DSS Walks Amaechi Out Of Buhari's Chief of Staff's Office As Both Fight Dirty, You'll Be Shocked Over What
A viral media report suggests that all is not well between the transport minister, Mr. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and President Muhammadu Buhari's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari as both are allegedly at daggers down with each other over some appointments at the transport ministry.

Though unconfirmed, reported according to 247Ureports; information from sources within the presidency indicates that the President’s men may have lost all decorum as the struggle for influence and power gains steam.

As gathered, the two aides, the chief of staff and the minister of transport who have become arch enemies almost immediately following the swearing in of President Buhari into the President office, appears growing from work colleagues to playground brats as the day go by.

The war stance between the two personalities – Abba Kyari and Chibuike Amaechi is reported by sources to have degenerated to the point where security agents were instructed by the chief of staff to remove Chibuike Amaechi from the office of the chief of staff, recently.

The ugly situation began with President Buhari’s approval for a project concerning ports and/or railway – which was reported to worth millions of dollars. The minister of transport, Chibuike Amaechi was reported to have submitted the request for the approval directly to the President without having to go through the Secretary to the government of the federation [SGF] – as protocols require. As the president approved the project, the documents were routed through the office of the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

When Abba Kyari got a hold of the documents indicating the President had approved the project and the contract, he used his office as the chief of staff to input conditions into the approval. According to our source, the conditions were framed in such a manner that Chibuike Amaechi would not be able to make the conditions. 247ureports.com does not have the terms of the conditions, but it was clear to both men – Kyari and Amaechi – that the conditions were impossible to meet.

As the news of what the chief of staff had done reached the minister of transport, all hell was let lose. Amaechi lost his cool and headed straight for the office of the chief of staff in a raging tantrum. According to our source, Amaechi barged into the office in thug-like demeanor ready to pounce on the chief of staff. In what seemed like a flash, a heated argument ensued between the two aides to President Buhari. Amaechi was reported to have made threats to the chief of staff should he continue to interfere with his work at the ministry of transportation. The voices of the two men continued to raise in noise decibel. The noise caught the attention of outsiders. At this time, the chief of staff ordered the security men [DSS] to escort the minister out of his office. And they obeyed. “It was truly embarrassing. I have never seem Amaechi behave so thuggish.”

Our source continued to explain the reason behind Abba Kyari’s actions to derail the project approved by Mr. President. It was due to ‘neglect’ by Chibuike Amaechi for the office of the SGF and Chief of Staff.

The source adds that Amaechi had from the get go decided to deal with the President directly instead of going through the SGF – as protocols require. But the source clarifies that Mr. President’s actions appear to entertain and/or encourage Amaechi’s direct dealing with him. But the SGF and chief of staff were not happy with the idea because Amaechi remains the only minister who deals with the president directly.

Our source points to Abba Kyari’s grievance to Amaechi’s appointment of Hadiza Bala Usman to the head the Nigeria Port Authority [NPA]. Kyari believes Hadiza to be the girlfriend of Amaechi. “He believes Hadiza to be grossly unqualified for the job“. Hadiza was born 2nd January 1976 and only finished her university education in 2009.  In April 2014, she co-founded the global movement #BringBackOurGirls – demanding for the rescue of the 219 young girls abducted by the terrorist group Boko Haram from Chibok Secondary School in Borno State North East Nigeria.

The President is reported to have been briefed by both aides. Abba Kyari and Chibuike Amaechi have had their time with Mr. President to discuss on the issue. But it is not immediately ascertainable what the reaction of the President was. For now, the President appears to have taken no action.

In the meantime, the two men remain at daggers drawn.

Appeal Court Grants Right To Muslim Wear Hijab in Lagos‎ Schools

Appeal Court Grants Right To Muslim Wear Hijab in Lagos‎ Schools

An Appeal Court in Lagos has upturned a lower court judgment which banned the wearing of hijab by Muslim female students in Lagos State's schools

While delivering the verdict on Thursday, the justices set aside the verdict of the lower court (Lagos State High Court), which earlier disallowed the use of Hijab.

The special panel of the Court of Appeal set up to hear the case had previously reserved its judgement on Friday, May 27.

During the panel hearing, the presiding justice, A.B. Gumel, also asked parties involved in the case to update their defence documents.

Other Justices in the five-man panel set up by President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa are Justice M. Fasanmi, Justice A. Jauro, Justice J.S. Ikejegh and Justice I. Jombo Ofor.

‎The case is between Asiyat Kareem (Minor) suing through Mr. AbdulKareem Raji; Mariam Oyeniyi through Mr. Sulaimon Oyeniyi; and Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit (suing through its president, Saheed Ashafa), against Lagos State Government (LASG) and others, who were the respondent.

It would be recalled that Justice Amina Augie of the Court of Appeal in Lagos earlier affirmed that granting of the right to Muslim students to wear Hijab in Lagos State schools needed constitutional interpretation.

Justice Augie, while granting the right to hear a case on the Hijab matter on May 3rd, asked the appellants to write to the President of Appeal Court to set up a full court (of five justices) to hear the case.

In the case, the appellants want the judgement of the lower court to be reversed, while the defendant wants it to be upheld.
There was wild jubilation at the premises of the Court of Appeal in Lagos State when the right to wear Hijab (Islamic headscarf) in public primary and secondary schools was granted on Thursday, July 21, 2016.

After the judgement, Muslim males and females were seen praising God and exchanging pleasantries.

Most of them were shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’, ‘Alihamdulilah’‎, meaning Allah is the greatest and all thanks is due to Allah respectively.

With the verdict, it means that Muslim students in Lagos State public schools have the right to wear Hijab on their school uniforms both within and outside their school premises without being punished or victimised.

Responding to the judgement, the President of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria in Lagos State, Saheed Ashafa, expressed delight over the pronouncement by the court.

While saying the right to wear Hijab was long overdue, Ashafa urged all parties to act in accordance with the judgement.

He said, “This is victory for Islam! Victory to Muslims. The words of Allah have come to pass. We are glad that there are few judges whose neutrality has not be stained by sentiment.

“We wonder why we had to face so many challenges before our right is granted. This recognition and truthful interpretation on freedom of religion as enshrined in the Nigeria constitution (Section 36) and United Nations Charter, will further strengthen public trust on the judiciary.

“Today will remain historic in the life of every Muslim in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole. We will remain law abiding and appeal to all and sundry not to act in ways and manners that are contrary to the judgement.

“This should mark the end to harassment, embarrassment, victimisation, cheat and all acts of wickedness unleashed on Muslim female students who wear the Hijab.”

Also, Amirah of MSSN in Lagos State, Hafsah Badru, described Hijab as a religious garment, which should be put on at all times.

“Justice can never prevail over injustice, truth will always prevail over falsehood; the commands of Allah are supreme over all man made laws. Allah is the Greatest. We have not asked anyone not to observe their religious right in respect to legality, we have only asked that ours should not be tampered upon, and as Allah wants it, we have the right granted,” she said.

She, subsequently, appreciated all Muslims and Islamic organisations who supported the Muslim students to get their right to wear Hijab on school uniform granted.

Defection To PDP Reports: Saraki Breaks Silence

I've Not Dumped APC, But I Truly Attended PDP Caucus Event - Saraki
Apparently, in reaction his reported defection to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki has debunked defection claims, saying he remained a bonafide member of the All Progressives Congress.

The embattled Saraki stressed that he remains “committed to the APC; a party that he helped midwife and worked for its victory in the 2015 elections.”

According to Daily Post, Saraki in a statement issued on his behalf on Thursday by his Special Assistant, New Media, Bamikole Omishore, asserted that claims of his purported defection making the rounds on social media were entirely untrue.

The statement explained that, “In his official capacity as Senate President and chairman, National Assembly, he attended the end of session event of the PDP caucus yesterday evening and spent only 30 minutes before leaving the members to continue with the event.

“The Senate President would like to assure every Nigerian that he is committed to the APC-led government and appreciates the confidence reposed in him and the APC during the 2015 General Elections.”

BREAKING: NFF Appoints New Super Eagles' Coach After Le Guen's Snub

BREAKING: NFF Appoints New Super Eagles' Coach After Le Guen's Snub
Nigeria has confirmed the permanent appointment of caretaker coach Salisu Yusuf to the senior national team but have been forced into an embarrassing backtrack over their announcement of Frenchman Paul le Guen as technical advisor.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officially handed the position of head coach to Yusuf at their executive committee meeting on Wednesday, the organisation confirmed in a statement.

They have also asked their technical and development committee to come up with a recommendation for the post of technical advisor within seven days.

The NFF announced that former Paris St Germain and Rangers manager Le Guen would fill the role on Monday, subject to agreeing personal terms, but were left red-faced when the 52-year-old told French media the following day he had no intention of accepting their offer.

The NFF later released a statement in which they denied approving Le Guen for the role, saying his name had been put forward as a mere recommendation by the technical and development committee.

"The technical and development committee perused the profiles of all the coaches who submitted applications and find Mr. Paul Le Guen suitable for the post," a statement said.

"But during final negotiations, he objected to being given a target and also did not wish to live in Nigeria, which was a sore point with the board."

Yusuf had been in charge of the national team for Nigeria's two friendly matches played in May, a 1-0 victory over Mali and a 3-1 success against Luxembourg.

The country has been searching for a permanent head coach since the resignation in February of former national team star Sunday Oliseh, who cited contract breaches and unpaid salaries for is decision to quit.

Nigeria's next fixture is a dead-rubber African Nations Cup qualifier against Tanzania in September with both nations out of the running for the finals.

The country has also been drawn alongside Algeria, Zambia and Cameroon in the qualifiers for the World Cup in Russia that start in October.

'Stubborn' Naira Defies All CBN Solutions, Sinks Further Against The Dollar

'Stubborn' Naira Defies All CBN Solutions, Sinks Further Against The Dollar

'Stubborn' Naira Defies All CBN Solutions, Sinks Further Against The Dollar
The Nigerian currency, the naira has yesterday sunk further to N375 to a Unites State dollar, defying every solution meted out by the Central Bank of Nigeria to strengthen it.

in the light of incessant fall of the naira, some economists on Wednesday advised the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria to review their policies and introduce measures that would turn around the dwindling fortunes of the nation’s economy.

They spoke against the backdrop of the persistent fall of the naira against the dollar, with the local currency exchanging for 375 against the greenback at the parallel market on Wednesday; the imminent economic recession; and the spike in inflation to 16.5 per cent in June.

The Chief Executive Officer, Economic Associates, Dr. Ayo Teriba, who noted that the global fall in crude oil prices had made the nation’s oil revenue to nosedive, said there was a need for the Federal Government to seek foreign exchange from alternatives sources in order to cover for the shortfall.

He said Nigeria and its economic managers could not afford to fold their arms and allow the situation to get worsened. Rather, he said efforts must be geared towards implementing policies that would fight negative growth and inadequate liquidity at the interbank market.

Teriba said, “There are a number of things we can do as a country to boost our forex supply. Just the way India did some years ago, we can tap Nigerians in the Diaspora to contribute forex to save the situation at home. We can’t say we have done all when we have not done this.

“Billions of dollar can be raised through this. Saudi Arabia has just raised billions of dollars by issuing an Initial Public Offering on government agencies. Nigeria can raise billions of dollars in Foreign Direct Investment by issuing IPOs on government monopolies in critical infrastructure like rail, power transmission, oil and gas pipelines. There are a whole lot of things we can do to save the economy.”

A professor of Economics at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Sherriffdeen Tella, who emphasised the need to stop the speculative attack on the naira, said the Federal Government needed to review its policies and boost local production.

He said, “All attempts must be made to increase local production, especially food items, and reduce importation of such. These, coupled with resistance to price hike, will keep prices down as the economy picks up gradually from reflationary economic policies and stable oil and electricity outputs.”

An economic analyst at Ecobank Nigeria, Mr. Kunle Ezun, said there was the need to close the gap between the exchange rates at the official and parallel markets.

He said the government must also address the spike in inflation, negative GDP growth and naira depreciation effectively and urgently.

Meanwhile, the naira tumbled further against the dollar at the parallel market on Wednesday and closed at 375, down from 368 on Tuesday.

Foreign exchange dealers said the lingering scarcity of forex at the interbank market was shifting dollar demand to the black market.

The local currency had lingered between 346 and 348 at the parallel market before tumbling to over 360 this week, following the total floating of the naira by the CBN on Friday.

The local currency, however, eased slightly against the dollar at the official interbank market and closed at 294.23 on Wednesday, up from 294.87 on Tuesday.

Dealers said the local currency was stuck at 294.23 after just one transaction was carried out, with the supply of dollars drying up and no intervention by the CBN, Reuters reported.

Highlighting the state of the interbank market, an economist at Exotix, Mr. Alan Cameron, said, “Recent FX reforms have been enough to re-open the investment case for Nigeria, but there is still some uncertainty about the functioning of the market.

“The absence of volatility at N283/$ was interpreted as a sign that administrative controls were still in place; it remains to be seen if those will be fully removed.”

According to some analysts, foreign investors have welcomed the removal of currency controls by the CBN but many are still steering clear of the Nigerian economy until it shows signs of a concrete recovery.

“Most investors would like to see a more liquid FX market before resuming purchases of local assets,” the Head of Africa Strategy at Standard Chartered Bank, Samir Gadio, told Reuters.

He, however, added, “Given the significant discount of naira-settled futures, a number of offshore financial institutions and hedge funds could be tempted to get involved in the foreseeable future.”

The Chief Executive Officer, Cowry Assets Management Limited, Mr. Johnson Chukwu, said the naira was falling at the parallel market because demand had shifted there due to lack of liquidity at the interbank market.

However, the National President, Association of Bureau De Change Operators, Aminu Gwadabe, said the naira was not sustainable at 375 to the dollar at the parallel market.

He described the demand as artificial, saying, “I think the parallel market has been taken over by some forces. Where is this demand coming from? I think this is not sustainable.”

At Last, Buhari's Wife Sues Noisemaker Gov. Fayose Over Halliburton Scandal
More trouble has beclouded the whistleblower governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose as the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, has sued him for alleging that she was one of those indicted for involvement in the Halliburton multi-million dollar scandal, Punch Newspaper reports this morning

Earlier, Aisha Buhari had on many occasions denied involvement in the scam with a threat to sue Fayose if he did not stop dragging her into a fraud she knew nothing about.

Bother Nuhu Ribadu and Ibrahim Lamorde, two former Chairmen of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, had also declared that Aisha was not one of the Nigerian mentioned in the scam or indicted for the scandal.

The EFCC investigated the scam during Lamorde’s tenure as the anti-graft boss.

But in spite of these, Fayose had insisted that the President’s wife was involved in the fraud in which Nigeria lost huge sums of money, alleging that the Federal Government’s anti-corruption war was selective and politically-motivated.

The governor claimed that Aisha Buhari was named in a document that stated she was one of those indicted in the celebrated scandal.

However, a Nigerian online medium, Premium Times reported on Wednesday night that Mrs. Buhari had dragged Fayose to court for maligning her name.

Premium Times stated that it had exclusively obtained the court summons, dated July 20, 2016, that Aisha filed against the governor.

When our correspondent contacted Fayose’s lawyer, Mr. Mike Ozekhome (SAN), on Wednesday night to confirm whether his client had been served the summons or not, his telephone number had been switched off.

Saraki, Ekweremadu'll Know No Peace Until They Vacate Seat - Senate-Colleague Reveals
The leadership of the Senate under Senator Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu will not enjoy peace until they are pushed out of office, Senator Robert Ajayi Boroffice said on Wednesday.

Boroffice who was at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to collect his nomination and expression of interest form to contest the party’s ticket for the Ondo State governorship election insisted that his group, Unity Forum, would continue to challenge the Bukola Saraki, Senate President, and Ike Ekweremadu, his deputy, until integrity is restored.

Senator Boroffice added that the Unity Forum where he belongs was fighting the current Senate leadership based on principle and not because they hate anybody.

Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja after picking form to contest the governorship primary election of the party, Boroface said his group would continue to “fight to ensure that the image of the Senate is redeemed.”

“I am one of those people who went to court to challenge the election of the Senate principals and I maintain that we have done that on principle not because we hate anybody. We want to defend the integrity of the Senate and the sanity of the rule of law.

“So, it is not that we are all working in the same direction, some of us are speaking out and I hope that you press men will give expression to our voices when we speak out.

“So, I can assure you that we will not be intimidated, we will continue to fight to ensure that the image of the Senate is redeemed so that any senator in Nigeria can raise his head anywhere in the world and described himself as senator.”

When asked to comment on the agitation for restructuring of the country, the two-term senator said, “The Senate again this year we pray that we have enough time to send this amendment to Mr. President to be assented to. If you look at it, you will see we are already restructuring with that with those amendment. Some of the things that they are in the exclusive list of the Federal Government have been brought to the concurrent list of the state and we are actually committed to true federalism, fiscal federalism.

“Some of us are in support of the state police, even though we know is subject to misuse. We believe that certain items that are now in the exclusive list of the Federal Government should be transferred to the state.

“So we are doing something about it, we are not making noise about it and by the time we get this amendment thing, many Nigerians would know we have done a good job not only in terms of structure but in the area of revenue allocation these are very important issue we cannot deny.”

According to the governorship aspirant, Ondo should be one of the best in terms of economic vibrancy, it’s an oil producing state, has second largest deposits of bitumen in the world.

“It has natural resources like cocoa, palm oil, coal but all these remain untapped…We need someone knowledgeable, that can help to create jobs, ease our ailing economy.

”We have ceramic, rubber, wood industries that are all dead. If we revive them we will not need to depend on the government. We will plug all leakages and develop a very vibrant economy.

“We will run a knowledge-driven economy. We must make sure Nigerians pay their taxes. There are countries that have no natural resource and are doing very well,” he said.

CORRUPTION: Ribadu Tongue-lashes Jonathan, Lauds Buhari, Reveals Cabals Still After Him

CORRUPTION: Ribadu Tongue-lashes Jonathan, Lauds Buhari, Reveals Cabals Still After Him

CORRUPTION: Ribadu Tongue-lashes Jonathan, Lauds Buhari, Reveals Cabals Still After Him
In a veil manner, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Malam Nuhu Ribadu has lambasted past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan for lacking the political will to fight corruption. He however lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his zeal, political will to fight corruption to a standstill.

Rubadu on Wednesday said he was still “paying dearly” for his efforts to rid the country of corruption, The Nation reports

According to him, corruption would not have become so endemic if past administrations had the will to fight it.

Ribadu, who denied tampering with recovered assets while at EFCC, said highly placed government officials frustrated the commission’s work, culminating in his removal from office and ‎halting the progress being made in the anti-graft war.

“Somebody was brought in to destroy the agency. It was a tragedy,” Ribadu said.

He spoke in Abuja at a National Stakeholders’ Workshop on the Recovery and Management of Recovered Assets, organised by the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), in collaboration with the Commonwealth Secretariat.

PACAC chairman, Prof Itsay Sagay (SAN), said if Ribadu had not been removed, maybe corruption would not have become so endemic.

He said developing strategies for recovery of stolen assets would act as a deterrent to looters.

“Seizure of assets is more painful to them than imprisonment,” Sagay said.

Ribadu, who gave the keynote speech with the theme: Assets Recovery in Nigeria: Experiences from the past, said although he was still paying the price for stepping on some toes, he had no regrets.

He denied allegations that he was part of those who allegedly re-looted recovered assets, including N1trillion, and expressed surprise that it was a subject of Senate investigation.

He said: “Considering the care we took in handling whatever was in our custody, I find it baffling and disheartening when I hear people make insinuations about how we handled recovered assets.

“It is a most unfair remark but certainly not totally surprising as the fight against corruption is essentially a thankless job, especially in our climes.

“That was why I was telling Prof Sagay: ‘Don’t bother sir, people will abuse you; don’t say anything. This is the job’.

“We are hurting people; we are taking things from those who took things and we denied them chance to make use of them and enjoy and with their family.

“I’m still paying dearly. In my own madness, I decided to go into politics and I am still paying for it. But I am not bothered. I’ll continue fighting till my last breath. If I’m given the opportunity I’ll do it again.”

Ribadu believes the Buhari administration has the political will to tackle corruption and has demonstrated it.

He described EFCC chairman Ibrahim Magu as “a good, courageous and honest guy”.

Ribadu said: “We have the most vital tool needed in this war, namely political will. I see in the present leadership, specifically the president, the will to allow the war to be fought without interference and the eagerness to support it in whatever way possible. These two points are important prerequisite in winning the anti-corruption war.

“We are also lucky to have a set of people, including Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) who are very passionate and committed to be in charge of the process,” he said.

According to him, due to the limitations of the existing laws on asset forfeiture, the current attempt at enacting a law to cover the spectrum of issues around forfeiture is a welcomed development.

He said despite lack of lack of adequate legal guidance, a lot of stolen assets laundered in several countries had been returned.

According to him, the most significant case of assets recovery prior to the establishment of the EFCC are those stolen by the late head of state General Sani Abacha loot. He said N83billion was recovered from Abacha’s loot locally alone.

“As a legal officer and prosecutor then with the Nigeria Police, I was attached to the team that worked on the Abacha case. With paucity of assets recovery laws, we relied on informal methods including Administrative Confiscation, a mechanism of confiscating assets through non-judicial means. Within the first few months, we recovered billions domestically from such forfeitures,” he said.

Ribadu said a national policy on assets recovery and their use must be developed, backed by a strong legal framework.

“I would suggest that high level, serious consultations be held between all the three arms of government to discuss steps and measures of evolving a very comprehensive national strategy on the fight against corruption that would enumerate the roles expected of all; the executive, the legislature and the judiciary.

“We should have a strategy that is a product of a consensus. Out of this strategy we can agree, if need be, to have new laws or institutions with clear mandates and responsibilities,” Ribadu said.

PACAC Executive Secretary, Prof Bolaji Owasanoye, said between $20billion to $40billion is stolen annually from developing countries.

According to him, seizure is important to the asset recovery process as it ensures the blockage or preservation of assets.

He said such seizures require judicial backing, usually through ex-parte orders (in which notice is not given) so as to prevent the looter from transferring or hiding the assets.

Director, Rule of Law Division, Commonwealth Secretariat, Katalaina Sapolu, said the international community and the Commonwealth would support the Buhari administration’s bid to recover stolen funds.

She said more importantly is what to do with the assets when recovered.

“The management of recovered proceeds is really an issue. Asset recovery has been implemented. But what do you do with the stolen assets once you receive them?

“We do not think that there has been, in many jurisdictions, a really settled view on the approach, because it requires development of policy and establishment of relevant institutional frameworks,” Sapolu said.

According to her, the outcome of the three-day workshop would help in the formulation of such policies.

“The money came but no one knows what happened to it, as we speak local government staff, pensioners have not been paid, in fact, our traditional rulers have not been paid their 5 per cent constitutional allocation for several months, civil servants pay was cut and some of them were even sacked because of dwindling revenue, however, they were not paid their entitlement even after the bailout came.

“That is why we invited them, definitely not for impeachment purposes.”

According to reports, many of the remaining lawmakers have fled the state and were taking refuge in Kaduna state and those who are still there are hiding for fear of arrest.

This is even as the lawmakers late Tuesday, in a statement signed by the chairman, House Committee on Information, Mannir Gidan Jaja, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene, saying Mr Yari is abusing his office.

Akpabio's Inlaws Accused Him Of Using Wife For Ritual As Her Health Condition Goes Beyond Ordinary

Akpabio's Inlaws Accused Him Of Using Wife For Ritual As Her Health Condition Goes Beyond Ordinary

Akpabio's Inlaws Accused Him Of Using Wife For Ritual As Her Health Condition Goes Beyond Ordinary
APC News Alert - Former Akwa Ibom State First Lady and wife of Senate Minority Leader, Ekaette Uloma. Akpabio is brain dead resulting from critical health condition, this paper can authoritatively report. Almost all her vital organs have failed, a medical condition doctors classify as Uremia has set in with the patient suffering from mental disorientation. As a result, a major crisis is brewing between the former Akwa Ibom State Governor and current Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio and his in-laws.

“Eka Esit Mbom” or “Mother Theresa” as the former first lady was fondly called by her supporters and loyalists when her husband was Governor of the oil-rich Niger Delta State has been critically ill for months before being in a state of coma two months ago.

Sources close to the family told our reporter that her health condition worsened suddenly as the EFCC and Code of Conduct Bureau started investigating billions of naira traced to her bank accounts as well as a multi million Pope John Paul International Nursery School in Uyo which she owns but she was unable to explain to the anti-graft agency where and how she got the money to build the school. The probe allegedly triggered anxiety and apprehension which took its toll on her for months before her health condition nosedived.

Her health allegedly deteriorated over the weekend with the failure of her kidney and liver, a situation that has left the former first lady non reactive to treatment thus not conscious of herself or environment. When her family members visited her in the hospital, she was alleged not to have recognise any of them nor could she comprehend anything they said. Her mental disorientation is alleged to be synonymous to complete insanity.

Rattled and dumbfounded by the sudden and drastic decline in the health of their daughter, Akpabio’s in-laws were alleged to have confronted the former Governor, accusing him of being the brain behind the ill health of their daughter. The In-laws accused the Senate Minority Leader of using his wife spiritually for sacrifice to acquire political power and relevance.

Akpabio on his part was alleged to have flayed up at the accusation, insisting that as the spouse, he feels the pain and trauma of his wife’s illness more than the in-laws, denying ever using his wife for ritual purposes as alleged. Unconfirmed reports say the in-laws threatened to take custody of the children for fear that Akpabio is also capable of using the children for rituals in view of his desperation to escape EFCC probe and prosecution for the over #2.5 trillion he is alleged to have stolen while he held sway as Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 2007-2015. He was said to have boasted before his wife took ill that he will do anything and go to any length to prevent being arrested by the EFCC or being sent to jail for corruption, a declaration that is fuelling suspicious among his in-laws that he might as well be ready to sacrifice his entire family if need be for political reasons.

According to a source privy to the confrontation, the in-laws were worried that in just one year after leaving office, his wife’s health could plummet so sudden and at a rate that is unprecedented with all her vital organs collapsing. The in-laws allegedly found it strange that their daughter who was a year ago healthy and could afford medical checkup anywhere in the world could fall critically sick all of a sudden, insisting that there is more to their daughters sickness than what meets the eyes.

Speaking exclusively to our reporter, an associate of the former first family who pleaded anonymity because she was not authorized to speak on the matter said Uloma’s health condition has gone critical as Akpabio’s wife is only surviving by the grace and mercy of God. “Uloma Akpabio’s condition is critical as her vital organs have collapsed. Her kidney and liver have failed. Once these two vital organs stop functioning, its not something good as it is the kidney and liver that process even the drugs she should take but when they fail as they have it becomes useless to even administer drugs”.

“Her issue is further compounded by the fact that her liver is also down. Doctors can try kidney transplant for her kidney but i am yet to hear of liver transplant. What makes her condition worse is that there is increased toxic in the blood resulting in mental disorientation and that’s the worst level of poison the body can take”, he declared.

Reacting on the development, a former Commissioner who served during the first tenure of Akpabio said what is happening to Akpabio and his wife is a clear case of nemesis catching up with the former first family, submitting that the same may befall the Udom Emmanuel family if he fails to quickly disassociate himself from the atrocities of the Akpabio dynasty against Akwa Ibom people and ask for forgiveness from those he has offended.

She insisted that though it is not African or cultural to rejoice at the misfortune of a person, the former first lady was privy to all the political motivated killings that were carried out in Akwa Ibom when her husband was in power which makes it practically impossible for most Akwa Ibom people to have empathy for her and accused Uloma of personally ordering the killings of some people especially women she believed were having an affair with her husband.

“Many people were killed by Uloma than Akpabio. The difference was that those Akpabio killed were more pronounced but that of the wife were done with much more clinical efficiency and the Department of State Security played a very prominent role in this regards as rogue agents within the service were used by the former first lady to silence perceived opponents”, she declared.

The former Commissioner noted with dismay that the crave for blood as a menu for power was so alarming during the Akpabio regime as many cabinet members who were not comfortable with what was going on within the government could not also resign and leave the regime for fear of being declared an enemy of the regime which would have qualified most of them to be marked for elimination by the “strike force” who for eight years were under the control and command of the former first lady.

“While am not happy with what is happening to her, the truth is that people should use this to know that there is a God who sees and watches anything and everything we do. I am not trying to sound pessimistic but I do not see Akpabio’s wife surviving her present ordeal because of volume of innocent blood that cry out to God for vengeance for what her family did is much. Too many wives were made widows. Too many children were made orphans by the Akpabio’s. Too many husbands had their wives kidnapped, raped and killed and you don’t expect God to keep mute forever. Their blood, tears and lamentation constantly cry to Heaven daily and must constantly haunt those behind their untimely death and this is one simple truth the many religious men and women who were sycophantic around the former first family refused to tell them because of the blood money they were receiving”.

She explained that the predicament of the former first lady should serve as a wake up call to leaders that one can still be in government and manage his or her political opponents without necessarily resorting to killing and assassination of perceived opponents and called on the present administration in the state to learn from what is happening to the Akpabio’s to avoid being a victim.

“I will not pity Uloma as she deserves whatever comes her way and i can tell you that the fate of her husband will be worse once the EFCC concludes its investigation of the ongoing probe of his tenure as Governor. But my prayer is that Udom and the wife should quickly learn from what is happening and distance themselves and their administration from anything Akpabio, lest God’s anger will also be upon Udom and his household”.

“Am not laying a curse on Udom but its a natural thing that will happen if he is not careful because a greater percentage of the deaths took place to pave the way for him to emerge as Governor. Personally, am alive today because of God as this same Uloma sent assassins to kill me that i was dating her husband. But God is my witness, her claim was not true and I became a Commissioner without knowing or meeting Akpabio before but based on recommendation some a high ranking chieftain of the PDP and Akpabio admired me because of his relationship with the one who recommended me to him for appointment as Commissioner but his wife took our closeness and relationship the wrong way. I left the cabinet because of her when it became obvious that my continued stay in the government will put my life and family at risk”, she submitted.

Saraki Regreting Defection To APC

Saraki Regreting Defection To APC
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Barrister Gboyega Oguntuase, has declared that the present trial of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki by the All Progressives Congress-led federal government was an indication that all is not well with defectors from PDP to the ruling party.

Oguntuase, former Commissioner for Information, reminded those planning to dump the party in Ekiti State not to lose sight of the regrets being suffered by party bigwigs that had defected to APC, noting that this shall be their lots if they take the plunge.

Speaking against the backdrop of the alleged factionalisation of the party in the state, with Mr. Williams Ajayi and a former Senator, Chief Clement Awoyelu leading a splinter group perceived to be loyal to a Senator from Ogun State, the party boss said his executive won’t tolerate rebellious actions from members, urging those belonging to the faction to retrace their steps.

Saraki is presently being tried by the federal government for alleged forgery of the Senate Standing Rules through which he was elected into office and for alleged false assets’ declaration at the Code of Conduct Tribunal while serving as the governor of Kwara State.

Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Oguntuase said it is no longer profitable to leave a democratic party like the PDP and defect to the APC, a party he described as too ‘sectional and discriminative’ to accommodate defectors.

The Chairman also disproved the wide spread insinuation that the party executive was being tele guided and out rightly subsumed by Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Why I Visited APC Secretariat - Atiku Opens Up
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  has explained the purpose of his visit to the national secretariat of the APC on Monday.

The Turaki Adamawa, through a press statement by his media office in Abuja yesterday, noted that his visit to the party secretariat was not a response to summon by the leadership of the party as widely speculated.

The visit to the national secretariat of our great party was to rub minds with the party hierarchy, and it was of a routine kind as a chieftain of the party.

“I was neither summoned nor queried by the party on any issue as being speculated. Rather, my visit was at my own behest. “As a party chieftain, I owe it a duty to my party to appraise challenges within the structures of the party and also proffer suggestions on how to manage those challenges.

I urge you all to discountenance any malicious insinuations about my visit to the party secretariat,” the former vice president concluded.

Angry Buhari Orders PROBE of Minister Over Meeting With N'Delta Avenger

Angry Buhari Orders PROBE of Minister Over Meeting With N'Delta Avenger
Days after his acclaimed meeting with the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), Sports and Youth Development Minister, Mr. Solomon Dalung, appears to have run into trouble as President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the probe of circumstances surrounding the parley.

“Mr. President has ordered that the minister provides an answer as to whether or not he actually met with Avengers, and if truly he did, he wants to know from him who authorised the meeting,” a presidential aide told our correspondent.

This development came, as it emerged that one Jude Tabai, the son of a retired justice of the Supreme Court, facilitated Dalung’s trip to Oporoza.

But the minister did not disclose his identity to the host community during his visit as he introduced himself as the head of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working for development in the Niger Delta.

The duo of the minister and Jude went without any security escort, a local source said. On Monday, the Sports Minister claimed to have met with the leadership of the militant group as well as community leaders in Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom of Warri South West Local Government area of Delta State.

But the source, who spoke on the heels of the NDA’s and Oporoza community’s denial of any meeting with Dalung, disclosed that the president has directed the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Mohammed Monguno (rtd) to “get to the root of the meeting.

“The first question Mr. President raised on the report that the minister visited the leadership of the Avengers and Oporoza community was, who authorised the visit? The question became necessary because neither the NSA nor the petroleum minister or even the military task force was aware of the minister’s trip to the area.

”One thing again is the fact that anything could have happened. And again, it raises the question that if government now knows who the leaders of the Avengers are, then what next? “Mr. President is unhappy over this and he directed the NSA to get to the root of the said meeting because it became more embarrassing when both the Avengers and the community are denying that they met with the minister,” the source told New Telegraph.

A community leader from Oporoza, Mr. Ekilegha Elvis, said the only person who visited the community was the head of an NGO who came with Jude Tabai to meet a few youths. ”They said the man was an NGO man, he only met with some youths who were playing football, interacted with them and left without even seeing the traditional ruler,” he said. eanwhile, the Oporoza community has dissociated itself from the purported meeting between the sports minister and the community. The community, in a statement raised the alarm that the claim was an attempt to link Oporoza with the Avengers.

“Our attention has been drawn to a statement by the minister of youth and sports as contained in the newspapers, that he paid a visit to the traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oporoza town to have interactive session with members of the Niger Delta Avengers and community people.

“It is pertinent to state that, to the best of our knowledge, we the leadership of the community did not receive the minister of youth and sports, or any other government official in Oporoza town last week. We have stated in many fora and occasions that we do not know anything about the Niger Delta Avengers.

“Oporoza town or any other community in Gbaramatu Kingdom has nothing to do with the Avengers and their activities. We have, in time past, condemned the activities of the Avengers, therefore could not have anything to do with them in our community,” the statement, signed by Mr. Johnbull Demebi, said. The community added that the minister should know that he has been deceived by mischievous persons and perhaps must have been swindled.

The community stated that: “As peace loving and law abiding citizens of Nigeria, we make bold to say that we are very receptive people, and have received several top government functionaries in our community, Oporoza.

For the avoidance of doubt, the last government visitor to Oporoza community was the acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, and he was given a rousing welcome by the community, led by the chairman, Mr. Johnbull Demebi. And so, we doubt the claim of the Hon. Minister that he visited Oporoza community last week and had a meeting with members of Niger Delta Avengers and other community people.

“At this juncture, we wish to warn and advice government functionaries and Very Important Persons (VIPs) to be careful and mindful of persons they associate with, particularly with the intention of visiting our communities, as some persons are out there to make money from top government functionaries and bring the name of the community to disrepute.

“And so, whoever, wants to visit our communities should make proper arrangement with the leadership of such communities so as to avoid any mishap in the course of embarking on such journey.”

Dalung, who spoke to some journalists at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting of the southern senatorial zone of Plateau State in Shendam, said he took a two-hour journey on the sea to Oporoza in Gbaramatu Kingdom where he met with the leadership of the NDA who gave him a sealed hand-written letter to deliver to President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said: “On reaching the community after the two-hour journey on the high sea, I met with the members of the communities who told me that their dream was to be included in the Nigerian project, that the education facilities and other basic social amenities are almost nonexistent in the communities.

They also raised concern of incessant attacks by the Nigerian military. “As a youth minister, I know that the Avengers are mostly youths who have potential to be great citizens of this country,” he had said.

Dalung stated that after meeting with the communities, he was escorted by the Niger Delta ambassadors to the leadership of Avengers who gave him a hand-written letter specifying their demands which, he said, he was yet to present to the president. Although the minister said he did not unseal the letter, he said the Avengers had raised three important issues to him.

“The issues include the Niger Delta Maritime University, pipeline community policing, which, they said, government had denied them and the inability of government to continue with the amnesty programme established by former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua,” he had said.
