EXCLUSIVE: Abolade Babasola AKA Omo Boy Debuts With Emi Mimo

His voice echoes into the air thus drawing audience to the re-awakening of his existence with his debut titled  ‘EMI MIMO/ HOLY GHOST’.  Not cowed by the large audience, his stage act and ability to hold the audience spell bound stood him out like a shining star which he plans to be.
     
Not only this, his unique act to infuse indigenous lyrics with contemporary stuffs makes him a darling of both old and young. Well-come into the world of Abolade Babasola popularly known in the musical circle as Omo Boy.
    
The son of a Pastor and currently a musical student at MUSON in Lagos, Omo Boy who seeks to be  the greatest vocalist and singer of our time simply because he can exhibits many talents in him the way others cannot do such as  write, mix and master songs, is an act to watch.

       
Speaking with our reporter after a performance in Lagos recently, the multi-instrumentalist,  music composer and arranger noted that society should try to discover the talents in their youths very early in life.
“Many are gifted but inability to discover many at the right time, mostly very early in life has killed many talents”. He said.
      
His unique voice that cannot be replicated or imitated easily is another assets that stood him out like a shining star.
   
The young act who started his musical career at a very young age with his brother Dr. Abiola Babasola aka Dr. BABS currently, a Medical Doctor in Canada and his sister, Abimbola Babasola, aka Barrister Bimmy-Ana at  the  tender age of 5 said music runs in his family.
“I started music very early in my life. I could say from the womb just like what those acts before me used to say’ he said amidst laughter.
     
By the time he was 7, the rare gem and multi-talented star has   mastered the act of music production with the help of his brother.
    
Though he has sang at churches, school events, family gatherings etc.; his popularity soared at after being the only artist that got a standing ovation at the City People Awards in 2015 and also HEADIES when he performed his first debut single Titled #EMIIMIMO which means Holy Spirit . (The HEADIES, are an accolade established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievement in the Nigerian music industry. The annual ceremony features performances by established and promising artistes).

“The ovation was so loud that I was pinching my skin to know if it was real or in the dream. People were asking who is this boy? Where have you been? Why are you hiding yourself? Who is your manager? etc.? It was a moment I will never forget in a hurry!
        
Now that the economy is in recession, Omo Boy opined that building ones talent could be one of the antidotes to solve Nigeria’s problem.’
   
“The recession will give many the opportunity to reason beyond what he or she has gone to the school to study. It will allow one to build his talent and look inwards into how he can contribute to the economy. Music is a therapy. Asides from allowing one to make money after a performance, I believe it can make many to be happy too.
    
Looking forward into the future, Omo Boy who was busy preparing for another shows says “Only God can tell the future, but I plan not to relent in making sure I develop my talent, come out with good music that will make  positive meanings and  discover more talents who are out there but cannot come out for one reason or the other”’ He concluded.
