EXPULTION OF GIWA FC PLAYERS: NAC Calls For Review
Following the recent circular from the League Management Company (LMC) directing all clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) not to feature players whose registration was acquired on the basis of the expulsion of Giwa FC from the league, the National Administrative Council (NAC) of the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF) has directed its National Secretariat to request the intervention of the relevant Football authorities, namely NFF, FIFA and FIFPRO to determine the status of the affected players regarding their restriction from participating in the league .
While the union respect the decision of the LMC to obey the recent court order to reinstate Giwa Fc back to the league pending the determinations of the matter the Union is equally worried that the LMC circular apart from directing the clubs not to feature the affected players while the league continues, which itself is highly discriminatory and breaches the relevant provisions of FIFA statutes and NPFL framework, was silent on sensitive issues that bothers on the players welfare, particularly as it affects their livelihood and career
The position of the Union is that the LMC and indeed all other parties and stakeholders that the"interest" of Players should always be Paramount in footballing decisions.
