Fraudsters Takeover FG's N-Power Job Scheme, Sells Form To Victims

N-Power
Fraudsters have been selling N-power forms under the Federal Government youth empowerment initiative and defrauding unsuspecting applicants in Adamawa State.

Findings by Northern City News in Yola indicated that the fraud started after the government announced the commencement of payment to beneficiaries of the programme.

It was learnt that the fraudsters were selling fake N-power forms and demanding money from their victims, promising to make them beneficiaries of the scheme.

The Special Assistant to the Adamawa State Governor on FG Social Investment Programme, Usman Bodes, confirmed the development, but added that it was not peculiar to the state.

According to him, the sale of fake SIP forms by fraudsters cut across several states based on report reaching him, adding that the form could only be filled online.

He said, “The Federal Government decided that this time around, it is not going to be business as usual and this is why people have to apply online.

“But to our surprise, not only in Adamawa State, in fact in our forum when I was going through our correspondences, I also found out that so many states are having the same experience of some forms being printed and circulated in mosques and churches.

“Those behind the fraud, we learnt, are also soliciting for money to assist these unsuspecting victims and promising to make beneficiaries.”

Bodes called on the public to beware of the fraudsters, pointing out that the portal for registration for the N-power programme was currently closed. He said it would soon be re-opened to allow for additional applications.

N-Power : Group Accuses C'River Govt of Fraud, Wants Coordinator Sacked

N-Power : Group Accuses C'River Govt of Fraud, Wants Coordinator Sacked

Written By Inyali Peter, Calabar

An All Progressive Congress (APC) Group in Cross River state have petitioned the state government and the coordinator of the Federal Government N-Power scheme in the state Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo over alleged fraud.

The group, under the aegis of Coalition of APC supports Group in the state addressed the petition to the national coordinator of the program and the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osibanjo.

In the petition titled "Massive Fraud in the Verification of Shortlisted Candidates for  N-Power Scheme in Cross River" and signed by the group chairman Comrade Iso Bassey, the Secretary Barr. Joseph Odok and the women leader, Miram Obi, they demand the immediate sack of the state coordinator, Ambassador Toyo.

According to the petition which was made available to newsmen in Calabar, the group frowned at the lack of awareness on the venue and process of the verification exercise even as they questioned the right of the state government to create a new website for the exercise.

"We want to draw the attention of the Vice President and the National Coordinator of the N-Power scheme to the illegality and massive fraud going on in the verification exercise of the shortlisted candidates in Cross River State.

"We are aware that the federal government concluded the screening exercise of candidates before shortlisting the successful names. The instruction from the Vice President was very clear and simple; that every state should verify to ascertain that the shortlisted candidates are resident in the various states they applied for after which they deploy.

"But to our greatest bewilderment, the state government and state coordinator Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo have connived to create new website, www.crs-n-power.gov to conduct new screening for people. Some people who's name were published by the federal government were no longer invited for verification", the petition reads in part.

The group further maintained that "While we acknowledge the fact that the social welfare scheme is meant for all Nigerians not just APC members, we want the federal government to sack the Cross River state coordinator to appoint a new person either from APC, PDP or a technocrat that beliefs in the progressive ideologies of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration to manage the exercise".

While alleging that Ambassador Toyo only want to mess up the good initiative to create bad impression about President Buhari to favour her party, the PDP, the group noted that "It is very unfortunate that the federal government entrusted such sensitive responsibility to a PDP chieftain who has consistently gone on social media and different online media platforms to abuse President Buhari for initiating this scheme and other programs.

"This is somebody who has stated it very clearly that she doesn't have faith in the leadership of the APC led federal government. She is using the APC federal government project now to create bad impression about President Buhari because so many people have already been told that they don't have their records after they have seen their names. New people who never participated in the initial screening by federal government have done documentation to be paid this month".

The group also called on the leadership of party in the state to regularly interface with the federal government to avoid such " embarrassing " situation in subsequent programs.

"We will not remain slaves to PDP in Cross River state. APC cannot be in government with PDP in power because our ideologies are different therefore, the federal government should consult and interface regularly with the leadership of the party in the state to be properly guided to avoid further embarrassment".

Should We Still Hope For The Change? By Adedayo Osho
They were hoping for a better life. Thinking their life will never be the same under a Change canopy. We made them realise the Cowboy government had raped them in public. The treasury and our commonwealth has been mismanaged. No external forces can rescue this country from the brink of collapse except you and I. The philosophy or wrong belief that Nigeria can never be great again is an understatement. Ejo, e dibo fun Buhari l'ojo Saturday {please vote for Buhari come Saturday}.

What's on your mind about my campaign for Buhari? share with me and I will convey to necessary channels, I ask one woman surrounded by her children, all of them looking unkempt in front of their house at Jankara, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos. Are new governments any better than their previous in Nigeria? she replied, then I lowered to explain certain ways by which a specific government could deviate from the shady ways of the past and operate with transparency. Fast turning to reality 15-month into the Change tenure that it seem all hope is lost.

We gave electorates cogent reasons to vote, only for a man of integrity, Muhammadu Buhari, avoiding any mention of the party, APC, since many were aware of antecedents of those who aligned to form it. The same man we propagated is now being excoriated. Take it or leave it, public opinion is not favourable to the Daura Lord, unlike what was obtainable in August 2015, a year ago and after 4-month he seized power from the hand of the Ijaw Hero.

But the deed has been done. And now, our improvised masses, it seem, they need swift Godly intervention to survive. Come 2019, campaign manifesto and themes will shift from headings like Change, Hope, Restoration, to Miracle, Wonders or Magic. So it is thought-provoking to ask when: when will this politicians' deception end in Nigeria?

By December, many of us political analysts would have given up on this government. Knowing full 2019 general election will be conducted in Q1 {first quarter of the year}, the race to retain or seize power begins maximum two years before expiration of any tenure. No serious politician prepare late for forthcoming elections.

Why must the economy be this bad? Is it that the likes of living phenomenal such as former Presidential aspirant, Pat Utomi, is out of reach, or my respected economists, Tope Fasua, Herbert Wigwe, Dimeji Bankole, Alex Otti, Seyi Odetola, Ibrahim Dankwambo, Tony Elumelu and Umar Mutallab will spurn invitation of national service?

Look, at that time Mexico's economy faced quagmire in the late 80s up to early 90s, what saved Mexicans back home was 'Remittance' from abroad. Relatives, majority working in USA keep sending dollars to save their starving families. You see your yeye policy now? It is a total anti-balanced-diet policy for CBN to allow only Moneygram, Ria and Western Union to operate foreign money transfer.

Tell us your problems and our erudite will salvage you. No, don't tell us. Many of us are already aware the Buhari presidency is inexperienced to administer the economy. But you fail to realise that economic stability is the foundation of political and social stability. Is there any harbinger that Change will be achieved anytime before 2019?

After all your wards have been appointed, secretly, in juicy institutions, the lot of N-Power boys and girls, the primary school pupils you promised free meal are waiting for their peanut share of the Change.
