EFCC Probes Akande Over N300m Fraud Osun Varsity Fund

EFCC Probes Akande Over N300m Fraud Osun Varsity Fund
Of course, the Akande being under probe of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC is not the pioneer chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Bisi Akande as many would have thought, but Mr. Niyi Akande, the Chairman of governing board of Osun State College of Education, Ila-Oragun, News Punch understands

The antigraft agency is investigating Niyi over the allegation of N300m fraud labeled  against him the Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State. The group had accused Niyi Akande and some other officials of the institution of fraud in a petition sent to the EFCC.

The commencement of investigation into the alleged fraud was contained in a letter of invitation sent by the anti-graft agency to the Chairman of the CSCEOS, Mr. Sulaiman Adeniyi, Punch Newspaper stated.

 The South-West Zonal Head of the EFCC, Akaninyene Ezima, in a letter dated May 13, 2016 with with reference No: CR: 3000/EFCC/ IB/T.C/VOL.1/80, had invited the group to appear before it to clarify some issues in the petition.

However, the management of the college had debunked the allegation of fraud against Akande and other officials accused of corruption, in a statement.

It stated that the allegation was a form of reprisal attack to silence Akande but said the council would not succumb to the smear campaign.
