Of Boko Haram Frustrations And Beggarly Posturings, By Bukar Raheem

Abubakar Shekau
Although, an arrogantly self-confessed criminal weakens the instincts of pity, but agents of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) are invoking this piteous beggarliness in Nigerians. These sadists are desperate, confused, angered and lost in the mesh of the mountain of silhouettes of the reality on the defeat of terrorism in Nigeria by the Nigerian military.

Likewise, extinguished Nigerian terrorists have been plunged in the season of bad dreams. It’s another predicament and a riddle that would never be resolved. Relentlessly tormented by the spirit of evil to do worse things, but impeded by a coercively imposed helplessness which has confined them to incapacitated oblivion and an inability to satisfy their appetite for blood and arson, the camp is in hysteric disorderliness. Terrorists can no longer strike or detonate their lethal bombs recklessly anywhere in Nigeria anymore.

The defeat and end of BHTs in Nigeria and the Northeast is an experience they least expected would come too soon. But it’s real! And it is national anthem that terrorists' reign has been brutally terminated by the Nigerian military and Nigerian soldiers who led the final onslaught have also performed terrorists’ final funeral rites in Sambisa forest, insurgents’ most fortified fortress. It is now a training ground for the Nigerian Army.

Nigerians and indeed, the world know that terrorists in this West African country are licking their wounds in various hideouts and locations outside of Nigeria. They now vainly wish another opportunity to re-stage the previous drama of violence, when they drove in lengthy convoys like state chief executives or sneak into public places to detonate lethal bombs, invade security formations or government offices freely.

Terrorists recall with much sadness their sudden impotence to violently seize whole communities for days, capture and abduct innocent Nigerians in Gwoza, Baga, Chibok, Damaturu, Biu, Pulka, Mallam Fatori, Gujba, Konduga, Giwa, Abuja or Kano among others.
More to insurgents sorrow, Boko Haram insurgents recount with deepening displeasure the curtailed laxity to foist their insignia in captured territories under Nigerian sovereignty, where they dethroned traditional rulers. And thereafter, mockingly release on Youtube videos footage of threats and obscene pictures of the heinous crimes they have committed against humanity. They are powerless to attack military formations, which was their favorite past time before May 2015.
While terrorists have been absolutely decapitated and the few survivors have taken the “wise” decision of fleeing Nigeria; the agents are more pained at the stark reality of the termination of terrorism in the country. These soulless agents and sponsors are extremely vexed at the abrupt termination of the “business” of terrorism and the treasures they savoured when the ignominious and reprehensible crime of terrorism festered.
Like their terrorists foot-soldiers, these agents and sponsors are angered about the sudden end of the feasting on the blood of the innocent in Nigeria. Their spirit is more dampened with the preparedness of the Nigerian army as reflected in their Operation Crackdown, in the Northeast to crush any remnant of insurgency. And there is no hope that the reign of terror would ever germinate anywhere in the country again.
So, the agents are pulling the last strings to emptily reassure insurgents, through fake news of renewed terror attacks mainly to create fear and cause confusion. This is after these agents have failed to convince runaway terrorists to resume their usual atrocities, having been completely scared to the pants by the military.
But unfortunately, these terrorists agents and sponsors have also laughably famished fresh ideas to prosecute a war they held dear to their hearts. And they have resorted to old tricks and weak antics in the desire to animate a dead war or give it the semblance of enlivenment. They have resurrected to the cyberspace terrorism war against Nigeria. They scheme to rubbish the prevailing peace and rebuilding process in the Northeast by circulating in the media fake news about Boko Haram terrorists fresh exploits. Social media platforms are used to irregularly publish awful, but fake figures of terrorists’ strikes in the Northeast, to feign an imagined strength of insurgents.
But it is hardly making any sense or impact anymore to anybody, as most discerning Nigerians who observed them over time, noticed the fakeness and now gleefully ignore their doomed propaganda. Funnily, terrorist agents and sponsors have forgotten this soon how the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai, the ombudsman of the counter-insurgency campaigns detected the cyberspace aspect of the Boko Haram terrorism war quite early in the day. Buratai know the nuances of such wars and never spared any opening to happenstance.
Measures were not only hatched to counter terrorists’ vile propaganda, but the Nigerian Army through its Directorate of Public Relations also outclassed terrorists in the field of cyberspace terror war. American Secretary of States, Mr. Rex Tillerson, applauded Nigeria for the adoption of this approach recently when he met with about 68 countries of the world to dialogue on strategies to end terrorism in the world. He emphasized fighting of terrorists very hard on the cyberspace like in the battlefield.
In Nigeria, the army public relations pointedly outsmarted these terrorists’ agents and the admission of defeat by insurgents is the aggregation of these variables and dimensions of the war manifest in the triumph of Nigerian troops nay Nigerian masses.
Therefore, it is inconsequential to relapse into the known and dismantled or countered strategy of cyberspace terrorism hypes. Unfortunately for terrorists, communication has been simplified and made easier. Nigerians independently verify such reports on same social media platforms, only to discover their fakery and none is panicked or unperturbed by it. In addition, Nigerians have vested unshakeable trust in the competence and reliability of the Nigerian Army to confront and subdue insurgents within or externally in the case of any emergency.
Just recently, attempts to instill fear in the minds of the people in order to confer beggarly relevance on themselves, terrorists' agents claimed in a syndicated news report on social media that BHTs attacked Pulka a village in Borno state and abducted 22 women. But the attributions of the patently discreditable news story were doubtful as much as the contents itself.
The reporter attributed it to an unidentified source in Bulama. But could it be that the victims of terror attacks in Pulka had no tongues and voices to speak about their dilemma and that’s why a quoted anonymous source in Bulama, another location entirely had to cry more than the bereaved?
But even before the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman, faulted the report as false, there were counter postings on social media platforms discountenancing the news as fake.
But Pulka, one of the villages in Gwoza, which was captured by terrorists, but liberated in 2015 is not under any threat of terrorism as enunciated by the fake news anchored by terrorists agents. It is yet another example of a bad outing by terrorists agents who have poor skills at fabricating lies and pushing cheap propaganda for public consumption. It is nothing more than the musings of a terror sect whose soul, sound and nucleus have been demystified, deflated, pierced with an arrow and defeated by the Nigerian Army.
However, Nigerians must not go into slumber, but remain vigilant. Desperate agents of BHTs are still lurking in dark corners and ever willing of stirring fake alarms, the only weapon at their disposal currently. But public vigilance can expose these agents to security agents who will instantly act to defray their potency to prolong the fast recovery of Nigeria’s Northeast from the claws of terrorism.
Buratai has consistently preached this as the only way Nigerians can prove and justify to the army, their gratitude for the enormous sacrifices in defeating terrorists in Nigeria. It will further prove that Nigerians cannot only win the peace and defeat all terrorism propaganda, but sustain the victory for the development and prosperity of this great black nation, Nigeria.

We'll Takeover Africa - Shekau Claims In New Video

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau
Abubakar Shekau, the dreaded Boko Haram leader has appeared in a new video released on Friday urging his fighters to persist in their insurgency against democratic governments until the sect takes over most countries in Africa and enthrone Sharia particularly in Benin, Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Nigeria and Mali.

In the video, he displayed identity cards, arms, ammunition and other equipment purportedly seized from the Cameroonian Army.

Shekau, who maintained that his men will not back down, also refuted recent attacks in Libya and threatened some world leaders.

The 27-minute footage, sent to media houses in Abuja by a journalist with known contact to Boko Haram, has Shekau thanking his loyal followers.

Three days ago, the sect released a video claiming to have killed some three men allegedly working for government as spies..

Boko Haram and its Foreign Conspirators, By Bob-Manuel Molokwu
This is not one of the topics I like writing on. However, I am constrained to lend my voice because of the wanton destruction that has taken place in North-eastern Nigeria since 2009. As it stands, the Boko Haram insurgency has claimed over 100,000 lives and succeeded in displacing over two million people from their various homes. On a daily basis, the picture of gloom pervades the North-eastern states of Nigeria.

In the midst of the confusion, one might want to ask how the Boko Haram group started, who were the leaders, sponsors, and followers. Jama’atul Alhul Sunnah Lidda’watiwal jihad is the name, which translates to “people committed to the propagation of the prophet’s teachings and jihad.” This was way back in 2002 where they operated from Borno and Yobe states.

But not much was heard about the sect until in 2009 when a discrepancy erupted between them and the law enforcement agents which culminated in the death of its leader, Mohammad Yusuf. Mohammad Yusuf in his teachings had faulted the participation of most leaders of northern states in the affairs of the country. He saw it as an illegitimate, non-Islami and too secular for their “religious inclinations and preached a doctrine of withdrawal, and declared that western education is evil. (Boko Haram).

And since then, there has been no let back on. The Boko Haram sect grew from strength to strength. And it changed tactics. At some point, it became so sophisticated that it engaged the Nigerian military weapon for weapon. It was even rumored that the Boko Haram sect boost of more advanced weaponry than the Nigerian Military with an unlimited amount of heavy weaponry, vehicles, bombs, and ammunition.

But how does Boko Haram fund its activities? Where do they acquire such sophisticated military hardware? Who taught them how to operate this military equipment? Who services the equipment? How do they get supplies? These and much more are questions that point to the fact that there are indeed foreign sponsors of the sect against Nigeria for some reasons I will enumerate below.

As a start, it is evident that there are some foreign conspirators with the Boko Haram sect. And I will start with Nigeria’s French-speaking neighbors Cameroun Niger Republic, Chad Republic, Benin Republic. There are no way supplies would reach Boko Haram fighters without some collaborators from these countries. For example, there are videos posted online that shows Boko Haram fighters maneuvering Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), freely operating anti-aircraft machine guns, etc. After watching the videos, you might want to ask some pertinent questions.

The second issue is paying for ransom by the French government in securing the release of its citizens kidnapped. It is estimated that since 2013, Boko Haram was paid N500 million ($3.15 million) to free seven French hostages kidnapped in February 2013. $12 million was also paid to Boko Haram before releasing a French Roman Catholic priest Georges Vandenbeusch captured in November 2013. The Cameroonian authorities also paid Boko Haram insurgents at least $400,000 in ransom to secure the release of Francoise Agnes Mouskouri, wife of Vice Prime Minister Amadou Ali.
Put together; we are talking about $16 million dollars the Boko Haram sect has received from French authorities in the form of payment for ransom. Is this curious? That is not all; there were also instances where weapons are also delivered to the sect in exchange for hostages. And this has been going on in active collaboration with some elements from neighboring countries.

In my opinion, the United Nations has to come in by carrying a full-scale investigation into the activities of Boko Haram sect in Nigeria, and especially the involvement of the former French colonies in the whole episode. For some reasons, I suspect foul play in every move of Idriss Deby, the president of Chad in the entire episode. A red flag was raised for me when President Idriss Deby came out to say that the Boko Haram sect now had a new leader sometime in 2015. He specifically said Abubakar Shekau, had been replaced by Mahamat Daoud, and that Mahmat Daoud is open to dialogue.

From the preceding, it is evident that there are indeed foreign sponsors of the activities of the Boko Haram sect. If I should use the oil deposit in the Lake Chad basis as an example, it might explain the interest of France in ensuring that the Boko Haram crisis continues unabated. For a start, Between 2011 and 2013 the Nigerian government provided $240 million to facilitate oil and gas exploration activities in the Lake Chad Basin and other northern hydrocarbon basins, including the Benue Trough, Bida Basin and the Sokoto-Rima Basin in the north of Nigeria, but terrorism continues to push forward the mission of Nigeria to start drilling for commercial quantities.

On the other hand, the Boko Haram insurgency has conveniently provided Chad, access to oil under Nigeria’s soils through 3D oil drilling from within its territorial borders. Chad exports to a permanent FPSO –Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading vessel, which can store over 2 million barrels of oil and processed oil shipped through tankers to the international refineries at the Port of Le Havre in France. Does it now make sense why the Boko Haram crisis won’t end anytime soon?

However, this must stop. The international community, especially the United Nations and the International Criminal Court has to come in because the level of destruction in the Northeast Nigeria is unimaginable. Indeed, our oil has become a curse to us, rather than a blessing. And our neighbors should be good friends if peace must continue to reign in Africa.

The various stakeholders in the fight against Boko Haram’s terrorism have tried their best in one way or the other, but there is more they have to do given the new round of information about what now drives the group. The dynamics threatening to keep the insurgence in place even after the group’s fighters have been sacked from Camp Zero in Sambisa Forest cannot be easily ignored.

The President Muhammadu Buhari led federal government did much, first in the appointment of committed military chiefs to lead the onslaught and secondly for giving these chiefs the political support needed to succeed. It aided them in the best way possible when of became obvious that international help may not be forthcoming because some of the countries that should have pitched in with some assistant did not share our view of giving the world one more country free of terrorism.

In the north east, the axis most ravaged by the insurgency, Borno state government under Governor Shettima proven he is committed to seeing the last of the terrorist. The governor has proven to be a rallying force for stakeholders in the state as successfully created a fusion of political, traditional, religious and civil society leadership to wear down the influence the insurgents have built for themselves under their doctrine of fear.

Most important is the Nigerian military, notably the Army, which has taken the fight to Boko Haram not just in towns and villages where they had oppressed local populations but even right inside Sambisa Forest from where the extremists were sacked in what is today regarded as the actual final site of the terror group. The Army achieved the feat in the face of multiple odds, which would have caught the terrorists off guard as they had failed to reckon with troops’ gallantry that was the result of purposeful leadership.

The terrorists, whatever is left of them, are refusing to accept the reality of defeat. They have continued to attempt attacks that are meant to pass as spectacular or disconcerting enough to create the impression that they are still relevant in the scheme of things. While most of these attacks are usually thwarted owing to improved intelligence gathering and vigilant troops and other security operatives, the few instances where explosives borne by children are detonated have dampened the readiness of displaced persons to return back to their homes. If they are not returning home then they are stuck in camps where they become valuable propaganda bits for those that are propping the insurgency in place in addition to being sitting targets for drug addled-brainwashed bomb bearers.

It is the incentive driving these Boko Haram beneficiaries that the federal government, Borno with other state government in the region and of course the military should interrogate. An understanding of the impetus for these merchant of death would prove useful in developing the next phase of response that would remove the last vestige of the Boko Haram abomination from our midst. In this several scenarios are possible.

First, the political equation of the areas ravaged by Boko Haram activities has been reconfigured in a way that new power blocs emerged – either the result of depopulation as people fled their ancestral homes or from population distortion that now make the displaced persons’ camps into attractive constituencies. Those that had benefitted from this migration and are currently in one office or the other will not want the insurgency to end it at least not before the next elections. Authorities must therefore look into this occurrence to see how this incentive for supporting Boko Haram can be taken away and any culprit treated as prescribed by law.

Similarly, there is money to be made. Until recently when the army declared some alleged Boko Haram collaborators wanted and subsequently questioned them some milestones were not recorded in the counter terrorism war. These people had posed as negotiators who could bring the insurgents for talks but it turned out they were mostly about the money to be made. There are others getting monetary benefits for each day the insurgency is reckoned as officially active. There have even been instances of stealing or diverting funds and items meant for victims and displaced persons. People had arranged actors to pose as repentant fighters. To the extent that these frauds are possible only when Boko Haram is on rampage then some people will continue to finance the group and consider it investment that would yield returns. It is up to the government and the military to ensure that prison terms are the only returns on this kind of investment.

Thirdly, as sick as this will sound, there possibly is a twisted logic to some folks believing in their right to subjugate others. It does not matter whether they use religion in its perverted form or terrorism without a thought for the resulting casualty. What matters to these set of people is that unnecessary capacity to see themselves as higher authority to the larger population. They have that megalomaniac tendency to simply want others to live in dread so deploy their clout – religious, economic and political – to ensuring there is no peace within their sphere of influence.

Not to be left out are those who think it is too late for them to stop sponsoring Boko Haram since they have already signed against the country and humanity. They belong to the category that must equally be stopped because their past time has become an addiction that does not seek logic to continue replicating evil.

These and many more possibilities are what the government and military must get behavioral experts to interrogate and research on their behalf. Even more efforts must be deployed to fashioning responses to each identified aberration. The military and indeed Nigerians have sacrificed too much in human cost and blood for a few sick minds to keep us away from ridding this country of Boko Haram.

Abubakar Shekau: Surrender Now, Terrorism Is Over, By Israel Abiodun

Abubakar Shekau: Surrender Now, Terrorism Is Over, By Israel Abiodun

Abubakar Shekau
I have come to identify history, as a phenomenon which replicates itself in other parts of the world. Sambisa Forest in Nigeria’s Northeast and its Camp Zero, Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) most fortified enclave in Borno state, strikes some semblance with the famed Berlin Bunker (Führerbunker) of the defeated Nazi leader, Adolf Hitler who ignited the senseless World War II. Hitler retreated into it for protection against air-raids when it became obvious his military might could not withstand the venom of Allied Forces against him.

I saw a replication of history, when the current incarnation of BHTs factional leader, Abubakar Shekau, retreated into Sambisa Forest and took refuge in its innermost sanctuary, Camp Zero in the face of ceaseless firepower from Nigerian troops. It also reminded me of the jitters that gripped Hitler in January of 1945 when his Nazi regime’s failing military campaigns lost steam and unable to withstand the Allied Forces that moved ferociously against his empire.

History tells us Hitler relocated into the underground cave of the bunker with most of his henchmen. The Berlin Bunker, a thick-walled massive structure, about 50 feet underground, beneath the chancellery and designed as a protective shield from the air-raids of Allied Forces, was a luxurious island unto itself with everything a man needed inside it. Yet, it was demystified by Allied Forces and the famed Hitler killed himself rather being captured alive, when he knew the criminality against humanity could not be sustained.

These images compellingly strike one as being replicas of Abubakar Shekau’s Camp Zero in Sambisa Forest. I can still imagine embattled terrorists murmuring in hushed, suppressed tones, phrases like, “the enemies are here! Phew! these bloody infidels. They have entered Sambisa oooh!. Let’s head to Camp Zero! Camp Zero!! Camp Zero is the only option.” I was told that was the scenario, when Nigerian troops, like Allied Forces, barricaded the dreaded Sambisa forest and militarily invaded its dark copses in search of terrorists and their leaders.

I guess, Shekau and his outlaws erroneously thought it is the same tea cup party from a previous era, so his comrades-in-evil attempted to fight back, by opening fire on the army troops. But the feeble counter-attacks soon fizzled out and faded, as soldiers mercilessly descended on terrorists. Dozens were killed in the exchange of gunfire, some captured, others escaped with gunshots wounds and have melted into various cities, communities and villages in Nigeria and neighbouring countries in the frenzy to escape.

The successful military expedition in Sambisa forest marked the end of terrorism and the defeat of Abubakar Shekau, his demonic gang of Islamic jihadists and Boko Haram insurgents. Like himself, residues of his adherents have no more shelter or a fortress that served as bulwark against soldiers and a place that afforded terrorists the luxury of retreating to hide and plotting fresh attacks on innocent Nigerians. For me, no blow to a rebellion can be as painful and fatal as this.

I restrain myself from mocking Abubakar Shekau for the pitiable mess he has found himelf in after these serial misfortunes. But that’s the difference between me and him. He can only hunger and thirst for my passion of love for humanity and sanctity of human life; while in contrast, Shekau is a soulless breed of a devil incarnate and blood spiller, whose end was foretold since July 2015.

Since President Muhammedu Buhari (PMB) ascended the throne as Nigeria’s President and re-structured/re-organized the Nigerian military, BHTs knew no peace. Precisely, the appointment of a dogged fighter, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai, as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) with a strict charge to end terrorism in Nigeria, heralded and foreclosed the era of Shekau and the end of terrorism in the country. And from that point, we have only watched on TV and listened to terrorists in Nigeria recount tales of woes.

If other Nigerians are on the same plane of thought with me, I think Abubakar Shekau has become the serial symbol of the misfortunes and the crumbled Boko Haram sect. In the depth of my heart, he should surrender himself to the Nigerian Army and renounce his devilish acts.

And I am convinced on several counts to offer him this sincere, free advice. To begin, most Nigerians, like me, think, apart from the fall of Sambisa forest, his most trusted haven of bulwark against security forces, which excited him so much with the sobriquet “dreaded,” nothing in the senseless Jihadists war Shekau and followers unleashed on Nigerians is anywhere palpable to encourage them to forge on.

Factional leader Shekau, assumed leadership of the satanic jihadists group, after the demise of its founder and pioneer leader Muhammad Yusuf. But since August 2016, he has come under severe leadership tussle and revolt within. We are aware that the sect became more radical in killings and raids, under him when it was a one united bloc.

I noticed that Shekau’s atrocities festered uninterrupted under a complacent and docile government of the pre-May 29, 2015 era. So, he brazenly engaged in massive gruesome acts of bloodbath and arson through detonated bombs. He aggressively recruited young boys and girls in the Northeast, most of whom were brainwashed through charms to accept conscription as agents of death. He openly, through his videos, professed affinity and sponsorship from Iran’s Islamic State (IS) terror linchpins and swore allegiance to it in March 2015. To me, he declared himself, an enemy of Nigeria and passed a death sentence on himself.

But a shocked Shekau woke up to the unpleasant news in August of the same year that his former Public Relations Officer (PRO) Abu Musab al-Barnawi and son of the founder of Boko Haram sect, has been announced as his replacement to head the West African Province of Boko Haram. The news posted on IS Al-Naba online weekly magazine confirmed it.

Al Barnawi immediately took control and asserted the powers of his leadership. Among other things, he pulled off a large chunk of BHTs adherents from the Shekau’s faction. I know Al Barnawi was divinely touched to realize his former boss Shekau mindlessly and repeatedly violated core Islamic principles and creeds in persecuting the Jihad war. Almighty God intervening on our behalf, one would say.

Soon, Shekau emerged on the scene to re-claim his leadership of the Boko Haram sect, declaring himself as still the authentic leader. He branded Al Barnawi as a coup plotter against him, whose group prevented him from communicating with IS leader, Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Oh! This house has fallen.

"I was asked to send my ideology in writing to the caliph but it was manipulated by some people in order to achieve their own selfish interests,” Shekau licked his wounds in lamentation.

I appreciate the Nigeria Army today because I know Shekau and the vestiges of his criminal gangs have no prospects of continuing with their heinous crimes against humanity anymore. Most Boko Haram terrorists or subordinate commanders to Shekau have either been sniffed out of life through battle fields combats or have surrendered and denounced the war. I understand it as an empty house for Shekau.

The few remnants of Boko Haram foot soldiers have gone into hiding and the vigilance and alertness of Nigerian soldiers and the public is rewardingly netting most of them into detention. Shekau himself narrowly escaped capture in Sambisa Forest, as recently revealed by the COAS, Gen. Buratai. The searchlight of Nigerian troops and security surveillance teams is consistently beaming on them in the hideouts.

Joyfully for Nigerians, the end has finally come for Shekau and his followers and terrorists. With no secured fortress to take protective shield; the nightmare of scattered remnants of followers daily arrested; Shekau himself on security surveillance and discarded by IS, the only option left for him, in my estimation, is to bargain for a peaceful surrender.

I have no doubt that Nigerians of all religions and ethno-political mix have come to perceive the ideologies espoused by Shekau’s Boko Haram as inimical to their religious beliefs and a threat to the existence of humanity not just in Nigeria, but the whole world. So, it may interest Shekau to know that he is being haunted by both known and unknown foes and faces world-wide.

No matter how long he hides from forests to caves and countries to countries, it’s rather a prolongation of doomsday because he will eventually be caught. But giving up the fight and surrendering to the Nigerian Army now might invoke some sympathetic considerations for him. It is one of the most formidable options at his disposal. But it is my candid advice that, like Adolf Hitler, if this option does not appease Shekau, he can also commit suicide like Hitler, because no wise rebel leader continues with an apparently failed mission.

Why We BOMBED UNIMAID - 'Dead' Shekau Reveals In New Video, Says Again "I'm Alive"

Shekau
Leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, has claimed responsibility for the bomb attack at the University of Maiduguri, Borno State.

He said that the mosque was attacked because of its “ungodly” acts.

In an audio messagge posted on YouTube, Shekau also dismissed claims that the Nigerian army killed his members in Sambisa forest.

According to Shekau, “The bomb that happened this morning, it’s my people. Don’t deceive people that it’s a mosque, how would you build a mosque and do ungodly things in it.

“We are angry with Nigeria. You didn’t kill anyone in Sambisa. We are praying that we don’t change; Koran is our teacher; this is the message we are sending to you. Are you [Buhari] as powerful as God?

“You should know it’s Shekau talking and I’m alive and it’s we that did it, even if King Pharaoh repents, we will not accept it.”

At Last, Army Found Fugitive Shekau, How He Escaped From Sambisa Forest Revealed

At Last, Army Found Fugitive Shekau, How He Escaped From Sambisa Forest Revealed

A military source who asked not to be named revealed the whereabout of the fugive Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau has been sighted and will soon be capured, report by Punch Newspaper revealed

The source revealed Boko Haram jihadists have been “tremendously weakened and are trying to avoid confrontation … by hiding in some obscure locations.”

Islamists routed from Sambisa have reportedly fled to areas on the edge of the forest, islets on Lake Chad as well as villages on the Cameroon border.

“They were sighted in large numbers in … the Kala-Balge area,” said a vigilante helping in the fight, referring to a region near Cameroon.

The head of the fishermen’s union in Borno state, the epicentre of Boko Haram’s seven-year insurgency, said some fighters had regrouped on Lake Chad, which straddles Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon and Chad.

It provides the jihadists with a “convenient sanctuary”, with its 400 islets covered with dense vegetation that makes aerial detection and ground operations dangerous, Abubakar Gamandi said.

“The islets are between one and two square kilometres and the fresh water and abundant fish in the lake make them habitable,” said Gamandi, who has fished in Lake Chad for 40 years.

Abu Musab al-Barnawi, the leader of a Boko Haram faction recognised by the Islamic State group, has already been living on the lake since his group split from Shekau‘s leadership in August, residents and vigilantes say.

Should Shekau and his troops move there, it is unclear whether the two rival factions will end up battling each other.

– The next battleground? –

Cameroonian troops have intensified their operations along their nation’s frontier with Nigeria, where fleeing Boko Haram fighters have also sought refuge, according to a vigilante in the Nigerian border town of Banki.

“Cameroon has upped security along the border which has forced fleeing Boko Haram (fighters) to head to Kala-Balge, where Nigerian troops are deploying”, said the vigilante, who did not want to give his name.

“Kala-Balge may be the next battleground,” said Umar Ari, a local trader.

According to Yan St-Pierre, an expert on jihadist groups, cooperation between west African governments fighting Boko Haram has “vastly improved since September.”

However, “the army’s biggest problem is to secure the areas it recaptures from Boko Haram,” he added, referring to a spike in suicide and other guerrilla-style attacks unleashed since the jihadists began to lose ground.

Even though the Nigerian authorities have claimed several times that the end of Boko Haram was imminent, the conflict has merely continued to shift and “the army remains far from gaining the upper hand.”

– ‘A matter of time’ –

How Shekau escaped from Sambisa remains a mystery.

He “might have escaped in the intense battle to take over Camp Zero,” an army source told AFP, referring to the last jihadist bastion in Sambisa Forest to fall to Nigerian troops.

He has since been spotted in Pulka village near Gwoza on the Cameroonian border — and is currently believed to be hiding in a forest in Kala-Balge, a security source said.

Shekau‘s fighters are believed to have taken with them scores of Chibok girls held since 2014, as well as Nigerian army hostages, to use them as human shields.

Despite the odds, Nigerian troops remain defiant.

“We are closing in on Shekau and his remaining commanders,” said a military officer speaking on condition of anonymity.

“It is just a matter of time before we get him, dead or alive”.

Leader of Boko Haram insurgents, Abubakar Shekau, on Thursday, dismissed claims by President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the group has been flushed out of its hideout, Sambisa Forest.

In a new video, Shekau insisted he and his members are safe, stressing that their location cannot be revealed.

“We are safe. We have not been flushed out of anywhere. And tactics and strategies cannot reveal our location except if Allah wills by his decree,” Shekau said.

Recall that Buhari had recently commended the Military for capturing camp Zairo, a major hideout for Boko Haram commanders, which is located in Sambisa Forest.

I'm Alive, Hale And Hearty - 'Dead' Shekau Releases New Video
Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the Boko Haram, has released a new video, disputing the military’s claim that he was killed or wounded by soldiers.

Boko Haran in the 39 minutes video posted on YouTube shows Shekau, flanked by two gun-wielding Boko Haram members, speaking on the group’s activities.

In the video, Shekau spoke extensively in Arabic and also Hausa, Kanuri, and English.

In August, the Islamic State, which Shekau had initially pledged allegiance to, announced it had removed him as leader and appointed Abu Musab al-Barnawi as his replacement; a move Shekau rejected.

Al-Barnawi is the son of the late Boko Haram founder, Muhammed Yusuf.

The recent video posted on Saturday, is the latest in a series of latest videos by Shekau’s faction of the terror group whose activities have caused the death of over 20,000 people, displaced over 1 million children and killed over 600 teachers, according to the United Nations.

Last month, the Boko Haram released a video indicating willingness for a prisoner swap with the federal government. The government would release their members held in detention across Nigeria in exchange for the abducted Chibok girls, the group said in the video.

The government has since confirmed its willingness to negotiate the swap but said it would only do so in negotiation with the real leaders of the group.

A similar prisoner swap in July of last year failed because the sect made more demands after an agreement had been reached, the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, said.

Last week, President Muhammadu Buharí invited the United Nations as a mediator in any discussion with the sect.

Many Feared Dead As Shekau, Al-Barnwi B'Haram Factions In Serial Bloody Fights In Borno
Two factions of the Boko Haram sect in Monguno area of Borno State engaged in a bloody fight over leadership tussle, sources told the AFP on Thursday.

The sect had split after the Islamic State group announced Abu Musab al-Barnawi, the son of Boko Haram’s founder Mohammed Yusuf, as the sect’s new leader to replace Abubakar Shekau.

But Shekau had insisted he was still in charge of the Islamist group, whose insurgency had killed at least 20,000 people since 2009 and displaced about 2.6 million people.

Sources say there have been deadly skirmishes between Boko Haram’s factions led by Abubakar Shekau and IS-backed Abu Musab al-Barnawi respectively.

Sources in North-East now say there have been deadly skirmishes between the two factions, even as Nigeria’s military seeks to finally rout the rebels in a sustained counter-offensive.

Last Thursday, several fighters from Shekau’s camp were said to have been killed in two separate gun battles with IS-backed Barnawi gunmen in the Monguno area of Borno State near Lake Chad.

Nigeria’s military declined to comment on the reported in-fighting when contacted by AFP.

But Mele Kaka, who lives in the area, told AFP that, “The Barnawi faction launched an offensive against the fighters of Shekau faction who were camped in Yele and Arafa villages.

“In Yele, the assailants killed three people from the Shekau camp, injured one and took one with them, while several others were killed in Arafa,” he told AFP on the telephone from the state capital, Maiduguri.

The attack, he said, prompted residents of Arafa to flee the area.

Kaka added that fighters from Barnawi camp had the previous day attacked gunmen loyal to Shekau faction in Zuwa village in nearby Marte district, killing an unspecified number.

Kaka added, “The Barnawi fighters told villagers after each attack that they were fighting the other camp because they had derailed from the true jihad and were killing innocent people, looting their property and burning their homes.

“They said such acts contravene the teachings of Islam and true jihad.”

AFP reported that the news of the factional clashes had been slow to emerge because of the destroyed telecommunications infrastructure in the North-East and restricted access to the area.

A civilian vigilante assisting the military against Boko Haram said there were sporadic clashes between the opposing fighters.

The three incidents described by Kaka were “very possible,” said Babakura Kolo.

“I don’t have news of the clashes but it is not surprising if they did occur because there has been similar in-fighting among the two Boko Haram camps,” he added.

Two weeks ago, there was a fierce gun battle in the Abadam area of Borno State, near the border with Niger, where Shekau’s fighters were routed, he said.

“It was a deadly fight and Shekau’s fighters were forced to flee,” Kolo said.

He added that hundreds of residents of the villages and their herds taken hostage by the fleeing fighters were allowed to go about their normal lives by the Barnawi faction.

Shekau has led Boko Haram since the death of Mohammed Yusuf in police custody in 2009, waging a deadly, indiscriminate guerilla war that has overwhelmingly targeted civilians.

Irabor said, “I can confirm to you that the original Shekau was killed, the second Shekau was killed, and the man presenting himself as Shekau, I can also confirm to you that few days ago, he was wounded. We are yet to confirm whether he is dead or not”.

The Commander also confirmed division within the ranks of the insurgent group which was due to constant military pressure

“They released videos to prove that they are still active, but that’s just a facade,” Irabor said.

Following air strike that killed many insurgents and fatally wounded Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, the Nigerian troops on Operation LAFIYA DOLE stationed at Darul Jamel, on the fringes of Sambisa forest, northern parts of Borno State, Monday evening successfully repelled an attempted attack on their location by remnants of Boko Haram terrorists, killing two sect commanders in the process.

The terrorists attempted to storm the troop location at about 10.00pm, but paid dearly as the troops killed several of them including two senior commanders that led the attack.

The troops recovered 1 Light Machine Gun (LMG) with Registration number 56M-1101229, 1 AK-47 Rifle Magazine, Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Bomb and 1 top cover of an AK-47 Rifle. Other items recovered include 395 Rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and 15 rounds of 5.5mm by .45 ammunition.

Prior to the attack, the troops of the same unit on routine patrol earlier, had cleared an ambush staged by elements of the suspected remnants of the terrorists desperate for food near Banki Junction.

It is equally believed that the attack and ambush might not be unconnected to the fact that the terrorists were desperately targeting over 890 rescued herdsmen with their 5000 livestock being held captives by terrorists along Nigerian borders with Cameroon.

Troop Fatally Wounded 'Shekau', Other Boko Haram Commanders Killed In Fresh Air Bombardment of Sambisa Forest

Troop Fatally Wounded 'Shekau', Other Boko Haram Commanders Killed In Fresh Air Bombardment of Sambisa Forest

The leader of the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents group, Abubakar Shekau,  has “fatally wounded” after a “most unprecedented and spectacular air raid” in Sambisa forest, Nigerian military has claimed

Acting director of army public relations, Sani Kukasheka Usman, in a statement he released very early on Tuesday morning said Shekau was injured in his shoulder.

He said the operation held on August 19, 2016 as the terrorists were performing Friday rituals at Taye village, Gombale general area, within Sambisa forest, Borno state.

“In what one could describe as the most unprecedented and spectacular air raid, we have just confirmed that as a result of the interdiction efforts of the Nigerian Air Force, some key leaders of the Boko Haram terrorists have been killed while others were fatally wounded,” Usman said.

“The air interdiction took place last week Friday 19th August 2016, while the terrorists were performing Friday rituals at Taye village, Gombale general area within Sambisa forest, Borno State.

“Those Boko Haram terrorists commanders confirmed dead include Abubakar Mubi, Malam Nuhu and Malam Hamman, amongst others, while their leader, the so-called ‘Abubakar Shekau’, is believed to be fatally wounded on his shoulders. Several other terrorists were also wounded.”

This is not the first time the army is claiming to have killed Abubakar Shekau.

The army first said in 2013 that it had killed the leader of the sect. Then, in September 2014, it again said “Sehkau” had been killed — though it later clarified that the man killed in 2014 was a Shekau impostor who went by the names Isa Damsaka, Bashir Konduga and Bashir Mohammed.

However, the following month, Shekau released a video dismissing reports of his death, saying: “Here I am, alive. I will only die the day Allah takes my breath. I am running our… Islamic caliphate and administering sharia punishments…

“Nothing will kill me until my days are over… I’m still alive. Some people asked you if Shekau has two souls. No, I have one soul, by Allah.”

Between March 2015 and 2016, Shekau was noticeably absent in videos released by Boko Haram, only to release a video in March 2016, go quiet again and release another in August, where he threatened the mother of all attacks against Abuja, the federal capital territory

Dethroned B'Haram Leader, Shekau Declares Buhari, Buratai Infidels, Threatens To The President In Attack Aso Rock In New Vidoe
Abubakar Shekau the leader of the extremist Boko Haram sect has in a new video threatened fresh but more vicious attacks on the Nigerian state even as he battles Abu Mussab Albarnawi the son of his erstwhile leader, Muhammed Yusuf, to retain the leadership and control of the outlawed group.

In the new video, Mr Shekau, who paraded a large number of his men and munitions, was quiet while one of his masked lieutenants read out a statement that reiterated their unflagging loyalty for to him while denouncing ISIS’ choice of Mr. Albarnawi as its West African ‘Wali’ (leader).

The 24-minute video, which was partly in Arabic and ended largely in Hausa, had the group issuing direct threats to the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Butatai and the spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Sani Usman, whom they labeled as their avowed enemies and infidels.

The group expressed angst displeasure with Albagdadhi-led ISIS for recognising Mr. Albarnawi as the new leader of Boko Haram in West Africa. It however failed to withdraw its loyalty to Mr. Albagdadhi whom they repeatedly referred to as Khalifa (Supreme leader) – an indication that Boko Haram is still very much comfortable being under the stronger umbrella of ISIS.

In the concluding part of the video message that featured the group speaking from a thick forest that conforms with the Nigerian vegetation during the rainy season, the masked speaker threatened more vicious war against Nigeria and its West and Central African neighbours (Camerron, Chad and Niger, which he said would commence “very soon.”

The veiled speaker speaking on the front row of men that were all armed with lethal weapons like anti aircraft rifles and rocket launchers among others, threatened that they would very soon attack the Presidential palace and bring down the Nigerian flag.
The transcribed and translated video message reads;

“This is a message from the group of Jamaatu Ahlil sunna liddawati wal jihad in West Africa of the Islamic caliphate to all the Jihadists of the world; especially to Abubakar Albagdadi.

“News has recently come to us through the media outlets, including those of the infidels. The news was that someone has been made leader or vicegerent of our movement in West Africa. But we are telling you that the appointed person has no qualifications to become our leader. We have listened and heard from them and their comment and how they tried to defame Ahlil Sunna wal jamaaa and we are further convinced that such a person cannot become our leader. And we cannot follow the one that is not of Ahlil Sunna wal jamaaa’.

“Besides, our leader, Abubakar Shekau, has sent you an 8-point message detailing why the person you appointed cannot lead because he is one of those that are called irjai. You (Albagdadhi) has sent a message back to our leader asking for the meaning of Irjai which he explained to you and you have failed to get back to us till date.

“Apart from that in the message we sent to you, you’ve not been able to address all the questions asked and the issues raised till date. For that reason, we are telling you that we are together with our leader, Abubakar Shekau.

“There are other issues that we want to raise but not on this platform.

“We have not reneged on our professed loyalty in the leadership of Albagdadi. We are still with him. But we will not entertain any middle man to come between us and the Khalifa Albagdadhi until we meet face to face with the Khalifa or get a video or audio message from him, then we will reveal to him core secrets about those they are building their trust on.

“We are also warning you the infidels of the West African countries that in no distant time, you are going to be visited with a calamity from us that will marvel you all for a long time to come. We will shock the world very soon. Watch out for us.
“Especially, the Cheif of Army staff , General Buratai and the army spokesman, Kukasheka; we are going to show you our strength in Nigeria. The world should know that we are no longer out to fight Nigeria but our battle is of the entire world. And the battle has just begun. It is going to be a fresh battle for you soldiers of Nigeria. Die you all in your rage.

“To you, President Buhari, very soon you will see us inside your home the presidential palace. You will hear from us right in there by the will of God. Abuja will hear from us very soon. We will demolish infidel and bring down the green white green and replace it with our flag. And under that flag, we shall worship Allah and we shall bring justice to all of you. Don’t think it is only this weapon that will aid us to destroy you but Allah will assist us to do this. Die you all in your rage. We are out to wage war on the world.”

Why Shekau Overthrown - New B'Haram Leader Lists Former Leader's Many Sins, Atrocities In An Open Letter

Why Shekau Overthrown - New B'Haram Leader Lists Former Leader's Many Sins, Atrocities In An Open Letter

Why Shekau Overthrown - New B'Haram Leader Lists Former Leader's Many Sins, Atrocities In An Open Letter
The raging war within the deadly Boko Haram sect has continued unabated with the newly appointed leader, Abu Musab al-Barnawi, leading a splinter group that is set to confront the main faction in a battle of wits. The former spokesman, who is being backed by the Islamic State (ISIS), had issued an audiotape yesterday denouncing the supposedly deposed leader, Abubakar Shekau, who had earlier issued his own audiotape on Thursday, claiming to be in charge of the deadly group. Shekau had responded to the announcement of al-Barnawi as Boko Haram leader, calling some of his followers traitors.

Al-Barnawi in his new speech is accusing Shekau of deviating from the original cause of the group and turned it to a personal agenda. Shekau had said that he remained strong and in control of the group. “We still exist as a group and we shall not deviate from the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah. We still remain adherents of the Jama’atul Ahlus Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal Jihad. May Allah help us to accomplish our mission. “At the beginning of these exchanges, I was deceived. I was made to articulate my beliefs in writing, but this was rejected,” Shekau had said.

But in his reaction, al- Barnawi called Shekau a liar and noted that he has taken full charge of the operations of the sect. According to al-Barnawi, Shekau was forcefully keeping people in the group against their will, while using women and children as human shield.

“He was boasting that if we attempt to escape from his empire his men will kill us. He is a liar. I am not the only one that left, but eight of us left, all kitchen cabinet members. And right now two other top members are on the way to join us. We are all here.

The issue of Islam is not personal, there is no sentiment in Islam, and that is why we are here. Nobody can dare us or stop us from it, no matter how he brags. “Here we are on our own. Can’t you see how we left your empire? We left women and everything and just left with guns on our shoulders.

We would have crushed anyone that stood on our way. “We said we would not touch anyone but just go on our way to our religion. We will fight for the cause of Allah and work against personalising Jihad and against unjustifiable killings and shedding of blood.

We are out because you came out with your own cassette. We want our people to know proper Islam because Allah in the Quran forbids killings without justification. Just like Allah gave us power to kill infidels, there are those he said we shouldn’t kill without reason.

“In the Quran, Allah forbade Muslims from killing one another… and he also taught against killing in secret. If it is serious punishment, it must be public for people to know and witness it. But once you see killings in secret, there is something fishy and this is what we noticed with Shekau.

What he is doing is not Islam. He said we should follow him and we agreed, but we later realised it is another thing and we said no. We have to stick to the Quran and what Allah said, not [follow] someone’s waywardness. “We have vowed to say the truth. If we will be killed, let us be killed.

If we will be eaten, let us be eaten up and if we will be roasted, let us be roasted. We will not leave our fellow brothers in the dark; this message of mine will get to Sambisa Forest. It will get into Shekau’s house. We have agents that will convey the message no matter how he dislikes it.

“Almighty Allah is against killings of Muslims. Allah is saying better heaven and earth fall than innocent soul of a Muslim, but you have Shekau, who likes killing our own people. He is always boasting that he will kill. Okay, continue to kill, you will also be killed. Who will dwell here forever? Everybody will die.

You will also die some day. And there is no one that will die without reaching his day of death. You can see we are here alive, all of us here sitting. Anyone that Allah did not kill you cannot kill him. The same way, you cannot stop anyone Allah willed his death.

“In one of our Shura meetings, someone asked Shekau how he felt about Muslims running away from their own land to the land of the infidels for their own safety. Shekau said Muslims are also infidels and should be killed like the infidels.

These people are not infidels, they are Muslims running for their lives, and he insisted that they are infidels and should be killed. Shekau is ignorant of the fact that it is forbidden for a Muslim to be killed after being chased out of Islamic Caliphate to a strange land and [when the Muslim] has not taken part in any conspiracy against Muslims.

“We fled from him with our religion for good. It is there in the books, when you are not allowed to practise Islam you have the liberty to flee and follow what you know is right. Shekau, we did not touch you, don’t touch us. If you touch us we will touch you and we are many against you.

We have people in your house and even your present hideout. You don’t know us enough; we are ready for anyone to kill us, even if it is infidels, for so long as we will make heaven and be before Allah. That is why we are countering the false ideology you are spreading.

“Shekau said he is looking for our information. We also have your information and we are close to you. What kind of thing is this? There were states we captured as part of the Islamic Caliphate and you allowed men to be looting property. We told you and you did not take action.

We don’t know this brand of Jihad; you kill children, women and bomb people. We should be looking for infidels and not our own people. How can we be killing people in the mosques when there are churches, barracks? It is nonsense and Allah will ask you, if you don’t repent.

“Another thing is, Shekau is interpreting verses with his own opinions and the cassettes are being spread. Stop interpreting the Quran with your own opinion. We who lived with Shekau knew his conduct. What is not in the Hadith, he will insist that it is there.

Kai, Imam, all these interpretations are your own creation. Please go and seek education and knowledge from those that know. “You forgot how you rushed to pass a verdict over the case of a man over sheep? And you rushed a judgment that saw the man’s hand amputated.

The same thing happened in Bama. Five of us were sitting, and the issue came up of some fighters who married slaves. He quickly said they should be killed. The killings spread to eleven persons. Later on, the allegation turned out to be false. Some fighters murmured and said there would be no peace with his injustices.

And all these are not part of Islam. People complained of several acts, but because Shekau was enjoying power he refused to take action. Who killed the Malam in Banki? Is it not you that killed him? The same thing happened to a man you brought inside and killed. “You forgot one day I told you that your wives are not aware that their husbands are alive.

You dismissed me with a wave of hand. And you said their husbands should be killed. Is it not you that killed them? Are you not the one that killed Malam Abdulmalik? He is popularly known as Baba Abdulmalik, and you killed him. And you are killing them secretly when, in Islam, there is nothing like secret killings even of an infidel.

Even if it is Buhari that comes to you following an agreement, if you killed him, it is not Islam. Even if it is an infidel, if you killed him it is not Islam. If you are afraid of their treaty, tell them we are enemies, instead of drawing people close tokill them.

“Where did you see the judgment of Allah secretly done? And you said you are following Allah. Is it the Prophet that said this? This is not Islam, Shekau. “You killed Ameer Falluja because he was close to Abdulmalik. When he entered, he never came out.

The same way, you killed Bagomna because he bought a house in Amchide. If someone bought a house, is that a reason to kill him? With your hand you killed him. Bagomna came on a bike, and you just killed him. When we asked you why you said since he went to war he did not return.

You are a liar; you killed him on your own. Is this Islam? Are you sure it is Islam you are doing, killing war commanders, and killing clerics? “You killed Mustapha, you killed Kakaali, and you told women that they died in the war, but insiders knew that you killed them.

It was Aliyu that you asked to call one of them. You remember where you used to stay in one location. On getting there one day they called the man guarding the place. When he came, you killed him. When the second [man] appeared you repeated the same. From that moment did we not start failing and losing the war? You can’t think and repent.

When we fought infidels in Baga, did you remember the bravery [the men you killed] exhibited? Did you do half of their gallant fight? You are just sitting down; they will bring you cars, money, and other valuables and you still have the guts to betray them. “The same way you killed one man on trivial grounds that he was gossiping. Yet his contribution to this cause was incredible.

He was producing guns, and you just wasted him. And you wanted to kill one Aliyu and something happened. You wanted him killed, but failed and he succeeded in killing one of the two you sent to kill him. Is this Jihad? Is it not you that killed Mujaheed? Is it not you that killed Umar? Is it not you that killedAbumariam? Abumariam and Mujaheed were killed together by you.

What did they do to you? Can’t people tell you the truth? That is why some of us that want to tell you the truth fled so that you don’t kill us. And now that we are away, you can’t kill us unless we kill ourselves. We believe in Allah and have our own battalions. Send your agents and see a surprise. None of them can come here; we will finish them.

You also killed Abdullahi because of a dream. You keep telling people rubbish about leaders that killed their fighters. Those leaders killed in the open, but you killed secretly. “When Malam Umar was going to honor [Shekau’s] invitation, he called me and explained that Shekau had sent for him, but he had sent words pleading for forgiveness.

When he told me, I said he should believe in Allah and submit to his faith. When Umar went, [Shekau] came out and asked for a knife and a dagger. Very close to the river [Shekau] killed Umar. Is this Allah’s verdict? This is Haram for Shekau to make Muslims kill their brothers.

Shekau be careful, we are not part of this; I repent and will never follow you. I will never go back. If you fear Allah, you should better repent. We have revolted against your ideology and now cling to the real ideology of Allah. We are not part of a caliphate of injustices and shedding of blood.

We are not part of a religion that is not dictated by Allah. We are with our leader, [ISIS commander] Al-Baghdadi. If you say you will not follow him, we will know the truth. Anyway, you have revolted and are deceiving people. You even said it in your cassette that you were forced; that you only bear fake allegiance fearing that there would be an internal revolt against you.

Shekau killed many fighters, and we have exposed a few. “Another case of Shekau’s insensitivity is abandoning fighters to hunger [as well as] women and children who go without food while he is enjoying with his own family. Last year, 20 children died of malnourishment. Recently, 15 babies died in one day due to starvation.

I have a recorded message here, and I will play it here for all to hear. (The audio was played and Shekau was heard saying the following: “That children are dying, let even 100, 000 die now. Nonsense, am I the one holding them? I can only do what I can.

Am I here to breed babies? You came disturbing me. Who told you my duty is to look after babies? Who told you my duty is to look after fighters? If this is what you are talking about, then it is you that should look after me. Is this what Quran said? What do you mean?”).

“Even [when fighters] advance towards enemies, [Shekau] doesn’t make logistics available. The other time, we lost plenty of gas and fuel tofire. Before, you ruled over us, but now we are free. Another thing that made us leave you is because you don’t listen to your cabinet. If we follow Shekau, we will never make heaven. That is why we left. Stop giving opinionated fatwa.

“You don’t listen and accept our views. Even [Boko Haram founder, killed in 2009] Mohammed Yusuf, he would write his Friday preaching and table it before us for debate and scrutiny. We would collectively go through and work on it. But you refused [to do the same].

Are you more educated than Mohammed Yusuf? Is it not in my place that you were studying with your two items of clothes and under a tree in Maiduguri?“Another thing is Shekau doesn’t make weapons available for fighters. People fighting a war are left with no weapons.

We have lost many territories in our emerging Islamic caliphate to infidels because of your laxity. You are the cause. “This was the beginning of our revolt against you. If you leave us alone, we will leave you alone. If you continue antagonizing us, we will also continue.

If you repent, we will accept you and embrace you. You should repent and fear Allah. This is the open letter to you. “In our Shura meetings, there was a complaint that jihadists’ wives were taken away while they were fighting for Allah. What did you do? You did nothing, and fighters saw how you don’t bother about their welfare. You just go home and sleep with your wives and slaves while we are suffering. We are not with you.”
