EXCLUSIVE: Buhari, Tinubu, Oyegun, To Storms Awka For Senator Andy Uba Reception To APC

Tinubu Buhari and Oyegun
President Muhammadu Buhari, the national Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegu; the party's national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, are few of the prominent APC Chieftains who are billed to attend the grand declaration and reception of Senator Andy Uba from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, News Punch exclusively gathered.

Finding by News Punch revealed that Senator Uba, who is representing Anambra South Senatorial District had few days registered at Awka in the ongoing APC membership revalidation and registration exercise. This has put to rest the speculation that he has defected or not.

According to a closed-confidant and friend, Comrade Ajibade Samuel, there is no doubt about Senator Uba's defection to the APC. He confirmed to News Punch's correspondent in Lagos that Senator Uba is now full fledge APC member, having registered as a member in his ward in the ongoing registration and revalidation exercise.

According to Comrade Ajibade, following Senator Uba's official registration, all is now set for an open declaration of the senator and thousands of supporters across the state in a yet to be fixed date.

News Punch further gathered that the delay for the date of the reception may not be unconnected to the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently in the United Kingdom on medical vacation. Th

Senator Uba during his membership registration at his country home in Uga, Aguata Local Government Area of the state said APC has the ideology and focus which he needed to tap into to provide quality representation to his constituents.

He further said he joined the APC because of other personalities in the party with sound ideas whom he looked up to in politics.

Being an ex-governor, and a two-term Senator, Uba no doubt has an enviable charisma, character and the much-needed experience to take Anmabra State to it desired height. Senator Uba is a household name in Anambra politics and remains the only aspirant to beat in the governorship race.

Prof. Charles Soludo, Chief George Muoghalu, Chief Barth Nwibe, Mr. Obinna Okonkwo, Chief Paul Chukwuma and Chief Obinna Uzor, Dr Chike Obidigbo, Chie Raph Okeke, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, Chief Tony Nwoye, Sen. Uche Ekwunife, and Prince Donatus Okonkwo are few others who have also declared to contest the Anmabra governorship on the platform of APC

Group Wants FG to Stop C'River LG Allocation ...Set to Drag Govt to Court

Group Wants FG to Stop C'River LG Allocation ...Set to Drag Govt to Court

Inyali Peter, Calabar

An All Progressive Congress, APC group in Cross River have urged the Federal Government to withhold the monthly allocation for the 18 local government area councils in the state pending when council elections are conducted.

Speaking under the aegis of Coalition of APC Support Groups in Cross River, the group hinted that it has concluded plans to drag the state government to court to get an injunction that will compel the government to conduct council elections.

In a statement signed by it Chairman, Comrade Iso Bassey Edim and Secretary, Barrister Joseph Odok, the group described the inability of the state government to conduct LG polls as "gross misconduct and executive abuse of democracy" by the governor.

It will be recalled that the tenure of the out gone elected council officials in the state expired on the 13th of this month and the governor, Senator Ben Ayade has ordered the most senior council officials should take charge of the affairs pending when transition committee will be constituted.

According to the statement, "The Nigeria constitution has expressly made proviso for three tiers of government namely, the federal, state and the local government to operate separately. While the federal government has not sacked any state government or fail to conduct elections for state officials, it is almost becoming a norm for state governors across the country to appoint their stooge to head LG.

"We are very worried that this practice is going on in a change government unchecked. The governors have made sure that the provision of three tiers of government have become more of a paper talk.

"Until now, Cross River state has never been part of this executive abuse of democracy but unfortunately, Ayade who has ingloriously destroyed all the legacies he inherited has introduced this and we are saying no, it should not happen.

"Elections were supposed to be conducted around August this year inline with the electoral act that elections are conducted three months to the expurgation of an administration.

'But unfortunately, Ayade like other governors made sure this never happened. So to compel our governor to conduct elections, we are asking the federal government to withhold the state LG allocation. We have already concluded plans to challenge his planned transition committee in court".

The group quarrelled that, " Our state governors arrogance has become unbearable. They choose people into LG positions with utter disregard of the constitution. We wonder how they will feel if the President dissolve the elected state government and replace it caretaker committee or refuse to conduct elections when tenure elapse.

"Power belongs to the people not the governors. The joy of democracy is the opportunity the people get to choose who represent them. When you deny them such opportunity for nefarious reasons, you're only calling for civil unrest.

"We are calling on governor Ben Ayade to conduct elections. Ayade has taken Cross Riverians for granted and we will rise against this. He should not only copy illegalities to the state, he should also commission projects like other governors are doing".

The group further asked the governor to direct the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission to announce the time table for LG polls in the next 21 one days.

"We want Ayade to direct CROSIEC to announce time table for LG polls in the next 21 days. We want council elections and not just elections but free, fair and credible election", the statement reads.

Ekong said Akpabio’s camp was aware of the rumours, but stressed that the rumours were being spread by APC propagandists. Asked whether APC would accept his membership,  Awak said that would be left for the party’s leadership to decide.

THREAT To IMPEACH Buhari: Saraki Loyalists Hold Secret Meetings At Sen. Wamakko's House, APC Reacts

Contrary to claims that series of meetings have been held at Senator Aliyu Wamakko, the immediate past former Sokoto State Governor's house to  allegedly plan and fast-track how to impeach President Muhammadu, Wamakko has said the reports were untrue.

Wamakko said the series of meetings held in his residence were to find amicable solution to the frosty relationship between the Executive and Legislature, not to discuss the impeachment of Buhari, The Daily Sun reports

“As a principled politician, I have no cause to scheme against the president and the party I campaigned for or the cause I believe in. Let me once again reiterate that we hold the president in high esteem, and we will do our best towards ensuring that there is cordial relationship and harmony between the two arms of government,” he said in a statement.

Some diehard supporters of the embattled President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki reportedly held a secret meeting at the Abuja resident of the former Sokoto State Governor's house. The meeting which was alleged to be on how to strategize the impeachment move against Buhari.

Meanwhile, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has reacted to the threat to impeach President Muhammdu Buhari.

The party in a state signed by its national secretary, Mr. Mai Mala Buni described the threat of the impeachment as laughable and huge joke taken too far.

In the statement, the APC  advised the Senators involved to “stop this huge joke and concentrate on their primary constitutional responsibilities of lawmaking and discharging of their legislative mandates to their constituents at the National Assembly.”

The APC scribe who was reacting to alleged threat to begin impeachment process against Buhari during an executive session of the senate said the ruling party would not to join issues on the Senate forgery suit and other court cases concerning some members of the eighth Senate because it would be sub judice.

While advising the Senators involved in the impeachment plot to allow judicial processes run its normal and legitimate course, Buni said the allegations that the court cases were politically-motivated by Buhari and the APC were baseless.

The APC scribe that the Buhari administration strictly respects the principle of the Rule of Law and also adheres to the constitutional provisions of Separation of Power between the three arms of government, the statement urged the president and the entire cabinet to remain focused in their effort to deliver on election promises and to steer the nation to its deserved heights.
