development.

“This charge is also extended to the European Union to do all it can to support Nigeria in the fight against terrorism by ensuring that it sanctions any of its member countries that sell arms and ammunition to the Boko Haram terrorist group.

“ This is indeed the time for African leaders to exhibit the true African spirit by join hands with Nigeria to defeat the remnants of the Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist group. This much is necessary because the strategic importance of Nigeria in the African continent cannot be overemphasized.

“This is on the heels that the bulk of the arms and ammunition used by the Boko Haram terrorist were supplied from some European countries. It must be stated that it is not by mere coincidence that the Boko Haram group continue to enjoy the strategic support of some European countries.

“We wish to state that it is deliberate and a part of the grand plot by some foreign interest to destabilize Nigeria in fulfillment of their nefarious agenda. This is unacceptable and must be discontinued immediately.

“Nigeria shall be indeed great again. The leadership of the Centre for Africa Liberation and Socio-Economic Rights salutes the courage of all Nigerians that have kept faith in the country for the labors of our hero's past shall never be in vain. “
