2019: Bisi Akande, Okupe, Fasehun Other Yoruba Leaders United In Ibadan Again, May Float New Political Party

Yoruba leaders meeting in Ibadan again to form a unify political front
Barely 15 days after the Southwest leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC met in Ibadan to seek peace among warring leaders, another Yoruba Leaders have also met to discuss the political future of the region.

It was gathered according to The Sun Newspaper that the Yoruba leaders in the Southwest geo-political zone may float a new political party ahead of the 2019 general elections with a view to demanding a new order for the country.

The indication emerged yesterday at a national colloquium organised by a pro-Yoruba political organisation, Yoruba Patriotic Movement (YPM) entitled “Resetting the Yoruba Nations Agenda for Rapid, Systematic and Sustainable Development”, held at Jogor Event Centre, Ibadan.

The colloquium, chaired by former Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, a former governor of Osun State, had in attendance Yoruba leaders from across various political parties in the country. The leaders agreed that if a new party would not be founded, most of them could move en masse into an existing party.

It was gathered according to Sun Newspaper that the Yoruba political leaders across various parties might come together and form a political party. The YPM wanted all political leaders and their followers, which cut across

APC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Accord Party (AP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Labour Party (LP) and others, to be in the only one political party that would be established.

The meeting agreed that there should be a Yoruba summit, Yoruba economic agenda and that all Yoruba groups should register under the YPM.

In his address, Akande said the focal point of the programme centred on unity in politics among the Yoruba, irrespective of party affiliation.

He said: “After this, whenever and wherever we will meet, even if not in my house, wherever we will meet, I must be there. However, we must understand our languages.”

Former Chief of Staff to ex-governor Adebayo Alao-Akala in Oyo State, Dr. Saka Balogun, who is the interim chairman of YPM, said: “We want as many as possible Yoruba politicians to be in the same political party. It might not be possible for all of us to be in the same party, but if most of us are in the same party, it would be more convenient for the agenda we plan to set to work out well.

“We are not seceding from Nigeria, but we are maintaining that we don’t want a situation where Yorubas will not be given the due respect or honour it deserves in this country. It is not compulsory that we establish a new party; it is possible that we all move en mass to an existing party. Such a party definitely won’t remain the same again.”

Former Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters to former president Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe, also noted: “We cannot but have a Yoruba agenda as long as we are in Nigeria. We must have an agenda. And it is not that we can come up with that here (at the meeting). But we must note it that we must have one.

“On restructuring of Nigeria, most people are misinterpreting us (the Yoruba) that we want to secede; that’s why we are clamouring for restructuring, but it is not true. Yoruba believe in our hard work. In the days of Awolowo, we can see what they made of the Western Region. Till today, both state and federal governments have not matched up with that standard.

“We are clamouring for restructuring so that we can have independence to harness our sweat, hard work and intelligence for the development of our people. You can’t compare educational setting in Ibadan, Ile-Ife and other parts in the Southwest with what is in practice in Maiduguri or Kano. One legislation cannot guide education throughout Nigeria, that is impossible.”

Okupe added: “In our agenda, we must re-echo it that education should be the bedrock of the agenda. Whatever it will cost us, we should be ready to give it. If we say we should wait till when Nigeria is ready to determine where Yoruba is heading to, it may spell doom. The constitution of this country accepts that we are a federation. And as a federation, we have the grace to call all Yoruba nation that this is the path we wish to tread as Yoruba people.”

Present at the meeting were former ambassador to the Philippines, Chief Yemi Farounbi; a leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr. Fredrick Fasehun; former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Doyin Okupe; and former military governor of Lagos State, Gen Raji Rasaki (retd).

Others were former Super Eagles chief coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde; former President General, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Chief Bayo Oyero; a chieftain of Accord Party, Senator Femi Lanlehin;  Aare of Efon Kingdom, Dr. Kunle Olajide; Secretary to Oyo State Government, Alhaji Olalekan Alli, who represented Governor Ajimobi; Prof Soji Adejumo; and Mr Tunde Adejuyigbe, who represented Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State.

God made Clinton lose, she wanted to edit the Bible - Okupe

doyin okupe
Doyin Okupe, former special adviser to former president Goodluck Jonathan, says Hillary Clinton lost the US presidential race because she wanted to edit the Bible.

Okupe, who quoted many verses of the Bible in celebration of a Donald Trump win as the 45th president of the US,  said “the Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought, He maketh the devices of the people of non effect. The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever”.

“Trump contested against the entire american establishment, against virtually all the mainstream media, against all the living past american presidents, against majority of world leaders including the current american president, and the celebrated Clinton machinery, and he won! Only God can do this,” Okupe said.

“Ps 2 vs 1,2,4 says ‘why do the people rage, and nations imagine a vain thing. The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and His annointed,. He that sitteth in heavens shall laugh, the Lord shall have them in derision’.

“Hilary Clinton, her husband Bill and the Democrats are the protagonists of liberalism in america. They encourage homosexuality, same sex marriage and all sorts of societal immorality in the USA.”

Okupe alleged that Hillary wanted to edit the Bible to accommodate current social realities, which he said led to her downfall.

“To make matters worse in July this year Hilarry publicly stated that, the words of the Bible (the Word of God) be changed to accommodate ‘current’ social realities.

“What a blasphemy against Jehovah, the maker and ruler of the universe, the God of all flesh, the only living and Supreme God. The bible says ‘the word of God is settled’ how can we imagine that God will allow someone who will change His word to have power! Vanity and nothing short of vanity.

“The events of today is a robust testimony to all, christian and non Christians, about the awesomeness of this God, who has ridiculed all the so called Principalities and Powers of the world and has used the foolish things of this world to confound the wise men of the world.

“God is going to usher in a new order in the world and its affairs. Only the righteous will prevail. For this historic victory, of a man with no experience in politics or public or military service, We give ALL Glory to the Almighty God and His Son Jesus Christ to whom all honour, praise and adoration, is due.”

Why Fuel Might Realistically Be Sold At N220/per Litre Soon - Doyin Okupe Predicts, Faults FG's Deregulation

Why Fuel Might Realistically Be Sold At N220/per Litre Soon - Doyin Okupe Predicts, Faults FG's Deregulation

Okupe
The former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Doyin Okupe has predicted that the Motor Premium Spirit, PMS popularly known as petrol might soon be sold at N220 per one litre, should the Federal Government deregulation of the downstream sector of the products is anything to go by.

Okupe in a facebook post this morning faulted the FG deregulation policy which he described as unrealistic considering the influence pose by the foreign exchange and government involvement. He posited that the deregulation may still fail after all

In his post few hours ago, Okupe said;

"Deregulation of the downstream oil sector is a right step in a right direction. But it does not have to come with hike in fuel price."

"The Hon Minister of state announced that anyone can bring in PMS, but must source the Forex at secondary markets. Yet the government, after, assuming an exchange rate of N285/$1, pegged the price at N145 per litre."

"There are unconfirmed reports that the Naira has been devalued to N290/$1. If that is the case the figure of N285 for secondary market value of naira is grossly faulted and unrealistic."

"The other issue is that there is an actual sustained and chronic shortage of dollar in the parallel market. In fact if prices were to follow demand and supply pull, the exchange rate will be somewhere over N400."

"With this prevailing forex market condition, the official price of N145 is a huge joke."

"The simple truth is this: there is no enough dollar to import the PMS, and even that which is available has a value that is astronomical."

"The second truth is that nobody can bring in the required quantity( approx $25m per day!!!!) and when it is imported, 90% of Nigerians will not be able to afford it, at a cost of about N220 per litre!!!"

"The only reasonable solution is to swap the 450,000 barrels of crude oil allocated for domestic consumption, with PMS imports."

"Corruption can be removed and the transaction made transparent by inviting interested marketers to bid for the 450,000 barrels openly by stating how much they will sell litres of PMS for each barrel of crude oil they are bidding for. Government then qualifies the marketers with the best offers and with financial and technical capabilities to support their bids."

"This way we remove huge dollar commitment from the transaction as well as protect PMS pricing from the negative effect of our depreciating currency."

"If properly packaged Nigerians can still buy PMS at below N90/litre and government can hands off retailing petrol."

Just yesterday, petroleum product marketers held a meeting with FG on the need to increase fuel pump price.

Shut Up! Buhari, APC Not Responsible For Our Party, PDP Failed Convention - Okupe Blasts, Reveals The Cabals Behind

Shut Up! Buhari, APC Not Responsible For Our Party, PDP Failed Convention - Okupe Blasts, Reveals The Cabals Behind

Doyin Okupe
Chief Doyin Okupe, a form aide to the ousted President Goodluck Jonathan and a prominent member of the opposition Peoples Democratic party has refuted claim by many of his party members that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and President Muhammadu Buhari are behind the botched national convention of the party earlier in Port Harcourt today.

Okupe in his latest facebook post shortly after the PDP postponed it convention said neither Buhari nor APC responsible for the failed convention but the PDP's internal conflict resolution machinery and desperate leaders who want to seize power of the party at all cost.

His words;
"The failed Pdp convention cannot and should not be blamed on our political adversaries. Rather the blame should rest squarely on the failure of internal conflict resolution machinery of the Pdp, the surprising naivety and desperation of many to seize power and control the party, and the gullibility of majority of the followership, who have become entrenched in the cesspool of pervasive impunity of our leadership over the years."

"However, it is commendable that the NEC threw sentiments aside and extended the tenure of the controversial caretaker commuter by one year and allowed for future expansion of the membership of the committee."

"The import of this is that the party has now officially jetissoned the "Microwave"strategy, hitherto, employed by the leadership, and allowed for ample time to address all issues. By allowing for new inclusions into the members of the caretaker committee, the leadership obviously has made room for possible reasonable negotiation with the Senator Amodu Sheriff 's group, which is inevitable and a political imperative, if the party must remain United."

"Again, this is neither the time for victory songs nor a season for political vendetta. This is time for seeking lasting and honest peace, time to rebuild from current ashes of flames of the inferno, of political opportunism, greed, selfishness and blatant brigandry and impunity."

"There may just be another chance to do it again especially now that our adversaries are burning their political access card."

Long live the PDP.
Long live the Federal republic of Nigeria.

Doyin Okupe Implicates Jonathan In Fresh Revelation of the $1.2b Arms Fraud Probe

Doyin Okupe Implicates Jonathan In Fresh Revelation of the $1.2b Arms Fraud Probe

DOYIN OKUPE
Former presidential aide Dr. Doyin Okupe, yesterday admitted collecting more than N100million from the Office of National Security Adviser(ONSA) when Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.) was in charge.

The former Senior Special Assitant (Media and Publicity) to former President Goodluck Jonathan said part of the cash was a N10milion vote to furnish his rented apartment.

The ex-President approved the release of the funds from his security vote, Okupe said.

He also faulted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) for making his heart-related challenge, called sinus bradycadia, public.

Okupe and his companies are under probe for allegedly receiving N162million illicit payments to him and his companies by Dasuki  and Chanchaga Local Government Area in Niger State.

In a reaction to his intermittent grilling by the EFCC, Okupe, who opened up on his Facebook page, said he used the funds allocated to him to run his office between 2012 and 2015.

He was hired in 2012 by Jonathan for propaganda purpose against the opposition, which was critical of the past administration.

Giving the details of how he collected money from the ex-NSA, he also confessed that his company secured contract from Chanchaga Local Government Area in Niger State.

He said:  “The initial N50m was approved by the President to be paid to me from his security vote. N10m was to furnish my rented living apartment and another N10m for my office. The balance N30m was approved as take-off grant.

“The N10m I received from the ONSA monthly was to run my office, pay salaries of staff, including overheads, pay expenses for our numerous press conferences, pay for publications in newspapers, magazines, local and foreign, television programmes, bulletins, and media consultants who assist and facilitate our work. I had about 23 staff, 11 were graduates out of which five were masters degrees holders.

“ The second N50m was approved again by Mr. President when I reported to him that the monthly allowance had been cut from N10m to N5m and that I was no longer in position to keep running a one hour NTA network programme called INSIGHT which was aired 9-10am every Friday.

“We paid NTA about N1.2m monthly for airtime. Two presenters were paid N600, 000 monthly.

The lead presenter on Insight earned N400,000 and the second presenter earned N200,000. We paid for tapes and editing per programme. Besides, we also pay honorarium for guests either directly or in form of hotel bills for those outside Abuja or transportation.

“This cost averagely N500,000 weekly or about N2m monthly. All in all, we spend about N4m monthly on the programme. Mr. President promised to help with the expenses. About a few months later when we had incurred some debts the NSA sent me this N50m which was to cover the cost of the program for 12 months.

“I am not a thief. I have only two houses in Lagos and in my hometown. The monthly allowance was not my salary. It was meant to be used to run the office. 40% went on salaries. Salary sheets with names and offices of employees were submitted to EFCC.

I was paid a salary of N853,000 per month through the office of the SGF.”

On the N76.5m contracts awarded to his firm, Romix Soilfix, by Chanchaga Local Government Area of Niger State, Okupe said the firm was “one of the over 20 construction companies who were duly awarded contracts for rural roads some five years ago by the Niger State Government”.

He said the jobs were delayed because of irregular payment to contractors by the council.

Okupe added:  “The job is still ongoing. The relationship of this to my service as senior special assistant to President is still not clear.”

Okupe faulted the EFCC for allegedly making his heart-related challenge, called sinus bradycadia, public.

He said: “I was born with sinus bradycadia, a non-disease based slowness of the heart. It precluded me from vigorous exercise from childhood but I have, by God’s grace, been able to live a normal and active life.

“With age, the slowness grew worse and life threatening. I sought medical help and went through a procedure at the Arrhythmia Cardiac Research Centre in Atlanta, where this defect was corrected. It was just a year ago and I am still under satellite monitor from the USA. This is what I revealed to the EFCC and they made it a public issue.”

Former media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has begged former President Olusegun Obasanjo in what he, (okupe) described as the misunderstanding between him and his former boss (Obasanjo) when he joined Jonathan's government few years ago.

Okupe who personally disclosed this via his facebook page said he led some of his friends to beg the former president.

According to Okupe; "Last sunday , in the company of some friends I met with Baba Obasanjo principally to try and settle and resolve the misunderstanding that has existed between Baba and I since I joined the Jonathan's Administration."

"Vintage Baba, he descended on me heavily and vented his anger copiously."

"I prostrated and held his feet as a well trained Yoruba man and pleaded earnestly for his forgiveness, occasionally given short explanations for areas I considered my actions were misunderstood."

"Also typical of Baba, ever willing to forgive a repentant son, we embraced, I even kissed him as a loving son."

'Politics sometimes is such a bad business, u hurt your friends and even benefactors, but its all that is well that ends well."

It would be recalled that Okupe during his stewardship as media aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, had attacked Obasanjo on several occasions.

Prominent among such attacks was his bitter reaction to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) General Muhammadu Buhari, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe has responded with bible verses.

Obasanjo in an interview with Financial Times in Nairobi on during the 2015 presidential campaign had said: “I’ll only go by the constitution. By our constitution, there must be a new government on the 29th of May and the constitution lays out how that new government should emerge.”

Okupe during the time reacted via his Facebook account to Obasanjo’s prediction that a new government will be formed on May 29, 2015, said: “Someone was reported to have said “A new government will be installed on the 29th of May 2015. “Lamentations 3 vs 37 says “Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass when the Lord commandeth it not? “Isaiah 7 vs 7 says “Thus sayeth the Lord God, it shall not stand neither shall it come to pass. “Please if you are a friend of President Jonathan say AMEN to this.”

Earlier before then Obasanjo had appointed Okupe as as one of his first aides when he became the first president after democracy returned to Nigeria in 1999, only for him to turn his back against Baba when he got a similar appointment from Jonathan many years later. Now that he has gone to bite more than he can chew, he’s desperate for Baba’s forgiveness, a source told Premium Times

Kachikwu, A Professional But Inexperience Politician & PR Manager - Doyin Okupe

Okupe
Former media aide to the former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Doyin Okupe has described the Minister of State of Petroleum and the Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation NNPC, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu as a professional, but who is not vast in politics and information management.

Kachikwu had come under intense criticisms over his recent comment on the ongoing fuel scarcity.

Okupe made this known in his latest facebook page titled ' On Kachikwu And Adesina'.

He said; "The Hon minister for petroleum appears to me to be strictly a professional CEO. I believe, from my little research of what he has silently done to restructure and refocus the company, that definitely he knows what he is doing. But he is completely in the dark when it comes to politics or information management."

On kachikwu and Adesina

I am not APC and NEVER will be.

I am not looking for employment and certainly not in an APC government. I Dont believe in APC, its leadership or policies.
But at my age, with the over 35yrs experience I have gathered in Nigerian politics and haven served in the Presidency twice, I believe I should at all times, try and share whatever little knowledge I may have towards helping to build a better Nation no matter who is at the helm of the affairs.

Nigeria ,Nigerians and Stake holders cannot afford to standby allow errors to be made only to turn round later and use it for political gains.
Now back to the subject matter.

The Hon minister for petroleum appears to me to be strictly a professional CEO. I believe, from my little research of what he has silently done to restructure and refocus the company, that definitely he knows what he is doing. But he is completely in the dark when it comes to politics or information management. And this of necessity must be so. I will personally advice the minister to employ a good public relations man and a good communicator who manages the company's interface with the public and media. Let the minister do his job of policy formulation and executive management of the NNPC in which he appears supremely competent.

As for Mr femi Adeshina, he definitely made an unpardonable slip. But should we hang him for i? NO.!!

Being a spokeman for a government is not one of the best jobs you want to do especially in difficult times like this.

Many times you are overburdened by your passion and commitment for your principal and as a human being you simply flip when you find yourself in a tight spot. In my career I have flipped and slipped severally, that is why I understand where femi Is coming from.

When you work very closely with the number 1 citizen in the country and you are privy to his thoughts, actions, and challenges, it takes divine wisdom, maturity and forbearance to hold your own if you feel the public is not appreciative of all the efforts the government is making. The mistake we all make under these circumstances is that, members of the public are not privy to what is being done behind the scene and neither are they interested. All the people want to see is results not efforts.

I believe femi knows where he went wrong. I have known and interacted with him for several years. He is not haughty and would never have contrived to insult the sensibilities of the Nigerian public. It is a goal down but the game has just started

Unless Buhari Takes These 5 Drastic Steps, Fuel Crisis'll Persist Till 'Thy Kingdom Come' - Okupe

doyin okupe
Former senior special assistant on Public Affairs to former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe,  has backed Nigeria’s junior minister of petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu and the policy of NNPC under his leadership.

Okupe in a statement issued on Facebook, made a case for Kachikwu while urging Nigerians to face the reality.

In the statement, he stated that he has no inter-personal relationship with Kachikwu, analysed why there is lingering fuel scarcity and how it can be curbed.

Read Doyin Okupe’s position below:

The minister of state for Petroleum is a Nigerian I know by reputation only. When he was appointed I actually wondered why on earth will a man in his exalted international position and pedigree come into the murky arena of the Nigerian oil business. It can only be patriotism.

Since he assumed office I have noticed a high level of professionalism and candour.

But Nigerians abhor the truth. The minister said a few weeks ago that it is cheaper to import fuel than process our crude locally. I thought that should be obvious to all discerning minds. Our newest refinery is 35years old.

The capacity of the refinery to fractionate Crude reduces drastically with age. In its best form you get about 51% PMS per barrel of crude refined. But at the current ages of our refineries we hardly can do more than 35-40%.

Therefore our policy of setting aside crude for local refining is outdated and counter-productive and should be stopped.

Secondly the minister said this present fuel crisis will tarry till May and all hell was let loose. The Hon Minister is right.

He quietly informed the nation that NNPC is now responsible for 100% of our fuel imports. The reason for this anomaly is not farfetched.

We consume 40m liters of PMS daily. At about $645/tonne that comes to about 55cents per liter is $22m/day. Which importer and which bank in Nigeria of today can open $22m daily?!!!!

Not even the Almighty NNPC! So that is the real cause of the scarcity. The truth is what the minister said, its not going away soonest.
The only reasonable, cost effective and efficient way of ensuring Nigerians get petroleum products regularly and continuously, without further complicating the unavailability of the dollar and its continued stagnation of the national economy, is by:
1. Scrapping the PPPRA.
2. Stopping the allocation of crude daily for local refining.
3. Allocating appropriate volume of crude to the oil majors under a transparent oil swap arrangement.
4. Invest in and improve the facilities of discharging PMS in all our Ports.
5. Completely deregulate the downstream.

Sector of the petroleum and stop the federal government from selling petrol. Previous Nigerian governments have sustained this practice to their detriment. We need not continue it especially in the face prevailing economic hardship.

It is not done anywhere and citizens are the ultimate beneficiaries.

It is shameful and embarrassing that small countries like Benin Republic, Togo and even land locked countries like Botswana and Swaziland do not have fuel queues.

VP Osinbajo Lied On The Altar - Doyin Okupe

VP Osinbajo Lied On The Altar - Doyin Okupe

Doyin Okupe, former senior special assistant to former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs has claimed that Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo lied in the church when he said the federal government in the last 10 years have not constructed a single new road.
Okupe who said he shares some things in common with Osinbajo warned against taking politics into the church. In his statement titled: “The VP and his Politics” he noted that the statement was a difficult one to issue.
“This is perhaps one of the most difficult posts I have made to date. Prof Yemi Osinbajo and I have a few things in common. He is a professional in politics like me. He is a practising Christian and a revered pastor. I am a practising christian and an aspiring evangelist,” he said.
He then drew more similarities between them. “We both are alumni of Igbobi College, Yaba. Lagos. His younger brother and mine were classmates at Igbobi and are both pastors of the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, where I became grounded in Christianity under the mentorship of the celebrated and revered man of God, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya.
“It was in this church and before a body of pastors undergoing a spiritual retreat that the Vice President went and said “that the federal government in the last 10 years have not constructed a single new road.”
“This statement is a lie and an absolute falsehood,” Okupe said, stressing that, “many people have said so but this is not why I am writing this.”
“My concern is the erroneous assumption that just because the VP is a Christian therefore every Christian is APC.”
“This why the VP’s statement is unfortunate, in that, it was a wrong statement made in a wrong place (church) and before a wrong audience.”
“The church must also be sensitive and mindful of the danger in bringing politics into the church.”
“For Prof Osinbajo, if only he remembered the Igbobi college motto “omnes unum in domino” meaning “all are one in the Lord”
he would not have committed such a blunder. Our God is God of APC, PDP, Labour etc”
“Haven said this the VP is someone I hold in very high esteem and he knows this. I am also proud of his role in this administration,” Okupe said.
