Christian Leaders Berate Former President Jonathan Over US Speech
News Proof 6.2.17 No comments Edit Post
The Middle Belt Patriotic Front, an association of Christian leaders from the middle belt region have berated former President Goodluck Jonathan over his recent comments at the US Congress where he reportedly talked about the religious division in Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja,National Chairman of the forum, Bishop Musa Fomson described the statement by the ex-president as reckless and unpatriotic.
He urged the security agencies to immediately invite the former president for questioning to ascertain his intents.
He accused the former president of trying to exonerate himself of culpability in the current mess the country is in.
According to Fomson, the Jonathan administration contributed to the chaos being witnessed in the country presently.
He said, "it was the mindlessness of his administration that amplified the schism to a point where persons that were once neutral learnt to hate adherents of other faiths. It was Goodluck Jonathan that made religion and ethnicity into campaign issues in order to cover the incompetence of his rule in the quest for re-election.
He accused the former president of sowing the seeds of division through his, "ill advised romance with the then President of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, who even ran errand as weapons buyer, was instrumental to reducing Christendom into the current level where whatever CAN has to say is being second guessed."
He said ex-president Jonathan failed to tell his US audience that killers herdsmen would not be on rampage and occupy the position of the fourth deadliest group in the world if he and his aides had not stolen the money meant for buying weapons to defeat Boko Haram.
He said further, "Several of his aides, like Ankio-Briggs have stopped short of endorsing the war these militants are waging against the Nigerian state. His speech before the US House Committee stopped short of doing same by anchoring the attacks on oil export infrastructure on resource control.
He said, "If the former president thinks we have forgotten, his foot soldiers and multiple persons from the Niger Delta threaten to make the country ungovernable should he lose the 2015 election, which he glaringly lost because of his serial failures and rejection by Nigerians.
He blamed the current economic hardship in the country in the failings of the Jonathan administration.
He said, "if Goolduck Jonathan truly loves Nigeria, he must immediately stop all his subversive activities like the speech he made before the US House Committee in which he usurped the role of a sitting government by negotiating a US intervention.
"He must speak with all his cronies to return all monies stolen from Nigeria, whether it was the one meant for arms purchase, stolen from crude oil sales or foreign loans that were channeled into their personal pockets.
"He must ask his militants in the Niger Delta and their proxies operating as separatists in the south-east to immediately cease hostilities against the Nigerian state. His coded call for them to scale up attacks is well noted when he said "Also, the military crackdown in the Niger Delta will not end the agitation there. It will have the opposite effect of provoking the youths which will cause them to seek to acquire sophisticated weapons to defend themselves and their communities. This may in turn lead to secessionist movements and the reincarnation of the Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro led revolution and the Biafran Civil War."
He urged the relevant security agencies not to stand by idle while the former President mobilizes foreign support to destabilize the country, adding that preemptive steps must be taken to curtail the destabilization plot that Goodluck Jonathan is working on.
2019: Northern APC Chieftain Champions Jonathan/Fayose Campaign: Launches BringBackJonathan Rally Tomorrow
News Proof 26.1.17 No comments Edit Post
A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Borno State Grema Terab, a former chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency, has reportedly begun the 2019 campaign of BringBackGoodluckJonathan in the northern party of the nation. A decision the APC in Borno State is not handling with levity.
To this end, the All Progressives Congress, APC in Borno State, has distanced itself from a campaign message allegedly authored by former chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency, Grema Terab, calling for the return of President Goodluck Jonathan to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 general election.
The State Secretary of the APC, Bello Ayuba said a statement from the APC became necessary because Grema Terab has been parading himself as a member of the APC in Borno State whereas there is no record of him being registered as card carrying member of the APC in any of the 312 wards across the 27 local government areas of Borno State.
“Last night, many of our APC members in Borno State were shocked to receive messages on their mobile phones with the following words in quote: “Fellow Northern Youths, join the launching of our movement to Bring-Back-Goodluck-Jonathan in 2019; holding tmr, Thursday,Abuja. All Northerners have failed this country and no northerner (Muslim or Christian)has capacity. Let us Northerners also concede the Vice President to Gov Ayo Fayose. He is the most courageous, honest Nigerian leader today. Jonathan/Fayose 2019 ticket will transform our country. Fayose is man of masses and Jonathan is very humble and the most capable leader in Africa. He is also a very very very generous man. Whoever worked with Jonathan say goodbye to poverty. We need empowerment in Nigeria. Signed The Great Grema Terab (former chairman, SEMA, Borno State)”, the statement noted.
Adding, the statement said, “while we respect the freedom of any Nigerian, including Grema Terab to associate with any political party and aspirant of his choice for all elective office, we found it disturbing that some Nigerians are already assuming Terab is a member of the Borno APC for the fact that he always identifies himself as a member of the APC in Borno State mainly because he once held public office as Chairman of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency from 2013 to 2015 and also openly associates with public office holders in Borno State and in Abuja who are of the APC.
”The Borno APC wishes to quickly inform the public that Grema Terab is not registered with the APC in any of the 312 wards in the 27 local government areas of Borno State and therefore, should not mistaken for a member of the APC in Borno State. The Borno APC completely disassociate itself from from any campaign message to Bring Back President Jonathan in 2019 given our experience of his poor handling of the Boko Haram insurgency in Borno and other parts of the northeast which is evident in the series of revelations concerning gross misappropriation of funds meant from procurement of arms.
”We respect the right of any Nigerian to campaign for Jonathan but we find it rather disturbing that the name of Borno can be dragged into a campaign of such at a time we are celebrating giant efforts being put up by the APC administration of President Muhammadu Buhari which resulted in the fall of Sambisa Forest, the liberation of many communities from the hands of Boko Haram insurgents, the rescue of hundreds of our abducted sons, sisters and daughters including some of our Chibok schoolgirls from the hands of Boko Haram in addition to attracting ongoing military cooperation from the international in prosecuting the war against Boko Haram.
”The Borno APC will not support anyone trying to distract the war against terrorism under the guise of an ill timed ‘Bring-Back-Goodluck-Jonathan Campaign which even went as far as using the slogan of the Bring Back Our Girls Campaign which mocks the agony of parents of yet to be rescued Chibok schoolgirls and sensitivity of all Nigerians and the International community over the schoolgirls abduction that worries all human beings with common sense,” the APC said.
Obasanjo Tongue-lashes Jonathan As He Sneaked To Ogun Village To Mend Fence With Oyinlola, Others; You're Now Wiser..., Baba Says
News Proof 21.1.17 No comments Edit Post
Jestingly, former President Olusegun Obasanjo took a swipe at his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan when he sneaked in to his Obogun ancestral village home in Ogun State.
Obasanjo, who orchestrated Jonathan's enthronement and also an architect of his defeat in the 2015 election, minced no word when he said, "you are now wiser when you left office"
The rare meeting between the duo who were bitterly divided in the run-up to the election saw Obasanjo tell his host how wise he (Jonathan) had become since leaving office.
“When leaders come, they have little or no experience. When they have to go is when they have really amassed a lot of experience, where they have wisdom, their experience is in high demand, The Nation Newspaper reports
“Those like you and me who have the grace of God to bow out gracefully, if there is now what I call constitutional office, we have residual responsibilities for Nigeria,”Obasanjo said.
With Jonathan on the trip, which observers branded as fence mending yesterday , were former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Kabir Turaki; a former Minister of National Planning, Prof. Suleiman Abubakar; King A.J.Turner ;and a former Chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency( FERMA), Engr. Jide Adeniji.
They flew into the village in a chartered helicopter at about 11.30am.
The visit lasted about four hours of which Obasanjo and Jonathan alone spoke behind closed doors for 40 minutes.
No member of Jonathan’s entourage or Obasanjo’s associates was allowed into the inner room where the secret talks took place.
One source said yesterday that the visit was part of Jonathan’s new rapprochement with some of the key figures that had a hand in his defeat in the April 2015 polls.
Obasanjo received his visitor in company with former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who was ousted as National Secretary of the then ruling PDP by Jonathan and his loyalists.
Obasanjo took Jonathan round the village for a door-to-door greeting of the elders and the residents.
The people sang and danced in appreciation of Jonathan’s visit.
Obasanjo, welcoming Jonthan, said: “The first point I want to make is to thank you very sincerely and most sincerely for taking it upon yourself to pay us a visit at this point in time and at this location. Secondly, since you left office, you hardly have time to sit down and relax like you have been able to do today and I hope, I sincerely hope and pray for more such relaxed situation where we can reminisce on situations of the past that we have been through in this country and we can also look at what the future portends.
“I believe that not only Nigeria, West Africa and Africa and indeed the world will continue to tap our experiences, our wisdom and I hope and pray that when the call is made to you, you will be more than ready to put your experience, the lessons you have learnt into the service of this country, for African and indeed for humanity in general.
“ I have said to you before and I will say again that there are plenty of opportunities out there, within the country, within West Africa, within Africa and indeed in the larger world where people will want you to make contributions.
“I believe that you are resting now and when you have fully rested and you will be hearing from me because I have this opportunity to be around the world and if I mention your name in dispatch, I thank you sincerely that you have received us as we are in this village to prove to you that we are in a typical village, I was telling you that your village is better than mine.
“I want to say that we have it. Nigeria is a good country and we must never be tired of lifting the country up to the height that God has created it to be and God did not make a mistake when he put all of us together and if He doesn’t want us to be together no power in the world will have made us come together.
“My regards to everybody at home, especially your wife. Please, tell her that my wife sends her regards and I hope sooner or later we will be on your part of the world to enjoy the atmosphere together. I want to thank you on behalf of everyone here in this village.”
Explaining his mission,Jonathan said he had planned to visit Obasanjo during the yuletide in company with former military ruler, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), but the plan fell through owing to unforeseen circumstances.
He said the idea came about when he visited Babangida in Minna when the two of them agreed to come to Ibogun.
Jonathan thanked Obasanjo for the warm reception accorded him and entourage.
Thereafter, Obasanjo and Jonathan retired to one of the sittings rooms for “strictly personal talks for 40 minutes.”
Talks over, Obasanjo and one of his friends launched into the popular Yoruba game of ayo.
Jonathan watched as the game went.
A source at the meeting said he was “full of admiration” for it.
It was not immediately clear if the trip was part of the ongoing political realignment for 2019 general elections.
But a top source simply said: “It is a reunion of Papa and his son. Do not read any meaning into it.
“The ex-President decided to make it a private visit in order to be able to have frank talks with Obasanjo.
“During the visit, Obasanjo and Jonathan locked themselves up for 40 minutes. No member of Jonathan’s entourage nor Obasanjo’s associates in Ibogun was allowed to be part of the private session.
“All I can tell you is that the two leaders were able to iron out a few things and Jonathan has since returned to Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.”
“At the end of the visit, ex-Minister Turaki, who is the Chairman of ex-Ministers Forum, gave the vote of thanks.”
Jonathan started out as Obasanjo’s political godson having been plucked out of office as Bayelsa State governor to become presidential running mate in the 2007 election.
He went on to become president, following the death of President Umaru Yar’Adua and won the 2011 election.
The parting of ways came in 2015, following persistent disagreements between them with Obasanjo launching vitriolic attacks on Jonathan culminating in the tearing of his membership card of the PDP and openly campaigning against Jonathan’s re-election.
They had not seen eye to eye since then until yesterday.

If Pastor Adeboye Goes, Sultan Must Go – Reno Omokri Blasts FG Over Forceful Retirement
News Proof 9.1.17 No comments Edit Post
Ex- Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Reno Omokri, has reacted to the General Overseer, GO of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s retirement.
Recall that Adeboye, on Saturday announced he was stepping down as the overseer of the church in Nigeria, but will continue to head the ministry worldwide.
Omokri said the policy by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, FRCN forcing the pastors to resign was not in the best interest of the country.
On his Facebook page, the outspoken personality joined the league of persons who have shown mixed reactions following the cleric’s retirement.
He added to the reaction, posing some questions and wondering if the Sultan of Sokoto, being the president of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, III, would also be forced to resign.
He wrote: “Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria should not extend its tentacles to churches.
“Why should Pastor Adeboye have to retire because of the FRCN?
“This foolish law has already destroyed our banks by pushing out experienced CEOs and bringing in inexperienced leaders. Where does it end?”
“If Adeboye has to go as GO of RCCG, does it mean the Sultan of Sokoto also has to go as president of the Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs? Where does it end? He would also go then.
“When a handshake has passed the elbow it is no longer a handshake.
“This is not a law that was enacted by the National Assembly.
“It is a policy that was put forward by the FRCN. Please know the difference and don’t blame innocent persons,” Omokri stated, arguing that the same policy had destroyed the banking industry as it had forced many experienced chief executive officers to resign.
THE UNTOLD: How Jonathan, Diezani, Adoke, Others Shared $1.3b In Malabu Oil Fraud—Italian Prosecutors
News Proof 6.1.17 No comments Edit Post
Sahara Reporters - An investigative report by Italian prosecutors has alleged that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, former Minister of Petroleum Diezani Alison-Madueke, former Attorney Generals Mohammed Adoke and Bayo Ojo, former Minister of Defense and ex-National Security Adviser, Aliyu Gusau as well as numerous other senior government officials shared hundreds of millions of dollars. In an indictment obtained by SaharaReporters, Italian prosecutors alleged that Mr. Jonathan and several officials of his government as well as top corporate officials of international oil firms, Eni and Shell, met several times between 2010 and 2011 to seal the fraudulent Malabu deal and split a massive loot running into hundreds of millions between Nigerian government and public interests as well as corporate officials.
The indictment shows that former Abacha-era Minister, Dauzia Loya Etete, better known as "Dan Etete" and his Malabu company were at the center of the scam that involved the sale of an oil bloc named OPL 245 he illicitly acquired in 1998. According to Italian prosecutors, Mr. Etete had engaged Zubelum Chukwuemeka Obi to source for buyers of the oil bloc. Subsequently, Italian oil giant, Eni, the parent of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company Ltd (NAOC) and Royal Dutch Shell, contracted to acquire 100 percent of the 245 oil block for a deal that totaled $1.3 billion. However, Italian prosecutors are alleging that much of the funds was set aside for fraudulent payments to Mr. Jonathan and other government officials as well as corporate executives working for Eni and Shell.
Apart from naming numerous officials of the global oil firms, the indictment also fingered Mr. Jonathan, Mr. Etete, Mrs. Alison-Madueke, Mr. Adoke, former NSA Gusau, Mr. Obi, Mr. Ojo, and Alhaji Abubakar as beneficiaries from the Malabu fraud.
Among the corporate players named in the Malabu deal are Paolo Scaroni, Eni’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, and Claudio Descalzi, the Managing Director of Eni’s Exploration and Production Division since July 2008. The indictment states that Mr. Scaroni “agreed to intermediation by Obi,” and was constantly informed by Mr. Descalzi of the progress of developments in the deal. In addition, he and Mr. Descalzi met then President Jonathan in person twice, “both during the finalization of the agreements (13 August 2010) and at the final stage, during an electoral campaign rally in Nigeria on 22 February 2011.”
According to the indictment, Mr. Descalzi maintained steady contact with Mr. Obi and two key Eni employees in Nigeria, Roberto Casula and Vincenzo Armanna, who helped coordinate a deal in which Mr. Jonathan and other senior officials of his government would receive illegal commissions in exchange for approving the Malabu oil deal. Mr. Descalzi also coordinated with his Shell counterpart, Malcolm Brinded, on the $1.3 billion price tag for the oil block.
Other Eni and Shell officials also attended meetings with President Jonathan in Abuja on August 13, 2010 regarding the OPL245 deal and, again, on February 22, 2011. In addition, the indictment states that the two oil companies’ executives attended meetings from November 18 to 25, 2010, at Mr. Adoke’s offices in Abuja. Apart from Mr. Adoke, Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar also known as "AAA Oil" was also present at the meetings during which, according to Italian prosecutors, “the financial conditions of the deal (1.3 billion) were agreed.”
The firms’ executives also met with Mr. Dan Etete in Milan, Italy from November 30 to December 1, 2010 and finalized issues “relating to the commissions.” Mr. Armanna, the Senior Advisor of Nigerian Agip Oil Company Ltd and as Eni Vice President for upstream sub-Saharan activities, reportedly played a major role in the scam. The indictment accuses him of maintaining contact with Mr. Obi and Mr. Etete, even though he was “fully aware of the destination of most of the sums paid by Eni to the political sponsors of the operation” and that some executives of Eni and Shell, himself included, were to receive “significant sums” from the deal. He is also accused of coordinating the fraudulent deal with his Shell counterpart, Peter Robinson, and hosting meetings at his residence in Nigeria with Shell executives. Mr. Armanna reportedly “supervised the Eni negotiating team's drafting of the ‘resolution agreements.’” In addition, he met with Mr. Adoke numerous times to discuss the illicit transfers.
Italian prosecutors accuse Mr. Armanna of facilitating the Nigerian government’s active role in the Malabu deal, including the payment “of €1,092,040,000 intended for Etete, in addition to the ‘signature bonus’ of $207,960,000.” The indictment states that he coordinated with Gianfranco Falcioni and Bayo Ojo to transfer funds paid by Eni to the account of the Nigerian government at JP Morgan Chase London. As part of his reward, Mr. Armanna “subsequently received from Bayo Ojo the sum of €917,952 with the false payment reference of ‘Armanna inheritance.’”
The indictment states that, on October 30, 2010, Ciro Antonio Pagano, the NAE’s Managing Director, signed his firm’s offer to Raffeisen Bank, Obi's advisor, for the company’s 100% acquisition of Malabu’s “participating interest” in OPL 245. The payments comprised $207,960,000 to the Nigerian government as the signature bonus and $1,053,000,000 directly to Malabu.
The indictment names Mr. Obi as shareholder in the company Energy Venture Partners Ltd (EVP), and as the person “assigned by Etete to find a buyer for block 245.” Italian prosecutors allege that Mr. Obi agreed with Etete that the “so-called ‘excess price’ – between the sum that Eni/NAE was undertaking to pay and the amount accepted by Etete, would be withheld by Obi, with the expectation that the aforementioned premium would be distributed among Mr. Obi, his sponsors, Di Nardo and Bisignani, Eni and Shell executives and “Nigerian government officials, in particular the Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke.”
According to the indictment, Mr. Obi having met several times with Attorney General Adoke, and maintained direct relations with the AGF as well as with “persons connected to him, specifically Roland Ewubare and Oghogo Akpata.” He also maintained relations with Ms. Alison-Madueke and NSA Gusau, said the indictment.
The document also accuses Ednan Tofik Ogly Agaev of agreeing to a fee of 6% for his work as intermediary between Mr. Etete and Shell. It said Mr. Agaev, a Russian and former MI6 operative, subsequently worked for Shell as Senior Business Advisor and Strategic Investment Advisor. He is accused of meeting NSA Aliyu Gusau “on a number of occasions and having obtained information from him on the expectations of President Jonathan and other members of the government.”
The document describes Mr. Etete as “the fraudulent holder of the OPL245 exploration license since 1998.” He is also accused of “having received authorization from Minister of Petroleum Alison-Madueke to dispose of 100% of OPL245, following the decision of President Jonathan.” In addition, he “conducted confidential negotiations with Aliyu Abubakar, who acted as an agent of Goodluck Jonathan,” and “accepted, under government pressure, the total sum of $1.3 billion, established by Eni and Shell.”
Italian prosecutors also reported that Mr. Etete “received $801.5 million from the Nigerian government under the FGN Resolution Agreement, and having transferred to Abubakar Aliyu, directly or through companies attributable to him, funds of approximately $520 million, intended to be paid to President Jonathan, members of the government and other Nigerian government officials.”
The indictment also states that the Malabu deal involved an agreement that Dan Etete would use much of the funds from the sale of the oil bloc “for his own benefit and that of a large number of other beneficiaries to purchase property, aeroplanes, armored cars, etc.).”
The indictment added that “President Goodluck Jonathan and other members of the Nigerian government in office at the time, including Mrs. Alison-Madueke, Attorney General Muhammed Bello Adoke, National Security Advisor Aliyu Gusau, a member of the House of Representatives, Umar Bature, former Senator Ikechukwu Obiorah, and “holders of influence over President Jonathan and other members of the government” received huge payoffs from the Malabu deal.
