Certificate Scandal: The Worst Melaye Can Do Is To Kill Me Like His Mentor, IBB Did To Dele Giwa - Sowore, SR Publisher

dino Melaye and Sahara reporters Publisher Sowore
Omoyele Sowore, the publisher if the renown online news media outfit, Sahara Reporters has likened the embattled Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye to the former military dictator, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, saying the worst the Senator could do is to kill him like his mentor did to a journalist, Dele Giwa, several years ago.

Sahara reporter has been in forefront of reports alleging that Senator Dino Melaye's degree certificate allegedly obtained from Ahmadu Bello University could be fake, citing so many infractions on the certificate.

Sowore, the Publisher of Sahara report in a press statement seen by News Punch said he is was pertubed in any way to hear Dino Melaye had approached a court in a libel suit against him over the certificate fraud report.

Below Is the Full Text Of Omoyele Sowore Press Statement:

It was brought to my attention earlier that Nigerian Senator Dino Melaye promised to 'send me to jail' over the recent unraveling of his questionable educational background. While some are worried, appalled, alarmed and concerned and even scared about this declaration, it had me thinking differently. I am a Nigerian citizen who had been through torture, humiliations, and incarceration by dictators in uniform between 1992-1999 before I eventually left Nigeria. I have never doubted the power of justice over legalities.

That a Nigerian Senator in a democratic era could make this proclamation is indeed a sign that our democratic transition was a farce, particular when you've now noticed that Mr. Melaye was sitting at the feet of one of Nigeria's worst military dictators, Ibrahim Babangida just a week ago.
One of Babangida's worst crimes against humanity was the assassination of notable investigative journalists of our time, Dele Giwa, by way of a parcel bomb. Another thing Melaye shares in common with Babangida and his killer squad was using libel lawsuits to silence inquisitions In the 80's Gani Fawehimi was found liable of libeling the killers of Dele Giwa and asked to pay damages to Halilu Akilu.

Here is how I am different and also not different, I am not going to run away from criminals running the Nigerian political space until they are defeated, and their ideologies of greed, bloodiness, and avarice are entirely abandoned and discredited forever (Apology to Bob Marley).

If it takes my life, so be it. If it means another unjust ruling asking for damages for thieves. So be it. We must take our space back from the 10 percenters, drug dealers, certificate forgers, money launderers, political manipulators, and assassins.
Thanks you

Saharareporters Publisher Arrested
The Publisher of an online news medium, Saharareporters, Omoyele Sowore has been arrested by the police.

His arrest followed a complaint by one Lekan Fatodu, who accused him of defamation of character.

In a tweet, Fatodu said: “I just got Sowore Omoyele of Saharareporters arrested for criminal defamation, blackmail and threat to my life and career.”

New Fuel Price Hike: The Economic Criminals Have Won Again, By Sahara Reporters' Publisher

Why I am Opposed To The Fuel Price Increase Or "Deregulation" by Omoyele Sowore

I have read the reason(s) adduced by the Nigerian government to justify the increase in prices of petroleum products, particularly Gasoline/Petrol/PMS. I was a student activist in the 90's when the military regime tried to convince people why an increase in prices of these commodities was necessary. A ridiculous one I remember the most was the argument that since bottled water was pricier, then petrol prices needed to go up. This was under the IBB regime.

We need not go into the rest, yesterday, the argument for the latest increase in the pump price of petrol was blamed on a range of criminal elements within our society. They included militants, smugglers, hoarders and saboteurs within the government. While the government hasn't increased the price of engaging in these crimes, it is simply callous to pass the same on to the mass of our people who are themselves victims of these highly connected criminals.

Also, you can't deregulate and regulate at the same time. The regulation in the latest deregulation is the fixed cap of N145 above which no marketer is allowed to sell gasoline per liter, however, our recent experience is that these marketers are above the law, the smugglers are above the law, the NNPC fat cats are above the law of the land, and the NPA criminals and demurrage manipulators are also above the law, under the new regime of prices, they will only increase their stakes and profit margins, it is simple law of demand and supply. Whenever they want more profit, they simply create artificial scarcity.

ALL the argument adduced yesterday were canvassed 25 years ago, and they were the same used by Abacha, Obasanjo, Yar'adua, Jonathan and now the Buhari regime.

The most ludicrous are the arguments that the money "saved' from non-payment of subsidies would be applied to develop infrastructure, that's a lie. The government has over N2trillion deficit to overcome, the 2016 budget never included payment of subsidies anyways, so there is nothing to save. I am opposed to any government policy that puts more money in the pockets criminal elements at the expense of the poor. Members of Nigeria's larger-than-life oil cabal are the greatest beneficiaries.

Remember, Kerosene is totally deregulated but you still can't find it in the market because criminals are diverting them away from the masses.

The economic criminals have won again!

What is ur opinion?
