APC Enumerates Buhari's Achievements Amidst Economic Recession

Buhari
Following the statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, which painted the country’s economy since President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office in bad light, the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday listed the achievements so far recorded under the leadership of the President Buhari.

Recall that NBS had had on Wednesday released its quarterly report which confirmed that Nigeria is in recession.

The report had indicated an alarming decrease in the Gross Domestic Product, GDP, and increase in inflation and unemployment figures since Buhari assumed the mantle of leadership.

Reacting to the report, the party in a statement signed by its national scribe, Mai Mala Buni, assured Nigerians that the Buhari-led administration remained committed to resuscitating the economy in the quickest possible time and in the best interest of the people.

Listing the achievements so far recorded under the current administration, Buni said the nation was well on the path to quick economic recovery.

Accord to Buni, “The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has embarked on well- thought economic agendas, policy actions, appropriate fiscal, governance, and socio-political reforms to revamp the economy and tackle the nation’s current challenges in the short to long term.

“Under the new flexible foreign exchange policy introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in June 2016, we now have a single market-determined exchange rate which enables suppliers of foreign currencies to bring in their money and take the same out at market-determined rates.”

APC’s scribe stated that the new foreign exchange policy being implemented will ensure the “economy recovers in the medium to long term.”

He added, “As contained in the assented 2016 National Budget, the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is aggressively formulating and implementing policies aimed at diversifying Nigeria’s economy from oil to other sectors such as agriculture, mining and manufacturing.

“The administration is also proactively tackling increased attacks on oil facilities in the Niger Delta region which has led to disruptions in crude production.

“The President’s shuttle diplomacy has yielded positive effects on the country’s economic policies. As a result, several agreements concluded during the visits are positively impacting on key sectors of the Nigerian economy including power, solid minerals, agriculture, housing and rail transportation.

“The fight against corruption remains a top priority for the President Buhari APC-led administration. In spite of desperate attempts by some partisans to discredit anti-corruption efforts in some quarters, the war against corruption is being won and has been well-received and supported. The generality of Nigerians agree that the days of impunity are over.

“Through the full implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) by the President Muhammadu Buhari APC-led administration, revenue leakages have been greatly plugged.

“The new petroleum products supply and pricing framework which eliminated corruption-tainted subsidy payments has among others greatly solved fuel scarcities by ensuring availability of products at all locations in the country; reduced hoarding, smuggling and diversion substantially and stabilise price at the actual product price; encouraged investments in both Refineries and Retails; provided Government more revenue to address social and infrastructural needs of the country.

“In line with the critical infrastructural focus of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, an unprecedented 30 per cent of 2016 budgetary provision has been committed to capital projects.

“As the administration works assiduously to build a new solid foundation, credible image and pull the country out of the present hardships, the APC appeals for patience and cooperation from Nigerians.”

The is palpable scare at the secretariat of the ruling All progressives Congress, APC, located at Oyemekun road in Akure. in Ondo State as some ritualists have placed Ogun shrine at the entrance gate scaring many ahead of the September 3rd gubernatorial primary election.

The Ondo state chapter of the party has been enmeshed in leadership crisis following the reported endorsement of a governorship candidate by the national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It will be recalled that two weeks ago, some aggrieved party members led by Bar. Tolu Babaleye and Hon. Saka Yusuf Ogunleye had locked up the party secretariat preventing the party chairman in the state, Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, from entering the office.

The aggrieved group were upset over the alleged moved by a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu to impose one of the governorship aspirants in the party, Mr. Segun Abraham, as the party candidate.

They also accused the party chairman of moving around and using the party organ to solicit support and votes for Abraham ahead of the party primary election slated for September 3.

Already, the state executive members have removed Kekemeke over these allegations, but the national body said it is not aware of Kekemeke’s removal.

It was gathered  according to Daily Post that those behind the fetish incident at the party secretariat allegedly did that in order to prevent the embattled chairman from holding the state Executive Committee meeting at the secretariat slated for today.

Kekemeke did not respond to his phone calls as at the time of filing this report.

Ondo Guber: You're An INGRATE, Akeredolu Attacked For Insulting Tinubu

Chief Rotimi Akeredolu
A group, Ondo Collectives for Change has berated one of the governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election in the state, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) for claiming that the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu did not support him during the 2012 governorship election in the state.

The group which is also the campaign organization of an APC governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Mr Segun Abraham, expressed resentment at the comment credited to Akeredolu, the then candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) in the highly pulsating governorship election, said his statement has further confirmed that Akeredolu can’t be entrusted with the party’s ticket.

Akeredolu allegedly made the comments while appearing as guest on a programme tagged: ‘Guest of the week’ on an Akure based station, Positive 102.5 FM on Thursday.

He was quoted to have said: “We can say it here, so it is not new today that Bola Ahmed Tinubu says he want to support Abraham, he argued for him in 2012, but God chose me in 2012. So if he is now supporting him today, that is a repetition and God will still choose me this time.”

A statement issued by the spokesman of the group, Kola Ademujimi said: “The whole world could attest to the fact that that(2012) election was a battle between Governor Mimiko and Asiwaju Tinubu. There was no statement credited to Mimiko and his campaign team where Akeredolu was condemned, because they knew him as a political featherweight and neophyte.

He said: “All their arsenals were directed at Tinubu and the only campaign slogan reverberating on the lips of Mimiko was that Akeredolu was about to be imposed on Ondo people by the former Lagos governor, so that they can loot the state and make Ondo an extension of Lagos political empire.

“Another imperative question to ask the Senior Advocate(Akeredolu) is that, what was his  political antecedent for the likes of political heavyweights like Senator Ajayi Boroffice, Segun Abraham and many others to have stepped down for him at the primary? This was made possible because of Tinubu’s persuasion and the entire world knew except an ingrate like Akeredolu.

Ademujimi added: “I know that this comment will go a long way in shaping the minds of the 3,000 APC delegates that will participate in the Wednesday primary about the personality of Akeredolu and his ilk, who threw jibes and tirades at their benefactors just because political scheming of the moment is not in their favour.

“I wonder if Akeredolu, who woefully lost in his unit in Owo during the election could have won up to ten wards instead of the three local governments he won, if those, who sacrificed their ambitions for him to emerge the ACN candidate had taken this perilous path he is treading. I want to advise Akeredolu to rely on names -calling to whip up sentiments to get the supports of the delegates, because this strategy will fail as delegates will reject him based on his unstable character as manifested in his behaviour and open confrontation with party leaders.”

Meanwhile, Akeredolu, who is a former president of the Nigeria Bar Association, has clarified his statement on alleged endorsement of candidates by some leaders of the party ahead of the party governorship primary scheduled for Saturday September 3.

In a statement issued by Akeredolu Campaign Platform,  the governorship aspirant stated: ” My attention has been drawn to some stories making the rounds especially on the social media linking me with some ridiculous comments and incendiary quotes on the purported endorsement of candidates in the governorship primary. Those who know my antecedents will attest to the fact that I am a  man of courage. For the avoidance of doubt, I didn’t insult any of our national leaders in APC, especially Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as quoted mischievously in the social media…. “

The statement reads further: ” Like I have said in my earlier statement, all our leaders have assured us a free and fair primary.  What is happening in Ondo state right now is that some leaders  are using the name of Asiwaju Tinubu to cause confusion; claiming that he had given them money to work for a particular aspirant.  Anybody doing such cannot be described as a leader.  Asiwaju Tinubu’s last communication on Ondo State Governorship primary was that there will be free and fair primary. “

APC Postpones Ondo Governorship Primary

APC
The Ondo arm of the All Progressive Congress have called off the governorship primaries that were slated to hold this Saturday to next week Wednesday.

This move was made in a bid to diffuse the situation that has been brewing within the party.

Not only was the date was moved, but also the venue with the election now set to hold at the Democracy Park.

According to The Vanguard, the move to the Democracy park came after the Nigerian Army turned down their request to hold it in military barracks.

The state secretary of the party, Rotimi Rahman confirmed the shifting of the primaries to Wednesday next week when contacted by the Vanguard last night.

In related news, it has also been gathered that the delegates expected to elect the party’s representative have gone into hiding to avoid been camped by aspirants going about with cash to buy them over.

Out of 25 aspirants participating in the primaries, only one will be elected and that will come from the decision of 3,000 delegates across the 18 council areas of the state.

Reports indicate that many of these delegates have been moved out of the state so as to avoid any form of underhanded politics or corruption perpetrated by aspirants who might want to buy off some of the delegates.

The Vanguard reports that some aspirants have recruited lobbyists to shop for delegates across the council areas who swear to an oath once they have gotten any sort of commitment from any of the delegates.

BOMBSHELL: Buhari, APC Government Full Of Voodoo Economists - Emir Sanusi Lamido

BOMBSHELL: Buhari, APC Government Full Of Voodoo Economists - Emir Sanusi Lamido
Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Emir of Kano has described the economist in the President Muhammadu Buhari's All Progressives Congress-led government as voodoo economists.

Sanusi speaking yesterday at a lecture he delivered at the second day of the 15th Joint Planning Board, JPB, and National Council on Development Planning organised by the Ministry of Budget and National Planning in collaboration with Kano State government urged the Federal Government to emulate Lagos State that had shown how the economy can develop without relying on a commodity to avoid the pitfalls of last administration.

The Kano Emir said the All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration needs to free itself from voodoo economists at the corridor of power.

He noted that his relief lies on Lagos that had demonstrated a positive role in the way forward for others to emulate. He said: “As it stands today, Lagos’ role on the economic future of Nigeria is critical than what people think of the Niger Delta region.

“We are spending 30 to 40 percent of every Naira we earn servicing debt. “The new borrowings were simply recycled into much higher recurrent expenditure. The GDP was growing largely due to consumers items.”

He said Federal Government can learn from Lagos policies formulation that boost business and attract investors, adding that the Lagos example can bail the country out of its economic woes.

He described as unwholesome a situation where somebody pull through a connection and rake in billions of naira without commiserate effort.

He said: “With my background in the banking sector, and now a royal father, I can sit in my garden and make billions through forex market without sweat.

“This is how most of those you called billionaires made their money.”

I Was Labelled 'DISLOYAL' By PDP For Refusing To Share Edo's Money With Party Leaders - Former Gov. Prof. Osunbor

A former governor of Edo, Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor, said he was declared disloyal by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) his refusing to share the state’s resources to party leaders.

Osunbor, who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 2015 general elections, disclosed this at APC’s campaign rally in Iruekpen, Esan West Local Government Area, for the Sept. 10 governorship election in the state.

He described the PDP as an “evil party”, whose interest was not in the development of the state, but to share the resources among party leaders.

He said that such mentality of the party was the reason for the defection of prominent sons and daughters of the state to the APC, adding that PDP was a “sinking ship”.

“Evil people have hijacked the PDP; the party is a sinking ship, which is why I have told my people to act like the former president, Obasanjo, by tearing their PDP membership cards.

“I have told them to join the party that is interested in their welfare and the overall development of the state.

“PDP has no interest in what becomes of the state and the people, but their pockets.

“This was why they said I was not loyal because I refused to share the money meant to develop the state while I was the governor. That was why they started fighting me.

“The PDP, whether at the local, state or federal level can’t do anything for us, it is only the APC that can make us a proud people through development,” Osunbor stated.

Addressing the rally, the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, said that Edo people, having produced great sons and daughters in various sectors of the polity, deserved the best.

He said that he was in the best position to govern and offer the people the best, being part of Oshiomhole’s success story.

Obaseki promised to not only continue with the laudable projects of the Adams Oshiomhole government but to take it to another level through job creation and human empowerment.

70 members of the PDP defected to the APC at the rally.

UNUSUAL, Fayose Showers Praises On APC On This One

UNUSUAL, Fayose Showers Praises On APC On This One
Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has shed his political garb and commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its position on restructuring.

Governor Fayose, according to a statement by his aide, Lere Olayinka, was reacting to a position assumed by the APC last Thursday during a gathering of the party in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Olayinka, who is Fayose’s special assistant on Public Communications and New Media, said the governor hailed the position expressed last Thursday by the South West APC on the restructuring of the country and the practice of true federalism.

Fayose, however, said “the party must now go beyond playing to the gallery and set machineries in motion to restructure the country.”

Fayose had lent his voice to those of other Nigerians calling for the restructuring of the country, saying it was “strange that the APC, which was at the fore-front of the agitation for true federalism, was now against restructuring as the ruling party.”

Governor Fayose said: “Under the current APC-led government of President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria is returning to full-blown unitary system of government.”

According to him, “it is on record that the APC said at a debate on ‘Addressing the rising insecurity in Nigeria, what is the master plan?’ organised by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), on December 18, 2014, that it would ensure true federalism and ensure adequate community policing through the establishment of state-controlled police so as to curb the protracted security challenges in the country.

“Sad enough, now that it is the ruling party, the APC is no longer talking about true federalism, especially, the state police that it canvassed while in the opposition.”

Governor Fayose, who said states must be strengthened for the country to develop, noted that; “Nigeria developed faster in the 50s and 60s when it was practising confederal system of government, with the regions running its own affairs almost autonomously.

“A situation where there are mineral resources in a state and the state cannot do anything about them without approval from the Federal Government, will not foster the development that we all yearn for.

“It was in this spirit that the immediate past Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government organised a National Conference in 2014 and far-reaching decisions were made by eminent Nigerians during the conference.

Meanwhile, the  resolution made by the leadership of the APC, in the South West, on Thursday, calling for the restructuring of Nigeria’s federalism and endorsing free and qualitative primary and secondary education in the Yoruba states, has been described as a giant step forward in the business of nation building.

Speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, in Ibadan, at the week-end, the publicity secretary of the Yoruba Unity Forum (YUF), Dr Kunle Olajide, said the call made by the APC South West leadership, at  a  meeeting held in Ibadan, was in tandem with the wishes of patriotic Nigerians.
