Mr. President, ...It's Sad Nigerians Celebrate At The mention Of Your Death; My Humble Advise, By John Aderogba

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI
In the last three days, over 10 people have called me to confirm if truly our President has died in the UK. They said they've been reading reports on the Internet that Buhari is dead, so they wanted to confirm it's authenticity.

Of course I told them that am 100% certain he's hale and hearty.

I have also been reading all sort of posts and messages on facebook, twitter and whatsapp about the news of the death of Mr President and I was shocked to see people already celebrating and jubilating. Some even went as far as making memes and posting obituaries...... and my heart was broken all through the night. As I laid on my bed, two questions kept ringing on my head and that is; Why would people wish or be happy that their President is dead? I know things are bad in the country, the hunger and poverty is alarming and widespread BUT is it so so bad that the only thing is to wish the President dead? I remember that the last time Nigerians celebrated the death of their leader was when Gen. Sani Abacha died. I was in Warri then and I saw people drinking to stupor and throwing parties. It was as if a heavy burden had been lifted off their heads.

I am confident the President will be back to the country on or before 6th February. My advise to him is to take a day (and demand to be left alone) to do a self appraisal of his stewardship to the Nigerian people from May 29, 2015 till date.

I will like the President to ask himself the following questions:

1. Have I been fair to the Nigerian people?
2. Have I delivered at least 40% on my campaign promises?
3. Have my actions or inactions further divided this country along religious and ethnic line?
4. Have my Ministers been living up to not just my expectations but majority of Nigerians? Are they even performing as expected?
5. If I happen not to seek for reelection in 2019, what will I be remembered for when I leave office?
6. Within these two years of my administration, have I left this country better than the way I met it?

If all these questions can be answered sincerely and necessary actions taken, I can bet that the next two years will be better and greater than what we are currently experiencing.

I believe in this country cos our future is filled with endless possibilities.
God bless President Buhari 🇳🇬

God bless the Nigerian people 🇳🇬

God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬

2019: Obasanjo 'Withdraws' Support For Buhari, Backs Igbo President

2019: Obasanjo 'Withdraws' Support For Buhari, Backs Igbo President
Apparently undermining a possible second term of the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, a former President Olusegun Obasanjo has backed the South-East to produce the country’s next president by 2019

Obasanjo explained his submission was his personal view and added that, the “problem of justice and marginalisation have been major source of conflicts between ethnic and regional divisions in the country.”

Obasanjo was instrumental to Buhari's emergency in 2015.

The former president made this known when the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ogun State chapter, organised a special New Year service at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta.

Obasanjo disclosed that it was part of his resolve for a just and fair country that made him to work for the emergence of a South-South president in 2009.

“But, irrespective of the thinking of the people ahead of 2019, I personally think that South-East should have a go at the Presidency, too.”

Back home, with regards to Ogun State, he, however, noted that, in the interest of justice and fairness, Ogun West senatorial district should be given the slot to produce the next governor of the state.

His words: “The same is happening here. If Ijebu and Egba have produced the governor, it is only fair and just to allow the Yewa or Ogun West to also produce governor. Or else, one day, they will also stand up and take up arms against this injustice against them. That is my personally position on this.”

On crisis in Southern Kaduna, Obasanjo cautioned Nigerians against commenting on what they do not really have detailed reports of. “This is largely responsible for the escalation of the situation.

“My findings so far show that everyone is talking from the position of strength. People are not talking from knowledge of what they know and this is not helping. We must be able to dump all our sentiments to overcome the challenges.

“Just like other cases of injustice around us, we need peace; it is only peace with justice that can solve all these crises. Genuine peace is what everyone is craving for and this can only come when there is justice,” he said.

The state chairman of CAN, Bishop Tunde-Akin Akinsanya, described Obasanjo as a special gift to Nigeria and the entire world considering his exploits and fatherly role.

He commended the former president for facilitating the building of the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja and added that his administration is also working on similar project in the state.

30 Police Ex-AIGs Sue President Buhari; You'll Be Shocked Why

Muhammadu Buhari
New Telegraph - About 30 senior police officers retired in 2016 yesterday dragged President Muhammadu Buhari, Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police before the National Industrial Court (NIC) sitting in Abuja over alleged illegal retirement.

Also cited, as co-defendants in the suit, are the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force. The officers, who were from the rank of Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of police, were retired at the instance of the IGP.

The plaintiffs, through their counsel, J.U Pius, are challenging their retirement on ground that the force was ‘influenced’ to retire them.

The plaintiffs are seeking the powers of the court to interpret certain parts of the constitution binding on the Police Service Commission (PSC) and its retirement processes.

They alleged that the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, while in an acting capacity, wrote to the presidency to retire 30 senior officers from the rank of Assistant Inspector- General of Police.

The officers, however, want the court to interpret certain laws in line with their retirement, which they claimed was influenced.

When the matter came up for mention yesterday, counsel to the plaintiffs told the court that all defendants in the suit were duly served notices on August 16, 2016, to appear in court, but failed to enter appearance. He, however, prayed the court for an adjourned date to hear the substantive matter.

The presiding judge, Justice Rakiya Hasstrup, after going through the records, discovered that only the first defendant, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was served notice.

The court later adjourned the case till February 22 for further mention, but, however, ordered that notices be duly served on all five defendants in the suit before the next adjourned date.

Idris had, on resumption in office, allegedly wrote the presidency through the Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, recommending retirement of senior police officers.

It was also reported then that he hinged the decision on the fact that he could not work with them because they were his seniors.

Some of the affected AIGs are Bala A. Hassan, Yahaya Garba Ardo, Irmiya F. Yarima, Danladi Y. Mshebwala, Tambari Y.Mohammed, Bala Magaji Nasarawa, Musa Abdulsalam, Adisa Bolanta, Mohammed J Gana, Umaru Abubakar Manko, Lawal Tanko and Olufemi A. Adenike. Also affected are Johnson A. Ogunsakin, Adenrele T. Shinaba, James O. Caulcric, Olufemi David Ogunbayode, Edgar T Nanakumo, Kalafite H. Adeyemi, Patrick D. Dokumor, Mbu Joseph Mbu and Sabo Ibrahim Ringim. The police stated that the matter is before the legal department.

“We have read it (suit) in the newspaper, and the IG has referred it to the Legal Department,” FPRO told New Telegraph last night.

Meanwhile, at least 4,000 policemen, who passed the 2015 Departmental Selection Board (DSB) screening, to move from the rank of Inspectors to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), are yet to get the promotion.

These policemen have appealed to the police hierarchy to review their case. In a letter addressed to the IGP, and Chairman of PSC, Sir Mike Okiro, the affected policemen said they have spent one year after passing the promotion examination, but are yet to be promoted.

The letter, signed by the spokesman for the group, Mr. Olaleye Aladesanmi, said that the 4,000 officers are part of the 9,000 that passed the exam, adding that the other 5,000 had since been promoted to their due ranks.

The letter reads in part: “Sir, we want to state categorically as follows: That over 13,000 inspectors attended the September 2015 board interview scheduled in different zones of the federation.

Reference to your publication in the police gazette and Force Order, that 9,000 plus passed the Departmental Selection Board (DSB).

That from January 2016 till date, 5,000 officers have been promoted to substantive rank of ASP, leaving about 4,000 Inspectors, who also passed the DSB interview behind.

“It was noticed that a lot of juniors between 2011 and 2014 have been promoted, leaving behind 2009 and 2010 Inspectors who are due.

“On assumption of office, our able IGP Ibrahim K. Idris set up a committee to look into the irregularities and lopsidedness in the last promotion exercise that stirred chaos and rancour amongst the force, termed promotion of discord by the former IGP Solomon Arase (rtd), dated July 17, 2016.

He promised to promote the affected officers. “We are yet to know or see the outcome of the committee. In all fairness, to ensure equity and boost morale of the said officers, we pray the IGP and PSC to promote the affected officers and back date same to January 1, 2016, with or without payment as justice delayed is justice denied.

We trust that there will be a tremendous experience of change under your watch and pray for the best police force Nigeria can have.”

Again, Norther Activist, Junaid BOMBS Buhari, Presidency; Reveals More Shocking Of The President's Health, Death Rumor

Junaid and Buhari
Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, yesterday once again slammed the federal government for allegedly lying about the health of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said Nigerians cannot afford to face another constitutional crisis as a result of the President’s ailing health.

The Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu had attacked Mohammed on Monday saying he was suffering from pathological cynicism.

According to Shehu, “Mohammed’s kind of critics is toxic to national progress because they are only primarily interested in destroying every positive effort and achievements of the government and we advise Nigerians to be wary of prejudiced and biased critics like Dr. Junaid Mohammed who are more interested in personal publicity than respecting facts and figures about their claims”.

But reacting to Sheu’s statement, Mohammed said the Presidential spokesperson should stop telling Nigerians lies about his health, just as he maintained that General Sanni Abacha remained one of the healthiest President Nigeria ever had.

His words, “I believe Shehu is under pressure which is why he attacked me.

“However, I believe strongly they need to stop lying to Nigerians about Mr President’s health. Can they actually tell Nigerians what this medical leave or routine check-up is? They don’t seem to be telling us the truth.

“If I am to comment on issues that concern Nigerians, I won’t shy away from telling President Buhari the home truth anywhere he is making mistakes. I criticized General Abacha as Head of State and told him some truths in private and sometimes face to face. I believe if people can challenge their friends in power, it shows they are not intimidated by the powerful”.

“If Aisha Buhari can say what she said about her husband, I think the President needs to check himself and retrace his steps on some issues that concern the country. I think the question the President needs to ask himself is that after one he has taken over the reigns of power, what has changed? Is Nigeria better off than when he took over on May 29, 2015? The truth is that Nigeria is worse off today than when Buhari took over the reigns of power.

“Every Nigerian today is worse off and nothing seems to be working under this government. Some who are rich in 2015 cannot say same today due to the economic woes that Nigeria is presently experiencing and we cannot continue to close our eyes off it”.

He further explained that, “This administration has failed in taming the economic woes that seems to have turned everyone poor in present day Nigeria. Even though the administration made some giant strides in the fight against Boko Haram, the country is still not safe as people still live in fears even in Kano today. And there are also political crises in the party where President won his own election. So the President seems to be at war with everyone including the National Assembly members.

“I believe President Buhari should engage in turning around the fortunes of Nigeria economically, politically and security wise. By now, his administration should have stopped blaming the Jonathan government for their woes. I believe that in Politics, you take assets and liabilities”.

Photo Of 'Dead' Buhari Watching Aide On ChannelsTV Interview From UK Holiday
Wickedly rumoured to have died, the presidency has released pictures of President Muhammadu Buhari holidaying in the United Kingdom.

The latest pictures have further laid to rest the media reports that the president was dead.

There was palpable fear and confusion in the country during the weekend when report cropped up in a section of the media that the president has passed on at the age of 74.

However, the presidency while describing the report as unfounded, said Buhari was alive and enjoying his holiday.

To further confirm the report that the president was not dead, presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina on Monday morning released some pictures of the President watching him (Adesina) as a guest on Channels TV on Sunday.

In the pictures, Buhari was spotted donning a black kaftan and a black cap in a palour while watching Adesina on Channels Television.

He wrote on his official Facebook page, “As he holidays in London, President Muhammadu Buhari keeps abreast with events at home. On Sunday, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, was guest of Channels Television. President Buhari also kept a date, January 22, 2017.”

Who Wish Buhari Dead, By Goke Butika

Muhammadu Buhari
Limited scope of experience compels one to deny the existence of a hunchback laden squirrel, if one travels wide, the possibility of seeing a fish with human gogle is obtainable.

In the cause of my professional career I had long held a desire to know how the tradition of transition of power from one President of the United States of America to the another is conducted without using the search engine or learn through books or movie, having been familiar with the British parliamentary tradition. The opportunity presented itself on January 20th 2017 while President Donald John Trump took oath of office. I saw it, I knew and I learnt from it- live and direct. Mission accomplished!

As beautiful as the inauguration was at the capitol hill, as radical as the speech of trump was, and as colourful as the whole scenario appeared, my pick from the entire scenario is that each man, each leader and each nation is designed for a purpose; while the people of US, leaders and the nation are designed to work for their country irrespective of their position on issues, some other countries have no known tradition to point to, particularly in Africa, because Philosophers are no longer kings in power in most of the developing countries.

Make no mistake, I was not in Washington because I love Trump, I only seized the advantage of being on the soil to understudy the power transition in the country. Besides, a good journalist must have hunger for the “why” of the story.  As I was ruminating on which angle to take for the story, the theatre of absurdity in Gambia provided a rough interlude, for the erstwhile ruler, Yahaya Jameh of that tiny country gave the world another piece of African animalistic behavior.

However, the second day of Trump America, the world was reminded what the nation stands for, as women from states sympathetic to the ruling party and strongholds of the opposition party rose and seized cities through what they tagged “Women March” in order to pass anti-bigotry message to the new American President. I saw-live and direct- how two narratives could compete with one another within two days in the same country.

While the drama of ideas was unfolding in episodes, I quickly retooled in Houston, only to read that Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari who was holidaying in United kingdom was dead in German hospital, but I dismissed the report which has no source as the wish list of the people who wanted the man dead, even before he assumed presidency at all. Interestingly, it turned out to be like that. Then the question that came to my mind is, why would some people want their leaders dead? And the answers trickled in:

In the first premise, it is a statement of fact that politics in Nigeria is seen as a business, while the politicking is seen as the biggest investment. Most of the politicians are staking their money, not because they love the people or they desire to serve, but because their interest is to loot. In that wise, it is possible to have some people who staked their money and energy on Buhari’s ambition to wish him dead, because the Daura born Military General turned politician appears to be tightening the noose around the public coffer, and making stealing of public funds difficult. And it could be the handiwork of  uncouth opposition that has just elevated the “cowboy” governor of Ekiti state, whose desire to see Buhari dead knows no bound, to the position of the PDP governors forum.

In another breathe, the opposition leaders in the country appear helpless, because it is still a difficult phase for them to penetrate the North where Buhari has a cult following of the talakawas, and without the massive support of the North, no one could become a President in Nigeria, the last election has proved it substantially.

Either of the two propositions above, the undisputed fact is that the political tradition in Nigeria is either lost or corrosive. For crying out loud, how could some people wish their leaders dead when such leaders could be chased out in another election? And another election in Nigeria is 2019. Some Americans are disgruntled with their President and they went to work, delivering the result the following day of inauguration. That is how democracy should be work.

I am of opinion that Nigerians should learn the rope from some countries that are getting it right, by watching and critiquing their leaders on every issue, and design a political chain to carry people along, not wishing the President dead. The concept of soul is so rigid in its design that its destruction should be reserved for the worst form of the mankind, and certainly Buhari may have fallen into some political and economic missteps, but events have shown he has a pious heart, and the death wish is uncalled for. So, let the people with heart of service regroup, let them come up with people centred ideology, and let them go to work on the credible way out of the economic quagmire in which the country is dealing with, not a diabolical death wish for the President.

Butika writes from Washington DC, USA.

Buhari's Death Report: Presidency Reacts

Buhari death report
There was consternation in several quarters in Abuja and beyond over the weekend as rumours circulated that President Muhammadu Buhari had passed on at a London hospital where he was said to be receiving treatment.

As the day wore on, the rumours gained ground after a news website published a story that the President was dead. The rumour soon spread like wild fire in different parts of the country with many Nigerians making frantic phone calls to ascertain the story’s accuracy.

The presidency however said on Saturday that there was no truth in the news.

Buhari had on Thursday travelled to London, United Kingdom, after writing to the National Assembly that he would be proceeding on a vacation and that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo would be performing the duties of the President while he was away.

“The report is hogwash,” the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, simply said when our correspondent contacted him.

Adesina also denied the report on his Twitter handle, praying for those behind it to repent.

“Best wishes to all who wish PMB well. As for those who carry evil rumours, may they receive grace to repent,” he said.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, also took to his Twitter handle to deny the report.

Shehu wrote, “He is alive and well. President Buhari is not magical. He cannot be holidaying in the UK and be in Germany, dead or alive at the same time.

“He is unlike a past president, who was at Ota with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and attending the Trump inauguration in DC, being in two places at the same time.”

Shortly after the rumor began to spread on Saturday, our correspondent observed that    the President’s family members were unperturbed in Aso Rock.

A member of the House of Representatives, Mr. Saidu Sani-Fago, who represents Daura/Mai’Adua/Sandamu Federal Constituency of Katsina State also dismissed worries over Buhari’s health status, saying that the President was fit.”

The lawmaker spoke further, “Mr. President is fit and sound. He is taking a 10-day vacation and he wants to seize the opportunity to see his doctors.

“This is normal. He did it last year.”

Similarly, pan-northern socio-political organisation, the Arewa Consultative Forum, said President Buhari is a mortal like every other Nigerian and liable to fall ill.

According to the National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Muhammadu Ibrahim, there  is nothing wrong if the President falls ill.

The ACF spokesman said, “President Muhammadu Buhari is human. He has taken his annual leave and travelled to the United Kingdom for medical check up. ACF wishes him well. ACF calls on Nigerians to support the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.”

In the same vein, the Muslim Rights Concern has advised Nigerians not to panic. Responding to an inquiry by SUNDAY PUNCH, the MURIC Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, stated it was natural to feel concerned about the President’s health.

“But that is nothing to worry about. Many at his age cannot even walk properly, speak clearly or see very well. Every man’s life is in the hands of Allah, including those of presidents, governors, ministers and ordinary citizens. Allah knows those who will die soon and those who will live long.”

“So, how do we know when it is someone’s turn? Only Allah knows that. People are expressing fear about the President’s health because they have little faith. They know very little about the ways of Almighty Allah,” he said.

Akintola, who pointed out that sudden death among the young and healthy in the country was common, said, “Don’t we have Nigerians who have been sick for the past 40 years but are still alive and working? It is about management and one’s turn. It is about faith. Let’s stop the pessimism. Healthy people drop dead without explanations while people who are sick keep hanging on although we are expecting the worst.”

According to him, Buhari can only die at his apportioned time.

“He won’t live one minute longer than Allah gave him. But, mind you, neither will he die one minute earlier. No matter how many death wishes and death wish advertisements,” the Muslim scholar said.

He noted further that the President had lived a fulfilled life.

Trump's Inauguration: Why Buhari Actually Not Invited - Presidency Refuses To Keep Quiet At PDP, Fayose's Rantings

Buhari Trump
Apparently, in reaction to Deji Adeyanju, a Peoples Democratic Party's social media campaigner on the purported invitation of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan to the inauguration of  Donald Trump, the new American President, the Presidency has dismissed insinuations that President Muhammadu Buhari was snubbed by the President-Elect of the United States, by not inviting him to his inauguration today but invited former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu stated the position of the Presidency last night. Reacting through his twitter handle, Shehu said that the United States does not invite world leaders to the inauguration of its presidents hence Nigeria’s president could not have been snubbed.

Shehu Garba tweeted @GarShehu Thus:

News Punch had earlier published that the Trump transition committee, Great Again, has denied reports in some sections of the media in Nigeria that President-elect Trump declined invitation to President Muhammadu Buhari and has instead invited former president Goodluck Jonathan to the U.S 45th presidential inauguration scheduled for Friday in Washington.

READ FULL GIST HERE:  TRUMP'S INAUGURATION: Jonathan's Name MISSING As Trump Team Denies His Invitation; See List Of Invitees

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has described the non-extension of invitation to President Muhammadu Buhari to attend United States of America President-Elect, Donald Trump’s inauguration as a clear signal that Buhari does not enjoy international relevance any more.

The governor, who said the 10 days vacation announced by the president could be to cover up the embarrassment, after all efforts to secure invitation to the inauguration failed, added that the development was a very clear signal that Buhari’s government will not enjoy tangible support from the new US government, adding that.
