Compromising And Neglecting Intelligence: Threat To National Security
Unknown 3.4.25 No comments Edit PostEvery net has holes. But Boko Haram, herdsmen, bandits and other terrorist attacks have shown gaping ones in Nigerian intelligence agencies. Can they be fixed?
Intelligence process includes requirements, collection, processing and exploitation, analysis and production, dissemination and consumption, and feedback. The details of this process are made secret by the various intelligence agencies for their effective operations to smoke out terrorists and those that are potential threats.
The State Security Service (SSS), Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) among other intelligence agencies in Nigeria have intelligence network systems which information about a particular entity is collected through the use of more than one, inter-related source. They gather intelligence to build up a detailed knowledge of threats to Nigeria both from within and internationally, and the assessment and investigation process help to make decision about how they should respond. They have all it takes to infiltrate Boko Haram, herdsmen and any organization that pose a threat to Nigeria’s security, unity and progress. But corruption, tribalism, religion, ethnicity among others which lead to negligence; these agencies have been seriously compromised with irrefutable intelligence swept under the rug.
The State Security Service (SSS), self-styled as the Department of State Services (DSS), is the primary domestic intelligence agency of Nigeria and is primarily responsible for intelligence gathering within the country and for the protection of Nigerians and foreigners in Nigeria and work in collaboration with other domestic and international intelligence and security agencies including Interpol among others. Their Primary responsibility is also to detect plots and stop them before the attackers hit their targets, and not to wait until the attackers strike before looking for ways to curb the attacks or prevent future attacks. They also have extraordinary task of anticipating various damaging events and creating various counter measures to prevent such anticipated events from hitting the ground when terrorists and others are working on such anticipated events to carry out their attacks.
I understand very perfectly how intelligence operation works. There is no threat in Nigeria that DSS, DIA and other intelligence agencies cannot curb, prevent or bring to an end. The late Head of State of Nigeria, General Sani Abacha once said, “If any insurgency lasts more than 24 hours, the government has a hand in it”. I think he was not far from the truth. The fight to end Boko Haram herdsmen attacks and other terrorist attacks by these agencies has been compromised and neglected, and something is seriously wrong somewhere.
Pooling information is logistically difficult; given that the Nigerian intelligence community consists of different autonomous agencies which have further compounded the situation by other factors.
In January 2000 a group of al-Qaeda operatives met in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to plot the attack on the U.S.S Cole. Malaysian authorities caught the meeting on a surveillance videotape and turned it over to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). In the summer of 2001 the agency identified one of the attendees as Khalid Muhammad Abdallah al-Mihdhar, a Saudi who intelligence officials thought had entered the U.S. shortly after the meeting and left six months later. The CIA put his name on a watch list and handed it over to the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS)-but by then al-Midhar had slipped back into the U.S. Within the next few days, the CIA briefed the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on al-Midhar. FBI officials say they initiated a frantic manhunt for al-Midhar but never found him. On Sept.11, 2001, authorities believed, he flew American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon. Al-Midhar bought his Sept. 11 airline ticket under his own name, but American Airlines officials say no government authorities informed them he was on a terrorism watch list.
On October 19, 2019, the Punch with the title, "Why Jonathan prevented us from rescuing Chibok girls —Ex-UK Prime Minister" published "a former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan was “sleeping on the wheel” while terrorists were busy abducting schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State.
"Cameron further stated that Jonathan prevented British forces from engaging in rescue efforts as he seemed to see the entire incident as cheap politics."
According to CBC News, on April 14, 2016, International Crisis Group, a non-governmental organization that offers political and security analysis, believed the reaction to the Chibok kidnapping of former president Jonathan's administration "ranged from indifference and denial to later incompetence and deception."
The government was "crippled by corruption and mismanagement" that left it unable to "respond promptly or effectively to the incident," the group said.
The Premium Times of June 24, 2014 published, "Hold Nigerian government responsible for failure to rescue Chibok girls – U.S."
The Nigerian intelligence agencies have been criticized for failing to infiltrate Boko Haram, herdsmen and other terrorist organizations who all display acts of terror. Experts say Boko Haram, herdsmen and other terrorist organizations are working to find ways to inflict more irreparable damage on Nigerians and these agencies should use all their wherewithal to protect Nigerians.
That Al-Midhar could elude three Federal agencies, all of which knew his identity and the danger he posed shows what happens when intelligence agencies are compromised and intelligence swept under the rug. This is the same situation going on in Nigeria now among intelligence agencies. And many Nigerians have lost faith in our intelligence agencies in protecting them not as a result of their ineptitude but some compromise and negligence.
The leadership of Miyetti Allah Kauta Hore once issued a threat to attack Benue State (which these agencies were aware) and still successfully carried out such attacks. Even without issuing threats, the DSS, DIA among others have the capability to detect such plots. The leaders of this association and most of their members have shown terrorism tendencies. What stops the DSS, DIA among others to swing into action? This is where conspiracy, compromise and negligence play central roles.
Nigerian intelligence officials should be commended for the good work they have done so far and have been doing. But they still remain “blind” to this deficiency and should fix it because the proper focus of intelligence agencies should be “the pursuit of the secret” in defence of Nigerians. As long as Nigerian intelligence continues to peer in compromise and negligence, they may be unwilling to discover what Boko Haram, herdsmen, terrorist organizations and individuals are hatching right in our backyard.

Suswam At 60: You Are The First Politician That Gave Me Financial Support
Unknown 15.11.24 No comments Edit Post...I Wish You A Blissful Birthday And Many Years Ahead
Your Excellency, Sen. Dr. Gabriel Torwua Suswam,
I wish you a blissful birthday anniversary as you clock 60 years on planet earth. May God Almighty in His infinite grace and mercy, continue to guide and protect you in all your daily activities and grant you long life and prosperity.
My predilection for you began since you were a member of the House of Representatives for Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency in Benue State.
When you were elected in 1999 to represent your constituency in the National Assembly, you made commendable and memorable impact on your constituents. One of the things you did was the scholarship you gave to students of higher institutions from your constituency. Some of my friends significantly benefited from it.
In 2006 when you were given the ticket to contest for governor of Benue State, I supported, campaigned and voted for you in the 2007 gubernatorial election. That was when I began active political participation. In your first term in office, you made commendable impact on Benue State. You rehabilitated and reconstructed the roads and streets in Makurdi and other parts of Benue State.
In September 2008 when you awarded the contract for the installation of solar street lights to Solex, a reputable company in electrical installations for the provision of solar panels along Makurdi major roads and streets, I also participated in the installation of the solar street lights from September to November 2008 and made some money from it which helped me to put so many things in order.
In March 2011 when you went to Jos to obtain your PhD in Law from the prestigious University of Jos, I was one of those who covered the convocation ceremony as a practicing journalist from Department of Television Journalism, NTA Television College, Jos, Plateau State where I obtained my Diploma in Television Journalism.
You gave me Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000) including ten of my school mates in NTA Television College at the reception venue which took place at Gyado White House after Secretariat Junction in Jos. You became the first politician that I directly benefited from financially. The money, as a student helped me so much to fix some issues I had which enhanced the completion of my programme in 2012. You played a part to my success in journalism.
The Television Journalism Students' Association (TEJOSA) T-shirt of NTA Television College, Jos, Plateau State that I wore in the attached photograph was the exact T-shirt I wore when I covered your convocation in Jos 13 years ago.
When you became the governor of Benue State, you made commendable impact, although you had your shortcomings which affected you from living up to the general expectations of the good people of Benue State.
You touched my life directly and indirectly, that is why I have never cast aspersions on you or written any apocryphal story against you.
When you were at the National Assembly, you did so much for Zone A. I have a comprehensive list of all the projects and empowerment programmes you executed and I commend you for that.
I hold you in high esteem and will continue to do so irrespective of your political party or other affiliations.
Your birthday anniversary should rekindle your desire to continue to elevate the human race through the darkness to another mile!
Happy Birthday Anniversary!!

In A Love Relationship, There Are Some People That Are Irreplaceable Once You Lose Them
Unknown 13.5.24 No comments Edit PostSome people who are married today are passing through so much emotional, psychological and physical pains and regrets for some wrong decisions they made as a result of their selfishness, ego, peer group or family influence, advise from their spiritual fathers amongst others while they were in a love relationship.
Some people were in a relationship with someone they truly loved who were extremely exceptional in most or all aspects of life. They made some mistakes that led to the relationship not to move to the next level. They felt that even if such a person leaves, they will find their compatible replacement, only to realize after many days, weeks, months and years of search that they made an irreversible mistake that would shape their lives forever.
In the case of a woman who never found a compatible replacement and she is advancing in age, she might decide to just get married to anyone available even if the person is not a compatible replacement. Most ladies who are approaching 30 years or in their early or mid 30s are desperate to get married and it is at this point that most of them just get married for its sake not because the man they are married to is their ideal man. In this kind of situation, such a lady has a very high tendency to be unfaithful in such marriage, especially if she has an opportunity to reunite with the person she once truly loved but some factors made marriage not to take place.
In the case of a man who never found a compatible replacement for a very long time and is also advancing in age, he might decide to get married not for love or compatibility but to get children and look responsible. That is why most of them are unfaithful to such a woman. When a man is very mature age-wise and is still single, he might to considered as being irresponsible and might not be given certain tasks to perform or offered certain jobs. So most men at such levels get married for its sake as well.
If you are in a love relationship with someone who has most or all the qualities you need, please don't undermine such a person by allowing them to go. You will live with the scars of that mistake for the rest of your life. Where the breakup is not your fault, you should not blame yourself with self-guilt.
There are some people who are married but are not happy in the marriage. But they pretend in public as if they are happy but their homes are dens of emotional, psychological and physical torture. Some men have turned their homes to WWE arenas where the wives are beaten on daily basis.
Where we have the opportunity to make things work, we should do so, so that we will not live in a marriage full of regrets and memories of past cherished relationship coming to hurt us.

Unknown 5.5.24 No comments Edit Post---- Receives Award of Excellence
Renowned Benue-born UK-based scholar and humanitarian , Prof Kohol Shadrach Iornem has continued to speak on the unity, cultural heritage and common brotherhood of the Tiv people as a panacea towards safeguarding the welfare and protection of their land and people.
The African Society of Cambridge University in a letter of invitation sent to Professor Iornem, stated that they invited him as a Keynote Speaker on the conference theme in recognition of his scholarly contributions to academia and his selfless contributions in promoting and enhancing the socio-eonomic interest of the Tiv people both at home and globally.

Prof Kohol Iornem identified leadership failure , elitists conspiracy, cultural extinction, corruption and greed as the bane for growth and development of Tiv Nation. He called on the Tiv scholars, the elites, traditional and political leaders to work harmoniously in the overall interest of the people.

He stated that the situation where helpless Tiv farmers and their families are littered all over IDP Camps having fled their ancestral homes because of killer herdsmen, was antithetical to the Tiv culture and heritage. Iornem called on the Tiv people at home and in the diaspora to embrace the Ayatutu spirit of 'one for all, all for one, especially in the face of danger.
