Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) on Friday said it received a distress call about diesel theft around Ibadan and Abeokuta Street, Ilasamaja Oshodi Isolo Local Government, Lagos.
Investigation by the ERT at the scene of the incident revealed that some houses in the area had knowledge of a well filled with diesel.
LASEMA spokesman, Kehinde Adebayo, in a statement said; “further probing into the incident revealed a case of bunkering as eyewitnesses gave reports of trucks coming in at night to load diesel”, Daily Post reports
“The affected area has been cordonned off, while occupants of the affected houses were asked to vacate immediately to avoid any disaster.”
General Manager LASEMA, Michael Akindele said that the Lagos State Government will soon come out with further action to be taken on the matter.
Others involved at the operation were Lagos State Commusioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, Commander RRS, Commander NSCDC – Anti-vandals, DPO Ilasamaja, Environmental Officers from Isolo LCDA, among others.
