2019: Sen. Akume Fingered In Secret Plot To Oust Gov. Ortom; APC Reacts

Senator George Akume of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has been said to be involved in secret plot to ouster Governor Samuel Ortom in 2019.

The the APC yesterday exonerated the leader of the party, Senator Akume of plots to replace Governor Samuel Ortom,

The party condemned widespread reports that its State Working Committee (SWC) had held meetings with Akume to plot the fall of Governor Samuel Ortom, in the general elections.

State Chairman of the party, Abba Yaro, who stated this while speaking with journalists in Makurdi, described such plot as untrue, adding that even if such plot was ever mooted, it will not see the light of the day, considering the cordial relationship between the former governor and his political godson.

“I know that both Senator Akume and Ortom are still very cordial and both of them are grass root mobilisers that have unbreakable relationship vis-a-vis the party. So, if any group is ganging up, it means they are just making caricature of themselves.

However, even as one cannot run away from such moves in politics, at the end of the day, they will fail,” Yaro said. “As a party, we are cordial and we do not have any problem with the government we put in power.

It is our government and we do not have problem with it at all. Whatever the governor, who is leading the government does, he tells me that this is what they want to do.”

Benue Police Station Attack: 25 Suspects ARRESTED

“We lost two policemen to the attack. But the inspector that led the team and a corporal are being treated.”
