ONDO Election: Reasons Why President Buhari Desperately Determined APC MUST Win At All Cost

ThisDay Newspaper - The outcome of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State is a major test run for President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid in 2019, presidency sources have said.

According to THISDAY checks, the Buhari camp of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is determined to win Ondo State, first to make a statement in terms of who is in charge of the party, and two, to set the path for the 2019 general election.

Sources in the presidency hinted that with the decision to edge out certain players in the APC over the Ondo governorship poll, and the decimation of the most formidable opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the race, the camp of the president is out to test its popularity as well as capacity for political strategy in the lead up to the 2019 elections.

A source hinted that though the president is very keen on a second term in office, he is taking it slowly because of the state of the country, but would not mind taking his chances if the atmosphere is right.

It is for this reason the presidency is said to have gone out on a limb over the Ondo governorship poll slated to hold this weekend. The source noted that if, with all that has been at play in the Ondo theatrics APC wins, then Buhari would throw his hat into the ring come 2019.

However, if the outcome of the election does not go as planned, it may not necessarily mean that the president would automatically abandon his re-election bid, but he might only take a more cautious approach to his second term bid for the presidency, especially if the mood of the public remains the same.

Although the source did not address the allegation of interference by the presidency in all that has gone on in the state, especially within the PDP, it is generally believed that the presidency actually had a hand in the crisis in the main opposition party, particularly the bid to stop the candidate of Governor Olusegun Mimiko, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).

Another source told THISDAY that the general consensus is that if the outgoing governor is able to get Jegede on the ballot, then the dream of the president to realise a Rotimi Akeredolu governorship might be in jeopardy, hence the alleged attempt to frustrate Jegede’s candidacy through the courts.

It is against this backdrop that the president’s foot soldiers are said to have resolved to not only frustrate the emergence of Jegede, but ensure that Akeredolu emerges the next governor of Ondo State.

Another reason the Ondo saga is believed to have become really messy is the alleged decision by a former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, to extract his own pound of flesh from Mimiko, who was believed to have worked against him in 2014 when he sought re-election but was defeated by Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Sources informed THISDAY that Fayemi is taking the Ondo election personally because of Mimiko, and is the very reason the Minister of Solid Minerals Development has not hidden his desire to oust the PDP and Mimiko’s candidate at all cost.

He was even said to have been responsible for some of the problems the Alliance for Democracy (AD) candidate, Olusola Oke, had at the time he (Oke) defected to the AD.

All he wants, sources said, is to clear the road for Akeredolu and would stop at nothing including decimating whoever stands in APC’s way.

Another presidency source also volunteered that the angst of the National Leader of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the party’s primary in the state, which threw up Akeredolu was self-inflicted.

He said Tinubu had no reason to hold a grudge against the party or Buhari over the primary because the National Chairman of the party Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, at the outset, gave Tinubu his due as the national leader of the APC and its leader in the South-west geopolitical zone by consulting with him and sharing with him the delegates’ list.

“However, Tinubu’s camp tried to hedge its bet by backing three candidates for the primary. Rauf Aregbesola was backing Olusola Oke, Tinubu’s wife, Remi, was pushing for Senator Robert Ajayi Boroffice, while Tinubu was supporting Dr. Olusegun Abraham.

“So Akeredolu who was not given much of a chance came and decimated the field of Tinubu’s contestants in a very close race to win the primary. If you recall, he only beat Abraham who was second by 31 votes while Abraham beat Oke who came third in the primary by 97 votes.

“The reason it was so close was because Tinubu’s camp was hedging its bet and did not want to put all of its eggs in one basket, so it could not make up its mind by backing one candidate against Akeredolu.

“As such, the votes that could have gone to Abraham was split among other candidates that they were backing,” the presidency source explained.

He also revealed that once Akeredolu emerged the party’s candidate in the Ondo poll, the APC, its governors and presidency were in no mood to change the outcome of the primary despite the recommendation of the review panel that it should hold another primary, citing other instances such as the Katsina and Adamawa primaries in 2014.

“If Buhari could accept the outcome of the Katsina primary in which his preferred candidate, Hadi Sirika lost to Aminu Masari, and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar accepted his candidate’s loss to Jibrilla Bindow, we would have expected Tinubu to do likewise by embracing Akeredolu as the APC candidate in Ondo.

“However, he has refused to do so, forgetting that the loss of his candidate to Akeredolu was self-inflicted,” he said.

Meanwhile, APC has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to postpone this weekend’s governorship election in Ondo State on account of the internal crisis in the PDP.

APC said that it opposes the call made by PDP on the electoral body to shift the election date to allow it settle its internal crisis.

A statement yesterday by its National Secretary, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, said that the crisis in the PDP was self-inflicted and as such the party could not hold Ondo State and the country hostage on account of its internal problem.

“The attention of the APC has been drawn to a bizarre request by a faction of the PDP on INEC to postpone the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State on account of the PDP’s internal crisis.

“APC calls on INEC to ignore PDP’s bizarre request and concentrate on delivering a free, fair, credible and transparent ballot on election day.

“The PDP in continuation of its wild conspiracies on the Ondo governorship election has also accused the APC of colluding with the judicial system, INEC and security agencies to ‘manipulate’ the outcome of the Ondo State governorship election.

“The PDP crisis and the aftermath governorship candidate tussle within its ranks are self-inflicted and the PDP cannot hold Ondo State and indeed the country hostage on account of its internal crisis.

“Instead of making the ridiculous election postponement request on INEC, the PDP should focus and redirect its energy towards putting its house in order.

“The APC is not party to any scheme to subvert justice and undermine the very progressive and participatory democracy which the APC fiercely stands for.

“The Ondo electorate is wise and will vote for the candidate with a proven track record of performance on election day,” it said.

APC Crisis: Tinubu Responsible For Own MISFORTUNES - Former Ekiti Gov. Fayemi Tears Estranged Godfather To Shred

APC Crisis: Tinubu Responsible For Own MISFORTUNES - Former Ekiti Gov. Fayemi Tears Estranged Godfather To Shred
Sequel to the ongoing intraparty crisis segregating the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC), another known "political son" to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who had chosen to pitch his tent with President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun, Dr Kayode Fayemi has thrown a stone at his former political godfather, Tinubu over the weekend.

The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, who Saturday described the embattled national leader of the party as a leader and hardworking person, however maintained that Tinubu was responsible for his own misfortunes in the party, saying no one can be seeing himself as the indispensable where thousand of intellectuals operate.

According to the former Ekiti State governor, "Asiwaju might have been instrumental to the political breakthrough of some of us, he has the financial muscle, but we equally paid our dues without opportunity of negotiation. We have always been the "Yes Sir" types and we never complained. But we never expected him to think such can continue where development takes place. It is no news that whatever goes around comes around."

Fayemi urged the supporters of the President Buhari-led administration to remain steadfast and focused. He added that the present economic situation of the country was a result of some injurious pieces of advice given the presidency at the inception of this administration by some people he described as leaders without visions who had wanted to hijack the presidency before God's intervention.

He assured Nigerians that everything shall soon take formation and the country shall regain her strength again as the giant of Africa, adding that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu should not continue tearing the party and the country apart with his "golden silence" which he (Fayemi) said was destructive and well understood.

"Asiwaju's antics are not new to us. We can never underrate his political calculations and permutations. Yet, we cannot continue worshiping him. He deserves respect that we are giving but should stop making this country and our party ungovernable for our leaders. The steering is always meant for the driver and not in conjunction with the conductor.

"Once a political party is formed and a national leader is appointed or elected, other mini-leaders should be humble enough to respect the decisions of the constituted authority no matter what. Wherever there is no orderliness, there can never be progress, and we call ourselves the Progressives. We must be ready to live out our name as the Progressives.

"What happened in Ondo State during our primary that produced Chief Rotimi Akeredolu against the wishful calculation and permutation of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to impose Hon. Segun Abraham was a complete display of egocentric orientation by Asiwaju. No single man, I repeat, no single individual can override the decision of our political party. No more in APC!

"We have presented Akeredolu and we believe he is winning the governorship election by all means. Ondo people have supported our candidate and with the reactions of the people, he has the victory already. Our second coming to this state will be to inaugurate Chief Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) as the Governor of Ondo State, political anti-party and calculations of some disgruntled elements notwithstanding, because everything, I mean every arrangement is in order," Kayode Fayemi assured APC supporters.

Ondo Election: Judge Bribery Scandal Rocks Fashola, Fayemi, Amosun

Judge Bribery Scandal Rocks Fashola, Fayemi, Amosun
Just two weeks to the controversial ridden gubernatorial election in Ondo State, the Minister of Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, his Solid Minerals counterpart, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, at a secret meeting allegedly boasted to compromise Judge handling a case involving Mr. Olusola Oke's eligibility suit.

Olusola Oke is the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, AD. He has since been dragged to court by the Party's legal adviser in an eligibility suit.

Oke, yesterday Oke yesterday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to caution some ministers who he said were bent on stopping him from contesting the November 26 election, The Nationa Newspaper report suggests

Addressing a news conference in Akure, the Ondo State capital, yesterday, the Director-General of the Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation (OOCO), Mr. Bola Ilori, specifically, fingered Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, his Jigwa State counterpart who chaired the All Progressives Congress (APC) Primary Election Committee, Abubakar Badaru, Minister of Works Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Solid Minerals Kayode Fayemi and  Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosu as  arrowheads of the plot to stop him. This, said Ilori, is to pave the way for their “protégé”, APC’s Rotimi Akeredolu.

His words: “This plot to stop Chief Oke from contesting the election is simply to clear the way for their protégé, Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who is also vying for the Ondo State governorship position.

“The plan of these people is to prevent Olusola Oke from contesting the election because their candidate, Akeredolu, is not in contention, having lost relevance with the people. Thus, they have resorted to lots of underhand tactics to stop him.

“We are aware of the pedigree of President Buhari, his uprightness and his zero tolerance to dirty tricks to get advantage of people, even against his avowed antagonists, but this cabal is using the paraphernalia of the Federal Government with impunity to get unsavoury advantage, thus tainting his good work.

“When they noted that Olusola Oke was becoming popular by the day while their protégé lag behind in the build-up to the election, they have resorted to series of underhand tactics to get him out of the race, thus leaving the APC candidate as the major candidate in the election, owing to the festering crisis in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).”

Ilori alleged that there was an attempt to award a N10 billion contract without due process to a community and plough back N7 billion out of it into APC’s plan for the election, which he claimed the APC plots to rig.

“Also, they have tried several times to compromise the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State without success, given the media altercations between the APC and INEC of recent,” he said.

Ilori added: “Next, they have surreptitiously instigated the Legal Adviser of the Alliance for Democracy, a man who is not a candidate in the Ondo State election, to institute a suit in the court. While we are not against this action since it is the fundamental right of anybody to resort to the court as an arbiter, but we have credible information from a meeting held by this  cabal last week in Abuja, where they boasted that they would ensure that the Judge who will sit on the matter would be compromised to give ex-exparte injunction against Chief Olusola Oke.

This in itself, he noted, “amounts to double speak” from top officials of a government noted for its uprightness.

“When you accuse judges as being corrupt and you did indeed  move against some of them, isn’t it an irony that members of the same government are the ones boasting of compromising a Judge that would sit on the matter in Court? Such, Your Excellency, is the desperation of this cabal who are hell-bent on tainting your administration’s reputation.

“But their best joker, which has been lent credence to by the popular boasts in town in the past few days by Akeredolu and his minders is the ploy to instigate the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to invite and possibly detain Chief Oke days before the election over phantom allegations. Chief Olusola Oke has been severally investigated and cleared by the anti-graft agency of any financial impropriety, but of recent, they have been putting a lot of pressure on the Commission to harass him of late with a view to making him look as if he is guilty, a development which is far from the truth.”

He wondered why this renewed onslaught against Oke now that the election is two weeks away, adding : “But we are abreast of their tricks, which will continue to fail. We want to express our absolute confidence that he has nothing to fear from any anti-graft agencies, having left office on a clean slate 12 years ago and having been cleared

severally too.

“We also want to quickly tell his traducers that Olusola Oke was a part-time member of the Niger Delta Development Commission and he was never involved in any untoward activities while in office. The allegations against him are mere tissues of lies that had been found to be so by the proper authorities

“We are aware of their evil plots to perpetrate perfidy in Ondo State during the election and the people of the state are watching them keenly. We want to appeal to Mr. President to please be aware of this grand plot to harass Chief Olusola Oke, distract him from meeting the people in his campaign tours and possibly to get him disqualified through unsavory means.

“The details of all the nocturnal meeting they have been holding, we are aware. It is not a new ploy and we are abreast of it. It happened few days to the APC primaries when this same Rotimi Akeredolu wrote a petition against him in which his tissues of lies were later exposed, all to get him disqualified, because he knows that he is but a mere babe in politics and cannot win the election.

“Now, they have started again, putting pressure on INEC, the security agents, resorting to compromising the Judiciary and lately to use the EFCC to restrain restrain and frustrate him, but by the grace of God, they will fail.

“But Chief Oke is not deterred. If they like, let them dare the will of God, the consequences await them. Our people in Ondo State are watching them keenly and in the fullness of time, they will get their rewards in full if they don’t desist

“We want to commend Mr. President for his zero tolerance to perfidy and we urge him to please save our souls in Ondo State from those who say the masses shall not be allowed to live and do their things in peace.

Fayemi, Fashola: it’s not true

Fayemi’s media aide Mr. Olayinka Oyebode described his boss as a decent politician who would not be dragged into an unnecessary controversy. He said: “The Minister of Solid Minerals is a busy man. He is a focused person doing the work given to him by the President diligently. It is during election period like this that people concoct lies to malign others. We have no reply for frivolities.”

Fashola’s Media Adviser Hakeem Bello said the allegation is laughable, saying that it did not make any sense. He said: “A reporter called me last week to ask for a similar reaction. Let’s look it this way. What is the allegation about? Does it make meaning to any reasonable person? The Minister has much work to do than to be involved in what these people are saying. His priority is to stay focused on the job.”

Quality Of Nickel Discovered In Nigeria Is “extraordinary” – Comet, An Australian Mining Firm

Quality Of Nickel Discovered In Nigeria Is “extraordinary” – Comet, An Australian Mining Firm
Premium Times - The abundance of native nickel balls recently discovered in Nigeria is “an extraordinary occurrence in a style not known to have been previously documented”, Comet, a private mining syndicate headed by veteran Australian miner, Hugh Morgan, has said.

In a paper distributed at the Africa Down Under Conference which held September 7 – 9 in Perth, Australia, the company said the discovery had “important implications” for nickel exploration worldwide.

The paper was delivered by the Comet team comprising Mr. Morgan, Professor Louisa Lawrence, Stephen Davis, and Steven Pragnell.

The metal named “Titan”, measuring 0.1-5.0 millimetres in diameter and weighing an estimated three weight percent, was found on the southern margin of the Jos Plateau, near the rural villages of Dangoma and Bakin Kogi, Kaduna State.

“Although the bedrock has not been tested at depth, the wide distribution of abundant nickel metal balls and their secondary ferruginous alteration product within residual weathered bedrock at Titan, indicates a highly endowed primary mineralised system,” Comet said.
“To our knowledge, this style of high-grade native nickel metal deposit has not been previously documented.”

Nigeria’s Minister for Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi, was among the speakers at the three-day event held at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Australia.

Mohammed Abbas, the permanent secretary at the ministry, said the discovery was made “many months ago” and urged the public to allow the government produce a detailed report.

The Comet team said the metal was identified and exploration commenced in early 2015.

“Pits dug up to six metres deep, at roughly 200 metre centres, show the nickel occurs in a coarse-grained micaceous felsic unit, associated with localised zones of mafic and olivine-rich ultramafic bedrocks”, the team said.

Traces of other metals such as zinc, copper, lead, and cobalt were also detected in the core and rims of the nickel.

The team said ongoing activation of major bedrock structures in the area had resulted in recent tectonic shift and exposure of fresh nickel metal at the surface in an erosional drainage basin at Titan.

“However, the nickel balls are not physically (concentrated) into a heavy mineral fraction within the soil cover sequence due to the low erosional gradient in the catchment and the freshness of the bedrock.

“Furthermore, the exposed metal balls are prevented from significant oxidation due to good drainage and the formation of a protective stable secondary oxide layer on the metal surface.”

The project area spans 20 square kilometres where high concentrations of ferruginous brown balls extend over a half a kilometre to the north and west of the nickel metal occurrence.

“Although the bedrock has not yet been tested at depth, the wide distribution of abundant nickel metal balls and their secondary ferruginous alteration product within residual weathered bedrock at Titan, indicates a large highly endowed primary mineralized system,” Comet said.
“To our knowledge, this style of high-grade native nickel metal has not been previously documented.”

It was gathered that Comet is currently focusing its exploration on developing a nickel project that targets the native nickel balls in the shallow weathered bedrock over an area of a half square kilometre.

The company is reportedly seeking funding to continue exploration and has approached a few interested parties.

Nickel is primarily sold for first use as a refined metal. About 65 percent of it, consumed in the West, is used to produce stainless steel.
The world’s largest producers of the metal include The Philippines, Indonesia, Russia, Canada, and Australia, according to the US Geological Survey.

Last month, Mr. Fayemi told Bloomberg that one of the Nigerian government’s priorities is to meet its annual steel demand of 6.8 metric tons, from a current output of less than 2.5 metric tons, produced mainly from scrap iron.
“In two to five years, we want to have started production of iron ore, lead, zinc, bitumen, nickel, coal, and gold at a serious scale,” Mr. Fayemi had said.

THE UNTOLD: How Fashola, Fayemi, El-Rufai CONSPIRED, Raised N1.6b For Akeredolu To Disgrace Tinubu In Ondo

ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU
Saturday's All progressives Congress, APC gubernatorial election might have come and gone, but definitely, the last has not been told as fresh facts have emerged on the roles allegedly played by the Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai; Minister for Solid Minerals, Dr Kayode Fayemi and Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola raised over N1.5 billion to ensure the emergence of Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) as the Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu; all in a conspiracy bid to disgrace and tame the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, media reports suggest.

Akeredolu polled 669 votes to defeat APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s anointed candidate, Mr Segun Abraham, who scored 635 votes in the keenly contested primary election held in Akure, Ondo State capital last Saturday.

Tinubu had declared support for Mr Segun Abraham, a decision that got other aspirants, especially Akeredolu miffed.

According to reports, apparently relying on the support of El-Rufai, Fayemi and Fashola, the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) had boasted that outcome of the primary election would shocked Tinubu.

Multiple sources revealed that Fayemi alone allegedly contributed over N700 million while Fashola and El-Rufai provided N450 million and N400 million respectively.

Fayemi was said to have particularly made up his mind to work against the emergence of Abraham just to pay Tinubu back for working against his (Fayemi) ministerial ambition.

“Fayemi does not hate Abraham, but he opted to fund Akeredolu just to show Tinubu he no longer enjoy the total control of the APC in the Southwest. He was the one who rallied El-Rufai and Fashola and conscripted them into what they latter termed; ‘operation stop Asiwaju.’

“El-Rufai acceded to Fayemi’s plot to stop Tinubu’s anointed candidates because of his 2019 presidential ambition and he operated clandestinely. Don’t forget that he needs Tinubu’s support to, but he is closer to the likes of Fayemi, Fashola, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and others who have fell out with Tinubu,” a source said.

JUBILATION As Australian Syndicates Discovers Billion of US$ Worth World Class Nickel In Northern Nigeria

JUBILATION As Australian Syndicates Discovers Billion of US$ Worth World Class Nickel In Northern Nigeria
A relief might be coming amidst the lingering economic crunch in Nigeria as an Australian mining syndicate led by Hugh Morgan has just discovered a highly unusual nickel worth billion of United States of American dollars in Northern Nigeria, The Australian, an Australian National Newspaper published earlier today.

According to the newspaper, "the discovery is unusual because the nickel is found in small balls up to 3mm in diameter of a high purity in shallow soils in what could be the surface expression of a much bigger hard-rock nickel field."

"The nickel balls, rumoured to grade better than 90 per cent nickel and thought to be a world first given their widespread distribution, offer the potential for early cashflow from a simple and low-cost screening operation to fund a full assessment of the find that has exploration circles buzzing."

Details on the find are sketchy, the reporter says

When asked to comment last week, Mr Morgan would only say it was for the Nigerian government to make an announcement.

Nickel is no stranger to the Liberal Party bulwark and former Reserve Bank board member. Between 1990 and 2003 he was chief executive of Western Mining Corporation (taken over by BHP Billiton in 2005) when it was Australia’s biggest nickel producer.

What is known is that Nigeria’s Minister for Solid Minerals, Kayode Fayemi, is listed to speak at the three-day Africa Down Under mining conference at Perth’s Pan Pacific Hotel next month, with past conferences drawing bumper crowds.

Dr Fayemi is to speak first on Wednesday September 7, and Mr Morgan will follow along with consulting geologist Louisa Lawrance. Mr Morgan is listed as speaking as a director of the private company Comet Minerals.

The discovery, Titan, is rumoured to be close to Dangoma, a small farming town about 160km northeast of the Nigerian capital of Abuja.

Dr Fayemi is one of 13 African mines ministers to attend this year’s Africa Down Under, reflecting the importance African nations place on attracting Australian mining expertise and funding for mining.

Nigeria itself has a stated ambition to grow its mining sector as an offset to its dependence on the oil industry, which has been ravaged by the slump in prices.

It has said it wants to attract billions of dollars of new investment in the sector, a push that could benefit from likely international interest in the Titan find by Mr Morgan’s private syndicate.

Earlier this month, Dr Fayemi told Bloomberg that about $US5 billion would “kickstart the mining sector”.

“In two to five years, we want to have started production of iron ore, lead, zinc, bitumen, nickel, coal and gold at a serious scale,” he said

Some protesters believed to be supporters of the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose have besieged major streets in Ado Ekiti, the State Capital to protest against the down tool protest action by the state's Nigeria Labour Congress.

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Ekiti State chapter had few days ago embarked on strike to protest five months unpaid salaries.

The protesters this morning carrying various placards with various inscription are berating the Labour for going on strike.

Some of the placards inscribed; "Fayose Can't Give What he Doesn't Have", NLC is on political strike", "Fayemi is responsible for Ekiti hardship" and so on.

Governor Fayose had reportedly said he would not sell the members of his family to pay the workers since the state is insolvent. He accused his predecessor, Kayode Fayemi, now minister for Solid Mineral as being responsible for the current insolvency of the state.

Another $3.8b, N358b Theft Discovered In Diezani's NNPC Admin, You'll Cry For Nigeria

Fresh revelation according to Minister of Solid Mineral, Dr. Kayode Fayemi suggests that a sum of $3.8billion and another N358.3billion oil revenues that should have gone to Federation in 2013 was not remitted by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and its sub-units, the Nigeria Extractive Industries and Transparency Initiative (NEITI), uder the watch of former Minister of Petroleum,  Alison Diezani-Madueke.

The report, which covered activities of the oil and gas and mining sectors in 2013, was unveiled by the Chairman of NEITI, Kayode Fayemi on Monday in Abuja.

Aside the outstanding revenues from NNPC, Fayemi said, citing the report, that the sums of $5.966billion and N20.4billion revenues were denied the federation due to crude oil swaps and crude theft.

Highlights of the report  added that the sum of $599.8million was also lost as a result of under-payments of petroleum profit taxes and royalties by oil and gas companies.

The audit also revealed that the Nigeria Liquefied Natural gas (NLNG) paid the sum of $1.289 billion as dividends, interest and loan repayment for 2013.

However, while NNPC acknowledged receipt of the amount, it did not remit the money to either the federal government or the Federation.

The amount brings to a total of $12.9 billion the total NLNG payments received by NNPC between 2005 and 2013 but not remitted by NNPC to the federal government, the report showed.

NLNG is a joint venture project owned by four shareholders namely, the Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by the NNPC which has a 49 per cent stake, Shell Gas BV, SGBV, 25.6 per cent; Total LNG Nigeria Limited, 15 per cent; and Eni International (N.A,) N.V. S. A, 10.4 per cent.
