A Lagos Federal High Court has restrained Stella Oduah and Sea Petroleum and Gas Company Ltd., from making any withdrawal from its account and those of three other companies domiciled with 21 banks.

The other companies include: Sea Shipping Agency Ltd, Rotary Engineering Services Ltd, and Tour Afrique Company Ltd.

The court issued the orders over an alleged indebtedness of the defendants in the sum of about $16.4 million and N100.5 million.

Also, the court issued an order directing the said commercial banks harbouring the assets of Stella Oduah and the four companies to sequestrate their indebtedness as at November 2016.

The court ordered that the money should be kept in an interest yielding account in the name of the Chief Registrar of the Federal court, pending the determination of the suit filed before the court to recover the debt.

The order of the court was sequel to an affidavit deposed to by Business Manager of Sterling Bank Plc., Segun Akinsanya, filed and argued before the court by its Counsel, Kemi Balogun (SAN).

In the affidavit, Mr. Akinsanya averred that on October 8, 2012, the bank granted a lease /Cabotage Vessel Finance Facility (CVFF) to Sea Petroleum and Gas Company in the said sums to finance one unit 5,000 MT tanker vessel.

He said that the loan was secured by an unconditional personal guarantee of the companies’ director, Stella Oduah.

Mr. Akinsanya also said that same was supported by a statement of her net worth, legal mortgage of two properties worth N135 billion, and a power of Attorney of the tanker vessel in favour of Sterling Bank.

Also in support was a fully executed standing payment order and tripartite remittance agreement between First Bank plc, Sterling Bank and Stella Oduah.

It was further averred that in June 27, 2013, Sea Petroleum Company requested and was granted additional facilities in the sum of about 450,000 dollars for post delivery expenses.

He said that also granted was about $993, 000 to meet the requisite conditions in securing the release of the tanker.

Also, he averred that upon the persistent failure of the defendants to liquidate their indebtedness, Sterling Bank instructed its counsels to recover the debt.

He said that in spite of several reminders, and demands, the defendants had failed and refused to liquidate their indebtedness which had culminated to $16.4 million, and about N100.5 million as at November 2016.

Mr. Akinsanya also averred that the defendants were also greatly indebted to a number of banks and had conceded a number of assets to AMCON who had stepped into the shoes of those banks.

He sais that there was imminent risk of the defendants dissipating the assets of the companies.

The plaintiff urged the court to grant the order restraining Stella Oduah and other directors of the companies from withdrawing money from the account of the companies domiciled with 21 banks pending the determination of the debt recovery suit.

In an ex -parte application filed and argued before the court by Mr. Balogun, he stated that it had been difficult to serve court processes on the defendants.

The judge, Abdulaziz Anka, consequently ordered that court processes be advertised in national newspapers.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Oduah and her companies urged the court to discharge the order made against them.

They also filed a preliminary objection to the suit and urged the court to strike out the suit for lack of jurisdiction.

Justice Anka fixed March 20 to decide whether or not to vacate the order.

Fayose Bribe Saga: Human Right Lawyer, Mike Ozekhome's N75m Account Frozen, Lawyer Kicks

Fayose Bribe Saga: Human Right Lawyer, Mike Ozekhome's N75m Account Frozen, Lawyer Kicks

Mike Ozekhome and fayose
A human Righ Lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Mike Ozekhome's bank account containing N75 million has been frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, alleging the money is a proceed of a bribe involving Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.

Mr.Ozekhome, in a swift reaction yesterday, said the N75 million in his GTB account was not a proceed of crime as alleged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission but his legal fee for work done for Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.

The anti-graft agency had earlier in the day secured a judgement through a motion ex-parte from a Federal High Court, Lagos court freezing the account.

Arguing the ex-parte application, EFCC’s lawyer, Idris Abdulahi Mohammed, while asking for a 120-day freezing of the said account to allow for thorough investigation on it, informed the court that the motion was brought pursuant to Section 29 of the EFCC Act.

Attached to the application were three exhibits marked 01, 02 and 03 along with an affidavit of urgency sworn to by an officer of the agency, Tosin Owobo. Justice Anka while granting the request disclosed that any party that is not satisfied with the ruling can go on appeal.

Reacting to the judgement, Ozekhome however stated such move was an invidious lie from the pit of hell. “For the records, the N75 million was paid into my account by my client, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, as part payment of Professional Fees for the numerous cases my chambers is currently handling for him (in his personal capacity) and his aides across Nigeria.

The money is neither “suspected proceeds of crime’’ nor of money laundering.

“On the 13th day of December, 2016, I defeated the EFCC in a judgment delivered by the Honourable Justice Taiwo O Taiwo, sitting at the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti. In his judgment dated 13th December, 2016, the court ordered the EFCC to immediately defreeze two accounts belonging to Governor Fayose and domiciled with Zenith Bank Plc, which accounts EFCC had, illegally , unconstitutionally, an in a most uncouth and cavalier manner frozen and blocked in Zenith Bank Plc.

The court described the action of the EFCC as ‘’illegal, wrongful, unconstitutional and unlawful’’. Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo, the same lawyer who was said to have obtained the ex-parte order blocking my account from Honourable Justice Abdulazeez Anka, is the very counsel for the EFCC in the case I won for Governor Fayose before the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (retd.), had said the agency arrested three suspects – Oscar Okafor (importer), Mahmud Hassan (clearing agent) and Sadique Mustapha (escort) – in connection with the arms smuggling.

He had explained that some other customs officers were arrested, adding that investigations were ongoing.

However, the spokesperson for the FOU, Jerry Attah, told Our source  on Tuesday that the suspects were cooperating, saying the two officers were declared wanted for their roles in the incident.

He said, “Immediately the weapons were uncovered, they took to their heels and that is why we are declaring them wanted. They were the ones that examined and checked the container at the Apapa port.

“The other suspects, including three other officers, are still in our custody pending the conclusion of investigations. There will be no half measures. We will get to the root of the case.”

Our correpondent saw a document, signed by the DCG Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection, Dan Ugo, declaring the two men wanted.

The document, which displayed their pictures and force numbers, said, “The above customs officers are wanted in connection with the clearance of a one-by-40-foot container no PONU/825914/3 found to contain 661 pump-action rifles.

“Whenever/wherever seen, they should be arrested and taken to the nearest customs formation….”

It will be recalled that customs officers on patrol along the Mile 2 Apapa Expressway intercepted a container with 49 boxes stuffed with 661 pump-action rifles.

The manifest, which accompanied the 40-foot container was said to have declared that ‘steel doors and other merchandise goods’ were in the container.

The officers, however, found boxes of the weapons concealed deep in the container which came from China and was routed through Turkey.

SHOCKER: How US-Based Girlfriend Duped Governor $10m Bailout Funds Given By Buhari; You'll Be Shocked, Cry For Nigeria

SHOCKER: How US-Based Girlfriend Duped Governor $10m Bailout Funds Given By Buhari; You'll Be Shocked, Cry For Nigeria

Nigerian Governors
A governor is under probe after the sum of $10 million he diverted from the bailout funds allocated to his state was hijacked by his mistress.

The governor was said to have commissioned his mistress to help him launder the said sum only for the latter to refuse to remit it in the slush accounts the governor provided.

Already, the money in question has been traced to a bank in the United States.

that Scattered My Relationship For 2years.. Click HERE for Details

The Nation investigation revealed that the governor resorted to using his US-based mistress to stash the funds abroad in order to avoid monitoring by security agencies.

The cash was allegedly either wired or hauled in tranches in order to beat the nation’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).

In spite of the governor’s tricks, however, security agencies were able to intercept the deal between him and his mistress.

It was gathered that the diversion of the looted $10 million by the mistress created an uproar that triggered the ongoing investigation of the deal between the love birds.

One of the sources involved in the probe said: “A governor from an oil-producing state is in soup and under probe by some security agencies.

“The governor seems to have been duped by his mistress who stays in Texas in the United States.

“The governor is worried after discovering that his girlfriend has defrauded him of $10 million.

“What started as a love affair and promises of good faith has turned sour.

“Yet the governor would not want his wife or the people of the state, who will be disappointed, to know about this ugly transaction.”

The security chief added: “Investigation so far indicated that the governor allegedly diverted part of the bailout funds meant for his state to the mistress.

“All relevant security agencies are already tracking how the cash was wired to the mistress as well as the whereabouts of the funds.

“Very soon, the details of the transaction will be revealed to Nigerians.

“This is why the government has decided to monitor how bailout funds and London-Paris loan refunds were spent.”

The Presidency in 2016 released the sum of N1. 266.44 trillion to 36 states within nine months.

The breakdown includes N713.70 billion special intervention funds to states and London Paris Club loan refunds of N522.74 billion.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) had said 16 states were yet to disburse about N57, 663, 185, 735 of the bailout funds approved for them by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The agency also indicted some of the states for diverting the bailout funds which were meant for workers’ salaries.

Army Converts Captured Sambisa Forest To Military Training Ground

Army Converts Captured Sambisa Forest To Military Training Ground
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai has disclosed that Sambisa Forest, which was recently recovered from insurgents, will now serve as training centre for the army.

He said already, he had directed that the Nigerian Army small arms championship for 2017 should hold in the forest.

This is just as former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has hailed the successful recovery of Sambisa Forest by the Nigeria Military, saying it has further confirmed his confidence that President Muhammadu Buhari will crush Boko Haram.

Speaking at a camp fire ceremony with troops of 145 Battalion Damasak, Borno State, to mark Christmas celebration, Buratai said: “We are opening up roads in Sambisa Forest to site a base. It is going to be one of our training centres in the country as well as ground for testing acquired equipment before putting them into operation. A similar thing will be established at Alagarno, the former acclaimed spiritual base of Boko Haram before their defeat there.

“ We want to thank you, officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army, especially the theatre commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, the GOCs and all the soldiers fighting insurgency in Borno and Northeast for bringing Boko Haram terrorists to their knees. My gratitude also goes to the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Navy whose collaboration has made the work fruitful.”

Earlier, the Chief of Army Staff reopened the Maiduguri-Gubio-Kareto-Damasak and Maiduguri-Monguno-Baga highways for commercial activities, following the emerging peace in Borno, with a strong warning to the personnel and members of National Union of Road Transport workers and National Union of Road Transport Employees to desist from any sort of extortion on the highways.

The two major highways, which are transit routes for trade between Nigeria, Chad and Niger Republic, particularly in the areas of smoked fish, hide and skin, cattle, gum Arabic, rice and beans, among others, were closed two years ago by the military because of Boko Haram activities.

Buratai charged troops to ensure that the highways are not only free from accidents, but also free from insurgents.

“This is a great day as the occasion is dedicated to members of Road Transport workers and Employers whose activities were crippled by Boko Haram.

“But I must warn everyone assigned on this road not to indulge in any form of extortion from the road users as anyone caught will be dealt with,” he warned.

Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima, who witnessed the reopening of the roads, described this year’s Christmas as the best since his election as governor, because of the remarkable events in his life and that of Borno

“Since I was elected as governor of Borno state, this is the best Christmas I have ever witnessed. It is in this Christmas that the Nigerian Army established their supremacy against Boko Haram in Sambisa. It is in this 2016 that many communities were liberated from Boko Haram. It is in this same year that the 21 Chibok girls were rescued at once by the military. It is Borno and Nigeria’s year of Victory,” the governor stated.

In a statement in Minna, Niger State, yesterday, Babangida said he was highly delighted with the news of the successful operations of “Our gallant military personnel in the Sambisa Forest.”

He lauded the courage and determination of President Buhari, army chiefs and other security personnel for their sacrifices for the liberation of Sambisa Forest and adjoining abodes of Boko Haram.

The former president reiterated that the crushing of Boko Haram in Sambisa Forest has reaffimed his position that “President Muhammed Buhari and the military are capable of crushing any challenge of territorial integrity of Nigeria.”

“May I rejoice with the government and Nigerians on the successful dislodging of Boko Haram from their base in Sambisa. With the successful takeover of the Sambisa Forest, l hope that very soon, the remaining Chibok girls will be located and reunited with their families,” he added.

Babangida also paid tributes to all fallen heroes for paying the supreme sacrifice in their efforts of keeping the nation from aggression.

According to him, “the labour of our heroes past shall never been in vain.”

He further urged the military to unveil a new strategy of further defeating pockets of insurgents/terrorists, armed bandits and cattle rustlers all over the country.

Meanwhile, the federal government has congratulated the gallant troops of the Nigerian military for finally seizing the Sambisa Forest from the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists and securing the North-east, paving the way for the re-opening of two strategic roads in Borno state.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement, appealed to Nigerians to continue to support the troops as they clear the remnants of the terrorists who are now on the run.

He also called for increased vigilance among Nigerians, as Boko Haram escapees seek to integrate themselves into communities far and near, saying eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.

‘’We urge Nigerians to keep our gallant and victorious troops in their prayers, and to also imbibe the mantra of ‘if you see something, say something’ as a way of ensuring that no escaped terrorist is able to wreak havoc in their communities. It is also important to know that now that they have been dispossessed of their fortress, the Boko Haram escapees will intensify their cowardly attacks on vulnerable targets if only to maintain an illusion of terror. But there should be no panic because the worst is over,’’ Alhaji Mohammed said.

While commending the military for the re-opening of the Maiduguri-Gubio-Damasak road and the Maiduguri-Mungono-Baga road, he hailed Governor Shettima for his unwavering support for the military and his administration’s determination to quickly restore normalcy across the state.

The Minister said it was in recognition and celebration of the great feat performed by the military that he decided to lead over 30 Nigerian and international journalists to join the minister of defence, Brigadier Gen Mansur Dan Ali (retd), the service chiefs and the Governor of Borno state, at the opening of the two strategic roads.

Alhaji Mohammed said overall, the leadership provided by President Buhari provided the much-needed impetus for the military’s victory in the North-east, and urged Nigerians to continue to give their unalloyed support to the president in his untiring efforts to restore peace and security across the country and also revamp the economy.
