Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam has felicitated with the people of the state as Year 2017 takes off, saying that the peace and tranquility that prevailed in the state in the previous years were marvelous and desirable, urging for the continuity of the two factors which have enhanced the touch of development in the state.
Speaker Salaam in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Goke Butika described the people of the state as fine species among the tribes of people on earth, asserting that their patience and political sophistication have made the delivery of democracy dividends from Gov. Rauf Aregbesola administration possible.
He acknowledged that 2016 was very challenging because of economic recession and nosediving purchasing power which made people to endure certain degree of lack, nevertheless the year ended on promising future which made the government to defrayed outstanding salaries of the workers, while hope rose on modulated salaries and work-in-progress developmental projects in different sites across the state.
Speaker Salaam then rolled out that the New Year resolutions from the parliament in 2017 would be hinged on continuous oversight functions, constitution of democratic governance at the Local Government councils, reformulations of legislative instrument for education and health sectors among others.
Speaker Salaam further called for more unalloyed support to the state parliament and the government in general, saying that people should have a common purpose which touches on development of the state irrespective of their political leaning, saying, “ that Osun must be seen our collective patrimony; wishing people Happy New Year”.
