APC Not Worth Political Party At All - Faleke, APC Reps Member Flays

James Faleke
James Faleke, the former running mate to the deceased All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, has described his party, the All Progressives Congress as a mere gathering of politician and not a matured political party..

Faleke made the expression while frowning at the party’s handling of the crisis in the state, stressing that the party is at the verge of collapse.

Speaking in Ogbonicha, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Faleke who is currently a member of the House of Representatives ruled out any form of reconciliation with the governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, who was the beneficiary of the crises that erupted after Audu’s death.

He explained that there can never be any reconciliation process with the leadership of the state government because of the way and manner the national leadership of the party handled the issues that generated after Audu’s death.

According to Faleke, “There can never be any reconciliation in a situation where somebody works from first day to the last day of the month and another person collects his salary, what can only be the basis for reconciliation is for the salary to be returned, that is the only reconciliation.

“We are prepared to go hungry for the next four years, but I can tell you that God sparing our lives, the song will change surely.

“The architects of the crisis in Kogi state started the imminent downfall of our party, APC, the way and manner the issue of Kogi was handled was least expected of a political party. I have heard that one of the cabals said that APC was just a gathering of some people, not yet a political party.

“I want to say that as far as what happened in Kogi state is concerned and how it is affecting the party, I am sure those in government in the state can confirm that all is not well within the party in the state because when you worked and some people are benefitting or reaping the fruits of your labour, they will know that all cannot be well and that is why they are not getting their feet right.

“It is one year after Audu and nothing seems to be moving, it has taken the state more than seven to eight months to do screening and pay salary, people have died through queueing or waiting for their names to be screened and those that had been screened have not collected salary since January this year, you can imagine that certainly things are very bad, we know how much we spend to maintain our people in the state to keep live moving.

“When people work and at the end of the month they are not paid, you can be sure that nothing can go well, so whatever that goes on in the civil service in the state is also affecting the party

“What happened to us during the case and when we lost our leader one year ago and all the battles we went through in the legal process, the way and manner the court judgments came, the issues that were determined have shown that we are not in a party yet, as far as am concerned, until the party at the national level wakes up.

“You know that this party was formed by all of us, we contributed to it, it is not an animal farm, it belongs to everybody, until they realised that, that is only time that this party can have a foot and can move forward. If our people get paid, if our people are empowered and entrenched, i am sure the songs will change, but as it is now, it is bad bad song.”

I Would've Been Made Kogi’s CSO Had Audu Not Dead - Arrested Millionaire Robbery, Kidnap Suspect Reveals

I Would've Been Made Kogi’s CSO Had Audu Not Dead - Arrested Millionaire Robbery, Kidnap Suspect Reveals

Isiaka Zakeri
Punch Newspaper - At 30, Zakeri Isiaka is a millionaire and a frightening one. In political circles in Kogi State, Saturday PUNCH learnt that a mere mention of his name sends shivers down the spines of those who are familiar with his activities.

To Kogi State indigenes, Isiaka is a dreaded political thug, who killed at will. To the police, he is a combination of a daring robber and killer, but to his family, he is the husband to nine wives and a father to 15 children. But the negative descriptions are all inaccurate, according to Isiaka’s statement to the police. He said he was a freedom fighter “out to rescue Kogi State from the clutches of evil men controlling the affairs of the state.”

Asked about a number of killings which he allegedly carried out in Kogi State, Isiaka said those he was accused of killing were his political foes and criminals who were after his life.

According to a source, he got on the radar of the police when he allegedly led a gang that attacked operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Response Team in July 2016 and snatched a rifle from them.

But on October 23, a three-month operation to track him down paid off when members of the IRT cornered him on the Okene–Akure Expressway and apprehended him while he was on his way to Akure, Ondo State.

He was transferred to the Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he promptly gave a detailed account of his operations, which spanned several states.

A police source told Saturday PUNCH that Isiaka’s gang were responsible for many cases of kidnaps and robberies in Kogi and other North Central states.

When Isiaka was arrested, the police recovered 15 rifles along with several magazines and ammunition from him. One of the guns was the one his gang allegedly snatched from the IRT.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that the day the gang snatched the gun, operatives of the IRT were in the state to rescue a kidnap victim, Edward Amedu, being held in a forest camp by Isiaka’s men.

When the gang sighted the police team, he was said to have ordered his men to open fire on their approaching vehicle.

The police source said that in the process, two operatives of the IRT sustained bullet wounds. At the end of the operation, the IRT had lost a rifle to Isiaka’s team.

Two of his men were said to have been arrested at the time of the operation. They later led the police to where the victim was rescued.

Isiaka, a native of Odu-Ochelle in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, allegedly started off as a robber before joining militants in the Niger Delta and later became a political thug, who at a point, took control of his entire local government area.

Isiaka said he was once a farmer, who laboured for eight years till he could no longer endure the suffering and travelled to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he joined the group of militant leader, Ateke Tom.

He said, “I dropped out of secondary school and had nothing else to do but to go into farming at Iseyin, Oyo State. I did that till I went to Port Harcourt and started living with a young man. One day, I went to a joint where I normally smoked Indian hemp and saw some men discussing there. I realised they were militants involved in oil theft.

“I approached them and told them I was interested in joining them. They gave me the beating of my life. They accused me of being an informant. I was beaten for almost one week before one of them, who said he was one of Ateke Tom’s boys, finally said I could join them.

“He taught me how to handle guns, and we burst many pipelines together. I was making almost N3m in each operation. After making enough money, I moved to Abuja and built a house. I bought some cars and started a car dealership. When I left the creeks, I came back with three guns, which I took to my village in Kogi.

“The sitting governor of Kogi State at the time had given guns to thugs in the state. Because these same thugs killed my blood brothers during a disagreement, I had to keep the guns in Kogi so that I could use them to protect myself.”

Isiaka said during the 2011 governorship election in Kogi State between Idris Wada and Prince Abubakar Audu, he went home to “protect” the votes of his people.

According to him, the guns he brought back from the Niger Delta came in handy. He said despite this, one of his friends was killed during the election.

The suspect said, “After that election, I came back to Abuja and continued my business. I am a kind man, I even bought motorcycles for people as gifts. I first married three wives.

“Before the 2015 election, thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress had a clash. I had to come back home and fight on the side of the APC. That was when the APC knew that I had become a powerful person. They realised they needed me.

“During the presidential election, Prince Audu gave me N30m to work for his party.  But my younger brother, Farouk, was killed by PDP thugs in front of my father. He was picked up in his room where he slept beside his wife. They killed him and took his body away.

“When it was time for the governorship election, Prince Audu called me again and mobilised me with N20m and promised that he would make me the Chief Security Officer of the state if he won.

“He said he would make me Kogi’s youth leader and I would even be in charge of collecting revenue on farm produce in the state.

“My boys and I worked very hard. I was almost killed when I was ambushed by a PDP thug. So, I would have become the state’s CSO if Prince Audu had not died.”

Isiaka claimed that when Governor Yahaya Bello assumed office, he had made overtures to him, indicating that he could be useful to his government but got no reply.

According to him, some individuals might have scuttled his chances because of his closeness to the late Audu.

Isiaka said, “The people I fought were PDP thugs, who wanted to kill me and since APC came into power I have called on all my boys who are into armed robbery to stop because I have repented.

“Few weeks before the last governorship election, I communicated with some of my boys from Okene, who used to rob in my area.  I advised them to quit because I discovered that the people of Kogi State wanted change and they were accepting what I was telling them. I knew that if APC won, my boys and I would enjoy.

“But they refused, so, I tricked them. I told them that I had a job for them and when they came to my town, I took them to a hotel. While they were inside, my boys went to where they parked their operational vehicle and stole all their guns.

“I control all the APC thugs in Kogi State, and since I repented, I have been seriously against crime.   Any of my boys who got involved in kidnapping, I personally arrested and handed over to the police but in most cases, the police would release them after collecting money.

The police in Kogi State can confirm this.   After all, I did, the state governor (Bello) did not appreciate my efforts. He believes that I am still in support of Prince Audu’s son, Mohammed, but that is not true.  My loyalty is to APC.”

Speaking about some of the robbery operations he was involved in, Isiaka said few weeks before the governorship election in Kogi in 2015, he and his gang robbed a vehicle carrying a huge amount of money in Abuja.   He said he made over N50m from the operation and that he narrowly escaped death as one of his gang members attempted to kill him.

According to him, one Dan brought the job to him.

“He told me that some politicians were moving money around Abuja and it seemed that the money was meant for election.  We planned our operation, and we ambushed the driver and snatched the vehicle.

“After the operation, I kept three Ghana-Must-Go bags for myself, and I gave Dan and others involved two bags to share.  But while we were sharing the money, Dan, who had a gun with him, wanted to shoot me. He ended up shooting himself.”

The suspect said in another operation in Okene, Kogi State; his gang made N10m.

He said he lost seven of his rifles to the police in Niger State after they arrested his younger brother, who gave one of his guns to a friend. The friend then used it to snatch a car.

According to Isiaka, he gave the guns to his manager for safe-keeping but said when he was away for the election; his younger brother decided to rent out one of the guns to his friend.

“When my brother and his friend were arrested, he led the police to my car stand in Abuja where police seized all the vehicles in it, and they also carried away my seven rifles.”

Despite his situation, Isiaka has a word of advice to the government on how to curtail crime.

Mohammed Audu
Mohammed Audu, the eldest son of the former and late governor of Kogi State, Abubakar Audu has been charged with armed robbery on Thursday at magistrate court, in Kogi

Mohammed was the was last year picked by Mr. James Faleke as his Deputy Governor when his father died on the day of the election in Kogi State.

According to Punch Newspaper, Mohammed was arrested on Wednesday night when he honoured the invitation of the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad at the “A” Division Office of the Nigeria Police Force in Lokoja and he was subsequently detained.

The police charged him to court on Thursday.

Apart from armed robbery, other charges in the First Information Report filed by the police against Mohammed were criminal conspiracy, causing mischief and grievous hurt as well as attempted culpable homicide, all contrary to sections 97 (1), 248, 327, 298 and 229 of the Penal Code.

In the said FIR, Mohammed’s uncle, Alhaji Yahaya Audu, who was the complainant in the case, alleged that he was attacked by some hoodlums in his home at Ogbonicha on August 30.

Yahaya said it was by sheer miracle that he escaped from his assailants, who, he said, were shooting sporadically during the attack.

The police prosecutor, Mr. Otowu Gabriel, told the court that though investigation into the matter was still ongoing, findings by the police linked Mohammed and others still at large with Yahaya’s attack.

The lead defence counsel, Mr. Okechukwu Ajunwa, however, contended that there was nothing in the charge that linked his client to the attack.

Ajuwa urged the court to admit his client to bail in line with the provision of Section 36 (5) of the constitution, and in view of the fact that the police were still investigating the case.

He assured the court that his client would neither abscond nor interfere with police investigation if granted bail.

He said his client was a prominent member of the society, who had no reason to abscond, pointing out that Mohammed was not arrested but he voluntarily went to the police station to honour their invitation.

In his response, the prosecutor said he did not wish to oppose the bail application but would allow the court to use its discretion.

After listening to the parties, the Chief Magistrate, Alhassan Hussain, admitted Mohammed to bail, with a directive that he must make himself available for every court session.

The court adjourned till September 29, 2016 for further proceedings in the matter.

Kogi Guber: Tribunal Throws Out Faleke's Suit, Uphold Yahaya Bello As Gov

Kogi Guber: Tribunal Throws Out Faleke's Suit, Uphold Yahaya Bello As Gov

The Kogi State governorship election tribunal, sitting in Abuja, has upheld the election of Governor Yahaya Bello as the duly elected governor of Kogi State.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Halima Mohammed, who read the judgment in the petition filed by a member of the House of Representatives, James Faleke, threw away the petition for lacking in merit.

Mr. Faleke challenged the emergence of Mr. Bello as governor and asked the tribunal to declare him governor because the election of late Abubakar Audu was almost concluded before he died.

Mr. Bello was nominated by the APC to replace its late candidate, Mr. Audu.

Mr. Faleke ran as deputy governorship candidate with Mr. Audu and they were coasting to victory before Mr. Audu suddenly died.

INEC declared the election inconclusive and asked the APC to nominate a replacement for the deceased. Mr. Bello was nominated and he nominated Mr. Faleke as his deputy, an offer the latter refused.

Ms. Mohammed said on Monday that the fact that INEC declared the first election held on November 21, 2015 inconclusive meant no governor or deputy governor-elect had emerged.

She also averred that all votes cast belong to political parties, “it is the political party, through the instrumentality of its candidate that runs for election.”

She said Mr. Faleke therefore lacked the locus standi to challenge the nomination of Mr. Bello to replace the late Mr. Audu since he was never a deputy governor-elect.

The tribunal therefore, threw away his petition as lacking in merit.

“No right can accrue from an inconclusive election,” she said.

Ahead President Muhammadu Buhari visit to London, a UK  Newspaper has exposed secret London mansions allegedly belong to some corrupt Nigerians billionaires

President Muhammadu Buhari will tomorrow visit London tomorrow to honour invitation by the British Prime Minister David Cameron, to participate in a global anti-corruption summit holding at Lancaster House.

The Mail on Sunday named former Governor of Kogi State, the late Prince Abubakar Audu and Chairman and Chief executive Officer of Global Fleet Group, Jimoh Ibrahim as owners of mansions on Bishops Avenue in Hampstead – known as “billionaires’ row” while former Governor of Bayelsa State, the late Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, was named as owner of a mansion in West Hampstead. It was not clear if the properties were products of corruption and money laundering.

Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Corruption, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, while commenting on the global anti-corruption summit, said Britain had been a bolthole for numerous corrupt Nigerians, including former provincial governor James Ibori, jailed for 12 years in 2012 at Southwark Crown Court for money-laundering.

He spoke with Mail on Sunday at the weekend ahead of the summit. “It’s great Mr Cameron is taking this seriously. But Britain isn’t doing as much as it should, in terms of ending the secrecy and making its banks more accountable,” Owasanoye said.

Critics say the British government is not doing much in the fight against embezzlement of public funds and money laundering even as it hosts a global anti-corruption summit. Cameron has been accused of failing to order Britain’s tax-haven colonies to open up books.

According to the report, almost one in ten properties in Kensington, companies registered in such ‘secrecy jurisdictions’ own seven per cent in Westminster and five per cent in the City. It added that more than three-quarters of the owners of such property use offshore secrecy to hide their identities.

The ‘preferred option for concealment’ were British Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, such as the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Gibraltar and the Caymans, the report added. The Mail on Sunday said it has learned that representatives of dependencies such as the BVI will not attend the summit, while Cameron has ‘no plans’ to force them to make companies registered there obey the same transparency rules as firms registered in Britain.

In Britain, properties bought with dirty money often sit empty for long periods. “Those living nearby have no idea who their neighbours are, undermining any sense of community. Most importantly, those properties are taken off the market, further squeezing housing supply,” the report said. A report last year by the global anti-corruption group Transparency International, based on data supplied by Scotland Yard, revealed that real estate worth more than £180 million has been subject to criminal investigation since 2004.

Yet this represents just one per cent of the proceeds of corruption invested in the UK property market, making the true total £18 billion. It added that more than three-quarters of the owners of such property use offshore secrecy to hide their identities.

I'm a staunch member of this party but I'm currently angry with happenings within! After several complaints, the party leadership seems to be more comfortable in crisis.

Imagine a party with no moral justification for its anomalies in Kogi, as if that was not enough, they cooked another story about James Faleke's right to contest the said governorship election with Abubakar Audu. Where were they when Faleke was handed the flag to contest alongside Audu?

My main issue today is just about the present gambling of Prince Tilewa Sijuwade on the forthcoming bye-election in Ife Central. I'm astonished to see this man as the beast candidate for the election, really it's a gamble.

The main issue with my party is just about fact, the leaders are far from facts hence our repeated failure in most cases. I still remember how we concocted the primary election that brought in Senator Jide Omoworare of Ife/Ijesha zone, it was pure intimidation, never a primary election of any kind. Those that went for the exercise can judge my assertion. Still fresh how somebody that voted against the party's tyranny was beaten black and blue! He was punished for following his conscience!

I'm nobody's friend this time around, we should be factual and reasonable as a party, at least we preach that gospel of good leadership and transparent democracy. How democratic has the APC been?

I'm just waiting for Mr Governor to flag off campaign for Tilewa and let's see how many people follows, the campaign train would be the shortest ever in the history of Ogbeni. I'm sure he wouldn't try such. Those guys out there can move on and complete the job by Saturday.

Everything about my party is angelic and pure, no blemish of any kind, you're as terrible as the devil when you're not with us, but becomes an angel the moment you're for us body, soul and spirit. I'm still waiting to see our legacy in Osun, I'm waiting to hear from those calling the shots, someday you'll be shocked that you're just alone there!

If others can get their house together I don't see APC beyond 2018, the precedence is nothing, nothing but of cheat and deceit. I can't just continue to praise what I can not defend. It's worse than what you can imagine.

We have a way of systematically recycling the expired men over and over, feigning loyalty won't help an inch. We should be tired of deceiving ourselves if the citizens can't decipher the code!
