Foreign Vandals Caught Vandalizing NNPC Pipelines In Badagry, Lagos
Some foreign NNPC Pipelines vandals from neighbouring Benin Republic were on Sunday arrested by the men of Nigeria Security and Civil Denfense Corps, NSCDC at Gberefu Island in Badagry Local Government area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.
About 53 drums amounting to over 13,250 litres of diesel, a pumping machine and two speedboats have been recovered from six Beninoise by the NSCDC on Sunday.
The suspects were arrested for siphoning fuel from vandalised pipelines of the NNPC.
The NSCDC Commandant in Lagos, Tajudeen Balogun said the suspects will be charged once investigations are concluded.
In his words, "the arrest we made in Badagry was done on the sea around #Gberefu Island. The six suspects were Beninoise and wanted to cross the border to the Republic of Benin. 53 drums of petrol with 250 litres in each drum were recovered from them.
We also seized 2 speedboats and a pumping machine from them. They were suspected to have siphoned the fuel from vandalized NNPC pipelines."
The suspects are identified are: Suru Hunpevi, 30; Messel Hunjo, 22; Emmanuel Somoten, 18; Joseph Gbehan, 21; and Jonas Gbenonu, 29.
