Ondo APC Guber Election: Tinubu's Abraham Congratulates Akeredolu, Pledges Support As Olusola Oke Rejects Results

aketi
Dr. Olusegun Abraham, an aspirant believed to have been endorsed or anointed by the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu the winner of the Ondo State chapter of APC gubernatorial primary election conducted on Saturday.

Akeredolu defeated 23 other aspirants to emerge the party's flagbearer.

Abraham, while congratulating Akeredolu, in a statement he issued on Sunday, commended the electoral committee for conducting a hitch-free election.

He said, “My special regards and admiration for Alhaji Baderu Abubakar, the Governor of Jigawa State, and his team for their sterling quality and integrity in conducting the APC governorship primary in Ondo State.”

Abraham, who pledged to join hands with  Akeredolu to reposition the state, also assured the people of the state that the APC government would not disappoint them.

Toeing the path of Segun Abraha is Mr. Victor Olabimtan, both hailed the conduct of the exercise, saying the election was free and fair. They congratulated Akeredolu and pledged to support his governorship bid.

However, as reaction continues to trail the election, One of the governorship aspirants of the party, Chief Olusola Oke condemned the emergence of  Akeredolu as the party’s candidate for the governorship poll, faulting the result of the primary.

Speaking through his Director-General of his campaign, Mr. Bola Fisayo, on Sunday, Oke said the election was not a true reflection of the delegates that participated in the primary last Saturday, Punch Newspaper confirmed this

Oke was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2012 governorship election. He specifically alleged that some names of the delegates were removed from the delegates’ list while non-delegates were allegedly allowed to vote.

He explained that the list of delegates handed over to the aspirants at a meeting with the Presidency was different from the list of delegates brought by the Chairman of the Election Committee, who is also the Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar.

According to him, the delegates’ list was shown to the aspirants at the eleventh hour and there was no adequate time to scrutinise the list by most of the aspirants.

He alleged further that about 110 names belonging to Oke’s camp were removed from both Ondo East and West Local Governments while their names were replaced with non-executive members of the party.

He said, “There was nothing we could do at that particular time. I can confirm to you that 80 per cent of those that cast their votes for Abraham came from Oke’s camp.

“The election did not represent the true position of the delegates, the accreditation gave room for manipulation and the whole process was laced with fraud and the result released did  not represent the true reflection of the delegates as non-delegates were allowed to participate in the election”

Edo guber poll: Why Muslims’ll vote for Obaseki - Salihu Isah ...Canvasses a Muslim Chief of Staff

Godwin Obaseki
A top chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and human rights activist, Comrade Salihu Othman Isah has revealed that the APC gubernatorial candidate in the September 10 election, Mr. Godwin Obaseki would be a Muslim-friendly governor if elected into office.

Isah, a fiery journalist and astute politician who is now serving as the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN) enjoins all Muslims to cast their votes for the Godwin Obaseki/Phillip Shuaibu joint ticket on the platform of APC.

The Edo state born politician however debunked the ongoing widespread insinuations that Mr. Obaseki’s regime will Islamise the state, describing those behind such wicked and baseless allegation as fantastically failing politicians who would introduce any weapon, including such imperious blackmail in order to win elections.

He equally advised the All Peoples Congress (APC) to involve Muslims in the state at top level as it the campaign enters its critical stage of the door-to-door unit campaign if his desire is to easily triumph over his opponents at the poll.

Isah recalled that previous administrations in the state have not adequately carried Edo state Muslims along in the scheme of things, especially in the allocation of the dividends of democracy, especially appointments at federal and state levels.

Also an actor and immediate past (erstwhile) National Vice President, Actors Guild of Nigeria (North West zone), Isah popularly known as Hotman believes for the sake of balancing a Muslim should be appointed as Chief of Staff to the next government since we have a Christian governor, deputy governor, Speaker of the House of Assembly, SSG and HoS.

According to him, the fact that the APC candidate want to ensure an equitable leadership which will benefit the Muslim Ummah should not and must not be interpreted to mean Islamising Edo state, where Christians dominate the population.

“It is baseless and wicked blackmail for anyone to think or come up with such spurious allegation as to anyone for that matter attempting to Islamising Edo state where Christians have controlled and still control the population. Besides, Nigeria is secular state and the constitution allows for multiple religions.

The Nigerian constitution guarantees right to religion and right to association as well as right to expression and agitation and as such Muslims in Edo state will continue to clamour for even distribution of our commonwealth. Anything short of this is unacceptable.

“So, those who have decided to introduce this new dimension of dangerous politicking, this politics of propaganda into Edo state, taking their stupid and unscrupulous directionless campaign to this level are only bereft of ideas and having seen the handwriting of defeat staring at them on the wall, simply chose this path of blackmail. The idea is simply to weep up Christian sentiments against Obaseki because the Muslims have chosen to vote enmass for the APC ticket.

“Personally, I have been campaigning and mobilising the Hausa/Fulani, Nupe, Igala and Ebira Muslim voters for Godwin Obaseki/Phillip Shuaibu ticket. First and foremost, due to the fact that it is the surest ticket for progress and development of the state, then for me because Muslims stand to gain a lot from the unique leadership they will introduce.

“I believe Obaseki will make the right adjustment by giving Islamic faithfuls a sense of belonging by righting the wrongs in the past. It will not be asking for too much as equal stakeholders in the process of fostering a statehood, making Edo state stand its own in the comity of states in the country.”

Come to think of it! Is it not crazy for anyone to believe a Christian/Christian ticket would turn around to introduce Shariah or Islamise the state? Whose agenda would they be serving? And what would they want to achieve by doing that? I beg e, the blackmailers should be more ingenious in their dirty game.

Isah went on to opined that a situation where the Christians adopt a Winner-takes-All in the past when appointments are being made into the state executive council and boards of parastatals and institutions at both the state as well as the state representatives at the federal levels should be discarded.

“In Obaseki, we would have a Muslim-friendly governor, no doubt. But Islamising the state under whatever guise, count him or the APC out it. Currently, some of his best friends and associates are Muslims, including the current richest man in Africa, Aliko Dangote. They were together at the stock market (Nigeria Stock Exchange). These are part of the reason his leadership will favour Muslims. So, I implore all Islamic adherents to vote the Obaseki/Shuaibu ticket come Saturday.

“The five pillars of Islam are the Shahada (Faith), Salat (Prayer), Zakat (Charity), Saum (Fasting) and Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca). These are the five tenets on which Islam is built. But if because he observes some of the Islamic dictates, they say he is a Muslim who wants to introduce Islamisation to the state, so be it.

But the electorate should be forewarned before they are hoodwinked, because when some politicians of certain hue are bereft of ideas, to them anything goes”, the ex-chairman of Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), North West zone cautioned.

“So, to me Obaseki is a ‘Muslim’ because he adheres religiously to a part of Islamic dictates such as Zakat (Charity) and Saum (Fasting). Obviously, he observes Salat (Prayers) as well in his own ways. Therefore, he might not be a practising Muslim since he does not observe or complete the five pillars of the religion viz; five daily prayers, he has not observed the holy pilgrimage to Mecca, but he performs zakat, which is caring for the needy, as encouraged by the holy books.

I believe, and indeed sure that Obaseki at the helms of affairs in Edo state would be the best thing to happen to the followers of the Islamic religion, in terms of empowering the Muslim youths and women....

He will also guarantee a more conducive environment for Islam to thrive, allowing adherents free practice of their faith as enshrined in the nation’s constitution.

Obaseki might not be a practicing Muslim; he however adheres to the Islamic principles of faith in his relationship with the Muslim Ummah especially in Nigeria and specifically in Edo state. He believes in the tenets of Islamic and so deserves the votes of Muslims in the September 10 election so he can take the state to the next level from which the Muslim Ummah would benefit greatly.

Ondo APC Guber: Tinubu's Political Maturity, Sportsmanship, Dexterity Worthy Of Emulation, By Bunmi Awoyemi

Ondo APC Guber: Tinubu's political maturity, sportsmanship and dexterity worthy of emulation, By Bunmi Awoyemi
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has further cemented his democratic credentials with the brilliant write up released by him earlier today endorsing Akeredolu Aketi, SAN, and asking the losing candidates to unite behind him despite the fact that his favoured aspirant Olusegun Abraham lost to him by a mere 34 votes in the recently concluded APC Governorship primary.

This singular act of statesmanship and political maturity which is hard to come by in our clime, unequivocably confirms the towering democratic credentials of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed.

Tinubu was used by God to save our nation from collapse when he led a common sense revolution to help PMB get elected after 3 unsuccessful attempts.

Buhari cannot be said to be 4th time lucky. It was not luck. He got elected because he forged an alliance with the Southwest and that alliance would not have seen the light of day without the contributions of the Jagaban Borgu himself.

Hate Tinubu or love him, he is a factor in Nigeria's politics that cannot be wished away or toyed with. If you love him you can call him a positive and transforming recurring decimal in the Nigerian political firmament but if you hate him you can call him a necessary evil in Nigeria's political evolution.

The good people of Ondo state should vote like we the people of Lagos voted on March 11th, 2015. They should vote APC/Akeredolu Aketi, SAN, to guarantee Federal Support. When the Ijora/Apapa Federal Bridge was showing signs of possible collapse, Federal support kicked in and the problem was fixed within a month of complaint being lodged. The Jagaban Borgu has recognized that voting for the APC will guarantee and fasttrack Federal support for the great people of Ondo State.

BREAKING: Rotimi Akeredolu WINS APC Ondo Governorship Primary
The former Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Chairman, Rotimi Akeredolu on Saturday emerged the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the November 26 Ondo State governorship election.

Aketi, as he is fondly called defeated Olusegun Abraham, the aspirant endorsed by former Lagos governor and APC national leader, Bola Ahmed Tunubu, by 669 votes.

It is the second time he is emerging candidate of the party, as he was the candidate in the 2012 governorship election.
Xby CloudScout

In Saturday’s election, he defeated Olusegun Abraham, the preferred candidate of the National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tunubu, by 669 votes.

Mr. Abraham, an international businessman and a one-time Chairman of Owena Motel under Governor Adefarati, scored 635 votes to place second in the race.

He was a governorship aspirant in 2012 on the platform of the defunct ACN but was pressured to step down for Rotimi Akeredolu who flew the party’s flag at the time.

Despite the initial controversy over alleged imposition of Mr. Abraham on the party, the results showed that the election was keenly contested with all the major aspirants showing political strength.
Although 24 persons vied for the ticket, the contest was strictly among Mr. Abraham, Olusola Oke, Robert Boroffice and Mr. Akeredolu.

Mr. Oke pulled some surprises with his performance. He is a new figure in the party, joining the party from the PDP shortly after the 2015 loss to APC in the presidential election.

Ondo APC Guber Primary: We'll Shock Tinubu Today, His Anointed'll Come 5th - Akeredolu Spits Fire Again, Reveal Shocking Secrets

Ondo APC Guber Primary: We'll Shock Tinubu Today, His Anointed'll Come 5th - Akeredolu Spits Fire Again, Reveal Shocking Secrets
Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, a former Chairman of Nigeria Bar Association and the candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN in 2012 Ondo State governorship election has once again taken a swipe against the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying he would be shocked today at the result of the party's gubernatorial primary billed to hold today in Akure, signalling the crisis rocking the Ondo State chapter of the party seems to have no known end over the purported endorsement of Dr. Olusegun Abraham by Tinubu.

Akeredolu in a fresh interview with Punch Newspaper preempted the party's primary election where a candidate will be elected when he said that Dr. Olusegun Abraham, a candidate believed to be been endorsed by the National leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will come as far as fifth position in the race.

The former NBA chairman enraged when Punch Newspaper's Peter Dada mentioned a purported gang up against Tinubu's Man, Abraham. He said

"What do you mean by gang up? I am not ganging up against anybody and I don’t know whether some people are ganging up against anybody. What I know is that I am running for governorship and I am running to win the primary and I will win the primary."

"Gang up for what? Gang up against somebody who has no vote, somebody who is not known, somebody who cannot win, somebody who has no structure? Wherever it is he comes from, he cannot win. We don’t need to gang up against him; he would come in this election a distant fifth with all the support he gets. Even with every support they give him, he would come a distant fifth."

"All I know is that I am working to win and I would win the primary.".

On his recent outburst against Tinubu, Akeredolu did not mince word to reiterate that he was never endorsed by anybody, even Tinubu.

"I don’t know those who are saying so; I don’t know what they mean by endorsement this time around. There was never a time that I was endorsed by anybody. I keep explaining it to anybody that cares to listen that there was no time I was endorsed by anybody. We had a process that every candidate submitted to in 2012. That process is called caucus team. The caucus of the party interviewed and interacted with all those who had interests in being governor and by unanimous decision, the caucus team picked me."

"There was no issue of endorsement. I have never sought anybody’s endorsement. I have never asked anybody to endorse me. But I have informed the leaders of the party that I am running. I informed Asiwaju, I informed Baba Bisi Akande and I informed the President of the country. I informed virtually all the leaders of the party including all the governors."

"I did not ask them to endorse me. I only went to inform them. That was what happened. If I had sought for endorsement, I would have been disappointed. But since nobody endorsed me, there is nothing like disappointment."

"I will not say Asiwaju (Tinubu) supported me, many people will think he did. I knew in 2012 that he mentioned to me that he was the one that asked Olusegun Abraham to contest, so if in 2012, he brought Abraham, his friend, because they are close, then I don’t think I have to say more than that.

"The possibility is there for anyone to think that since he (Tinubu) asked somebody to contest, maybe he was persuaded then and had to be part of the collective decision. I want to believe that Asiwaju must have been persuaded by our leaders. So I went into the 2012 election with the belief that Abraham was his candidate but like I said, it was possible for him to have been persuaded at the meetings when the committee took the decision. If the opinion of the committee favoured me, then there was nothing anybody could have done. We have leaders who can testify to this that Tinubu did not impose a candidate in 2012, it was the decision of the committee."

On he emerged as the party party candidate in 2012, Akeredolu said;

"Let me start from 2012. We operated under the Action Congress of Nigeria and the party in 2012 did not say it was going to conduct primary. In the ACN in 2012, nobody paid money for expression of interest but here, all aspirants have paid N2m each, except the lady among us who paid N1m. In the ACN, nobody obtained any form but here, we have all paid N5.5m each to obtain form to run this election except for the lady, who got it for free. When I say that I was not imposed or endorsed by anybody in 2012, I stand by it."

"I remember the operation and all of us who contested know it too. We attended meetings, not once, twice, three times or four times with the leadership of the party then; that was the style in the ACN. The leadership of the party formed a committee headed by Chief Akande and included all past governors like Tinubu, Niyi Adebayo, Segun Osoba, and probably Lam Adesina and governors of the ACN then."

"So the committee needed to get a consensus candidate, so it was not one person that imposed the candidate. Tinubu couldn’t have imposed me; he couldn’t have endorsed me because like I said, there was a process and it was one that all of us submitted ourselves to."

"In an interview, I said there is a law that says that you cannot complain of an injury when you have voluntarily submitted yourself to the process. In that process all along, if not all the time, the committee usually asked us if we were all prepared to abide by its decision and accept whoever was chosen among us and everybody said yes. So, I know for a fact that in the meetings, because it was not just one meeting, people argued in support of different aspirants."

"If by consensus in that meeting, I was endorsed or chosen to be the candidate, then it was not one person choosing me as the candidate. So it was not one person that imposed Akeredolu on others. I am sure if you ask Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, he will tell you that he did not impose Akeredolu on others. What I’m trying to get at is that after I emerged as the consensus candidate, as a predominant leader of the party then, Asiwaju Tinubu engaged other aspirants and told them why the committee picked Akeredolu. And as the leader of the party then, he spent a fortune to assist us in the election in the state and nobody can take that away from him."

"So when anybody comes around and says that Akeredolu was imposed on others, I always take pains to explain that I was not imposed on others. All of us who contested agreed to abide by the decision of the committee and not that Asiwaju said this is the candidate. In this particular case, Asiwaju had told all of us to go and run for the primary, and then, he came out to say he was endorsing a particular person, when all of us had spent money to obtain forms. There’s difference in the two cases. People must try to understand and many of us should be able to say the truth."

Harsh Economy: PDP The ARMED ROBBER Sympathizing With APC The VICTIM - Lai Mohammed

TheCable - Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, says the call for resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the economy is “preposterous”.

Speaking in Abuja on Friday at a forum organised by the NAN, Mohammed lamented that PDP, the “armed robber” was sympathising with the victim, APC.

“It is very painful in a situation where the armed robber is now the one sympathising with the victim,” he said.

“I read in the dailies that the PDP said that the president must resign because of the economy.

“While we are not going to indulge in blame game, I think we should also be honest enough to admit that we will not have been where we are today if they had done what they ought to do. For the party to ask the president to resign is just a big joke.”

The minister said that although the government was not interested in blame game, it was important to set the records straight.

“Nigeria is not the only country hit by the recession and crash in price of crude, but other countries made savings,” Mohammed said.

“Saudi Arabia today has about $600billion in reserve and this is by planning and saving for the future, which the past administration failed to do during surplus.”

“This is not about blaming other administration, but we believe that one should be honest when criticising.”

Mohammed said the federal government would do everything possible to bring the country out of the
economic situation.

Earlier, Deji Adeyanju, the PDP’s new media director, had released a statement in Abuja, asking the president to resign “for destroying” the economy.

Adeyanju was reacting to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) issued on Wednesday, which confirmed that Nigeria is in recession.
