Watch Video, Photo Of Headteacher Tied, Beaten To Stupor In Public For Raping 3 Teenage Students

A Kenyan head teacher identified as Willy Kiprop, has been disgraced openly for allegedly defiling three school girls under his care in Kapsaos, Uasin Gishu area of Kenya.

Kiprop was said to have enticed the girls aged 12, 14 and 16 respectively with some gifts.

In a video shared by K24TV, Kiprob was tied on both hands and legs and made to lie on the floor while the parents of the abused girls took turns to flog him mercilessly.

Asked why he abused the girls sexually, Kiprop claimed he had an ‘affair’ with the eldest, ‘but molested the two others.’

He claimed he was possessed by Satan, saying: “Adrenalin rush!

“Also, the devil paid me a visit at the time,” he added.

After the caning session, Kiprop was handed over to the police who untied him and handcuffed him instead.

The report added that the police will investigate and charge him to court.

Buhari's Death Report: Presidency Reacts

Buhari's Death Report: Presidency Reacts

Buhari death report
There was consternation in several quarters in Abuja and beyond over the weekend as rumours circulated that President Muhammadu Buhari had passed on at a London hospital where he was said to be receiving treatment.

As the day wore on, the rumours gained ground after a news website published a story that the President was dead. The rumour soon spread like wild fire in different parts of the country with many Nigerians making frantic phone calls to ascertain the story’s accuracy.

The presidency however said on Saturday that there was no truth in the news.

Buhari had on Thursday travelled to London, United Kingdom, after writing to the National Assembly that he would be proceeding on a vacation and that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo would be performing the duties of the President while he was away.

“The report is hogwash,” the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, simply said when our correspondent contacted him.

Adesina also denied the report on his Twitter handle, praying for those behind it to repent.

“Best wishes to all who wish PMB well. As for those who carry evil rumours, may they receive grace to repent,” he said.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, also took to his Twitter handle to deny the report.

Shehu wrote, “He is alive and well. President Buhari is not magical. He cannot be holidaying in the UK and be in Germany, dead or alive at the same time.

“He is unlike a past president, who was at Ota with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and attending the Trump inauguration in DC, being in two places at the same time.”

Shortly after the rumor began to spread on Saturday, our correspondent observed that    the President’s family members were unperturbed in Aso Rock.

A member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Saidu Sani-Fago, who represents Daura/Mai’Adua/Sandamu Federal Constituency of Katsina State also dismissed worries over Buhari’s health status, saying that the President was fit.”

The lawmaker spoke further, “Mr. President is fit and sound. He is taking a 10-day vacation and he wants to seize the opportunity to see his doctors.

“This is normal. He did it last year.”

Similarly, pan-northern socio-political organisation, the Arewa Consultative Forum, said President Buhari is a mortal like every other Nigerian and liable to fall ill.

According to the National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Muhammadu Ibrahim, there  is nothing wrong if the President falls ill.

The ACF spokesman said, “President Muhammadu Buhari is human. He has taken his annual leave and travelled to the United Kingdom for medical check up. ACF wishes him well. ACF calls on Nigerians to support the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.”

In the same vein, the Muslim Rights Concern has advised Nigerians not to panic. Responding to an inquiry by SUNDAY PUNCH, the MURIC Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, stated it was natural to feel concerned about the President’s health.

“But that is nothing to worry about. Many at his age cannot even walk properly, speak clearly or see very well. Every man’s life is in the hands of Allah, including those of presidents, governors, ministers and ordinary citizens. Allah knows those who will die soon and those who will live long.”

“So, how do we know when it is someone’s turn? Only Allah knows that. People are expressing fear about the President’s health because they have little faith. They know very little about the ways of Almighty Allah,” he said.

Akintola, who pointed out that sudden death among the young and healthy in the country was common, said, “Don’t we have Nigerians who have been sick for the past 40 years but are still alive and working? It is about management and one’s turn. It is about faith. Let’s stop the pessimism. Healthy people drop dead without explanations while people who are sick keep hanging on although we are expecting the worst.”

According to him, Buhari can only die at his apportioned time.

“He won’t live one minute longer than Allah gave him. But, mind you, neither will he die one minute earlier. No matter how many death wishes and death wish advertisements,” the Muslim scholar said.

He noted further that the President had lived a fulfilled life.

PHILIP AGBESE: Sambisa Forest and Lessons from the Air

PHILIP AGBESE: Sambisa Forest and Lessons from the Air

PHILIP AGBESE: Sambisa Forest and Lessons from the Air
The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Information, finally did what it should have done a long time ago. It this week took the convener of Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group and former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, co-Convener Aisha Yesufu, spokesman for the Chibok community, Manasseh Allen and Ibrahim Usman on an Air Force mission in search of the Chibok girls.

Taking a delegation on a trip to see things for themselves is a masterstroke that clarified many things but only that in this instance the ministry transacted with the wrong group. One can forgive the offer to BBOG after its serial harassment and blackmail of government officials. It is however self-serving on the part of the group to accept the offer since its presence on that tour was uncalled for and unnecessary because BBOG is not representing anybody's interest other than its members.

The visit should have been for key stakeholders particularly the parents of the girls and other elder statesmen and women not a group of career activists on joyride. That people who took it upon themselves to constitute nuisance had the right of first refusal for the tour has set a very dangerous precedent as blackmail and harassment of government would henceforth be considered as the new normal.

The aftermath of the exercise has shown that it was a wasted venture where BBOG racketeers are concerned. Similar to excursions, the tour should have by now helped the group's members transit from theoretical perception of things to fully appreciate that the real deal is not what it is depicted as in Hollywood blockbusters where the protagonists kill off the antagonists in the last ten minutes of the flick and set hostages free. On the contrary, searching for the missing girls is a tedious exercise considering technological and human limitations that are amplified by other realities in the theatre of war.

Ezekwesili, who is BBOG, would however not have anyone or anything obstruct her attention craving lifestyle. Accepting the invitation to that tour was not without drama, she first set conditions and got her fifteen hours in the media limelight. By the time the guided tour was over, like someone requiring a fix every other time, she craved even more media attention and rushed to grab it before Nigerians lose interest in her and discuss the reality of the scale of logistics needed to search for the girls.
As if for us to finally comprehend the quality of reasoning that powered the government she served in the past, Ezekwesili reduced the efforts to find the stolen girls to trivia of geography. “Dreaded Sambisa is massive. Sixty thousand square kilometers. Eighteen times the size of Lagos State! All of Lagos is 3,345 square km,” she tweeted from her verified account on Twitter.

The BBOG Convener further wrote, "“The famous Camp Zero in Sambisa? Well, it turns out that capturing Camp Zero is NOT equal to capturing Sambisa. It is just a spot in there." Series of other tweets later, she indicated she and her group would be back to the trenches. “We came. We learned. Now we return. To stand! To demand!! #BringBackOurGirlsNowAndAlive!" She declared.

Apparently, if the tour was meant to make members of BBOG see reason and allow the military do their work it did not achieve that. Thankfully that was never announced as the intention since the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed clearly stated that the trip was to give first hand information that will allow for better understanding of efforts being made to find the remaining Chibok Girls.

Before either sides, government and BBOG, formally make their assessment of the trip some lessons are already apparent. First, is that Ezekwesili as the convener of BBOG has proven beyond measure through her comments on Twitter that there is a strong element of malice in the way she and some members of the group are carrying out their campaign. Whether this malice is purposeful or accidental is left to be seen but one now has an impression of a group that is hellbent on harassing government.

Secondly, even as confirmed by the former minister, a lot of the assertions earlier made by the campaigners was driven by ignorance. Placard carrying members of BBOG had been misinformed by their leaders and handlers to think that the entire northeast was the size of 100 football field and Sambisa Forest was the size of a housing estate.

Now that they have realized the enormity of the landmass involved one would expect they will quietly ruminate over what needed to be done but Ezekwesili, not wanting to lose her moment in the spotlight has turned around to say capturing Camp Zero is not the same as capturing Sambisa Forest. Had the Boko Haram terrorists been allowed to continue at the pace they were going before the inception of this administration would their capture of Abuja, the nation's capital, not be as good as capturing the entire country?

The trip has shown Ezekwesili that military operations, even from the relative safety of being airborne is not the same as attending World Bank sponsored business dinners. She cannot use her large following to perpetuate the lie that she is now an expert in military tactics and operations. She must be humble enough to admit that a one day emotional sortie flight is not enough to confirm anyone a pilot or military strategists and such should not come up with inciting or inflammatory comments in the aftermath of this mission.

Even where she does decides to throw decorum to the wind the average person on her group should have by now seen that this woman is overrated. She possibly thought the trip comes with estacode and travel allowance and that she is disappointed is glaring to see. It is natural for her to totally lose it when she discovered governance has changed and there is no more frittering money away as was the case in the past, including under her watch.

If she cannot stomach the reality that much is being done to rescue these girls she can go start another support group, create a bucket list or spend more time at the salon to chat with other women or simply find other avenues to feed her idleness without whipping up negative sentiments at a time the nation is in need of healing.

The same way the Air Force sortie allowed a better view of Sambisa Forest from the skies it has allowed one to have a better view of the convener and the group formed. It is about something else, not the abducted girls.

The games at the on going Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, has been described by fans and pundits as lacklustre and without excitement.

Matches in the foremost continental championship has also produced few goals and with somewhat tepid performances by teams including defending champions Cote D'Ivoire.

Responding to probings on the quality of play in Gabon, particularly, with the absence of Nigeria at the championship, National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rev. Sam lkpea, remarked that the standard of play has been below par, citing the absence of the Super Eagles as the major reason.

" Beyond being patriotic, l think the whole world, particularly, Africa, are missing the Super Eagles. You know, this team is unique and anywhere and anytime they play, the quality of soccer display and the excitement they showcase is unequalled, " Ikpea said.

" Much more, African football are also missing the glitz and glamour and world class supportership of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, "he added.

On his part, Nigeria's Pillar Of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, stated that African football are truly missing Nigeria and the excitement her footballers bring to competitions.

" It is a shame that Nigeria is not participating in the championship. The quality of play and the competitive level of the championship would have been top notch, " Ejidike, who doubles as the President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria, stated.

He went on to add that the Super Eagles would definitely bounce back to reclaim its pride of place on continental and global football.

CESJET Condemns Maiduguri Bomb Blasts, Urges Military Not To Be Deterred

CESJET Condemns Maiduguri Bomb Blasts, Urges Military Not To Be Deterred

CESJET
The Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency  (CESJET) has condemned Monday's suicide attack on a mosque at the University of Maiduguri in Borno state, describing it as desperation on the remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists to remain relevant.

CESJET in statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday by its Executive Secretary, Isaac Ikpa however urged the Army and other security agencies not be deterred but to redouble their efforts in ensuring that the remnants of the terrorists who fled the Sambisa forest are apprehended.

He said the attack was apparently orchestrated to be a major distraction to the ongoing operation to apprehend fleeing Boko Haram fighters and to create the impression that the group remains formidable even when the last of its known bases has been captured by the Nigerian Army.

He said, "As it was during the group's ascendancy to the basest form of evil, in its final decline Boko Haram remnants are again turning on a places of worship because they are no longer able to stage any daring attacks and must therefore seek soft targets. It speaks volumes that a group that had hinged its insurgency on a demand for the strict application of Sharia law could attack a mosque where Muslim worship.

"The haste with which some people gleefully used this attack to justify their claim that Boko Haram is undefeated calls for concerns as it appears that they were in agreement with the terrorists to strike so that they will have justification to continue insisting the terror group is still relevant.

"Boko Haram was never relevant and should be discussed only in context of what punishment is befitting for its members, their sponsors and sympathizers."

Ikpa therefore urged the military to remain focused, ignore distractions, and speed up its pursuit of these terrorists so that their capacity to attempt causing havoc in any part of the country.

He said the pursuit should be expanded to include identifying and prosecuting those that offer support to the terrorists as their crime is no lesser than those they empower to blow other Nigerians up.

According to him, Nigerians must remember that the key stopping these remnants of Boko Haram from regrouping remains vigilance, stressing that better results would be achieved if the nation act as one to rid the soceity of the last of these killers.

He said, "We cannot continue to present a divided front regardless of our religious, ethnic or geo-political differences. The security agencies and the military should be supported to succeed in fishing out those who  escaped from the various camps that were captured in Sambisa Forest.

"We appeal to the Federal Government to improve on intelligence gathering now that the war on terror is in a different phase following the defeat of Boko Haram."

Immediate-past Majority Leader of the Senate, Ali Ndume is not new to parliamentary politics. He was a critical voice in the House of Representatives, before his movement to the Red chamber. Ndume also showed his political dexterity in 2011, when he ran against the factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff and defeated him.

But his political sagacity, was however deflated on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 by his own party members, who until the recent fall out, dined and wined with him. Like a thief in the night, Ndume’s removal came as a rude shock to some people.

For keen political observers familiar with the interplay in parliamentary politics, Ndume’s fall came rather belatedly. He has since incurred the wrath of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his core loyalists, spearheaded by Dino Melaye.

On December 14, 2016, Senators, at an executive session, declined to confirm Ibrahim Magu as the substantive chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). They based their action on a security report, sent to them by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Ndume, had told State House correspondents soon after the Senate rejected Magu that the Red Chamber did not reject him. He had also alleged that the embattled Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. David Babachir Lawal was not indicted by the Senate.

He had stated: “It’s not an order we are giving. The Senate resolution is a recommendation; it’s not a law. What the Senate considered is work in progress because it was an interim report.

“It is the same public that is interested and worried to know what we have done as a Senate about those allegations. The committee issued an interim report and the interim report seemed to indict the SGF, the consequences of that indictment is what they recommended but we are not there yet because the report itself is interim. Okay, we take the interim report, we give the public until the whole investigation is concluded.

“I hear, coming from the SGF that he has not been given a fair hearing, so the hearing has not finished. We can give him time to go before the committee and clear himself.”

His assertion, which sharply contradicted the position of the Senate, did not go down well. Twenty four hours after he made the assertions, the spokesman of the Senate, Abdullahi Sabi, told National Assembly correspondents that Ndume acted alone and that his statement did not reflect the position and views of the Senate.

Senator Sabi had retorted: “The call to national duty is crucial. So I am here based on series of calls and text messages from you about what you thought are conflicting messages. It has become critical for the Senate to clarify issues. The 8th Senate believes in its integrity; we uphold and promote the rule of law which is the basic thing about our democracy. We are committed to doing things differently to stabilize the polity in the collective interest of Nigerians.

“I would like to make the following clarifications. I am holding the votes and proceeding of Thursday. We had two votes and proceeding because we had to go into joint session to receive Buhari.

“Our votes and proceedings are the official records of what transpired in chamber. I briefed you on Thursday to the effect that the senate is announcing that in view of security reports, we were unable to confirm Magu. We then rejected and returned the nomination to Buhari for further action.”

Top political gladiators in the Senate, also hold the view that Ndume’s removal, was part of a final deal reached between members of the Unity Forum and Like Minds in the Senate.

Saraki, in mid last year, set up a committee to reconcile aggrieved lawmakers. The first tranche of the recommendations of the committee, was implemented in the last quarter of 2016, when Senators Oluremi Tinubu and Marafa were given juicy committees, Environment and Petroleum (Downstream) respectively.

But plans to remove Ndume, commenced in mid-December, few days after the Senate embarked on its Christmas recess. Multiple sources familiar with the development, told Daily Sun that Senator Melaye, championed his removal.

It was also gathered that contrary to claims that a meeting was held where APC lawmakers agreed to remove Ndume, nothing of such happened. Instead, signatures were collected between last Monday and Tuesday. As at when Tuesday’s sitting was going on, Melaye and others who spearheaded Ndume’s removal were still collecting signatures.

Sources in the Senate told Daily Sun that Ndume was given an option to announce his resignation soon after the required number of signatures were secured, but his departure from the floor close to the end of the plenary gave the Senators and the Senate President no other option than to announce his removal.

“The Chief Whip and the Deputy Senate President were mandated to persuade Senator Ndume to tender his resignation on the floor on Tuesday but Ndume’s disappearance from the floor gave them no other choice. The letter was submitted and it had to be read once it was signed by an overwhelming majority of the Senators involved,” a senator said in confidence, adding that more than 80 percent of Like Minds Senators signed the removal notice.

Ndume, who was however expected to put up a fight, following his earlier claims that he was unaware of his removal, made a U-turn yesterday and accepted his fate. Instead, he made a long speech which did not elicit any applause from his colleagues.

Ndume stated: “Mr. President, I discussed with you before the sitting that sequel to the event that happened yesterday (Tuesday) in my absence, I went to pray when there was a change in the leadership particularly the one that affected me.

“Just like the APC Senate caucus has the right to say we have lost confidence in you, I think that I should be given the chance to say something on record. I did not do anything wrong to the best of my knowledge, but as I said, since 38 of my colleagues signed it, I agree”.  Ekweremadu who came in Ndume’s defence, hailed his statesmanship and urged him to always render his support to the leadership of the Senate.

Ekweremadu remarked: “Let me on behalf of the rest of our colleagues, thank you for your service to the Senate and indeed to the National Assembly. You were a member of the House of Representatives’ leadership at some point, you came to the Senate and also held very important committee assignments and then rose to become the Senate Leader.

Ndume’s removal may have also signaled an end to the crisis in the Senate. It may have also reconciled the feuding Unity Forum and Like Minds Senators in the Upper Legislative Chamber, against their opponents in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It is unclear whether or not the remnants in the Senate who are still rooting for Ndume will spring up any surprise and take their pound of flesh. Saraki, Lawan and their allies may have won the first round of the long battle, but it is far from over.
