Fresh TENSION In APC As Oyegun Plots Tinubu, Atiku's Expulsion; Hires Muiz Banire To Do The Dirty Job

Fresh TENSION In APC As Oyegun Plots Tinubu, Atiku's Expulsion; Hires Muiz Banire To Do The Dirty Job

ATIKU TINUBU AND OYEGUN
Daily Times - An alleged plot to sack the All Progressive Congress National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and a former vice president of the country, Atiku Abubakar has been revealed.

The revelation was made by the embattled Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the political party, Comrade Timi Frank, who accused the National Chairman of the Party, Chief Oyegun of scheming to sack both chieftain of the party.

Timi Frank made this known in a statement released to journalist in which he warned the National Chairman against running the party like a dictator adding that the chairman and his review committee’s plan “is a grand plot against the national leader of the party, Bola Hammed Tinubu, myself and other leaders who oppose his leadership style.”

The allegation comes on the heel of the review committee constituted by the National Chairman on Wednesday and headed by the party’s National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire.

The constituted committee was tasked with the duty of closely speedily neutralising members of the party who pose threats to the leadership of the party.

Timi Frank in his release said: “Chief Oyegun is vigorously working to ensure that he pushes out some prominent members of the party including the National Leader Bola Tinubu, myself and so many other leaders who have spoken against his leadership style which is now more of a dictator.”

He added that the National Chairman of the party was not right standing to talk about indiscipline “when he has breached the same constitution more than any other persons. His leadership has breached party constitution several times, even as regard to National Convention which the party law states clearly that it must be held every two years.”

He continued: “Oyegun is talking about indiscipline when there are several allegations of bribery and favouritism yet unanswered hanging on his neck.”

He further questioned the National Chairman;s plan to fill some vacant position in the NWC which he described as “non elective national convention.” adding that “some of us have prepared to meet them at the convention no matter the evil agenda they are planning against us.”

2019: Tinubu, Atiku Realigns, Form New Party To Tackle, APC, Buhari - Report

ATIKU AND TINUBU
National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar are reportedly considering floating a new party ahead of the 2019 general elections, Daily Trust reports.

The report quoted a source as saying both Tinubu and Atiku are unhappy with the presidency but do not want to come out openly on it.

Tinubu’s anger with the Presidency started after the running mate to the party’s late governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu, James Faleke, was subsequently replaced with the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello.

Other issues according to the source include leadership crises at the National level and the Ondo election that saw the emergence of former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, as the party’s candidate in the upcoming governorship election in the state.

Following the emergence of Akeredolu, Tinubu had demanded the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun for allegedly overruling the party’s National Working Committee, NWC’s recommendation asking for the cancellation and conduct of a fresh primary poll in the state.

According to the source, “Tinubu is having a serious realignment with Atiku on the possibility of pulling out with their teeming supporters if President Muhammadu Buhari continues to look the other way.

“While Tinubu expected to win Kogi, Atiku wanted to be the chairman of the BoT, but the presidency frustrated their efforts.”

Ondo APC Election Debacle: ATIKU Joins Tinubu, BOMBS Oyegun
A former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has intervened in the altercation between the national chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, charging leaders of the party to promote the rule of law and due process in the conduct of its affairs.

In a statement issued by his Media Office in Abuja on Wednesday, Atiku, who is one of the national leaders of the APC, asserted that “you cannot break your own rules without creating problems”, insisting that the national leadership of the party must live by the rules of internal democracy and respect for democratic consensus.

He spoke against the backdrop of the festering crisis trailing the conduct of the APC gubernatorial primary in Ondo state, and the subsequent submission of the name of Rotimi Akeredolu to INEC as the APC candidate for the forthcoming election in Ondo.

Tinubu’s rumoured anointed candidate for the election, Olusegun Abraham, had opposed the emergence of Akeredolu as candidate, expressing disappointment with Oyegun for allegedly overruling the initial decision of the NWC which ordered the conduct of a fresh primary.

On Sunday, Tinubu demanded the resignation of Odigie-Oyegun , accusing him of favouring an aspirant in the gubernatorial primaries in Ondo State and forcing his choice through using a sleight of hand.

He also stated that the national chairman was perpetrating injustice, said the development showed that there was an evil and regressive force within the APC using Oyegun to derail the party’s democratic and progressive tenets.

Reacting to this development, the former Vice President charged “the APC on the promotion of rule of law and due process in the conduct of its affairs noting that they are germane to the unity and stability of the party.”

He stated that “it is imperative for the national leadership of the party to live by the rules of internal democracy and respect for democratic consensus”, warning that “you cannot break your own rules without creating problems.”

While advising Oyegun to urgently retrace his steps in order to build confidence among aggrieved members, Atiku urged aggrieved members of the APC in the Ondo election “to exercise restraint in seeking redress to the crisis, while also urging the leadership of the party to retrace its steps and do the needful to restore confidence among the conflicting parties in the state for the overall benefit of the ruling party”.

He said the party is supposed to be an impartial entity in the arbitration of crisis among its members in any given election, arguing that “since the APC found veritable reasons to review the outcome of the gubernatorial primary election it conducted in Ondo State, and was able to establish valid grounds to cancel that election and call for a fresh one, the decision to deviate from its own resolution is a negation of due process and an unfashionable hollow in democratic best practices.

“It was wrong for the APC to have set aside a resolution it had reached aimed at resolving the crisis in our party in Ondo State. It is a recipe for acrimony and division,” he stated.

The APC bigwig warned that glossing over such a problem could only worsen the situation, advising the leadership of the party to do a soul-searching and address the issues at stake.

He maintained that the party leadership should always be guided by respect for the rules, fairness, equity, neutrality and respect for democratic consensus, stressing that such were germane to the ruling party’s unity and stability.

Alleged Link With PDP, Gov. Wike And 2019: Atiku Breaks Silence

Atiku Abubakar,
Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice-President, on Sunday dismissed reports that he is responsible for the leadership crisis currently rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Sheriff alleged that the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 elections is the main cause of the current crisis tearing the party apart, its embattled National Chairman Senator Ali Modu Sheriff said yesterday.

He said: “Wike and Secondus are working to give the party ticket in 2019 to a man in APC, a man that is not even bold enough to leave the APC and join us. He was in the PDP before. He was a founding father of the PDP.

“I don’t have to mention him. Secondus himself told me that he and Wike always meet this man to strategise plans on 2019. I told him that it is wrong. If the man is bold enough, let him come and join us now."

The said APC chieftain many believed Sheriff pointing finger at is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

A terse statement on his official Twitter handle, @Atiku, read:

Atiku had served as the country’s vice president under the platform of the PDP for eight years. In 2013, he decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and in 2015 contested for the APC presidential ticket which he lost to President Muhammadu Buhari.

But reacting to the unconfirmed report that he is behind the disquiet in the PDP,  Atiku denied any involvement.

Wike, Others Plotting To Give PDP 2019 Presidential Ticket To APC Chieftain, Reason We're Fighting Dirty - Sheriff Drops Bombshell
The presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 elections is the main cause of the current crisis tearing the party apart, its embattled National Chairman Senator Ali Modu Sheriff said yesterday.

Sheriff, who bared his mind in an interview with African Independent Television (AIT), accused Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and a former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, of plotting to hand the party’s ticket to a prominent leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

If the man is bold enough, let him come and join us now.

“They accused me of working for the APC. How? I have never played games like that. I had formed a party and was the BOT Chairman. I was a presidential candidate, three time senator, Minority Leader. Makarfi worked for the APC in 2015, Ben Obi was Atiku’s Vice Presidential Candidate, and Secondus and Wike are meeting an APC man regularly on how the party will be sold to him.

“Wike is full of arrogance and impunity. He is too small to pocket PDP. I will not allow him. There are people who can carry the flag within the party. PDP will not be sold.”

Sheriff is locked in a battle for the soul of the party with Senator Ahmed Makarfi whose tenure as chairman of the party’s caretaker committee was extended by one year in Port Harcourt last Wednesday.

The Police and Department of State Security (DSS) sealed the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt which was planned for the national convention convened by the Makarfi faction. The security agencies cited an order by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Tuesday which restrained the party from proceeding with the convention.

Justice Ibrahim Watila of the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt on the same day validated the convention while Justice Nwakama Ogbonna of a Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja declared Sheriff an illegal chairman of the PDP.

Some other members of the Makarfi faction, including former minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, had accused Sheriff of working for the APC

Why I Visited APC Secretariat - Atiku Opens Up
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  has explained the purpose of his visit to the national secretariat of the APC on Monday.

The Turaki Adamawa, through a press statement by his media office in Abuja yesterday, noted that his visit to the party secretariat was not a response to summon by the leadership of the party as widely speculated.

The visit to the national secretariat of our great party was to rub minds with the party hierarchy, and it was of a routine kind as a chieftain of the party.

“I was neither summoned nor queried by the party on any issue as being speculated. Rather, my visit was at my own behest. “As a party chieftain, I owe it a duty to my party to appraise challenges within the structures of the party and also proffer suggestions on how to manage those challenges.

I urge you all to discountenance any malicious insinuations about my visit to the party secretariat,” the former vice president concluded.

RESTRUCTURING Nigeria: Presidency, APC Shuns Atiku, Afenifere's Call

RESTRUCTURING Nigeria: Presidency, APC Shuns Atiku, Afenifere's Call

The Presidency and the ruling All progressives Congress, APC have shunned the idea to restructuring Nigeria despite calls from well-meaning Nigerians, the latest from the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as a means to tackle the ongoing challenges, Punch Newspaper reports on Sunday.

The APC Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun reportedly said restructuring the nation not a priority of the party at this trying time, rather, the administration is currently focused on rebuilding the economy, creating jobs and ensuring the security of lives and property, he said to Punch Newspaper.

Also, the Presidency through the spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Femi Adesina on Saturday, in an interview with Punch Newspaper buttressed the party's stance saying it was on the same page with the Party.

Odigie-Oyegun noted that there were several challenges the administration was currently grappling with.

He said, “To bring this additional issue (restructuring) – is not the wisest thing for a nation that is struggling to stabilise to go into an unnecessary diversion at this point.

“Nothing is wrong with the idea but at this time, it is best for us to concentrate on our priorities. As a party, our priority right now is to rebuild the economy, create jobs and deal with the security problems at hand.

“And with what is happening in the Niger Delta you can see that there is so much to do. We must get our priority right some day we will come to that.”

He pleaded with Nigerians not to lose hope because the current challenges were temporary while appealing to them to continue to give unwavering support  for the Buhari-led administration to enable it to deliver on its mandate.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar had, on Tuesday, advocated the restructuring of the country to ensure the development and growth of the federating units.

“Agitations by many right-thinking Nigerians call for a restructuring and a renewal of our federation to make it less centralised, less suffocating and less dictatorial in the affairs of our country’s constituent units and localities,” the former vice-president had said at a book presentation, “We are all Biafrans”, in Abuja.

Eminent Nigerians such as a former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, and an ex-Chairman of the Nigerian chapter of Transparency International, Maj. Gen. Ishola Williams (retd.), as well as groups such as Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, and the pan-Igbo umbrella body, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, had also supported Atiku’s call.

When asked about the Presidency’s position on the calls, Adesina referred our correspondent to the ruling party’s roadmap for the country.

He said, “The governing party, the APC, has a position on restructuring in its roadmap for the country. Please consult the document.”

Our correspondent’s online check of the party’s document titled “Roadmap to a new Nigeria” showed that the closest information to the issue of restructuring was contained in a section titled “Strengthen peace, security and Foreign Policy.”

Under that section, the APC listed its roadmap for peace, security and foreign policy to include; to enable states to have their own local police forces that address the special needs of each community, including community policing initiatives that restore trust among local citizens; establishing a serious crime squad with state-of-the-art training and equipment to combat terrorism, militancy and ethno-religious communal clashes; and to provide a comprehensive compensation plan for victims of ethno-religious crisis, communal clashes and terrorism.

Obasanjo, Atiku, Duke, Others Linked To New Political Party; Tinubu's Name Too Filters Ahead 2019
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, an unconfirmed report says is leading a pack of top politicians including his former Vice President. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former senate president Ken Nnamani and former Cross River State Governor Mr. Donald Duke, among others, to float a new political party ahead of the 2019 general elections apparently in dissatisfaction with the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, Frontier News reports

It gathered authoritatively, Frontier News says that the new party formation, which is billed for lunch in November 2016 also has Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and his predecessor Senator Aliyu Wamako as coordinator of Sokoto state while Senator Musa Kwakwaso is to oversee Kano state.

Other coordinators of the yet to be named mega party our correspondent gathered are Senator Adamu Aliero who is to coordinate Kebbi state, MrsAll Progressives Congress  who is to coordinate Akwa Ibom, the current secretary to the Edo State government Professor Julius Ihonvbere is to coordinate Edo State while Mr. Jimi Agbaje is to coordinate Lagos state. The name of Ogun born politician Mr. Bode Mustapha also featured in the new political arrangement.

Some governors of the South-South and South-East, who are serving their second terms in office our correspondent gathered are also deeply involved in the political arrangement but with the promise of vice presidential slot while  present and former governors of the North have also been linked to the new party.

Though the name of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was linked to the new party, an insider told Frontiersnews that Obasanjo is strongly opposed to the inclusion of his former deputy in the party.

A source, who spoke to our correspondent, on condition of anonymity said ” Obasanjo is blocking the inclusion of Atiku Abubakar because of their old quarrel. We are beginning to see the former VP returning to the PDP before 2019 because the APC will certainly not give him the ticket in 2019″.

Top political leaders in both the ruling APC, the PDP and other political parties in the country have also been linked with the new party as consultation intensifies.

An inside source told our correspondent on Monday that key members of the National Assembly, some serving ministers, former governors and a host of other powerful individuals in the country swell the rank of the new political group.

The source stated that in the months ahead, “you are going to see alignment and realignment of political interests. As for the APC and the PDP, there survival will be dependent on their ability to manage their crisis”.

Our correspondent’s investigations revealed that APC strongman Senator Bola Tinubu is already mobilising his supporters to consolidate their hold on the South West bloc and possibly reawaken “his old political bloc”.

Tinubu’s key allies and diehard loyalists who the source said are very unhappy in APC and with the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government are already mobilising to recreate the old Alliance for Democracy (AD) platform ahead of the 2019 general elections, another top politician confirmed.

The source said this development is also applicable to the Atiku Abubakar and the Bukola Saraki’s blocs.

The promoters of the yet to be named political party, the online medium said were undecided wether to create a completely new political platform or leverage on an already registered party and build it into a mega party to form a formidable opposition party to the APC and the PDP in the political landscape.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has reacted to the public outcry of an illegal recruitment exercise allegedly carried out by the apex bank. Sahara Reporters on Tuesday March 15th, reported that the bank employed the children of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, IGP Solomon Arase and others to some key positions in the bank.

The list of beneficiaries of the CBN’s secret job recruitment includes a daughter of former Vice President Abubakar Atiku, a son of Mamman Daura, a nephew of President Buhari and one of the closest members of the president’s inner circle, a son of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, a daughter of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’aba, also daughter of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, a son of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Abdurahman Danbazzau and at least 86 others.

This report has sparked up public outcry as many believed that the bank should have publicized the job openings for many other people to apply.

However in an interview with Premium Times yesterday March 16th, the CBN’s acting Director of Corporate Communications, Isaac Okorafor said the bank did nothing illegal or wrong in hiring without advertising.

“In the last two years, we have had cause to recruit specialists, and what the law says is that if we are going for that kind of recruitment we should apply for waiver, so that we can do targeted recruitment"

He said the bank obtained waiver from the Federal Character Commission.

“The other issue is that there are states that are not well represented (in the CBN), and in this case, we focus on those states to recruits people of certain classes that we used to cover the shortfall in those states,” he said
