RIVERS RERUN: Gov. Wike Allegedly Declares Self President of Niger Delta Republic, Says Buhari Is a Co-President

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has allegedly professed self as the President of the Niger Delta Republic, a report according to Linknaija suggests

LinkNaija in the report said, ahead of the December 10 rerun elections in Rivers state, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has reported that the state governor, Nyesom Wike, once identified himself before chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as “the President of the new Niger Delta Republic”, purportedly calling President Muhammadu Buhari his fellow President. 

This claim was contained in a statement signed on Monday by the Chairman of Rivers APC, Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, which declared that the governor needs to go and see a psychiatrist, as his recent behavior and utterances “do not present him as a person who is still in full control of his mental faculties”.

Citing instances of such utterances, Ikanya said, “Recently at the Rivers state Government House, Wike muttered to PDP Chieftains, 

"Apart from the fact that Development creates crime and that since I resumed office as Governor of Rivers state, people are being killed and beheaded in Rivers state and pictures of those killed in the state were littered in social media, too much insecurity in Rivers state.
"I will only try my little best to handle it but as the President of the new Niger Delta Republic, how can my fellow President, President Buhari of Nigeria withdrew my security and assigned them to Hon Asita O. Asita, a small boy."
"Besides, People should understand that in Rivers State, we have the capacity to resist the security agencies of Nigeria."
"To worsen our case, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has assigned all the Police SARs in the South-South (SS) to Senator Magnus Abe and those of South East (SE) region to ‘Senators’ Andrew Uchendu and Amachree’.” 

The statement added, “To further expose Wike’s unstable mind and thought as Nigerian Master Electoral Rigger and how he rigged himself to power, let us listen to him, 

“How can APC topple me as master electoral rigger? Na me bi their Oga (for rigging). I no give them this kind thing. Na me bi their oga. I no teach them this kind thing. Na who dey teach them all this kind thing? "

The Rivers APC chairman went on to state that “everyday this man who is not fit to be a governor makes Rivers State a laughing stock before the country and the international community. He should be made to get help before it is too late.”

We'll Declare Niger Delta Republic Come October 1st - Avengers Renews Threat

The insurgent group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), has resuscitated the threat of a creating a Niger Delta republic from Nigeria, should the federal government fail to consider calls for restructuring of the federation.

In a statement dispatched electronically to the media Thursday by its spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo, the group suggested an October 1 ultimatum, hinging its reason for the threat on an alleged division of the country by the administrations ‘misdirected policies’.

The statement said the nation’s situation had become so precarious that nobody, not even the Niger Delta people, wish to continue to be part of the Nigerian system.

“Our prayer for Buhari and the Northern hypocrite (Northern Governors) is that oil should be found in commercial quantity in the North, so they can let the Niger Delta go.

“The Buhari Led government has fail Nigerians with their misdirected policies that has divide the country, as such nobody wants to be part of that failed state not even the Niger Delta.

“The October 1st, declaration of independence is still sacrosanct. If the Nigeria government fails to retrace its step by restructuring this country.We want to warn the general public that those using NDA to defraud people days of reckoning is close,” the statement said.

War Looms As Militants Declare N'Delta Republic Aug. 1st", Issues Quit Notice To Northerners, Yorubas

Despite the Federal Government claims that there is dialogue ongoing with the militants in the Niger Delta zone, a militant group, the Adaka Boro Avengers (ABA) have vowed that it will declare the Niger Delta Republic come August 1, boasting nothing would stop them from the declaration.

The militants in a statement, yester­day, signed by General Ed­mos Ayayeibo, the group said it has concluded ar­rangements to make the Niger Delta Republic a reality even as it ordered its people to return home and told northerners and westerners to leave the Ni­ger Delta and eastern states immediately, Daily Sun reports

It also issued a quit no­tice to the military and all agencies belonging to the Federal Government to evacuate the Niger Del­ta states and the eastern parts without delay. Fail­ure to obey the order, it said, would lead to a total destruction of military per­sonnel and agencies.

The statement read: “We, the Adaka Boro Avengers and all the free­dom fighters in the Niger Delta region have met and come to a conclusion that we are declaring the Niger Delta Republic three weeks from today.

“So we are by this notice calling on the Nigerian government to move out all military personnel and all government agencies out of the Niger Delta. Fail­ure will lead to destruction of military barracks and personnel.

“We are, also, by this no­tice calling on our fathers, mothers, brothers and sis­ters living in the northern parts of Nigeria to return home immediately.

“We are also warning northerners and western­ers to leave the Niger Delta region immediately within three weeks from now, for their own good.

“If they refuse to heed to our warning, we will use so many as example in the Niger Delta region on the due date.

“We are telling the Ni­gerian government that enough is enough and we are taking our indepen­dence by force. We have our foreign backers, so we are not afraid of the Nige­rian government but ready for total war.

“The inhuman treatment given to us by Nigerian government is enough. We can no longer withstand the suffering of our Niger Delta people. They should not take us for fools.”

Niger Delta Avenger (NDA) claimed respon­sibility for blowing up of many oil and gas operations of major oil companies in the Niger Delta region said its goal of destruction of oil and gas infrastructure was to actualise the soverign state of Niger Delta.

According to the group’s spokesman Col. Mudoch Agbinibo, the NDA had spread across the Niger Delta to launch its currency, passport, rul­ing council, territory and flag.

“By October 2016, we will display our currenty, flag, passport our ruling council and our territory to the world,” NDA said.
