I love my people than myself, family – Oluwo

I love my people than myself, family – Oluwo

Oluwo of Iwoland, HRM Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I has described Iwo as a virile city of great impact, saying he loves the people of the community more than himself. The monarch disclosed his loyalty to Iwo and Nigeria in general as incontestable, pointing his service to his people has cost him to leave his new baby and family in Canada for long.

The statement was contained in a press release by his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem following the conversation with the monarch over the weekend.

Oluwo said he ought to have visited his family in Canada and facilitate external investors but was halted because of his dare need to put smile in his immediate peoples` faces through his service to humanity. He disclosed the situation of Iwo requires short-term means best achieved by sweeping our house from inside. The monarch disclosed he need no visa to travel to anywhere in the world but sees no sense in frequently jetting out of Nigeria when his people are suffering.

He said his trip was not only to reunite with his family but also to facilitate foreign investors to Iwoland to make the city one of the foremost economic hubs of State of Osun and Nigeria as a whole.

Oba Akanbi pointed his compassionate programmes ranging from Oluwo Food Bank designed to give free meals to the less privileged three days a week and others continue despite his absence, affirmed all arrangements were concluded before his departure.

“Oluwo is a worthy father. He loves the people of Iwo and Nigerians as whole. My love and service to my people has been postponing my travelling. I can`t just live my people like that. That is why before I travelled, I made provision for everything needed so that the people I feed will not suffer before my return. I love Iwolites more than myself and my children”.

“I don’t need visa to travel to any part of the world but my patriotic zeal to Iwoland, seeing smile in my peoples` faces is my utmost joy postponing my journey for long. You don’t sweep your house from outside, you sweep from inside. I must take care of my people before any trip”

“My coming to Canada is not only to reunite with family but also to facilitate investors that will establish companies in Iwo. And it is yielding. I just left a meeting with some private Canadian investors and government in Canada here and it is fruitful. Iwo will be great soon. There is silver-lining of hope in the sky. I will urge my people to stop selling land for peanut but instead lease because those lands will appreciate unimaginably when the companies come”

Oluwo lauds Aregbesola’s Investment In Education
A first class paramount ruler in Osun State, the Oluwo of Iwoland, HRM Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu has lauded the state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola for his huge investment in education.

The monarch gave the commendation in Osogbo, capital of Osun State during the official opening ceremony and commencement of learning in the state-of the-art schools built by Aregbesola’s administration.

Oba Akanbi tagged Aregbesola as game changer, whose investment in education has systematically rekindle the learning passion of students, adding that conducive environment and better package for the teachers of the newly commissioned schools are motivators for the aspiring students irrespective of their social status.

He cautioned those accusing Aregbesola of huge indebtedness to leave the governor and allow him to remain focus. Oluwo said Aregbesola is not frivolous and that the products of the borrowing are visible to the blind and audible to the deaf.
He said the giant of all nations; United States of America is one of the highest debtors and maintains her position as the greatest. Oluwo described Aregbesola’s borrowings in prosecuting the rot in education sector as needful for a visionary governor, urging him to continue his good work.

“I’ve travelled to more than 50 countries and visited many schools. I have never seen secondary school of standard with the one built by Aregbesola. Aregbesola is a model and proud product of Awolowo for making education a free asset for all and sundry.

“Ogbeni is the hope for the less privileged, one of those reasons I call him Gomina Mekunu, meaning government of the masses” is connected with his educational policies. He meant well but people will soon appreciate him better when the impacts are yielding”.

Osun Monarch, Oluwo Threatens To Arrest Judge, Says His Arrest Warrant By The Judge An Insult, Denigration

Osun Monarch, Oluwo Threatens To Arrest Judge, Says His Arrest Warrant By The Judge An Insult, Denigration

The Oluwo of Iwo Land, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi has described as an insult and an attempt to denegrate the stool of Oluwo, the arrest warrant issued by an Osun Magistrate Court, Olusola Aluko, saying he would rather vent a traditional anger and isssue the judge “traditional warrant of arrest”.

According to Premium Times in an Exclusive report, the brewing crisis between the Oluwo of Iwo, Abdulrasheed Akanbi, and an Osun State Chief Magistrate, Olusola Aluko, took a dramatic turn as the monarch threatened to issue a “traditional warrant of arrest” on the judge for daring to denigrate the Oluwo stool with bench warrant which he issued on Tuesday.

The monarch who spoke to PREMIUM TIMES on Friday, said the warrant of arrest was a nullity because it was aimed at disrespecting his office as an Oba and was based on frivolous allegations.

He argued that he had not done anything wrong to warrant the treatment by the magistrate, saying the judge was paid to issue the order.
Mr. Aluko had on Tuesday ordered the monarch’s arrest for refusing to appear in person to face charges of fraud against him.

The court had on November 25 ordered the monarch to appear before it in a case filed by the Oluwo of Iwo-Oke, Kadiri Adeoye, alleging fraud against him.

At Tuesday’s sitting, while the applicant was in court, Mr. Akanbi was conspicuously absent, in defiance of the order of the court, although he sent another monarch, Ologburo of Ogburo, Asimiyu Sadiq, to represent him.

“On the order of the court made on November 25, 2016, the order remained. I hereby issue a bench warrant against the first respondent while further proceeding on the matter is adjourned to December 27, 2016,” the magistrate stated, after listening the counsels of both parties.

The Oluwo, however, noted that the warrant of arrest was “an insult and a disrespect” to the traditional stool.

“The magistrate is a disgrace to the judiciary. He should be probed by the authorities,” he said.

“The allegations on which he issued the warrant have not been investigated before issuing a warrant of arrest.

“I have also decided to issue a traditional warrant of arrest against him, so that he will know the powers of the Oba.”

He argued that in the suit filed, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Fimihan Adeoye, who is the second respondent, had not attended the court, but sent his representative, just as he had ensured his representative was always in court.

“If the commissioner of police can send a representative to the court to represent him, why should I not be represented,” he said.
The monarch alleged that the magistrate was corrupted to issue the warrant just to tarnish his name.

Mr. Adeoye had approached the Magistrate Court accusing Mr. Akanbi of concealing some facts about his past to the state government when he was installed as a first class monarch about a year ago.

In a 33-paragraph affidavit, he accused Mr. Akanbi of having used armed thugs to harass and attack persons whom he perceived as his enemies.
He further alleged that the Iwo monarch forged his name to obtain travel documents to the United States where he was allegedly jailed in New York City and deported to Nigeria in year 2000.

He added that Mr. Akanbi later travelled out with his real name to Canada in 2001 and became a Canadian citizen but was also arrested in Toronto and was in jail between 2006 and 2007.

“These facts were concealed for the state government which appointed and installed him as the Oluwo of Iwo,” the suit read.

He also accused him of presently making money through internet fraud and using his palace as a cover-up.

Mr. Akanbi reacted to these allegations in a 13 paragraph affidavit through the Aremo of Iwo land, Adelani Akanbi, describing the application as “scandalous, vexations and designed to embarrass, blackmail and ridicule the monarch in the view of right thinking members of the society.”

The embattled monarch also told PREMIUM TIMES on Friday that all the allegations made against him were as “worthless as a tissue paper.”

“The magistrate was paid to smear my name after they have failed to rope me in a murder case,” he said.

“Go and find out, Aluko is the single magistrate that is often used for dirty jobs, he should be investigated.

“They are using the Oluwo of Iwo-Oke to do this job, a monarch that is under me, who cannot even read or write. I have 32 monarchs under me, and most of them are supporting me.”

PREMIUM TIMES contacted the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeoye, on the bench warrant, but he would not give details.

When pressed about it, he said he would contact his legal department to find out if the arrest warrant had been received.
Further calls to get the details failed to yield any results.

Recession: Oluwo advises FG to industrialize economy

Recession: Oluwo advises FG to industrialize economy

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, has charged the Federal Government to urgently begin the process of  industrializing the nation.

In a statement by his Media Adviser, Oriyomi Akinbote, the monarch said it has become very imperative that the government formulate a policy to consider industrialization of the nation as topmost priority to help the national economy get out of recession.

The Oluwo, who also advocated for outsourcing and involvement of Nigerians in diaspora in implementing the policy for it to have a significant positive effect on the nation's ailing economy, maintained that it was time President Mohammadu Buhari and his team looked beyond agriculture for the survival of the economy, both in the short and long runs.

According to Oba Akanbi, the nation has no excuse to allow non performance of the economy despite its huge population and diverse mineral resources in the bowels of the land.

The first class Yoruba monarch said Nigeria has a great lesson to learn from the history of China on how it emerged a leading world economy from obscurity in the non too distant past through creative management of its resources, particularly her huge population.

Describing industrialization of the economy as the panacea to numerous challenges facing the nation, he noted that many jobs, direct and indirect, would be created and the youths would be meaningfully engaged and consequently reduce the evergrowing crime rate.

He said: "As much as I believe that agriculture is good and lucrative I don't think it would give us a reasonable speed as the industrialization in firming up the ailing economy. Let's think about how industrialization has brought an unprecedented high turn over of jobs and revenue into the coffers of the Chinese government lately. Many American and European companies now have their plants in China because of many economic advantages - cheap labour and other incentives from the Chinese government which give them the leverage to be competitive in various world markets.

"Nigeria could do the same as China and also beat China because of additional opportunities that we have. We have abundant raw materials to support our production lines. The population is there for us as the biggest black nation with a huge home market for end consumers and also for export to other African nations and the rest of the world. Nigeria unlike China is also strategically located and closer to Europe and America, where investements could be attracted.

"So, I want to advise that we leave tiling of the land for our neigbours like Niger Republic, Mali,  Chad and so on and let us focus industrilization because of its many inherent advantages. Nigeria does not have sufficient lands for agriculture but we do for factories and industries that can employ more than agriculture. For instance, the size of Nigeria is not up to a province in Canada and many states in America. Our children will also learn technologies when they work in some of these factories once they have their plants here."

Oba Akanbi advised President Buhari to leverage on the warm reception and confidence of the international community in his administration's anti-corruption war and quickly move to attract investments beyond the shores of the nation.

He further advised Mr. President to collaborate with traditional rulers, whom he said could facilitate large expanse of lands in their domains for factories and industries to operate.

The traditional ruler, who urged the Federal Government to systematically improve infrastructures, said experience has shown that foreign investors are ready to come forward once they know there would be incentives from the government, including tax holiday and other necessary supports.

He added that many of the prospective investors could go as far as providing solutions in the immediate for teething challenges that could impede their operations once their overheads are nothing compared with their net profits.
