EXCLUSIVE: Saraki Infiltrates PDP Again, Plots Akpabio's Sack Over Ties ...You'll Be Shocked How Tinubu's 65th Birthday Thickens The Enmity

TINUBU AKPABIO AND SARAKI
Having helped him to become the Senate President against the wish of his Part in an election described by many as a civilian coup, the skimmer Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki may have once again infiltrated the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP once again. But this time with the aim to decimate it to enable him to clip the growing wings of the former Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio as the minority leader at the Senate

According to Ripples Nigeria, the cracks in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the Senate, may soon break open and widen, as strong indications have emerged that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has launched a fresh offensive to decimate it.

Already, some members of the caucus, believed to be key loyalists of Saraki, are already calling for the resignation of the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Ripples Nigeria says

Their grouse is simple. They believe that Akpabio is using his position as Senate Minority Leader to shield himself from prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The aggrieved lawmakers, who are about three in number, one of whom is currently in a running battle with the EFCC, is reaching out to PDP Senators to pass a vote of no confidence on Akpabio.

Trouble started for Akpabio last week, when he attended the 65th birthday celebration of a former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite the rift between the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader and Saraki.

Akpabio, apart from attending the birthday bash, also placed over four advertorials in key national newspapers, where he congratulated Tinubu and described him as a leader.

Saraki and his loyalists, boycotted the birthday celebration, neither did he place advertorials in any newspaper to congratulate Tinubu.

Within the same period, a prominent member of the PDP caucus, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, had a media war with the EFCC. While the brief media spat lasted, Akpabio did not intervene.

Nwaoboshi, it was learnt, reached out to Akpabio to issue a release on behalf of the Senate caucus, condemning his ‘harassment’ by the EFCC. It was gathered that Akpabio refused to act.

On Monday, Nwaoboshi, reportedly met with the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu to prevail on Akpabio to convene a meeting of PDP lawmakers.

Nwaoboshi was accompanied to the brief meeting with Ekweremadu by two of Saraki’s loyalists, Senators Samuel Anyanwu and Matthew Urhoghide, both PDP members.

After failing to secure the needed number of votes to compel Akpabio to step aside, the trio, Nwaoboshi, Anyanwu and Urhoghide, boycotted Tuesday’s meeting of the PDP caucus, held at the private residence of Akpabio.

At the meeting, lawmakers were sharply divided on whether or not Akpabio should be booted out. One by one, lawmakers accused him of not speaking up in their defence.

He was also accused of romancing with key APC leaders, especially Tinubu. Akpabio, supported by Ekweremadu, was able to douse the tension. Immediate-past Senate President, David Mark, who was present at the meeting, also intervened.

The crack in the party, prompted the appointment of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe as spokesman of the caucus. It was done to enable the caucus speak with one voice, instead of the current practice where Akpabio calls the shot.

Ripples Nigeria, also learnt that a story, published by THISDAY Newspaper, alleging that PDP Senators discussed how Tinubu is using the EFCC to fight them, was planted by the Senate President, as part of his ongoing move to reduce the growing influence of the caucus.

In the coming days, media reports, it was learnt will be sponsored against Akpabio. In the media reports, Akpabio will be linked with Tinubu with claims that he is working to undermine Saraki.

Some journalists who have already been contacted to do the dirty job, have turned down the offer. In their place, bloggers are being contacted to fill in the gap.

MASSIVE CORRUPTION ALLEGATIONS: Tinubu FINGERED Behind Our ORDEALS - Senate Caucus Cries Out, Vows Show Down

saraki tinubu
ThisDay - The Senate caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused one of the national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, of working in cahoots with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to destroy the senate by impugning  the integrity of members of the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

The PDP Senate caucus, which has indicated its readiness for a showdown with Tinubu, also alleged that the former governor of Lagos State was behind the series of media attacks against members of the caucus.

This was part of the outcome of their meeting in Abuja, convened by the leadership of the PDP caucus last weekend to review what they regarded as “onslaught” by the EFCC against members of the group.

At the meeting, members of the caucus were said to have come to a conclusion that the anti-corruption agency was acting in concert with Tinubu, who they alleged was bent on destroying some key elements in the National Assembly in order to clear the way for his 2019 ambition.

The former governor had recently said he would not rule out his presidential bid should President Muhammadu Buhari decide not to run.

A source at the caucus meeting said the senators noted the “constant bashing and campaign of calumny” launched against the Senate by a prominent national daily and a frontline television station, believed to be owned by the former governor,  as an example of the on-going underground war being waged against the Senate as an institution.

The senators at the meeting were also said to have cited the attack on the Senate leadership and other members in recent time by the same media outfits as examples of how, “it is obvious that Tinubu just wanted to destroy us.”

The source said the caucus also noted “the savage” attack on Sen. Peter Nwaboshi, because he moved a motion on the refusal of the executive to respect Senate resolutions, and drew a parallel between the recent travail of Sen. Dino Melaye and some of their other colleagues.”

While Nwaboshi was recently reported to have been under the investigation of the EFCC over contract allegedly awarded  to him in his home State, Delta, Melaye was accused of not being a Geography graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, though he has now been exonerated by a Senate panel.  Also recently, there were reports of a leaked EFCC letter to the President linking the Senate President to alleged diversion of London-Paris Club refund.

The PDP caucus meeting, THISDAY learnt, also reviewed a statement credited to the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu,  believed to be a close ally of Tinubu, who recently at a meeting in Lagos allegedly threatened that the “Senators will see hell in the coming weeks as fresh attacks will be launched against their integrity”.

It is therefore the belief of the PDP Senators that supporters of the former governor are behind the planned protest against the Senate.

The protest being orchestrated by certain groups in Abuja and Lagos is scheduled to hold on Wednesday.

“We will expose them. They were not happy that Senators supported President Muhammadu Buhari, when he was away. They thought we will help them bring down the government because of their ambition.

“Now they are deploying the EFCC and their media against us. Ibrahim Magu is a creation of Tinubu and Oba Akiolu. They want to use him to protect themselves while also using him and the anti-graft agency as attack dogs against people, who are not in their camp.

“That is why when EFCC received petitions against the head of a federal revenue generation agency into whose personal account some money due to government was paid, the anti-graft agency refused to act. The head of the agency concerned had held similar position he is holding now in Lagos. It was the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) that is eventually pursuing the case now,” the PDP caucus member said.

Other revelations at the meeting include the allegation that the chief of staff of the acting EFCC boss was nominated by a popular lawyer who they described as the former governor’s alter ego and effectively the arrow-head of the Tinubu legal group.

Another source at the meeting hinted THISDAY that the lawmakers were bent on going public with their allegations soon and openly fight back by confronting the APC chieftain. PDP senators have equally fixed another meeting for next Tuesday, the source added.

It learnt according to Punch Newspaper that operatives of the Inspector-General of Police, led by ACP Abba Kyari, trailed the syndicate to a hotel in Kaduna State on Tuesday, after receiving complaints from some victims.

A police source disclosed to one of our correspondents that the suspects impersonated Moguno to collect N13m from a Ghanaian, who wanted to get an oil block in Nigeria, and posed as Lawal to swindle one Nnamdi Udo of N4m under false pretences of helping him to get a federal appointment.

“They also posed as the Chief of Staff to the President and collected N2.5m from one Mr. Bishop, who was looking for a contract, and another N700,000 from one Shehu Dan Yahaya, who was seeking a federal appointment.

“Ogogo, a native of Omoku Rivers State, impersonated prominent citizens from the South-South and South-East; Eragbe impersonated prominent persons from the North; Oshamoto posed as prominent citizens from the South-West and North-Central; while Idah supplied them SIM cards registered with the names of the top government officials.

“They were arrested in a luxury hotel in Kaduna and had confessed to impersonating several prominent citizens,” the source added.

Another senior police officer disclosed that the suspects confessed to have realised N20m in six months from their criminal activities.

He added that the mastermind of the gang was based in the United Kingdom.

He said, “Ogogo is their leader; but they mentioned one Prince Maurice, based in the UK, as their gang leader.  Fourteen different phones, several registered SIM cards, and a diary containing phone numbers of several top government officials, were recovered from the suspects.

“Ogogo further confessed that they had made over N20m from their criminal activities within the last six months.”

Parading the suspects on Thursday in Abuja, the police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, said all the suspects confessed to the crime.

He said, “On March 23, 2017, the Intelligence Response Team arrested these notorious criminals who posed as top government functionaries.

“The four-man syndicate, led by one ‘High Chief’ Ovie Ogogo, was arrested in a hotel in Kaduna State. All the suspects confessed to the crime and admitted to have impersonated several prominent citizens and made over N20m within the last six months.”

The police said other suspects would soon be arrested, while those in custody would be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation.

FG Using Tinubu's Economic Policies To Ease Out Of Recession - Finance Minister, Adeosun

FG Using Tinubu's Economic Policies To Ease Out Of Recession - Finance Minister, Adeosun

Kemi adeosun and tinubu
The Federal Government said yesterday that its economic recovery template was adopted from a former governor of Lagos State and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, who spoke during the ninth annual Bola Tinubu Colloquium to mark his 65th birthday in Lagos, noted that the tax mobilisation formula and other policies the APC chieftain deployed as governor were what the Federal Government had adopted in its efforts to revamp the national economy.

This tribute by the Buhari government underscores the growing cordial relationship between the presidency and Tinubu. This contrasts with a notion of the existence of a no-love-lost relationship between President Muhammadu Buhari and Tinubu which was given expression recently when Tinubu’s protege Governor Akinwumi Ambode and his predecessor, now Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, had a public spat over the development of Airport Road in Lagos.

At the event titled, “Make it in Nigeria – Use what we make, make what we use”, Adeosun further revealed that states were adopting the Tinubu economic model.
Her words: “We are following that template which you laid down. Oil has proved to us that it is a very unreliable source of revenue. As a matter of fact, it is a lazy way of economic revenue.

“The situation we found ourselves today demands that we should have multiple sources of revenue. We need to create jobs for our people by diversifying the economy but unfortunately, what we had before now was an unproductive economy which solely depended on oil.”

The minister stressed that the nation needed to drive the economy by creating jobs, adding: “We will change Nigeria by consuming what we make and make what we use. Using what we make and consuming what we make is the best way towards economic recovery.

“The tax mobilisation we copied from Tinubu is what we are using. And we thank you for leading the way in tax collection. As a matter of fact, when you embarked on aggressive tax collection, which eventually led to increased internally generated revenue (IGR) in Lagos, many people complained. But the truth is that we all can see the massive infrastructural development achieved from your aggressive tax collection.”

Adeosun vowed that very soon, she would employ an aggressive tax system towards wealthy Nigerians similar to that of Tinubu.

In the meantime, encomiums have begun pouring in for the former governor.

According to President Muhammadu Buhari, the celebrant is the most outstanding South West politician of his generation.

Represented by the Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), the president noted: “Tinubu is a great mobiliser, very good at planning and executing government plan. He played a great role in the transformation of Lagos State. Today, it is no exaggeration to conclude that Tinubu and his associates, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Power, Housing and Works, Mr. Babatunde Fashola and the incumbent governor of the state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, are the architects of the new Lagos.”

Ambode said the astute politician was a great political mentor whose products traversed the country.

His Ogun State counterpart, Ibikunle Amosun, extolled Tuinubu’s selfless service to humanity and the nation at large. Amosun’s predecessor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel described, the famous businessman as a great mind.

The Lagos and Osun Houses of Assembly also paid tributes to the former governor.

However, the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, noted that there were many unexplored business opportunities in Nigeria. According to him, many entrepreneurs fail in business due to poor electricity supply and inconsistent government policies. He commended Tinubu for laying the foundation that brought about the refinery he is building in the Lekki axis of the state.

Tinubu said the occasion “is about what a people united in purpose must do to improve their beloved country. Though our roles may be different some may work under the public glare and others labour without fanfare, we are all but servants to that goal.”

Guests included state governors, Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi ); Simon Lalong (Plateau); Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo); Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna); Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo); Aminu Bello Massari (Katsina) and Abdulahi Ganduje (Kano).

Others were former Vice President Namadi Sambo; erstwhile governors Olusegun Osoba and Otunba Gbenga Daniel of Ogun; Niyi Adebayo (Ekiti) and Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom).

Also present were Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu; Senator Gbenga Ashafa; Alhaji Lateef Jakande; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar; Senator Femi Ojudu among others.

Bola Tinubu @ 65: Who Are The Last Disciples? By Goke Butika

tinubu bola
In actual fact, many human beings are not human persons, because their platforms do not graduate from one development to another, especially some people are retarded when it comes to intellectual trip which exudes the intrinsic value of man. If there is one man in Nigeria of today that is fulfilled, at least to a reasonable mileage, I think it is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for he sees all sides of life: he knew what it is to be poor, he ran in search of greener pasture abroad, and found out why the pasture was not green anyway; he became successful after a long struggle as a staff oil company; he used the wealth acquired to buy a ladder in political steps, and learnt the game of power in the trenches, before he became the governor of the richest state in Nigeria-Lagos; he brought his ingenuity of his financial background to turn around the fortune of the state; raising so many leaders in the process, and empowered tens of others in different spheres. Today, Tinubu is a man of influence, wealth and power. But are those indices count for fulfillment of a leader? The answer would be examined below:

Human being as a social construct is created to fulfill some purposes ranging from being part of the society and possibly draws his relevance in the society; his fulfillment would be determined by the degree of relevance which is attached to his ego or superego with a "firewall" that could not be easily penetrated for deflation of such ego.

Meanwhile, human being as a biological conception is a combination of morphological
Concepts that constitute the body, and this can be explained by Physiologist who would give the details of how our neurons are firing within the body system, and when a man is sick, a malfunction of neurons would be located and possibly fixed if repairable, and if it is not, it becomes, acquired immune deficiency syndrome now called AIDS.

The two concepts of human being as related above are drawn from the lens of Scientists who understand the world through everything physical, but I am of opinion that there is more to the world than physical-what about spiritual, ethical, what about well being, what about mental development and others. So, the Ethicist believes human being remains human being by virtue of his or her biological construct, until he or she passes through the spiritual, ethical, mental and sociological developments before he is seen as human person.

That said, the kernel of this piece is that many of the men of power today are forming a cycle of influence around Tinubu, not because he is the most handsome man in Nigeria, or because he has fleet of degrees like the Senate clown called Dino Melaye wants us to believe that it is eight degrees that makes a Senator or the wealthiest man in the continent like Aliko Dangote, but because while he was in power, he invested in human capital; turned out different leaders as long as you can work with him, so I heard.

At his 65th birthday, Tinubu felt like a father of successful children not a lord of manor, because he knows within him that the Vice President, and second most powerful man in the country, is his by-product in leadership cadre; he knows that most of the governors are his beneficiaries of investment on human capital, and he knows that some of the Captains of industries who were present are those who were empowered by his administration in Lagos. What else does a man want in life?
Unfortunately, a proper analysis would certainly show that Tinubu is not a fulfilled man, because if he is alone, he would reflect on the calibre of men who benefited so largely from him, but must be the last disciples certainly, for they have refused to invest in human capital around them. Most of the governors who drew funds and influence from Tinubu's benevolence today have turned the sycophants around them to emergency millionaires as obtained during the inglorious era of the embattled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the expense of the ordinary people who had thought abinitio that their lots would be better in their respective states. Certainly, those beneficiaries of Tinubu do not plan for long celebration of the man, because the people who ought to celebrate the great leader are now ticking time for their "predators". Let it be known that i chose the governors advisedly, because Tinubu was the governor of Lagos state when he laid foundation for his greatness of today. Some are still paying homage to the great leader, others are pretentious. Ditto for some who have turned themselves his adversaries

If I were Tinubu, I would at 65 assume the driver seat of the Yoruba nation as suggested by late Pa. General Adeyinka Adebayo, who had the premonition of his depature, and wrote a long open letter to Tinubu, with a view to reminding him of his prime position as a Yoruba leader, de jure or de facto. And i would have rallied round the governors in the South West region by bringing them to the table to discuss opportunities the administrative boundaries have denied the region, and ask them to work together for real like what obtained in European union; I would have driven them to concrete collective feat, instead of computer generated integration being championed by one organization called DAWN which refuses to communicate with people, but the governors who are not ready to buy their stuff.

I think, the colloquium designed to celebrate Tinubu should be institutionalized and be taken to different states instead of Lagos. Yes, it was celebrated in Abuja last year, but Lagos and Abuja alone is not Nigeria, and I think it would worth its salt if Tinubu now begins to reach out to people in other states, particularly in the South West. I am not talking about the Government Houses, but the leaders of the commoners just the way Chief Obafemi Awolowo did; that is when his message will come to the people directly or else, he would be seen Lagos leader as his adversaries want him labeled.
Tinubu is a leader, because he chose to spread the nest of empowerment for his people, created leaders of tomorrow, and supports people he thinks has a mission to better the lots of their people, unlike what obtains with some of his protégés who had taken power, crippled the system in order to make it revolve around them, and allowed their ego massagers to acquire the wealth that could have been spread to tens of others. Unfortunately, for them such little-minded sycophants lack electoral value or political mileage they crave for, and it is certain that their future is now. The implication of this is that such disciples do not have a long celebration for the man who made them, because if teachers fail to produce new teachers, knowledge would be estranged.

Most of the beneficiaries of Tinubu are selfish and greedy. They are wealthy, but refuse to spread the opportunities; they are powerful, but are using the power to service the gluttonous sycophants; they are made, but fail to make people; they flaunted Tinubu's feat, but refuse to replicate for future reference; Tinubu was generous to them, but they are wicked to their people. It is pathetic that Tinubu is ascending the flight of political prophets, but his disciples are waning continuously; his mission is attractive, but the messengers are delivering poorly; his heart is pure, but his foot soldiers are fluke. And I am afraid those who proclaim their loyalty today are political scavengers who want to cut from a piece of dead elephant.

Comrade Ola Oni argues: "suffering and success are organically linked. If you suffer, you will succeed, but if you succeed without suffering, some might have suffered for you, and if you suffer without success, somebody will draw the success, but most times, if you suffer, you will succeed". Yes, I cannot affirm the induction he alluded to, but it has a semblance of truth with marginal error of inductive leap. Tinubu just ilke the late sage, Awolowo has done and still doing his bit, but who are the disciples who will hold the banner? Certainly, the answer is in the wind.

Wishing Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu happy birthday.

Tinubu Declares Presidential Ambition

Tinubu Declares Presidential Ambition

Tinubu Declares Presidential ambitionFormer Governor of Lagos State, and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said that he cannot rule out the possibility of running for the office of the president.

Tinubu said this while fielding questions from journalists on Friday.

The former Lagos Governor noted that running for any office in Nigeria was an opportunity to serve his country.

He said, “You see there is nothing wrong with such ambition.

“It depends on the timing and the environment and what political leadership dictates.

“I will not brush aside such an aspiration.

”It has been historical even that Buhari tried first, second, third, and fourth before he got it. Resilience, determination, and clarity of purpose.

“Maybe as a senator, maybe as a president, you cannot rule it out. How can I rule such a thing out, the opportunity to serve my country? But you only do that when there is a vacancy.”

Tinubu added that there was no rift whatsoever amongst APC leaders.

He said, “Everything has always been alright in APC camp. I credit the Nigerian creativity in journalism, they create stories, and if you have to respond to every one of it, you will be in trouble.”

Full Text Governor Akeredolu's Inaugural Speech ..Again, Ignores Tinubu's Presence As Saraki, Oyegun, Dogara Others Mentioned

Akeredolu at Inauguration
Humbled by the uncommon kindness of the Almighty God and an unequivocal expression of preference by the good people of Ondo State, exemplified by the victory of our great party at the last gubernatorial election, I am extremely delighted to share with you all the joy of this day of glory. We are grateful to Almighty God for granting this state such a beautiful day and a beautiful moment like this.

I thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and leader of our great party, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, for his leadership and unwavering stance to support what is just and noble. Today’s celebration would, perhaps, have been impossible without his steely disposition to always stand against all acts not in consonance with decency, probity, and justice.

I thank the President of Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Yakubu Dogara.

I thank all APC Governors who stood to be counted with us in our hour of need and other eminent Nigerians too numerous to mention.

An especial reverence must be reserved for our indefatigable party chairman, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, whose strict adherence to lofty principles and doggedness laid the foundation for our resounding victory at the polls.

This exemplary leader behaved like a true elder, whose sagely presence in the village square not only professed rectitude but acted it, resolutely, affirming nobility of the human spirit. Our party benefitted, tremendously, from his vast experience in public service. We are eternally grateful.

The verdict of history shall be kind to him. Akeredolu takes oath of office as new Ondo state Governor

We express our profound appreciation to all the leaders of the party, at the national, state, local government, ward and unit levels, for their untiring and selfless efforts during the election.

May I also use this opportunity to pay tribute to those who have served this state in this capacity, both living and departed, for their invaluable contributions to the development of the state.

On behalf of our State, I pay tribute to Governor OlusegunAbdulraman Mimiko for his several years of service toOndo State.

I thank all our guests and friends both far and near who have taken it upon themselves to be here or sent words. I thank all citizens of Ondo state, particularly our resilient youths and women.

I come to you this day, with a message of hope, a clear agenda of prosperity and a vision of life abundant. I believe the greatest expression of faith in our ability is to be strong enough to look upon our imperfections and decide that it is in our power to remake our society to align with our highest ideals. We can rise out of this dust and build a new Ondo state where honesty, prosperity and confidence can once again be our self-identity.

We can pull ourselves by the bootstraps and shake off our current frustrations and disappointments. We must recognise the need for a cohesive platform, indispensable to an effective and efficient implementation of policies and programmes of both government and party, respectively. Divergence of opinions is integral to party politics.

We are bound to disagree as politicians but we must cast aside bitter recriminations and destructive predilections. Democracy thrives on infinite multiplicity of ideas. Popular participation is one of its fundamental norms.

The subordination of individual preferences for the collective will is essential if we are to avoid anarchy. Party supremacy should be respected at all times. This should not be difficult for us to accept if we are truly desirous of bringing about positive change in the lives of our people.

We listened to the voices of our people in the course of our campaigns to all the nooks and crannies of the state. We heard them loud and clear through their votes. We witnessed, first hand, the deplorable conditions under which they exist.

To those who cast their ballots in favour of our programmes, your trust is not misplaced. We are determined to make the difference with the specific mandate of redemption liberally handed over to us. Those who expressed other preferences are no less patriotic.

Before long their anxieties will be addressed, realistically. All of us will be involved in the reconstruction project. The collective interest of the state must be our paramount focus. Consequently,we stand before you to pledge, with the guidance of God and our resolve not to renege on our promise, that your welfare shall form the basis of all our activities. To achieve this, the main mission of our administration is therefore to lead a patriotic, highly inspired and competent team to rescue the ship of our state.

We intend to help rebuild our economy, resuscitate damaged infrastructure, restore hope and return our state to a prosperous land. We are determined as an administration to break down the barriers that have made stagnation possible. We will break down the barriers to honest leadership, to comprehensive development, to physical growth and social security. These we intend to do through the promotion of transparent leadership, rule of law, extensive consultation, quality and accessible public utilities and social security; all in a sustainable manner.

We acknowledge the enormous challenges faced by the state and the severely limited resources available to meet these ever-increasing and compelling demands. In readiness for this enormous task ahead, I have two months ago inaugurated a Strategic Development and Policy Implementation Committee comprising of eminent and very knowledgeable Nigerians to produce and articulate a compressive change policy and programme blueprint. They have since submitted their preliminary report.

This blueprint is anchored on five cardinal programmes, which are popularly known as our Platforms for Change (JMPPR).

These are: Job creation through Agriculture, Entrepreneurship and Industrialisation.

2. Massive Infrastructural development and maintenance.

3. Provision of functional Education and Technological growth.

4. Provision of Accessible and Qualitative Health care and social service delivery.

5. Rural Development and Community Extension services.

This platform for Change is erected on strong pillars, which consist of the core sectors of government activities that our blueprint lays emphasis on. These are Finance and Management of state resources, Health and Social Services, Infrastructure and Public utilities, Agriculture and Natural resources, Commerce and Industrial development, Education and Technology, Land, Housing and Environment, Women Affairs and Social Development, Youth and Sports development, Culture and Tourism as well as Information, Civic orientation and Mobilisation among others. Our blueprint when unveiled shall explain in details our philosophy, vision, sectoral policies and comprehensive Programmes of action clearly calendared over a period of a tenure of four years.

With this document our pact with the people will be clear, our path well defined and expectations clearly understood.

In building the structure to deliver on our campaign promises, I come to you with a clear mind and an honest heart, to serve and give the very best of my ability to restore Hope and Happiness to our people.

I urge you to see hope the way I see it.

I see hope with limitless boundaries for endless opportunities for all of us. I see hope for progress, stability and prosperity for all people of goodwill who are willing to contribute their quota to developing our state to a land of honourable, contented, smart, honest, diligent and patriotic people. I see hope for self-confidence, job security and increased commerce and economic production.

I see hope for redemption and renewal of our broken infrastructure, and social values. But make no mistake about it; our journey to redemption will not be without stress and undulating curves. There are mountains before us to climb. As we climb up these steep mountains. Sometimes we may trip or slip, we will get back up. We will focus on the journey. We will never stop.

We will never stop. We will never stop. In the end we will reach our goal, which is to bring back jobs to our youths, food to families, safety, confidence and prosperity to this land. For all these to happen, I am humbly going to ask ONLY one thing from you, good people of Ondo state. What I ask for is Attitude.

We need to come with an attitude of belief and transformation. Indeed, in all successful cultures and societies, attitude is the spirit and driver of victory. Ladies and gentlemen, for us to see the change we all desire, we must be ready to constitute ourselves into change evangelists with exceptional missionary zeal to succeed.

We must know that the man in the mirror is you and I. We need to have faith and find courage in the words of the good scripture thatsays, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.

They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not be faint.” I believe if we combine these abilities with the force of Providence, a lot of great deeds will happen. We shall not subject ourselves to any specious and unproductive stereotypes, which find expression in the usual egregious celebration of the passage of time spent in office as achievement. We will be too busy to notice the pace of the itinerary of the administration. Our state is particularly lucky.

We have men and women of quality. We set the pace for others in the not too distant past. The country depended, to a very great extent, on our resourcefulness. We contributed, immensely, to the GDP of the country at a time when agriculture was the mainstay of the country’s economy. Our people were exemplars in virtually all fields of human endeavour.

The story is, painfully, different today. The fault, as the saying goes, is not in our stars but in ourselves that our fortunes have dwindled, considerably, and we have become underlings. We have transited, regrettably, from a producing economy to a basically consumptive society, which depends, almost solely, on handouts to survive. The resultant effect of this unproductive attitude is grinding poverty, desperation and hopelessness among our people.

It is a cruel irony that a state, richly endowed in material and human resources, wallows in inexplicable privation. Our unproductive taste has sustained the dichotomy between the rural areas and the urban centres. All attempts at improving infrastructural deficits seem concentrated at the capital of the state. Government intervention, where available, has been grossly inadequate in addressing the socio-economic challenges faced by the masses. Our administration shall, decidedly, try to close the gap between the hinterland and urban centres.

Real development can only be actualized and accentuated through an active symbiosis between the two, an understanding predicated on collaboration and co-existence designed for amity and progress. Our people will be encouraged to participate in the massive reconstruction contemplated by our administration in this regard. Any honest indigene of the state must be disturbed by the crisis in the educational sector at present. The philosophy of education, conceived on the idea of functionality for improved living by our forbears, has been reduced to a routine certification ritual, the culmination of which is the award of certificates, diplomas and degrees to graduates who are left more confused than when they enrolled in school. The unemployment crisis, apart from being a global socio-economic phenomenon, is self-inflicted.

If education is the nurturing, training and mobilization of those who live in a society to confront the challenges of development, faced, primarily, by the people in that environment, the current situation confirms that we have since departed from that well-trodden path for a very long time now.It is a big shame that a state, which was a clear leader in education in the country, now lags behind.

It appears that our curricula at all levels of training have failed to produce experts whose contributions to the growth of the economy are needed. Our administration will strive to reverse this unfortunate trend by promoting functional education aimed at real development.

We shall also revisit the issue of vocational training with a view to improving the skills of our artisans. We recognize that the issue of unemployment is endemic. We equally understand that the greatest employer of labour, at a time such as this challenging period, is the private sector. The government will ensure that the environment remains peaceful and conducive for economic activities.

In addition, we shall deploy considerable energy into agriculture. Through this, we hope to generate employment for the teeming youths. This administration will do everything possible to encourage investment in agriculture. Our youths must be ready for training necessary to kick-start this mission. We must begin to deemphasize white-collar jobs.

The era of unproductive civil service is winding to a close, gradually. The current economic realities make the deployment of the unemployed to other sectors, other than agriculture and rural development, unsustainable. We must train our youths to acquire entrepreneurial skills as a corollary to our programme on agriculture.

The health care delivery system currently operating in the state will be sustained and improved upon. We shall adopt a deliberate policy to ensure that our people have access to health care regardless of their social status. We intend, within the available resources, to provide qualitative primary health care delivery system to the rural populace. Health care centres in the rural areas will be accessible and functional. Our policy on massive infrastructural development will seek to open up the hinterland through our roads and waterways.

Our state has the longest coastline in the country. It is unthinkable that all economic activities are restricted to land while our waterways are abandoned. Opening up the hinterland will reduce, drastically, the perennial rural-urban drift and encourage our sons and daughters who live outside the state to consider returning home to contribute their own quota. The economic propensities of such a venture will be, unimaginably, exponential.

We are all witnesses to the negative impact that our local economy has been subjected to as a result of over-reliance on federally allocated funds for even the most basic recurrent expenditure items. It is high time that we looked inwards and come up with a solution that ensures we are sustainable and viable as a collective entity. We shall develop a comprehensive Development Plan that focuses on leveraging our collective resources and areas of comparative advantage for the benefit of our people.

The plan will detail our philosophy and response to surviving in this harsh economic climate. In addition to this, it will also take a medium term view to our economic development on an overall basis, and more importantly ensure that we remain consistently above board during economic booms and bursts.

We will adopt a collaborative approach to get this done by ensuring that we engage with the other segments of the public sector, as well as the private sector in developing and implementing our ideas of transforming the economy of our great State within the shortest possible period. All these lofty aspirations will remain a mirage if those saddled with the responsibility of implementing the decisions of the government do not support with dedication, honesty and patriotism.

I acknowledge the very important role that the Civil Service has played, and continues to play in the development of our beloved State. I understand the challenges, and these are quite apparent to those within and outside the system. We will work towards addressing these challenges in delivering on our mandate to our people. We particularly seek the support and cooperation of the Civil Service and all organs of labour.

We will drive efficiency through capacity building and training needs assessment targeted at retooling our civil servants. Be rest assured that your welfare, training, capacity building and the overall interests of our people will be one of the highest pillars of our mandate. We acknowledge the constraints that our current financial situation will place on our ability to deliver on our mandate.

We however, believe that an adequate focus on transforming the current socio-economic status of our State will lead to substantial internally generated revenue for our State. We believe that Ondo State has the required resources – human and material to ensure our sustainability in the short, medium and long term. We are looking at building on our existing relationships with local and international development partners. Many of them have been there for us in the time past, and we reach out to them, especially at the new dawn in the administration of our State.

I am therefore using this opportunity to reach out to businesses, manufacturers, private investors as well as potential international partners. You are welcome to Ondo State.

We commit to partner with you in developing the economic potentials of our State for the benefit of all our stakeholders. The collective deployment of our resources, combined with those of our neighboring and sister States cannot be over-emphasized. Our administration believes that we can achieve a lot more if we work with a number of our sister State Governments to ensure that certain development efforts (infrastructure or otherwise) are channeled in such a way as to deliver maximum benefits for the participating States.

We believe we don’t have to build or develop everything ourselves. There is a lot we can gain if we harmonise efforts and resources to build enduring assets that can cater for the needs of every one of us. Security of lives and property shall be guaranteed. Our administration will protect all and sundry. We will act in the interest of everyone.

We will be there for all. All those who will add value to governance in the state shall be engaged. We believe that the inputs and participation of every stakeholder is required for us to succeed and deliver our mandate.

We will provide numerous avenues for direct engagement with our people. Whether you are civil servants, market women, students, vulnerable groups, artisans, professionals, we will have specific means of reaching out to you to feel your pulse, and more importantly to seek inputs into programs and policies that will directly impact your lives.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is indeed a brand new day! With the assistance of the Almighty God and the good people of Ondo State, we hope to take the state out of the morass of privation, hopelessness and desperation. The welfare of our people shall be the fundamental objective and directive principle of governance in Ondo State. Your Excellencies, My lords, ladies and gentlemen and my good people of Ondo state, the hour is here and our Journey to Redemptioncommences now.

And to God Almighty, the creator of heaven and earth, the author and finisher of all things perfect and excellent I say: “Forth in thy name oh Lord I go, my daily labour to pursue, thee only thee resolved to know, in all I think or speak or do.

The task thy wisdom has assigned o’ let me cheerfully fulfil in all my works thy presence find and prove thy acceptable will”.

Long live Ondo State,
Long Federal Republic of Nigeria.
I thank you very much for listening. God bless.

God bless.

The UNTOLD SECRET Resolution Of Southwest Leaders At Ibadan Meeting; The Hot Exchange; How Regional Sole Leadership Annulled

tinubu and Southwest APC leaders
Emerging report from the much talked Ibadan southwest leaders' meeting suggests that the region has seized to be controlled by a single person as the leaders have unanimously adopted the collegiate leadership style for the region, report according to ThisDay Newspaper detailed.

According to the report, it was sanctioned at the Ibadan meeting that each leader should hold their local authority in the politics of their state. Meaning no single individual will be regarded as the regional leader.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) met in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, ostensibly to review the state of the party in the zone, some of the sordid details of the reportedly heated meeting, which forced the idea of collegiate leadership have begun to emerge, especially the alleged dirty in-fighting that took place amongst some of the gladiators.

It was gathered, according to ThisDay Newspaper that the Ibadan peace meeting almost went out of control when some of the leaders started to accuse one another of betrayal and disloyalty to the leadership in the zone.

The meeting, it was learnt, had started with opening remarks from the host governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, followed by a former chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, who admonished the gathering before a former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, further laid the foundation for discussions at the meeting.

Although the leadership of the party had also brought to the meeting, some development professors to address the gathering on development concepts and see what to take away from it to their respective postings, some of the participants had quickly pointed out that the meeting was not called for lectures on development concepts but to resolve the animosity that exists within the caucus in the zone.

Whilst the meeting had allowed all present to speak their mind about whatever ill-feelings they had, the dirty fights did not however start till the Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, and the former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, reportedly openly attacked his Ogun State counterpart, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who is the immediate past governor of Ekiti State.

According to sources, Aregbesola was said to have screamed at the top of his voice, accusing both Amosun and Fayemi of betrayal to the South-west leadership, insinuating also that they were the very reason the party in the zone is in the state it is.

He was said to have made specific reference to the post-Ondo governorship election meeting held some weeks ago in Abeokuta, Ogun State, saying Amosun set them up by revealing details of the meeting verbatim.

It was at that point that Fayemi, who allegedly did most of the talking was said to have stood up to state his case in a manner that laid the tone for further discussion.

Starting with the allegation of betrayal and disloyalty, specifically against Tinubu, Fayemi was said to have told the gathering that comparing him to the late Chief Ladoke Akintola of the old western region had gone on for too long and that it was a story sold by Aregbesola and his likes to make him and the others look bad.

He was said to have asked the meeting to determine between the two of them, the person that suits the Akintola description – either him that stood by the party and did that which the party wanted or Aregbesola who revolted against the party and even posted one of his most trusted aides, Mr. Bola Ilori, to campaign for a candidate of a different party.

He was said to have told Tinubu that he was fond of believing every tale brought to him by Aregbesola, without as much as checking with others, adding that except he starts treating all of his mentees equally, he would continue to have the kind of problem he is having with a majority of them in the party.

He was said to have further asked Tinubu if he had ever called him to speak about where his interest was and he worked against it (referring to the Ondo crisis), a question to which Tinubu was said to have quickly dismissed, saying also that as a democrat he (Tinubu) had no interest in anyone but was only forced to speak up when Dr. Tunji Abayomi accused him of bias.

On this note, Fayemi therefore affirmed his position on the Ondo election, saying since there was no direct order from the top, apart from the manipulations by Aregbesola and his cohorts, he had a right as an individual to support whoever he wanted the same way Aregbesola opted for a non-APC candidate in an APC battle.

According to another source present at the meeting, Fayemi also made specific mention of an interview believed to have been orchestrated by enemies within to make him look bad by claiming he disparaged the leadership of Tinubu in the zone.

Before denying having anything to do with the interview which went viral on the social media, Tinubu was said to have quickly intercepted, saying he saw the rebuttal by Fayemi and that he believed his own side of the story. But Fayemi complained that such a move showed the degree of desperation by some elements within to demonise some of them believed to be rebellious to the leadership of Tinubu in the zone.

Amosun, who allegedly had his own altercation with Aregbesola was however said to have added that it was bad enough that the fake Fayemi interview went viral on the social media, that some of such falsehood gained prominence on the front page of a national daily believed to be owned by their leader spoke volume of the bad blood within.

He was said to have also told the gathering to ask if there was anything Tinubu had asked of him and he did not do, yet he gets most of the attacks and criticism from a newspaper believed to be Tinubu’s and by extension, theirs as a political family. He said he nursed no guilt because his conscience was clear and therefore left everything to God if he ever did anything deliberately to undermine Tinubu.

A few other persons, like another former governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, also spoke their mind in the bid to clear all grudges. It was Adebayo, according to sources that plainly situated the collegiate leadership idea before it was accepted by the whole meeting, which sanctioned that each leader should hold their local authority in the politics of their state.

When it was certain that all present had spoken their mind on their grievances, Akande then asked Tinubu to do a general response to all that was said by everyone since they were largely about him, with a view to putting the animosity behind them at once.

Thus, in his response, Tinubu was said to have dismissed allegations of bias amongst his mentees and also refuted the allegation that Aregbesola was snitching on the others, saying he had tried as much as possible to be fair to everyone to the best of his ability and that he had nothing against anyone.

He allegedly tried to justify this by recalling that he recently spoke to the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, from overseas, where he was vacating and had jocularly told him that “You are working hard there and I am enjoying here.” The same way he allegedly reached out to Fayemi days back to help attend to some foreign nationals, who needed help.

To that end, he reportedly appealed to everyone to let go of the bickering, adding that the future of the party in the zone was the most important thing to its leadership.

It was against this backdrop that a reconciliation committee comprising Akande, Osoba, Adebayo and Tinubu was set up to look into all the issues raised and resolve them once and for all.

Soon after the committee was set up, Ajimobi was said to have quickly given an idea on how to start, saying there would not be genuine reconciliation without first reconciling for instance, Fashola and his successor, Akinwunmi Ambode; Fayemi and Aregbesola; Amosun and Aregbesola; as well as himself and the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu.

On that note, the Ibadan meeting ended, with the younger elements, having their way with the pushed collegiate agenda and the older folks agreeing to their terms in the interest of peace and the development of the region.

Why We Won't Defect From APC But Rather ... - Tinubu, Southwest APC Leaders

Why We Won't Defect From APC But Rather ... - Tinubu, Southwest APC Leaders

Tinubu amd aregbesola
The members of the All Progressives Congress APC, have vowed not to leave the party, but rather agreed on the need to demand more infrastructural projects for the zone.

This declaration was made in Ibadan during the southwest leaders meeting of the Party, News Punch has learned reliably.

Credible sources, according to Punch Newspaper said the meeting, which some thought would be stormy, was “tactically” taken over by a national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

One of the governors, who attended the meeting, said  the former governor of Lagos State took control of the meeting after he reportedly said let bygones be bygones.

The source said, “Tinubu,  must have read our mood and must have known that people were really angry with roles played by some us, especially during the Ondo governorship election which we are not happy with.

“His intervention saved us a lot of time we could have wasted in accusing each other of one thing or the other. From then on, the meeting progressed well.

“In order not to have any discordant tunes from what we agreed to tell the world through the media, that was why we appointed Aremo Segun Osoba to brief you (reporters).”

One of the ministers, who was also at the meeting, said it was resolved that the zone must remain in the APC and that it was wrong to assume that President Muhammadu Buhari did not treat the zone well in his cabinet and other appointments.

For example, he said the zone was well represented in the Federal Executive Council, where ministers from the zone are holding key ministries.

He said, “We have the ministries of Power, Housing and Work, Solid Minerals, Finance, Communications, Information and Tourism, Health, State for Niger Delta.

“So, we agreed that it was wrong to say the President did not treat the zone well.

“We also said we should not allow ourselves to be pushed out of the house that we built.

“We remain an important pillar in the APC and we won’t allow anyone to either provoke us to leave the party or think of moving to another party or form a new one.”

He said what was agreed on was that the ministers and the governors should also carry members of the National Assembly from their states along in their activities.

“The meeting gave those present an opportunity to do a near mid- term assessment of this administration vis a vis how Nigeria, especially how the South-West, has fared.

“It was not lost on all in attendance that Nigerians are groaning under economic hardship and there is the need to offer suggestions on how best to end the sufferings of the people within the shortest possible time.

“Baba Akande is the one tasked with delivering our message to Abuja.”

Those holding cabinet positions were reminded of the fact that they must see themselves as representatives of the hopes and aspirations of people in the zone. They were also told in clear terms that there was no excuse strong enough to justify failure.

The meeting was attended by the six governors and ministers.

Also at the meeting were national officers of the party and other party leaders from the zone.

In a renewed effort to put its house in order, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has slated a meeting of its senior members for today in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, with a view to closing ranks ahead of the 2019 elections.

The meeting, which is at the instance of the former chairman of the party and one time governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande, is conceived to see if the deep seated animosity amongst its senior and prominent members could be addressed in collective interest.

In addition, the meeting, it was learnt would also address the issue of the development of South-west within the change agenda and see what progress has been made and how much more could still be made before the present term of the government winds down to a close.

Twice, attempts had been made to look at the state of the party in the zone as well as the development of the region within the collective of the federation.

The first was the meeting at theamEovernment House in Ibadan, which recorded about 50 per cent success, and the second, which held at the Government House, Abeokuta, Ogun State, but ended on a bitter note of rivalry.

The state of the party in the zone, however, deteriorated before and after the Ondo State governorship election, which was believed to have sharply factionalised the APC along two interests: The Bola Tinubu Group and the President Muhammadu Buhari camp.

Unfortunately, the rivalry had taken a messier slant as majority of those believed to be siding with the president are former allies of Tinubu, all of whom rose to political reckoning through his means and support.

But whilst the accused have dismissed allegation of betrayal and backstabbing in the party and collective interest, nothing has shown that the house was one and the same, a development that could pave the way for a major political disaster in 2019.

It is against this backdrop, that Akande requested for a meeting of all the stakeholders from the governors to the minister and of course, the central character, Tinubu, to sit at a table and explore peaceful options of co-existence in collective interest.

Although there were feelers that Tinubu was not in the country as at yesterday afternoon, sources said he would eventually make it to the meeting as he had already confirmed attendance.

However this meeting turns out, observers are of the view that it would further reveal either the underbelly of the crisis trailing the party in the zone or dismiss reports of the deep animosity believed to exist amongst the characters in the party from the zone.
