Buhari's Legal Aide, Obno-Obla Visits NSCDC Boss, Promises Prompt Legal Assistance To The Commission
President Muhammadu Buhari's Special Assistant On Prosecution at the Ministry of Justice, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, today pledged prompt legal assistance in prosecuting offenders to the Nigeria Security and Civil defense Corps, NSCDC.

The Calabar Chief,  a lawyer and renown human rights activist, Obla made the declaration at the office of the Commandant General, Abdulahi Gana Mohammed during a courtesy visit to the commission's headquarters in Abuja today.

The Commandant, during his welcome address, thanked the President's Legal aide for choosing to pay him the visit in the first place. He assured Obla that the command is prepared to work with the "Change Mantra" of President Muhammadu Buhari. He also assured the SA that the command will do everything possible to enhance communication between his office and the office of the SA to the President and Attorney General of the Federation.

Gana Mohammed also reiterated that his command is ready to fight in tandem with the President's vision in fighting against corruption and other acts of indiscipline. He said this to buttress the fact that his command does not need a big budget to enable it fight against corruption and other acts. But that the government should enhance better treatment of staff of NSCDC. He concluded that government should ensure that there is an enabling working environment to areas his staffs are posted to.

The SA to the President replying to the Commandant, assured the Commandant that his office will do everything possible to enhance the pathways through which the command can easily access interventions that will aid their smooth operations. He encouraged the SA on Legal Matters to the Commandant to send memos to his office to enable him forward same to the Attorney General or the President as the case may be. 

Obla assured the Commandant that all serious cases against the highly placed individual in the society will soon commence. He urged the Commandant to have faith in the National Prosecution Coordination Committee for a thorough job very soon.

He also advised the Commandant to look for interventions to support its maritime operations in order to enhance the efforts of the Nigerian Army in the fight against the Niger Delta insurgents.

Chief Obla was later taken to supervise the ongoing digital surveillance equipment of the command centre. 

Obla was happy that ongoing operations in the Niger Delta Region can be watched live through CCTV cameras and unmanned drones here in Abuja.
