The victory of Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN in the just concluded governorship election in Ondo state has reaffirmed the rejection of the People's Democratic Party, PDP by Nigerians according to Mr. Odey Ochicha, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Ochicha, a governorship candidate of the APC in the last election in Cross River state said this in his congratulatory message sent to Akeredolu, Ondo Governor-Elect.

Ochicha also congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Oyegun and other members of the party for the victory, saying that the Ondo people have made the right choice by electing a "progressive mind".

According to him, "I want to congratulate Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN Ondo Governor-elect for his victory. I wish him a very successful tenure and the wisdom to deliver good governance to the people of Ondo state.

"The Ondo election is a reaffirmation of Nigerians strong rejection of the darks days of the PDP. Despite the current challenges facing the country, Nigerians have used the Edo and Ondo elections to demonstrate their unreserved support, love and faith in the APC led federal government".

Ochicha called on aggrieved party members to sheath their sword stressing that "Politics cannot be separated from interest but now that election has come and gone, all aggrieved members of the APC should come together to build a better and peaceful country".

"We should all burry our individual interests for national interests to strive. President Buhari cannot deliver on his campaign promises without the support of the key stakeholders who worked assiduously to set up this government", he added.

Ochicha Congratulates New CJN, Says PMB Has Shamed His Critics.
Cross River State Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC in the last governorship election, Mr. Odey Ochicha has congratulated Justice Walter Nkanu Onnoghen who has just been sworn-in by President Muhammadu Buhari as the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN.

In a statement issued in Calabar, Ochica aplauded President Buhari for the appointment noting that the President has shamed his critics and prophets of doom who have constantly accused the APC led federal government of lopsided appointments.

Ochicha said the appointment of Justice Onnoghen has clearly showed that the President appreciate integrity, discipline and hard work.

Describing Onnoghen as a man with the potentials and credentials to sanitize the judiciary, Ochicha charged the new CJN to always uphold the virtues that have helped him grow to the top position in the Judiciary.

According to him, "I want to congratulate my brother, Justice Walter Nkanu Onnoghen for his appointment as the Acting CJN. I pray that the Senate will speedily confirm his nomination considering how critical his position is to the development of our democracy in Nigeria.

"Also, I want to thank President Muhammadu Buhari for this appointment because he has shamed his critics and detractors who have consistently accused the President of nepotism each time he makes appointments.

During the raid of homes of some judges accused of corruption, I read some funny statements from some governors that the President was trying to manoeuvre against appointing the first southerner in many years as CJN. Let all the prophets of doom hide their faces in shame now that it has happened.

"I want to encourage the CNJ to continue to uphold the virtues that endeared him to be trusted with such huge responsibility at this critical time of Nigeria's democracy".

The APC chieftain further tasked Justice Onnoghen to support the federal government fight to rid the judiciary of corrupt judges and corruption in other places in the country.

"When you go through the profile of Justice Onnoghen, you will appreciate the fact that he is one of the few persons in the judiciary today who have the credentials and wherewithal to put an end to the commercialization of justice in Nigeria. This is when to show those great potentials and I charge him to completely support the government's effort to sanitize the judiciary".

Ochicha further noted that, "President Buhari has showed so much confidence in Cross Riverians in terms of appointments like no other President in the history of this country. So I want to beg our people especially those who are still allowing themselves to be used by the reactionary leaders against the President to retract their steps and support this government to succeed as his success is the success of all the Nigerian people".

Ochicha Condemns Police Detention of Man with 'I Need a Job' Placard
A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC and governorship candidate of the party in the 2015 general election in Cross River State Mr. Odey Ochicha has condemned in strong terms the arrest and detention of a young graduate, Mr. Charles Ewa for carrying 'I Need a Job' placard.

Ochicha who was responding to the news of the arrest of Ewa for showing Governor Ben Ayade placard with the inscription 'I Need a Job' warned the governor against unnecessary show of force, abuse of power,  harassment  and intimidation of innocent Cross Riverians.

The APC stalwart pointed out that it was unreasonable for the government to use police to torment an innocent citizen who was already frustrated by the inability of the government to provide him with a job.

He called on the Inspector General of Police to urgently set up a panel of inquiry to look into the issue and punish the police officers who have allowed themselves to be used as agent of vendetta by politicians.

According to him, "I received the arrest of a certain Charles Ewa with great shock. The action of the governor to have ordered his arrest is reckless and tyrannical in a democratic setting that we need to condemn in totally.

"I have always supported Martin Luther's advocacy that "The best way to respect a stupid order is to disobey it". This is exactly what the police who arrested and have been detaining this man for the past three days without trial would have
done.

"I called on the Commissioner of Police to unconditionally order the release of that innocent boy. The Inspector of General of Police should urgently set up a panel of inquiry to investigate the case and bring the erring officers who have become partisan to book".

He maintained that the detained youth has not committed any crime against the law of the land to have warranted such assault from a government that should protect the life and rights of citizens.

"Just few months ago we all saw how the number two man in the country, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo invited a lady with 'I Need a Job' placard to the villa for discussion. What is the offence he has committed to try to draw the attention of his governor to his predicament?

"This is unprofessional in the part of the police and has shown that the Nigeria Police Force, Cross River state command is yet to know the ethics of the force. It is not only gibberish, but senseless to accuse an unemployed graduate who is obviously seeking the attention of government for attempted assassination like I was told the police said".
