The Nigeria Football Supporters Club has made a clarion call to the Federal government to warn the President of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, to steer clear of its internal affairs.

In a chat with the press, the Public Relations Officer of the NFSC, Afeez Balogun, accused Pinnick of interfering in issues concerning the club.

"For sometime now, Amaju Pinnick, has been involved in a subtle manner to help the dismissed former acting national chairman of the Supporters Club, Vincent Okumagba, to forment trouble and destabilise this club, "Balogun said.

He continued ;" Let me inform Amaju Pinnick and his co-travellers that this club is well over 61 years old and it is also a duly registered and globally recognised non-governmental organisation. Therefore, we are independent and not under the controls of NFF, " he stated.

He went on to admonish the federal government, the sports ministry and members of the NFF to call Amaju to order. Adding that he should concentrate on how to make Nigerian football better.

" Let Amaju face the issues concerning Nigerian football. We recall the unfortunate case between Amaju and Giwa, which bothers on the issue of legality. Therefore, I want to advise him to stop speaking from both sides of the mouth and not give credence to the illegal actions of Okumagba, " he urged.

Conclusively, he reaffirmed the commitment of the club to the development of Nigerian football. As it continue to work in tandem with the NFF, in view of its renowned position as the 12th player of the national teams.

The Nigeria Football Supporters Club have been ordered by a High Court sitting in Lagos to hold its elections for various positions in the club. The court last week Monday delivered a consensus judgement ordering the elections to be held within 60 days of its ruling.

This much was revealed during the Special AGM of the NFSC, held Friday evening at the club's headquaters in Lagos. The meeting which was presided by the President-General of the club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, and with virtually all the executive members of its various state chapters from across the country in attendance, quickly swung into action with the setting up of a 13 man electoral committee to map out plans for the elections.

The AGM also made the decision to commute the impeachment of its former acting national chairman, Vincent Okumagba, to a dismissal from the club. Along side some other members of his group.

It would be recalled that the NFSC in recent times have been embroiled in internal crisis, including the court case that eventually came to a close after a four years battle, amongst many others.

In his speech, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo enjoined members of the club to remain loyal, committed and steadfast in the cause of the club. Adding that the forthcoming elections, would help to chart a new path for the club.

"This is the beginning of a new dawn for the club. And l want to implore all members to remain focused and committed to the ideals of the club, which include selfless service and support for Nigerian football at all times, "Ladipo stated.

" This case of forgery, smirks of how fraudulent and desperate these people have become. On our part, we remain totally committed to ensuring that the image and interest of the club and particularly, the country, is well represented and protected at all times, "he added.

He further assured that the admirable integrity and legacies of the club built over several decades by its founding fathers would be tenaciously protected in the interest of the country and generation unborn.

Therefore, we would advise that the NFF and the Minister of Sports stay away from interfering in the internal activities of the club. We're Nigeria's 12th Player - Ikpea

We're Nigeria's 12th Player - Ikpea

The Nigeria Football Supporters Club, has reiterated its importance to Nigerian football and its successes in the game.

Rev. Sam lkpea, Secretary - General of the NFSC, made this remark during an exclusive interview held in his office. According to the vastly experienced scribe, members of the supporters club often go spiritual before and during matches played by the country's national teams.

"You won't believe what most of us go through whenever the Super Eagles or any other of the country's national team are up against any opposition both home and abroad, "Ikpea said.

" For the sake of our national teams, we often go on compulsory fasting and prayers in order to ensure our teams are victorious, "he added.

He recalled also how members of the NFSC would go through harrowing experiences in the hands of overzealous security personnel and fans in foreign countries.

" We have experienced some very bad and dangerous moments in the course of going out to support our fatherland.

"These unfortunate experiences are too many to recollect, "he continued with a dour glint in his eyes."

" I remember how we were made to suffer in terrible cold outside the stadium in Tunisia, when Enyimba won the CAF Champions League. We were of course, undaunted and remained resolute in our mission. Thank God, because we triumphed and the pain and sufferings weren't for nothing, " he added with smiles.

The high ratings enjoyed by the NFSC globally, Ikpea stated is a result of the tireless and inspirational leadership of Dr.Rafiu Ladipo, the President-General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club worldwide.

" The successes and achievements recorded by Nigerian football and of course, the NFSC have enjoyed immense contributions by Dr.Ladipo, "Ikpea stated emphatically.

" l can vividly remember how far he had gone in ensuring that we keep moving on in spite of serious challenges to our finances and personal lives, all because of the love and passion for football," he quipped ruefully.

The businessman cum sports philantropist went ahead to berate the government for not recognising genuine and patriotic Nigerians who have contributed meaningfully to the socio-economic growth of the country.

"lt is a shame that a prominent Nigerian in the person of Dr.Rafiu Ladipo, is yet to be officially recognised and given a national award by the past and present government in this country.

"This is a man who has tiredlessly ensured that Nigeria football is known and supported all over the world, while spending his money, energy and time for the sake of his fatherland, "he lamented.

On the infectious and ceaseless dancing and singing that has become synonymous with the supporters club, he remarked gleefully that it is sometimes a spontaneous reaction to unfolding events on the field of play.
" Let me tell you, some of those songs are spontaneous and you could say spiritual, too.

"For instance, when we start singing.. 'He is a miracle working God.. He is the Alpha and Omega..', you would know something important is about to happen. And God has never failed us when we come up with that song, "he explained with broad smiles on his face.

Conclusively, he disclosed that the NFSC are working seriously to ensure that Nigerian teams and infact the whole contigent representing the country at the forthcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games, are well supported.

By Akeem Busari.

The Nigeria Football Supporters Club have made a strong appeal to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalong, to include the club in the newly constituted committee set up to look into the unending crisis rocking the Nigeria Football Federation.

The Secretary - General of the NFSC, Rev. Sam lkpea, made this passionate appeal during an exclusive interview in his office. He stated that the committee set up by the minister is incomplete because the major stake holders, particularly, the supporters club are not represented on the committee.

"We (supporters club) feel short changed because the minister and the football authorities have consistently over looked us, particularly, when it comes to taking important decisions on the state of Nigerian football, "Ikpea lamented.

He continued:" We are genuine stakeholders in the fortunes of Nigerian football. It is a fact that some of us have have consistently been following and supporting Nigerian football for more than four decades and of course, expending time, energy and resources in the cause.

"As a matter of fact, we have top class, experienced and well educated members in the NFSC, who can serve on such and other bodies meritoriously," the amiable scribe of the NFSC said.
