Hold Port Harcourt Convention Tomorrow And Go To Jail - Court Tells Makarfi-led PDP Faction Committee
A Federal High Court in Abuja has stopped the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) fixed for Port Harcourt tomorrow, threatening to jail the factional Committee members if it defies.

Justice Okon Abang also ordered the endorsement of Form 48 contempt proceedings to be attached with the order against the caretaker committee members, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC) and the Inspector General of Police.

The judge warned the caretaker committee members particularly Senator Ben Obi and Dayo Adeyeye over their acts of disparaging the court.

He held that the Port Harcourt Division of the Federal High Court which made an interim injunction allowing the Wednesday August 17 convention to hold, lacks the jurisdiction to entertain the material because both the PDP and INEC are in Abuja.

The judge restrained INEC from monitoring the convention as well as the PDP from submitting any lists of elected officials to INEC.
