Wantaregh Paul Unongo : My Fascinated Encounters

Wantaregh Paul Unongo : My Fascinated Encounters

By Akosu Emmanuel

When I heard of the late Wantaregh's death earlier in 2022, I could barely muster the courage to pay a tribute to this great son of Tiv nation  and Nigeria owing to some obvious distinctive  parameters . Firstly I belong to the much younger  generation, so I thought I  entirely lacked the basic latitude and depth  to make   any substantial and credible commentary  on this Iconic son of Tiv nation who is a detribalised Nigerian  and quintessential statesman. But impulsively my moral instinct began to gradually aggravate naturally, knowing  that I owe a bit more of a moral compass to dare some eulogy in honor of this remarkable figure.  Afterall I could , no matter how feeble, attempt some conscious visible instances of  rare encounters with this sage which I consider worth mentioning , especially now that he has gone the way of all mortals,  howbeit at an impressively great age with very impactful prints on the sands of time.

In the early and late 1990s, Wantaregh Paul Unongo was very much relevant in the politics and leadership direction  of this nation, and at this time I had started growing up into a knowledgeable adult and already a student  in the college . So I owe atleast the moral impetus to pay some  tribute to our very revered Wantaregh.

Paul Unongo's public personality became pronounced in 1983 as far as  my infant fascinations could  hold .  This was  when he squared it up against then incumbent governor Aper Aku for the Benue governorship . I was a little innocent boy in basic  school then, and in my innocence I  could listen  and  perfectly recite  the then political songs on his campaign vehicles  with lines like ' _antakeda anmbayev mba hen ato , bende tso u nenge Iorpuu Unongo awase u yo '_ composed by Faga Ajinge , a folksinger who was  famous for  Unongo's campaign songs.  These songs  daily blazed on the ahojas mounted on the  campaign vehicles of the NPP, the party which Unongo flew for the Benue governorship as its flagbearer.   Fondly too, I could also recite the famous ' _Aku baba wamooo, taver a taver Shima heregh , orapipi nguer gomna, orapipi una ya gomna yoo, saa jackie anyor Sha ihyura nuragh ...One Nation! ,_
which on the other hand  was Aku's famous  campaign song of the NPN.  I recollect when my father's eldest Sister in the Akosu family line , now Mrs Veronica Sohemba Chianson,  the first child of the Akosu's dynasty  would visit our family house  in Gboko  and I would literally become her  folksinger virtually mimicking these separate songs to her admiration. For her, I usually sang the Unongo's campaign  song that thrilled her the most, for she was an ardent supporter of the Paul Unongo's governorship in 1983 .  My audience especially my aunt  would consequently reward me with the  1 Naira currency note which I spent handsomely with my peers  buying biscuits, sweets etc.

Again it became compelling for me  to attempt a simple  memoir on the legendary Wantaregh because of other significant fascinating encounters with him . This time it was at the return of democracy in the aborted second republic of 1992/93 when he became a prominent  figure during the SDP/ NRC  era. This time ,  I lived and was mentored by my cousin , the late Basil Chianson,  a famous social crusader and politician  who was a strong protege of Wantaregh. I lived with him at his  home at 7th Avenue   Iyorkyaa Ako Street Makurdi which also became  a beehive of political interactions with a retinue of politicians as guests including Prof David Iornem, Iyorchia Ayu, and the legendary Wantaregh who I beheld  visiting on one  rare occasion . Sometimes , Basil Chianson would take me  in company to the Unongo's residence located  at School Lane in Makurdi where I would behold the elegance of this great son of Tiv land , even though I was a bit naive to relate with the sage at the time , his simplicity and communication prowess with his several supporters and admirers inspired me quite good and  as a young man of my age it  made me grow some confidence which I was eager to indulge in for the rest of my life  . Basil  my cousin was a regular face at the Wantaregh's Makurdi even when the leader was not around. He  usually took over the management of affairs at Wantaregh's Makurdi home including some occasional incidences of  security threats on the family residence . For Wantaregh Unongo was in the opposition APP at the  time  George Akume  was governor under the ruling  PDP in the state . Basil was literally a son and confidant of Unongo . I began to see more of Wantaregh's replica  in my cousin who was bold , courageous, wit and.intellectually  agile in his social conducts and relationship with people . The philosophy that I could vouch for that  kept both going was because , the people mattered in their agenda , both the  high and mighty, destitute and rich, maimed and strong,  all mattered in the scheme of their social dealings and interactions. They saw the people as supreme and would sacrifice all for them as they sought for the people's mandate pre 2003.

In 1993 during the IBB's SDP and NRC era. I could feel the pulse of politics filled all over with MKO Abiola as the Presidential  flagbearer and Revd Moses Adasu as the newly  elected governor towards the phase leading to the civil rule which was unfortunately aborted by the IBB military  regime .

I began to learn alot reading and writing of what made the pieces of the machinery and party propagation of the SDP,  and in the latter times the  APP which Basil Chianson did alot good work on . There were politicians like Samuel Ortom,  Hyacinth Nyakuma, Bem Dzoho, Hon Terfa  Atii, Hon Azer Ukende,  Hon Simon Kwaghbula, Pastor Atim Daa, Shima Ayati , Charles Torbunde, etc, who usually came around.

By 2007, Unongo returned back to the PDP and we were at the ACC playground for the grand ceremony where he addressed the mammoth crowd of admirers on his signature apparelled overall  glistening white robe . I would thereafter confirm his traditional role as symbol of Tiv leadership at his Unongo Kwaghgise village when he took on the full regalia in the _nyamtsam_ symbolizing its great potentials and interaction with the ancestral world and the living . This time it was when he would lead the ritual towards the installation of Gabriel Suswam as governor of Benue State in 2007. Indeed Suswam won the elections.

I am privileged to be Tiv and that Wantaregh really represented the symbol and pride  of Tiv nation anywhere in the world makes me proud anytime . This too is much to inform a tribute on this sage . Learning some impactful lessons from his life and times is so indelible .

Having Feelings For Your Ex-Lover In Marriage: Women In Perspective

Having Feelings For Your Ex-Lover In Marriage: Women In Perspective

By Terfa Naswem

When a woman has dated many men and had memorable moments with them, such memories can have devastating effects on her marriage if she lacks absolute self-discipline or the fear of God Almighty.

Some women got married not because they really love the men they got married to. Since the person they genuinely love wasn't ready and wasn't serious, they decided to marry the available person because time was no longer on their side. Some got married to certain men because of their wealth but do not have any iota of love for them. After the marriage took place, their hearts are still with the people they genuinely love.

Many women are guilty of this. They are married, but they still have enormous feelings for one or more of the men they once dated. They are finding it extremely difficult to resolve their feelings for them which is affecting their marriage.

The truth is that feelings of love are not easily resolved, especially when there was no conflict before the breakup. When such breakup is done amicably, the feelings might take a very long time to be resolved.

How do you expect a woman to easily forget about a man she dated for 5 years or more after she got married to a man she just dated for 3 months or a year? For many women, it takes time for such feelings to fade away. But this to a very large extent depends on how the husband treats her.

Some women reignite memories of the good moments they had with their ex-lover (s) when they are maltreated my their husbands: they begin to miss the adorable and affectionate treatments they received from their ex-lover (s) and the good moments they had.

This is one of the reasons why some married women cheat on their husbands. They don't cheat on their husbands with new people but with those they once dated and had deep rooted intimacy. And as it continues, in most cases, destroys the marriage.

When a woman marries a man who is not giving her the happiness and sexual satisfaction she used to get from those she once dated, the memories of such sexual pleasures she had which her husband doesn't give her will resound in her head; the romantic moments they had which her husband doesn't do will resound in her head; the way the people she once dated made her laugh which her husband doesn't do brings the memories back and so on.

These feelings are the things most women are facing in their marriages. The reason why despite all these, many women have refused to cheat on their husbands is because of their high level of self-discipline or the fear of God Almighty.

For many women, once they are married, everything they had with those they dated before becomes history irrespective of how they are treated by their husbands. For others, the affairs continue even after marriage whether their husbands treat them right or not.

A woman must not necessarily have the fear of God to be faithful to her husband. There are many women who are not believers or religious, but they have never cheated on their husbands as a matter of principle to them irrespective of any factor. This is where high level of self-discipline comes in.

If you are married to a self-discipline or God fearing woman, please respect and adore her with all your heart because marriage is another battlefield and she is fighting so many silent battles to remain faithful to you.

Why Some Ladies Find It Difficult To Fall In Love

Why Some Ladies Find It Difficult To Fall In Love

By Terfa Naswem

When a lady truly loves a man, she does not care to have problems with her parents if they refuse to accept the person. Ladies are very emotional when it comes to love, when they fall in love, they behave like children; they will be ready to do whatever their man wants even when it is against their wish.

When a lady truly loves a man, she will send away other men and stick to one man. But many men fail to appreciate this huge sacrifice and in the end turn out to break their heart when they have done nothing wrong to them.

Once a woman's heart is broken by someone she truly loves, she will find it very difficult to fall in love again. Even if she will, it will take her a long time.

Most ladies don't easily fall in love. A lot of factors such as quality time spent together, consistent enormous care, how her man treats others, her man's philosophy towards life and other things must play central roles for her to fall in love.

Since some ladies' hearts have been broken by those they truly love when they did nothing wrong to them, they find it very difficult to trust any man again. They feel they will still be left in the rain and in darkness if they fall in love again. At times even when they find a man they love, they may not want to be absolutely committed to the man because of fear of having another broken heart.

Men shouldn't be too quick to criticize some ladies for certain things they do. If they know what such ladies have gone through in the hands of terrible men, they will feel sorry for them. Although no reason should justify any wrongdoing by any lady, we should not be too quick to criticize people without understanding their plights.

I will always continue to appreciate my late mother Mrs. Grace Nguvan Naswem for her significant impact on my life. If not for her, I would have been a monster today.

When I was a kid, my late mother ensured that I walked on the path of righteousness. She had to register me in the Children Evangelism Ministry (CEM) of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Obudu, Parish, Cross River State when I was 8 years old.

While I was growing up, I had the tendency of being very destructive. My late mummy had to step in to make me a better person when I grow up. It was because of that, she had to monitor me closely and ensured I joined a Christian ministry so that I can receive the Biblical training that will complement the one she was giving me.

I loved my late mother very much so I tried to do the things that would make her happy. I made a lot of sacrifices of my desires to please her.

When I joined Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS) at NKST Sec. Sch. Adikpo and became the Bible Study Secretary, Evangelical Secretary and President, I did so not because I loved God. I did so for the sake of my mother. I wanted her to be happy. It was in doing so to please my mother that I later developed the genuine love for Christ Jesus.

My mom told me how she hated womanisers, smokers, and alcohol including other acts against her wish and the Bible. Because of her, I refused to smoke, drink alcohol and womanise. Deep inside me, I really wanted to do them, but for the love I had for my mother, I controlled myself.

I am a better person today because of my late mother. Even though I am not completely the kind of person she would have wanted me to be, my love for her prevented me from being a monster today and will forever remain grateful to her even in death.

Amidst worried over the new trend of stealing ladies panties, a 19 years old pant thief, Chinonye Okorie arrested in Onisha, Anmabra state has confessed that women used pants are used for money rituals.

Okorie, according to Vanguard News was arrested on the On January 11, 2019, at about 6:48am by the policemen attached to Central Police Station (CPS), Onitsha, Anambra State. He who allegedly stole the pants that had been washed and spread on a line at No. 21 Umuna Street Odoakpu, Onitsha, said he intended to sell them for N80, 000.

One of such pant thieves was caught in a female hostel at Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese-Ijebu on Monday. The suspect, as gathered, disguised as a woman selling ice cream to gain access into the hostel.

But as he was leaving, some students, out of curiosity, demanded to know what was in the bulky bag he was carrying only to discover that it was filled with pants.

Also on January 9, 2019, a middle-aged man, simply identified as Ifeanyi, was almost lynched after he was caught stealing ladies’ pants at a students’ hostel located at Mgbakwu in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

In the last couple of months, stealing of panties for ritual purposes has gradually replaced killing of humans and harvesting of human parts which used to be the norm.

Investigations reveal that the discharge from a lady’s private part on any stolen pant is believed to be vital for money ritual.

Consequently, from Imo to Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Anambra, among other states in the country, stealing of pants has been on the increase. Pant thieves caught by residents, were, in many instances, lynched before the arrival of security agents.

Meanwhile, some of the perpetrators were said to have devised means such as disguising as women to steal pants spread on lines to dry. Female hostels and dormitories are worst hit, as several students have had their pants stolen.

REVEALED: Shocking Reason Why Delta Ladies No Longer Wear Pants, How Used Ladies' Pant Now Cost N350k Per One

REVEALED: Shocking Reason Why Delta Ladies No Longer Wear Pants, How Used Ladies' Pant Now Cost N350k Per One

Pantless Ladies
For some time, there have been reports that some ritualists, also known as ‘Yahoo boys’, have been stealing female underwear, sometimes at gunpoint, particularly around campuses of tertiary institutions in Delta State. Although the veracity of the claims that such stolen undies are used for ritual purposes has not been established, such reports have instilled fear into the hearts of ladies living in such areas, resulting in fear and panic.

And in the ensuing panic, our correspondent observed that many ladies in the affected areas in Delta have been devising ways to safeguard themselves against danger.

It was learnt that the underwear of girls and women, particularly of ages between 14 and 35, are allegedly considered as ‘hot cakes’ for use by the ritualists.

Used pants, according to some students at Asaba campus of the Delta State University, sells for as much as N350,000, with some adding that the price can be higher if it is confirmed to have body fluids.

At the campus, it was learnt that one of the measures being used by female students to protect themselves is to go out without wearing pants.

For instance, a student of the school, who lives outside the school campus and who only identified herself as Esther, said three of her friends had started employing the strategy of going out without wearing pants.

“We hear that the pants those ritualists or ‘Yahoo boys’ steal are being used for money ritual. After they finish performing some rituals on the pants, the owners will start bleeding or vomiting blood. Since the news got to us, three of my friends have stopped wearing pants. I have stopped going out at night, even for something as important as going to the campus to study at night. Although, I heard that these evil people also operate during the day, I believe it is more dangerous at night.

“We heard that last week, on Anwai Road, at around 8pm, two men forcibly collected a young lady’s pants. As I speak to you, we have not seen the lady since then to know the effect it will have on her. Though, unlike my friends who have stopped wearing pants, I still do, but we have been advised to stop hanging our pants on washing lines outside.

A 22-year-old female student of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, who simply identified herself as Sandra, described the alleged theft of female underpants as evil brought for Asaba by ‘Yahoo boys’.

Confirming that some ladies no longer wear pants in some parts of the state, especially in Abraka, Asaba, fear of having them stolen by ritualists, Sandra said she was told that some pants could be sold for as much as N500,000 each.

Sandra, who said she had stopped wearing pants outside, said, “I am telling you the truth; in Delta State now, especially Asaba, there is fear because the way these ‘Yahoo boys’ or ‘Yahoo Plus boys’ are looking for female pants is crazy. Some even collect ladies’ pants at gunpoint.

“I have stopped wearing pants whenever I am going out, and that goes for some of my friends too to prevent ourselves from being victims of these evil people. When they collect someone’s pants, it is the end for that person. It happened to one lady in Umuagwu quarters of Asaba. Her family has taken her to church for healing because she has been behaving abnormally. I have also stopped going out with people I don’t know their background, especially those with flashy cars.”

Another student, who insisted that the problem was really serious but spoke on condition of anonymity, said, she knew a lady who fell ill after losing her pants.

“I know one Jenifer who fell into the hands of these evil boys in Asaba. On Friday, December 14, 2018, she fell very ill. The management of a hotel in Umugwu, where she had gone to meet someone, quickly reported the case to the police and they were advised to take her to a traditional healing home.

“When contacted on the telephone, the man identified as the culprit, said the lady was still alive, but since then, his line had not been reachable,” she said.

Our correspondent met a female hairdresser, who claimed that the victim was her customer and that she had visited her at the place where she was being treated. She said the lady was looking very ill and that it didn’t look like she would survive. But as she was talking to Saturday PUNCH, another lady joined the conversation, saying the lady in question had died.

Saturday PUNCH also learnt that in Abraka, Ughelli, Ozoro and Warri, some ladies have resulted to sprinkling their pants with oil that had allegedly been blessed by preachers.

According to Efe, a young lady in her late 20s, she no longer hangs her underwear on the washing line outside her flat or leaves the diapers used by her baby lying around.

“Some women sprinkle their pants with ‘anointed oil’. Some of us have stopped hanging our pants on washing lines outside. If you come to my compound, you won’t see any underwear hanging outside like it used to be and it is because we are afraid of ritualists.

“Since we heard the news, we have been hanging our pants in our bathrooms; whether they get dry or not is not a big issue. We sometimes iron our underwear to get them dry. We are also mindful of what our visitors could do so we take precautions. We understand that these ‘boys’ have agents who sneak into houses to steal pants and brassieres.

“Although, I haven’t seen anyone who is a victim of this problem, I have heard about some cases. Even my female neighbours told me that they had stopped wearing pants since there were reports about some guys stealing underwear at gunpoint. It’s better not to wear pants than to die prematurely,” she said.

When asked if not wearing pants could increase the incidence of rape, Efe said “yes,” adding that “we don’t have any other option and even men will not know that a lady is not wearing pants except they are told or they are really close to the woman.”

In Ogwushi-Uku Polytechnic in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state, it was learnt that female students had adopted a strategy of going to their boyfriends’ places without their undies.

This was disclosed by a student in National Diploma Two, who identified herself as Cynthia.

“Most ladies have stopped leaving their pants in their boyfriend’s house or wearing pants there. In my own case, I trust my man and believe he will not do anything to hurt me. He is from a good background and not a greedy person who would want to make quick money through rituals.  But I know that many ladies on this campus now visit their boyfriends without putting on underwear. For instance, my friend, Chida, has stopped wearing pants,” Cynthia said.

When asked if some were avoiding having boyfriends as a move to be more cautious, Cynthia said, “We are just trying our luck to see if the friendship we develop now will lead to marriage. Before now, whenever you visited your boyfriend and had to sleep over, you would take some spare underwear along, but that no longer happens.

“Also, we avoid lonely routes, during the day and at night because of the sad reports that get to us. We heard that some people now go about in flashy cars, looking for ladies on lonely roads whom they would point their gun at and ask them to bring their pants or be shot dead.

“Many ladies have stopped going out after 6:30 pm; we would rather stay in our hostels.”

Our correspondent also ran into five young ladies discussing how ritualists had also allegedly reviewed their strategy by forcing ladies to wear new pants and then taking them back.

“We don’t know what to do again; most of us have stopped wearing pants but these ‘Yahoo tboys’ have also adopted another method. They go about with new pants and when they meet ladies that do not have pants on, they will give them pants to wear and collect them back, at gunpoint. Women should also look for what they will use men’s boxers to do. May God protect women in these evil days,” one of the ladies said.

Meanwhile, a man was reportedly apprehended recently while allegedly attempting to steal some female underwear. The suspect was reportedly caught by local vigilantes in Agbarha-Ughelli area of the state after he allegedly stole a bra and was looking for pants to steal.

When he was quizzed by security operatives, the suspect allegedly confessed that a man whom he had asked to show him how to make money told him to go and get female pants and bras before he would assist him.

He allegedly said he was to meet with the unknown man at a popular hotel in Ughelli area after getting the underwear.

Also, on Sunday, December 2, 2018, five ladies were said to have encountered some ritualists at Oha Junction, close to Osubi along Abraka Road, who ordered them at gunpoint to bring their pants.

Saturday PUNCH also learnt that some churches had started advocacy to advise their female members to be mindful of where they keep their pants.

A female Sunday school teacher, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “We have seen it as our responsibility to teach our ladies, especially teenagers, ways to avoid being victims of this ugly practice that we experience in Delta State.

“As a teacher in my church, I have told female members of my church to be suspicious of their friends and even brothers. They should not leave their pants lying around anywhere. If possible, they should hide them in their bags and they should not collect pants as gifts from friends. We used to hear ‘your money or your life’ but today, it has become a case of ‘your pants or your life.”

She further advised young ladies to be wary of hanging their pants on washing lines outside and to be smart enough to resist being deceived by men in flashy cars, saying “all that glitters is not gold.”

Meanwhile, Mr Charles Aniagwu, the Chief Press Secretary to Okowa, said the governor had ordered a crackdown on all ‘Yahoo boys’, ritualists and all those involved in the unexplainable and sudden wealth acquired by some people in the state.

He expressed concern over the increasing and disturbing activities of suspected ritual killers and criminally minded individuals, whom he said were becoming more conspicuous because of their flamboyant lifestyles.

“The governor has ordered the police commissioner to go after these ‘Yahoo boys’ that are causing fear, unrest and panic in the state,” he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Delta  State Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the development, said the case of a young woman – Ezino – who had a ‘strange’ ailment had brought the attention of the police command to the activities of ritualists in the state.

He said that the young woman reported to the Police A Division station and complained that maggots were coming out of her body after and that she was referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, to ascertain the cause.

“From the FMC, the lady was taken to a traditional healing home by her family, but we have not heard from her since then,” he said.

On whether the suspect was arrested, Aniamaka said, “What offence shall we arrest him for? The boyfriend said he only slept with her and that he did not rape her. For maggots to be coming out of her private parts is not known to the law.”

Aniamaka said no arrest connected to the alleged stealing of female underwear had been made so far, but he urged members of the public to always give timely information to the police to help prevent.

He urged ladies to be security conscious at all times, assuring that the command was ready to decisively deal with crime in the state.

Mrs Benedicta Osakunih-Izuegbu, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Girl Child Development, had said that the current wave of criminalities, frauds and ritual-related crimes, should be fought through advocacy.

“We have to fight this crime in three ways; one is through advocacy to enable the perpetrators, particularly the youth to change their mindset. Again, parents and guardians must ask questions and query all wealth got illegally by their children and wards. The traditional institution and government should also come up with policies and programmes to tackle the crime.” she had said.

The fear of ritualists is currently rife in the state with some women appealing to government at all levels to rise to the challenge and punish anyone found to be involved in crime.

Why I Must Test My Man's Sexual Strength Before Marriage - Queeneth Agbor

Why I Must Test My Man's Sexual Strength Before Marriage - Queeneth Agbor

Queeneth Agbor

A Nollywood actress, Queeneth Agbor has said she is not against sex before marriage, an act many frowns at, especially some religion.

The actress aired her opinion in a recent interview held with Punch Newspaper Scoop.

Her words on Sex before marriage, love life, and others

On the importance of sex in a relationship, Agbor said, “To some people, sex is associated with stability because it increases the bond and maintains a level of stability. As for me, I believe that sex is overrated in a relationship though I stand for sex before marriage with a good reason. I need to test my ‘goods’ so I don’t end up with something inadequate. Cheating is a no-no for me. However, in a relationship, getting to know your partner doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with sex. I prefer to bond mentally and intellectually. I know my lover for who he truly is. Sex gone bad can actually end a relationship before you even get to know the real person.”

Speaking on the biggest gift she has ever received from a lover, Queeneth said, “My boyfriend asked me to come outside my house to carry some things he bought for me, only for me to see a car.”

Agbor also said contrary to what some people might think about her, she is actually very spiritual. “One with God is in the majority; for without Him, I am nothing. As long as I breathe, I will continue to serve God. I am an ambassador of Christ with dignity, mentality that differentiates me from others,” the actress added.

End Time: Popular Leki Pastor In Own Leaked Video Scandal Doing It Hard With Secret Lover ...Watch Video Here

Apostle Chris OmatsolaThe Presiding Pastor of Zionwealth of Life Assembly in the Lekki area of Lagos State, Apostle Chris Omatsola, and his former lover, Tamaratokoni Okpe, have clashed over a sex video that was leaked on the Internet.

While Okpe, who hails from Delta State, accused Omatsola of releasing the video to force her into marriage with him, the cleric told PUNCH Metro that the video was leaked to blackmail him.

Our correspondent gathered that the two estranged lovers dated for about seven months in 2018, during which they had sexual intercourse, which was filmed.

However, shortly after things fell apart between them, the lurid video emerged on the Internet.

Okpe, in her account of the incident, said the pastor had threatened to leak the video after she quit the relationship.

She said, “I met Apostle Chris Kevwe Omatsola, the founder and pastor of Zionwealth of Life Assembly (Zola) in Lekki, Lagos, and we started dating in February 2018. It quickly escalated to a sexual relationship and when we had sex the first time, he told me that we should make it right by getting married. We continued our romance and one of the things we did together was recording videos and taking pictures of our intimacy.

“I informed my mum about a guy coming for my hand in marriage and she said she was going to pray about it. Everything was rosy until he became violent and constantly beat me up till I bled. He came begging after each episode and I forgave him.”

She said by July, she had become indifferent about the relationship.

Okpe alleged that the cleric’s temperament and constant assault of her also discouraged her.

“In August, I called off the relationship and I was surprised that he accepted it in good faith initially, given his penchant for violence.

“Sometime in August, he asked that we meet to talk on platonic grounds. During the meeting, he became hostile when he realised that I was no longer interested in him. He also refused to drop me off at home. He beat me up, seized my phone, forced me to unlock it and retrieved contacts from it just to track who I was seeing.

“That was the final straw for me; so I never saw him again till September when he showed up at my place, crying and begging. I refused to fall for his tricks and there was no further communication from both sides till sometime early October when he apologised again.

“On October 13, he contacted me with an anonymous number via WhatsApp with pictures, videos and threat messages, saying if I did not come back to him, he was going to release everything,” she added.

She noted that she was surprised when at 7pm  that day, people called her attention to the nude video and pictures circulating on the Internet.

The Computer Science graduate said the case was reported to the police and Omatsola was arrested the following day.

“He said now that my pictures and videos were out there, no man would want to look my way again; that it was best we got married.

“After the arrest, in the presence of his dad, he confessed to releasing the pictures and video. He apologised to me, my family, his family and the public. This was recorded on October 19, 2018, and I am in possession of the video. He even accepted to pay damages,” she said.

Okpe, who noted that she regretted the relationship, said she had faced ridicule from friends and family members.

“I was wrong to have been involved in premarital sex with a pastor. I was wrong to have allowed him persuade me to record our intimate moments. I have been fielding questions from my colleagues. I hope that this will pass soon,” she added.

When our correspondent contacted the cleric, he said his former lover was out to fleece him, adding that he could not have posted the sex video since he had his reputation to protect.

He added that a second video of him confessing to posting the sex video was done under duress.

He said, “I never did anything of that nature and she does not have anything to prove it (assault). How do you, a popular pastor with a church in Lekki Phase One, leak your own sex video with your face on it? How does that work?

“That video (confessional video) was done under duress because I was picked up by the same lady and she demanded N200m (from me) for leaking the video, which I did not leak. She has it on her phone and I have it on my phone. So, she picked me up. My dad and the lawyer agreed that I should do a (confessional) video and it was under duress.

“The police were there, the Investigating Police Officer was there; I am supposed to pay that girl N1m before the end of this month.

“This (sex) video came from an unknown telephone number. I started getting calls on Sunday morning while I was in church and somebody said my sex video was all over the Internet. I called the blog that posted it to take it down.

“The next day, the police came to arrest me for it. I went to the station and I was detained; my lawyer came to take my bail. I was taken to the police headquarters where I was told that part of the conditions for bail was for me to make that (confessional) video. I needed to do it to come out to defend myself. You can’t defend yourself in a cell.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said investigation was ongoing.

He noted that the police were not aware of the financial settlement claimed by Omatsola.

He said, “A case was reported against the pastor who posted a sex video of himself and his girlfriend online. Investigation commenced at the Ajah Police Station and the pastor made confessional statement that he posted the video. He said he was madly in love and that was why he misbehaved.

“However, because we see it is a case debasing womanhood and betrayal of trust, it was moved to the Gender Section for thorough investigation.

“At the end of the day, the man was granted administrative bail, while investigation continued.

“Take anything coming from that man with a pinch of salt because we have established that he is a liar and an imposter. We have established that he has committed a heinous crime against a woman that once loved him. If he could commit the offence against the woman, lying against the police is a piece of cake for him. The confessional video he claimed that he was forced to make was done in the comfort of his car.”

This was why kabiyesi asked her out and promised her marriage without further ado. City People’s investigation reveals that it took Oloori and Kabiyesi 3-and-half month to pick a date for the marriage and preparations kicked off immediately.

The first thing Oonirisa did was to keep the date away from many as preparations went on among top family members. All the engagement stuffs were also sourced by Kabiyesi’s siblings who were also warned not to discuss it with outsiders.

As early as noon on that Thursday all was set for the royal journey to the residence of the Oluyemi in Akure. Of course, Kabiyesi didn’t go with them as tradition doesn’t permit him. He has to be at home awaiting his bride. He can also not prostrate for anyone and tradition demands he prostrates for his in-laws.

Who were those on the Royal Journey to Akure you may ask? They include Kabiyesi’s father, Prince Aderopo Ogunwusi and his wife, Mrs Margret Ogunwusi, Sooko Ekun, Prince Bimbo, who is Kabiyesi’s elder brother.

His elder brother, Prince Tunji Ogunwusi, and his wife Ibilola Ogunwusi, who flew in from London. Also on the entourage were: Prince Jide Fadairo and his wife, Princess Folasade Ogunwusi, Princess Adesola, Princess Folusho and her husband Kolawole, and Princess Adebimpe and her husband, Prince Mobolaji Jimoh.

The Princesses were all clad in luxury white lace matched with Royal blue headgear. Their traditional Iyun beads were from Tjcollections, while the Ogunwusi Princes and their brothers-in-law spotted white flowing Agbada.

Also in attendance was Obalufe, the Emeses, Osoro, and Ooni of Ife inner caucus Chiefs who all together were 40 in number. All drove to Akure in style in 15 vehicles, which were mainly Benz series. They were led by escort as their hosts welcomed them at 5.31pm.

Princess Adebimpe Ogunwusi Jimoh, who is the immediate younger sister of Oonirisa, introduced the Ogunwusi’s family to the Oluwaseyis, while the bride’s family also introduced their family members.

The angelic bride walking tall like a Queen that she is came in looking regal in an embellished fully-stoned aso-oke with a light make-up from Akure make-up Pro. Oluyemi Oluposi of dashingbride makeover while her royal Iyun hung beautifully on her neck as she welcomed her new family.

Because the new Queen doesn’t wear earrings, Kabiyesi also sourced for best collection of wristwatches for her. The big yam tubers were 89 pieces, Palm oil, rice, atare, honey, and others items were also put on display as Yoruba culture and tradition dictates

The Oluwaseyis didn’t keep them waiting for long as Prophetess Naomi was handed over to Oonirisa’s elder brother, the Sooko Ekun of Ile-Ife, Prince Bimbo Ogunwusi, who then handed her over to the Ogunwusi sisters.

Few minutes past 10pm, the Ooni entourage drove into Ile-Ife, where Oloori Ogunwusi was received at the entrance by Oonirisa’s Chiefs. Prayers were led by one of the Oonirisa’s Chiefs called ‘Loowa’ (Next to kabiyesi among Chiefs) while Obalufe also prayed for the new bride before she was presented to Ekerin Iyalode, who is a top member of Oonirisa Ruling house “Geesi ruling house. That was after a white Ram was killed, while the Oloori did the needful according to tradition of Ife. The Ekerin Iyalode poured water on her legss as the calabash was broken. Then the breaking of kolanut followed.

She was later ushered into the palace where Oonirisa had already “Gunwa” on his throne. Kabiyesi, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi received her with open arms and prayed for her. He exchanged wedding bands with her and told her to sit at the right side.

The emeses who are the closest chiefs to Kabiyesi then welcomed her officially with all the Oloori of the source praises, while she was then told to move to the left side of Kabiyesi, which makes her the new Oonirisa Oloori.

Why I Was Happy When I Heard The News of My Death - Sat Guru Mahraji

Sat Guru Mahraji
The self-acclaimed living perfect master, Sat Guru Mahraji, has said he was excited when he heard the rumour of his death, stressing that  he will live more that 500 years on Earth.

Some social media users had, on Friday, posted ‘report’ of Maharaji’s death but checks revealed that the report was false. Some of the online users later deleted the report while a few apologised for the post.

Speaking on a radio programme monitored in Ibadan on Saturday, Maharaji said only those who disobeyed the creator died, adding that his death rumour pointed to the fact that the world wanted to know more about him.

He said, “I am at the Maharaji village in Ibadan, the highest spiritual centre of the universe. I am alive and well. I am a perfect master. I got excited when I heard the news because physically, I am beyond death.

“I am not involved in what human beings are doing. When I heard about the rumour of my death, I said waoh!, the one who created man determines what happens to him. The world wants to know more about me; that is why people said I was dead.

“People have been calling me. I am a happy man. I am a traditionalist and king of culture. It is your behaviour and attitude that determine your death and success in life. If you are a good man, death does not exist. Anyone who dies must have done something wrong.

“People die out of ignorance and disobedience. When a human being wakes up in the morning, he should be grateful to his creator.”

The spokesperson for Maharaji, Ojo Peter, also said in a statement that the rumour of his principal’s death was a mischievous attempt concocted by disgruntled elements in the society, adding that the spiritualist was in perfect condition.

The statement read, “The rumour of the death of Maharaji was concocted by some people who have found it difficult to silence him from telling the truth about happenings in Nigeria and the world at large. The news of the death of Maharaji is not only false but one that was mischievously concocted by some disgruntled elements.

“They want to use the false news to cause disaffection among numerous members of the One Love Family in Nigeria and the world at large but Maharaj Ji has already exposed them for who they are. Such news will never stop Maharaj Ji from saying the truth he is known for.”

OAU Sex-for-mark Scandal: At last, Assaulted Female Student, Monica Osagie Open Up ...Here Is her Shocking Revelations

MONICA OSAGIE OAU Sex Scandal
MONICA OSAGIE, the student who made an audio recording of a lecturer of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, demanding five sessions of sex in order to increase her marks, appeared Tuesday before the investigative committee set up by the university.

Osagie, a postgraduate student in the Business Administration Faculty, had released a recorded conversation that went viral, in which the lecturer identified as Prof. Richard Akindele had demanded sex in exchange for marks.

The committee, which held its session at the pro-chancellor’s lodge on the campus, allowed only Osagie and her lawyers into the venue.
Journalists, students and some members of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) who came to witness the sitting were not allowed into the venue by security personnel of the institution.
The vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, confirmed to journalists that Osagie was appearing before the committee.

Ogunbodede, who spoke as though he was not aware that newsmen were already outside the venue of the sitting, said that he could not disclose the venue of the sitting.
“The lady is appearing before the committee. Members of the committee told me that the lady came and she is appearing before them but I cannot disclose the venue to you,” the vice-chancellor said.
But before the panel commenced sitting, there was a protest when the panel attempted to deny the lawyers of the student access to its proceedings.

Miss Osagie’s lawyers included a representative of the NHRC.
However, her lawyers led by the Executive Director of Women Advocates, Research and Documentation Centre, Abuja, Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, protested that they must be allowed to watch the proceedings of the panel.
After several hours of engagement, two of the lawyers were permitted to enter with Miss Osagie, but journalists were not allowed in.

Mrs. Nkechi Obiagbaoso, a Legal Officer for Women Advocate Research and Documentation Centre, Abuja, said she and two other lawyers were present to represent Osagie, reported the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Obiagbaoso said two of the lawyers were allowed into the venue while she was asked to stay outside.
According to her, the previous venue used for the investigation was changed earlier Tuesday because of the interest in the case.

The vice-chancellor last Friday confirmed the suspension of Akindele.
Ogunbodede, in a statement, said he had received and considered the interim report of the committee set up to investigate the allegation of sexual harassment revealed in the audio recording.

He also said the female voice in the audio had been identified as that of Miss Osagie, a postgraduate student in the Masters of Business Administration Regular Programme.
The vice-chancellor said that though the investigative committee invited both Akindele and Osagie, only the lecturer had appeared before the committee.

“The university is making efforts to ensure that Miss Osagie appears before the investigative committee so that it can hear her side of the case and promptly submit its final report,” he had said.
After appearing before the panel, Miss Osagie informed reporters that she told the panel that Akindele failed her because she refused to succumb to her sexual advances.

She said she did not score 33 per cent as the lecturer had claimed, but was failed because she refused his sexual advances.

Also briefing the press, one of her lawyers, Mrs. Akiyode-Afolabi, who was with the student when she appeared before the panel, said her client informed the investigative panel that she recorded the conversation between her and the professor as evidence.

She said Miss Osagie also informed the panel that she reported the sexual harassment by Akindele to some lecturers in the university, but no action was taken by them.

Mrs. Akiyode-Afolabi said some lawyers who represented the lecturers to whom Miss Osagie claimed she had reported the case, also appeared before the panel.

She said Miss Osagie also told the panel that she did not score 33 per cent as alleged but was failed so that she could succumb to the sexual demands of Akindele.

Mrs. Akiyode-Afolabi expressed optimism that the outcome of the investigative panel would serve as a lesson to other predatory lecturers.
She urged the panel to ensure that justice prevails so as to maintain the integrity of the institution.
