GAMSU SEEKS FOR BETTER EDUCATION IN NIGERIA
The Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) was filled to the brim last week where the contributions of late Pa. Gamaliel Onosode, a boardroom guru and his wife, Susan were echoed to the whole world to hear.

GAMSU fully known as Gamaliel and Susan Onosode Foundation was the brain behind the lecture which actually was the 3rd of its kind.

The attention of the day was on the falling educational standard in Nigeria and how to move it forward to a greater height.

The key note speaker who was the former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili called for a national conversation with a view to improving on the quality of human capital development in the country.

The National Economic Governance Conference, according to her will be the platform that would bring divergent stakeholders to brainstorm on the way forward for the country’s education.

The former minister, who spoke on “Finding Solutions to the Problems of the Nigerian Education System: A Multi Stakeholder Approach,” also urged the Federal Government to develop the political will to restore macro-economic stability in the country.

She said, “I expect the Federal Government to have the political boldness to restore macro-economic stability in the country. By this, I look forward to seeing a fine mix of the monetary policies, as well as an urgent exercise to re-position the economy and reduce poverty.  A good mix of the monetary and physical policies will see the nation and its citizens out of poverty”.

Going further, Oby who is one of the arrow heads of Bring Back Our Girls Campaign Team , said  that Nigeria  need to change the dynamics of our economy after four decades of oil boom that did not take us far.

“It is urgent for us to have a complete overhaul of the economy and to achieve this; it must not be the ideas of a few political elite”.
In her welcoming speech, the CEO of GAMSU, Mrs. Toyin Olanrewaju  reeled out the impact of the Foundation in our midst and the need for all hands to be on deck to make the dream of the foundation realized.
