Rio 2016 Olympic: NIGERIA WRESTLERS SHINE IN SPAIN

Nigeria wrestlers continued their preparations for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, with yet another commendable outing in Madrid, Spain. 



The wrestlers led by the indefatigable President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Hon. Daniel lgali, began the matches with mixed results in the opening rounds of the Spain wrestling grand prix



And in the deciding bouts, Aminat Adeniyi defeated Hristov of Bulgaria by a pin - fall and also beat Mattson of Sweden, 4-3 to win a bronze medal. In another category, fast emerging star Odunayo Adekuoroye who had lost a earlier bout, bounced back to trounce her opponents from Argentina and Russia, 10-0 and 9-0 respectively to win a bronze medal. 



While Blessing Oborududu lost to Belarusian oppositions on criteria after the bout was scored 1-1, to claim a silver. 



Speaking after the tournament that featured 54 countries, lgali praised the athletes for putting up spirited performances. 



"This was a good test for the Olympics. I wish we had a few more tournaments like we had originally planned before the Olympics. 



"However, congratulations to all the young men and women for their tremendous efforts, " the former Olympic gold medalist stated.
